Um, on what grounds are you able to say "you have a better command of English than MOST Americans"? That has to be THE epitome of making an overstatement.
Ok it's been around a year since I got mine. I can say that I have used almost every day. Here is my experience with it. Pros: it gets sync even though I leave in El Salvador C.A. I am the type who sleeps with the watch on, and it sync. It is light. Doesn't attracts attention since it is not big. It usually is in H level. The features works perfectly. I have used the dual time zone during one travel to TX. It was great. I gone swimming at the beach and pool, no problems. Gone hiking no problems. Cons. Due to the see through shroud one can see specks of dust that gets in between. There has formed a weird satin in one of the straps. they are small, and they look as if they are inside of the cabon fiver weaving. I wish I could send you a picture and tell me what it could be. They were not there before. I've checked and there is not a tear or crack on the polymer. Since I work in an office 10 hrs per day, I have noticed that the artificial lights are not enough and it goes to M time to time, a couple of minutes outside and goes to H again I go inside the office and goes to M.So I put my watch near a window(no direct sun) for 1 to 2 weeks while I wear another watch. (A solar lad weather that I got as a gift). I really like it knowing that I have the most accurate time it's awesome, also that it can withstand things that others can't. Also all the features that it has it makes it worth it.
Just got my brand new GW-M5610 today. Very good watch and remembers me my childhood cuz I had a watch like that before. I didnt had DST on display but your tutorial/review helped me alot to set up my watch for the first time, and more precisely to "understand" how my watch works, now everything is clear as water in my head, haha. Thank you very much mate ! You got a free Thumb from me, keep up the good work. ;)
One of my favourites too. You're absolutely right about the screen being just about the clearest on all the Gs - it's contrast is excellent, better even that the GW-5000. I asked Casio UK how much it would be for a replacement bezel and strap, I like to have spares. The bezel was a reasonably priced £8. The strap was an outrageous £122 - $158US. It's cheaper to buy a whole spare watch! :)
The reason the LCD "pops" is because it's using a STN LCD. Very few square models have an STN display. Only the metal squares and this carbon fiber model have it. I don't get why Casio doesn't use STN displays are all of their models over say a $100 bucks.
This is the best tutorial I have seen about this module. It realy help me decide on either buying this one or the other module with bluetooth that also has solar power and radio reception. Thank you very much.
I have just bought a GW-5000-1jf and thanks to your explanations, I have understood how to put it into service quickly. Thank you for the clarity of your tutorial.
Thank you so much! I managed to find myself a GWX-5600-1JF (which I totally adore) and the instructions are in Japanese so I was stuck in front of a pretty considerable wall, lol. Thank you for coaching me through this! Sadly, I seem to get a pretty poor signal from WWV even though I am in Louisiana. But it's all good because you helped me get this squared away, THANK YOU!
I only own automatic watches. I saw the perfect video you make, and i ended up buying it. Totally in love with it. I dont use any other watch since then. Thanks. Such a good gt2rs🤣🤣
Thanks. Super informative. Your videos are what encouraged me to invest in a G Shock. I bought a GA 500 uc, but traded it with a friend for a GW-M5610 because I couldn't get down with that super [irritating] illuminator. So far, I'm enjoying it. -Blessings-
the resin band of gshock is by far the most durable band out there it will last until your last breath, carbon band is good it makes your watch looks premium. :)
Agreed. It is amazing how many reviewers of G shocks never seem to master the functioning of the watch or just ignore functions. I do think Greg Anderson does a good job, but Watch Geek is more systematic and linear.
Listen man. May I just say a big THANKS!!! For such an in depth Tut and video. I have the M5610 and since I came to Philippines from Ireland I had taken the watch off and it didn't get much sun. Needless to say I had problems. However, your info here has cleared everything up and my watch is now working again, as it was stuck on a 2005 date after a recharge. Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you. RUclips could do with more guys like you!! Regards, Murphy
Thanks! This video was extremely helpful. You covered every function clearly and efficiently. I'll be referring back to this video until I remember how to do everything haha. Cheers!
