While I would tend to agree, Note that It's easier to track the contribution of a single individual than it is of a larger organisation.

Fair point. Then I'd argue that it's in the interest of such organizations to communicate their contributions in an accessible and clear maner.

+Veganic ♾ interesting stuff, but he's in it for the money is he not? He's not doing this for humanity totally. Second point, the billions of people he's talking about reminds me of the lies CISCO said about China - 90 percent of the people there do not use the internet - they are poor farmers actually. Lastly,, 90 percent of wealth is in a tiny fraction of the population - and they are not in Kenya? I agree this open source technology is coming for sure as did my early days 1991 with the networking of computers. Globalization of a one Government and laws is inevitable, but people have not changed in 50,000 years (brain wise) so there will be no leveling of wealth since their are only one in a million Andreas, Henry Fords, Gates, Westinghouse etc. I am 57 and only just purchased a cheap digital phone - I have not need for 500 "Friends" because that is false - you are lucky to have 5 real friends in truth, but people are fooled into Facebook etc. stuff. Notice all these additions cost a lot. I have now a bill for typing to you, and one for the telephone. 40 years ago the phones were cheaper but you had to dial the number and could not carry them around. But it wasn't bad. I don't use the internet really to buy anything, I just don't buy stuff - consumers seem to always be in debt. I have none. That's the last thing 90 percent of the people comprehend - save, save and save? I have a VW and 2 million in assets mostly cash. Not bragging at all - that's poverty where I am, but still it was all made on early investments in the "networking" stocks in 1991 BUT the peak was 2000, not 2001 when I got out of gambling. This stuff scares me. A foundation is not a charity it is a 501(c) 3 tax shelter legally (yes, I'm a lawyer). Retired.

+hallerd we will see. Humans are unpredictable no matter the math. VIetnam was our life, a Muslim was one in a million and not hated - only in the Israel/Palestine problems which were millions of miles away. Nixon was a great President, Watergate a fraud by liberal newspapers who all hated Nixon/Kissinger. Nobody ever heard of Iraq and certainly know where it was. We all thought nuclear war with the Soviets was a real, real possibility. We as kids were taken to West Virginia in October during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 - never told why (Washington, D.C. resident). So We will see, I think it will happen to. But people still cash -- since several thousand years before Christ. But horses sure fell off the road.....Interestingly I just found out about Bitcoin from a very young friend so I am studying the concept. Good lecture

Mr. Antonopoulos, you are an absolute hero and I never would have spent the past 4 years in decentralized governance and DAOs if it were not for you. You inspired millions. The space has lost touch with the ethos and reason on why so many pioneers sacrificed so much in the fight for decentralization.

One thinks often about senators as the "old noses" sitting in their warm chairs and basically not getting these topics. I am very pleasantly surprised that this is not the case. They give space for that presentation, they ask the right questions, Andreas Antonopoulos answers in a very elaborated and correct way. Great watching and listening.

That meeting could not have been conducted any better than how it went. 1 Because Andreas is by far the most competent medium for conveying the idea(Thus far* -He kind of gets Finders rights to this) behind what BlockChain is and what Cryptocurrency is, at a level where not only an every day person can understand, but to also put it in perspective for how our leaders can understand. And 2 The openness and willingness to actually understand what Andreas was saying and the implications of this new technology, by the members of this Canadian forum. Both sides too this discussion did extremely well in the rolls they had, in asking the right questions and giving the right answers... You could really see the smile growing on the Main Speaker's face and the sort of excitement as this discussion went on. You could see that he was blown away after every time Andreas spoke. I know I am a bit late to the party on this video and when it was released, but for future parties and people alike who do not or will not know about this discussion in particular... I want to extend EXTREME gratitude on behalf of All of them to ALL parties in this discussion. This video should be presented to all leadership of every country around the world, and also be preserved as a landmark historical event which is equal to, the discovery of North America. Thank you Andreas, you truly are The* Bitcoin Jesus!

