As speeches go, yes this one is truly inspiring. But it is also just words. We can't cast aside hunderds of thousands of years of experience and reduce everything to an us vs them situation. Some things best remain undone and some words unspoken.
What a great speaker Andreas, wish I could have half your skills. Love the way you put up the story together, perfectly make sense. History will remember you as one of the most influent guy in the Bitcoin world creation. Keep being a weirdo, man!
Revenge of the Weirdos! Let's Rock, Andreas! Thank you for who you are! You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.
What happened during the talk? The audience appear at 0:45 then disappeared around 2:27. Camera angles? Nevertheless it's still an interesting talk by Andreas, the Bitcoin Buddha 😎☺
interesting thing about Facebook is... in Poland for quite long time everyone was on platfrom called nasza-klasa (our class) that was based on Facebook. Facebook itself became popular in Poland many years later. The same thing with ebay, in Poland much more popular platfrom for e-commerce is Allegro.pl , not many use Amazon. Allegro is King Poland is full of geeks and people who love crypto, plenty of crypto miners as well, unfortunately the govt and banksters started a war on crypto that pushed out 2 biggest exchanges to Malta in recent weeks. One of them called BitBay.pl (on background behind Andreas) is a strategic partner of this event.
16:00 "Bitcoin is the future and blockchain is bullshit." 21:10 "When someone says they're interested in blockchain, but not in Bitcoin, what they're saying is: I don't understand." Love this guy.
That’s a fantastic question, I’d like to hear his commment too. There has been so many OGs leaving the scene for good, that is naive to think the ethos remain the same.
John Barrett ... Lol. So now we have Bitcoin AntiChrist? What else we going to have? Bitcoin Lucifer? Bitcoin Moses? Bitcoin Muhammad? Bitcoin Prophet? Bitcoin Vishnu? Bitcoin Khan, Bitcoin Hitler, Bitcoin Napoleon, Bitcoin 觀音菩薩, ... 😋
When explaining the concept of Bitcoin and uncensorable content to my Uncle (who spent most of his life studying and fighting homelessness), he found the concept of unstoppable child ad sex-slave markets to be very disconcerting. Given that the weirdness continues along with some more mainstream adoption, I wonder what the solutions will be to combat these almost universally reviled markets? (Obviously though, some people engage in them or the markets woudn't exist)
recently i was in different cities across germany and i recognized.. many of them looking the same.. the same brands, shops, products, cityscape. Unique nature of city cores covert by big brand signs, stereotype designed facades just for shopping, consuming, burning money.. i asked myself, where is the unique lifestyle of the people, the originality. You must take time to find such spots because companies conquered the best spots already.. almost every city has now it's own Disneyland.
Platforms around bitcoin should be re-invented. Specially exchanges. I like the idea of using existing means of communication to perform p2p exchange encrypted end-to-end. Escrow services can be made with minimum exposure to exchange itself unless one party disputes.
amazing! i was in bitcoin March 2017 precisely because my jadedness with the the current monetary system. my hard-earned money which i have no say on how much more of it will be printed to justify governmental spending. just jaded. being very very weird, i instinctively felt a sense of belonging with the then bitcoin community. however, merely a year later, it's only old bold beer-bellied guys from the banks and insurance companies at the crypto-valley gathering... sad...
Ethereum was able to censor theDAO. I don't even have enough disk space to run a full node, my only option is to trust the rest because I can't verify. No thanks. I will stick to bitcoin.
The scaling issues with ethereum are bad. Very bad. And the security/centralization issues are even worse. Have always stayed far away. Could have been rich, I guess, if I bought when first hearing of it. But, it would feel like a huge counter-party risk just holding the stuff. I'll stick with Bitcoin and a side of Monero as a privacy/fungibility hedge.
DoffMan Crypto Queers Yes I did hear about some people called Roger a Bitcoin 💩 & other awful/weird names ... Genghis Khan & Hitler was also called a lot of awful/weird names too ... That's the problem with being weird (& the famous/infamous 😋) ... Roger is just as “weird” as Andreas (depending on one's perspective) ... In reality, the weird can get labelled as 💩, judas, zealot, psycho, maniac, terrorist, rapist, pedophiles, witch, slut, monster, bullshit, 😈, 王八蛋, 白痴, 頑鈍, 猥褻, ..... I just prefer to refer Roger as the Bitcoin Jesus 耶稣 & Andreas as the Bitcoin Buddha 菩薩 ☺
Andreas is talking about BitcoinCash advocate Roger Ver. Ver has been called a weirdo over and over... thank god the ‘weirdos’ forked away from Corporate takeover Blockstream and created their own community BCH... Core can continue to tell ppl what they can and can’t do with BTC.. BCH will move bitcoin fwd without imposed limitations...
I've lived in a number of "weird neighborhoods" too, and those where my skin color didn't match most people's and they were all quite open (meaning anyone could move there). After they were gentrified the prices did indeed go up and at the same time so did other barriers to entry. Bitcoin's $50 transaction fees and open goals to limit transaction volume look to me like gentrification of Bitcoin has already happened. Gentrification in Bitcoin is called "hodling".
There aren't enough hours in the day to listen to Andreas. Phenomenal presentation as usual...
I like to listen to him while I jog!
youre the man, Andreas!
A wonderful speech. Andreas is the best (but he knew that).
As speeches go, yes this one is truly inspiring. But it is also just words. We can't cast aside hunderds of thousands of years of experience and reduce everything to an us vs them situation. Some things best remain undone and some words unspoken.
M.I Popescu
Words are just words ... The power of words comes from the reader/listener. ☺
I love how he ends his speech with "keep it weird" . Straight from the heart , Andreas! Epic content , as always!!
What A great way to start the morning. Thank you