I put mine into a titanium bezel and bracelet. Still very light, and I like how it looks and feels, but it does run the total cost up to about 220 US dollars.
I recently started my g shock collection. I never considered digital. I have some quality timepieces but I'm finding myself wearing only these squares. I recently acquired this model. I also got the new B5000TVA. I hope you review that one if you can. Your channel is awesome!
Great review. Feel compelled to buy this for the 40th anniversary of the G-Shock watch line. That and I turned 40 this year as well. Tend to like this over the 5000u but tough call.
I know your video is on the GW-S5600, but it's so cool that you have an original DW 5000. I've been trying to find what it looks like irl and not just some picture from Google.
Thank you for saving me a lot of time looking for the Auto Light Function. Your video was thoughtfully laid out, professional, great content and I really appreciate the Table of Content. Thank you.

Great review & photography! I bought mine on line from Japan about a year ago. It hasn't missed a beat. Very good in ALL functions except signal which I can't get here in Australia. One of the most comfortable G's to wear. Real quality made Casio!
I live in El Salvador, and I bought mine few days ago. Even though I live in a country without signal coverage I bought it due to its features. Do you know where can I see if a signal amplifier will work in Central America? It will be great if I have that option
Pretty wild how robust the features are on this. Initially, it just seems like a basic digital watch, but after watching this, I'm going to make sure I wear my watch everywhere I go
Great video thank you....just bought this watch and really helps. Also just bought the mudmaster b100 and your video really helped. Very detailed and clear. Thanks 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Very helpful Video! Thanks for that. Want i can’t figure out is, how to set up the duration of the afterglow on the display. I read somewhere it can be adjusted to 2 or 4 seconds. Tried for hours... could figure it out. I own the GMWB5000D-1
Nice opening! I love the carbon fiber look, it's very cool! I remember Mizuno from my little league days, I think I had their glove. Good times. I still really like the solid gold one from the link you sent me.
What's the best G-Shock for travelers? It would be nice for the watch to automatically change time zones as I travel. I also would like a digital display to show me the day, date, and time ie 09:07 Sun Sept 14. Other nice things, solar powered, water proof, sunset & sunrise times, and thermometer. Any suggestions? I'm overwhelmed with all the options.
Great review and very comprehensive! I got my GW-M5610BC (same module) last night and sized the combo bracelet this morning. Great watch! As soon as I got it out of the box and set the time zone to LAX it popped up the correct time, etc (said the last sync was 1.10 at 3:30- I wonder if that's essentially the build-date of the watch- 1.10.18?). Any who, with sync set to auto and the watch on a window sill it synced right up with Fort Collins CO. at 12:03 AM. This is my first G-shock- if you're thinking of getting either the GW-S5600 or the GW-M5610 go for it!
I finally got mine. I downloaded an app to sync the time since "I'm outside the range" been in El Salvador, it worked like a charm with manual sync signal search. I did it around 9pm, to my surprise today that I see that got sync in auto at 12:07am again, I will be checking if it happens again. This tutorial has replaced the Japanese manual. Jajajaja I have to say it is a sweet watch.
@@WatchGeek Today, the first detailed review of new products has finally been released on RUclips, where the new display module is shown in detail. No wonder I waited for several years, realizing that the model is old, and there should be an update. The new display module has several important and fundamental updates for me.
I know I'm pretty late with my comment , but what good does it do buying a carbon fibre watch when you replace all the carbon fibre with generic rubber because you are afraid to scratch it ? And also , the carbon fibre band will not brake because of wear but the plastic surrounding it will eventually ! So all in all the only positivity of the watch in question is it's weight . Lastly mentioned is the bling and scratch magnet of that plastic . I think that the GW 5000 U is the far better watch except the missing red colour on the dial! Frank S. But as always it's another great review , like you always do.
Good morning excellent follow up great way of putting it Porsche 911 , either go big or don't go big at all!! Lol..carbon fiber nice, couldnt agree with you on the box square!!! Another one to add to the list on Xmas list!!! 😀😀
+alfred yu thanks and this one is definitely a keeper as I believe it is destined to become a future classic, as not only was it first to implement a certain technology but was and still is the most extreme g shock when it comes to weight
Great content as always. Question for you. I want a Square that is bigger than this one you're reviewing. What is the Biggest Square that isn't the G-Shock Gx56bb-1?
