I'm not religious but sometimes I think they died for a good reason. They were made for the 80s.. a better time when shows still had morals and value. Growing up in that time was special. Were they alive today, in today's hollywood, in today's climate... I think it'd have damaged their spirit and sould beyond repair. They got to send their message of positivity and were spared to witness what people made of it....

@@LeutnantJoker During a lot of this time period, there was Paul and Jan Crouch of TBN that always used to yell 'Praise the Lord' and then ask you to give them money. There were a lot of pastors and preachers that toured and metaphorically did the same while wielding a Bible. They did everything with it but READ It. Michael Landon was on the receiving end of a lot of their Ilk. From what I understand, both died of Cancer related conditions. I don't know that their passing was for a good reason but tragic non the less.

I have the complete series DVD set of “Highway to Heaven” and have for a few years now, but I’ve been on a binge watch over the last 2-3 weeks of all five seasons and I have to say, it is a very uplifting show and it truly does inspire and make you feel good. Jonathan Smith and Mark Gordon, two great characters that became best friends over the course of the show.
In the pilot episode, Jonathan Smith is offered a ride to a town for a new assignment. The driver asks for ten dollars. Jonathan declines the ride after the driver tells him that nothing is free. Jonathan then tells him that kindness is free. I wish there was more kindness and empathy in this world especially nowadays. I think Michael Landon had a great positive attitude towards life.
I’m glad he was here on earth to spread love and kindness and offer positive stories that we could learn from and I’m glad Victor French tagged along with him in that Ford LTD II on the highway to wherever they were going. May they both R.I.P.

It is so great to know that the friendship so believably portrayed by Victor French and Michael Landon in their various collaborations was not just a case of great acting but was as genuine as it appeared. That they did so much TV together attests to that! I believe Michael Landon holds some sort of record for being continuously on Television from the late 50's ('Bonanza')thru to the late 80's ('Highway to Heaven')- and French was in a big portion of that remarkable record! Thank you Dave for a wonderful piece on two great actors and as it turns out, greater friends.👍

I also have just finished watching highway to Heaven again, I suggest everyone buy the full seasons of all his stuff, because cancel culture is coming after them, it's sad but true, life is no longer the same. Such a great episode. Anne-Marie Martin really held her own with Mike and Vick, she went toe to toe with them on screen and she just makes this episode, with her quality performance and improv skills.
I first saw Anne on "Days of our Lives",my mom watched the show, and she caught my eye every time she came on screen. She was hot, and her character on "Days" was just evil, she really lit that show up.

My mom who was a lovely lady with a big heart had serious problems with drinking out of depression. It destroyed her life and our family . Ending up living alone and lonely she loved this show and loved Bonanza which she regularly watched when I was young in the 70s so she was a fan of Michael Landon and she loved little house on the prairie too . But out of love and missing my mother and wishing I hadn't let her drinking kept me away so much as a young adult , later in life as I'm now a completely non drinker but live alone after many of my own personal problems I watch re runs of Highway to Heaven remembering how it touched my mom deeply , I get a hell of a lot of enjoyment watching the epic show . What a great show and great actors and characters and storylines . During the beginning of my moms drinking getting ready bad during my final years at high school mom swore to us all that she saw an angel one day . We didn't take it seriously and put it down to her being drunk one day . Funny though because during my childhood around the same era in the same house which was kinda spooky , I had terrible nightmares about the devil. Maybe the angel was there to look out for us . I've seen my own angel too lol crazy as it sounds . My mom turned to drunk due to always trying to see good in people and forever being let down . Too many people take good kind hearted people for mugs in this world and often pushes them over the edge . I truly believe in God and have seen what must be karma or something like that happen so many times . But I would much rather just see people showing love and affection and appreciation for each other. I could so easily be like many other people and find success through selfishness and greed etc . But I resist going down that road and it's a tough road so much and so often. .
God bless you mom and dad love and miss you both terribly. See you again one day hopefully.
God bless Michael Landon and Victor French also , RIP both of you and thankyou so much for the joy you brought to my mother and myself xxx