What a great speaker Andreas, wish I could have half your skills. Love the way you put up the story together, perfectly make sense. History will remember you as one of the most influent guy in the Bitcoin world creation. Keep being a weirdo, man!
How does one become so good at public speaking? This man is captivating.
So rare - an eloquent erudite with a sense of humor, empathy and a dash of a charm for an audience. Great info.

You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.
Fantastic speech. Love it.
Orator Extraordinaire; And how fortunate we are to have @aantonop as our Ambassador is wholly ineffable.
Andreas is a revolutionary.
Long live the Revolution!
So true! This is exactly what happened with RUclips. It was way better before they became a big corporation
I'd call it a weirdness of general purpose. Thanks, Anton!
"Work on your quirk" doesn't always equal good ideas or creativity.
Aside from that, I think you've brought a few interesting ideas.
What happened during the talk? The audience appear at 0:45 then disappeared around 2:27. Camera angles? Nevertheless it's still an interesting talk by Andreas, the Bitcoin Buddha 😎☺
陳Jet they switched to the camera you can see on the chair in the middle..

God Bless Andreas....!

Beautiful.
16:00 "Bitcoin is the future and blockchain is bullshit."
21:10 "When someone says they're interested in blockchain, but not in Bitcoin, what they're saying is: I don't understand."
Love this guy.
The Jedi of Bitcoin nails it again.
Simply brilliant.
I would love to see his opinions on modern proof of stake eth and its censorship of certain no-no coins
That’s a fantastic question, I’d like to hear his commment too.
There has been so many OGs leaving the scene for good, that is naive to think the ethos remain the same.
Andreas keep up the good work help bitcoin solve world peace and stop wars through bitcoin
I'm in awe! Applause!
❤ Thanks Sir ❤🎉
Andreas is the best!I will translate it to Chinese
Top notch as usual!
Interesting man. I want to enjoy it like Nike. Like the big prime shining stuff. It's only going to be really mainstream if it can be like that
Great presentation!
Exciting stuff!!

ddnbbuddy
More than just a church ... It a like going to a church-mosque-temple-shrine-synagogue-concert-seminar 😂
John Barrett ... Lol. So now we have Bitcoin AntiChrist? What else we going to have? Bitcoin Lucifer? Bitcoin Moses? Bitcoin Muhammad? Bitcoin Prophet? Bitcoin Vishnu? Bitcoin Khan, Bitcoin Hitler, Bitcoin Napoleon, Bitcoin 觀音菩薩, ... 😋
Great talk!
Man that was one of the best speeches thia year. N he's right. Well all see it. They are trying to clean the space.
I cried! god damn Andreas.
What a deep talk

Great speech.
Are you sure that Blockstream isn't becoming gentrified?
What a brilliant stream of thought.
#keepitweird

Sadly, all of the biggest BTC communities are heavily censored.
Awesome speech. 👍
WE LOVE WEIRD!

Excellent!

So you were around before 2008 and thinking that way... I see...