Great channel, man. Loving these videos. I still prefer the GW5000. To me it's the best G. Also I need to get some reissue of the DW5000. I missed on DW5030C and now jacked up prices everywhere. Then I am done with them squares :). Or maybe not... What is your opinion on recent GW5035A?
+Dušan Kyselica I was trying to get a hold of the new GW5035 but couldn't as they were sold out, it's great looking, but the bezel is definitely not intended for everyday wear, as it is a lint magnet
+Dušan Kyselica yes, definitely, it is long overdue. I just can't say when exactly. If you are a subscriber and love GShocks stay tuned for next video as I will be doing a review of additional straps for g shocks and do a giveaway
I just found this video. Great review and very thorough guide. Thanks! Just one question. Is there any reason, other than aesthetics, to prefer the GW-5000 with the SS screw back over this model?
The heft of it, as well as the fact the lugs and the case will never be damaged from changing straps and batteries which can happen with regular plastic cases
The case is plastic, wherever yoi change batteries on a plastic case you risk striping the threads in the case since screws are metal, it happens if you over tighten them. It rarely happens and usually to someone who never changed batteries before, but it can happen
Unless I missed it by skipping through parts of the video...all this is missing is an explanation of the barometer, thermometer, and altimeter. Been scouring the internet to try to find a video showing those functions.
This is the best video on RUclips about explaining the features of G-SHOCK
Thanks

Wish they would make the negative display on the new S5600U
Brilliant video explaining how everything work 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Very clear and helpful! Hvala! :)
Excellent tutorial, just got a 5610 and the instructions with the watch are pretty poor.
Congrats and I'm glad I helped
Great content as always. Question for you. I want a Square that is bigger than this one you're reviewing. What is the Biggest Square that isn't the G-Shock Gx56bb-1?
DW-56RT
@@WatchGeek G-shock DW56RT? The Ref Watch?
Yes, it's the biggest "regular" square
Thank you for this video. If helped me a lot.
Very easy to navigate!
Loved the analogies . How does the strap compare in feel to the resin ?
It's stiffer and longer
Great video thanks for doing this 👍
Thank you, very informative greatly appreciate
Excellent video. What are your thoughts on the gshock GW-M5630D-1? It also has carbon fiber straps. I actually prefer it over the S5600.
+Talvin Singh the backlight is incredibly cool on that but I still prefer the screen graphics and contrast of the S5600
I may have to get the S5600 if that is the case :-)
Great channel, man. Loving these videos. I still prefer the GW5000. To me it's the best G. Also I need to get some reissue of the DW5000. I missed on DW5030C and now jacked up prices everywhere. Then I am done with them squares :). Or maybe not... What is your opinion on recent GW5035A?
+Dušan Kyselica I was trying to get a hold of the new GW5035 but couldn't as they were sold out, it's great looking, but the bezel is definitely not intended for everyday wear, as it is a lint magnet
Watch Geek Do you plan doing the DW5000SL review? Just like you did with your beater Seiko.
@@WatchGeek
Wait a minute. I thought the S5600 had titanium parts. Why would it (potentially) get damaged when changing batteries? Just asking
The case is plastic, wherever yoi change batteries on a plastic case you risk striping the threads in the case since screws are metal, it happens if you over tighten them. It rarely happens and usually to someone who never changed batteries before, but it can happen
@@WatchGeek
Would you say that the GW-5000 is the better watch between the two? I hear the 5000 has really stiff buttons.

Thanks for clarifying!
Thank you so much for the video it was very very helpful.
Unless I missed it by skipping through parts of the video...all this is missing is an explanation of the barometer, thermometer, and altimeter. Been scouring the internet to try to find a video showing those functions.
It doesn't have them
Excellent explanation of 3159 G-Shock module. Thanks !
Thanks for the kind words
I believe the 5610 doesn't show the time in the Timer mode neither. Only the 5600 does.
Great video thanks