+georgem "Admit it, money doesn't create problems."
That statement might possibly be the most erroneous statement on the internet, next to the Earth being flat and Jesus loving you. The sole motivator for the vast majority of crimes done for personal gain is money. The sole reason for organized crime and all the murders/kidnappings/ransoms associated with the entire underworld is money. In fact, most crime is either directly, or indirectly financial in nature. The reason why the majority of the third world is suffering -- besides logistical limitations -- is money. The reason why politicians, and virtually anyone in a position of power is corruptible, is money. One of the top reasons marriages end, as well as the reason for tons of other miscellaneous interpersonal problems between friends/siblings/lovers/etc. is money. Not having enough money forces you to live on the street despite the amount of resources you can potentially have access to, and the list goes on, and on...
It doesn't logically follow that any of the aforementioned propensities for crime, or socioeconomic issues will magically disappear if government, banks, and corporations are absent. The reason you get up and sacrifice your health and sanity to stay at a shitty dead-end job around people you'd rather not be around is money. Mind you, I'm not saying government, banks, and corporations don't play a huge role in why capitalism isn't as great as it can potentially be. I'm sure anyone who's been alive for more than 20 years can agree to that, but for you to blatantly ignore the flip side of that -- the obvious limitations and inherent problems with our current dominant socioeconomic system -- is quite literally unreal.

+XSilvenX You are getting very close to a complete understanding. You're still missing one relevant factor. Through the fractional reserve system and fiat (by government decree) money, the value of hard money is constantly deflated. This means holding or earning some of it is a losing battle against inflation. The system was designed with exactly this in mind from the beginning BY THE BIGGEST BANKS. It's like you and I sharing a pie (the total value society offers to money) and I give you 3 pieces, I keep the rest, but we keep cutting the pieces smaller and smaller (you still only get 3). On it's face, you still have the same pie but in reality, it equates to less food.
By doing this across the board, they steal from individuals, families, businesses, corporations, municipalities, governments, countries and any other entity out there. It's exactly this theft that causes scarcity of money and it's that scarcity that's the root cause of every problem you correctly listed. Stop that theft and every one of those entities become insanely wealthy in an instant.
How much? Their wealth gain total the same as the income of the banks but it gets better. Their income totals around 4/5ths of the total GDP so right off, we'd get 5 times what we currently do. That's enough to remove most crime by itself. However, if your taxes take 25% of your income and your interest takes another 25% and your insurance takes another 25% and your bills take 20%, then you actually "live" on 5%. If I suddenly give you 5x as much, many of those expenses don't increase. A rough average might be that interest drops to zero, insurance is halved and bills double. This leaves about 20% to "live" on but it's now 20% OF 5 TIMES THE ORIGINAL AMOUNT. That's 20 times the living income you began with. You can see how quickly the right decisions can lead to retiring very early. And earlier retirements lead to lower unemployment.
Overall, this leads to money abundance which solves most of your listed problems. And by placing the people more in charge of the political scene (since there's no monopolistic banks to bribe the politicians), more effective government will likely lead to better peer pressure solutions vs so many violence based disciplinary solutions.
And all this came from the people taking control back over how money is used.

I am pleased, with the Canadian Senator's optimistic reception of this idea. I am for; any new development of a system that takes the power out of a centralized banking system, controlling our monetary system, and putting it back in the hands of the people, where it belongs. This system should be part of the free market, not regulated or controlled by any governing body or agency.

This is public fact that there are only three countries left in the world that aren't owned or controlled by the central banks. (Cuba, North Korea & Iran) The entire global monetary system trades or issues fiat currency. There needs to be a change, the problem is not just Canada, it's global and it's systemic.

The value of the Canadian dollar is proportional to the things we sell to other nations. When we regulated ourselves out of work and the Americans woke up and started to talk about deregulation and lower taxes, the investors in Canada (mainly Americans) went back home. Our banking system is Fiat, just like the US too, making matters worse. Our NDP Provincial government in Alberta and our Federal Liberal government have both leveraged heavily, already. Within 6 months, our PM borrowed a billion dollars to give away to foreign nations to fight climate change.... what this actually means to you is that by the time you retire, you won't have a CPP worth having. Hell, as I've stated many times, I'm only 36 years old, and I've seen our currency devalue several times. Its buying power is less and less with each decade.

    • @walperstyle
      @walperstyle 7 лет назад

Government jobs do not count as 'employment', because they get paid by the extortion of labour from other people, and those funds get democratically dictated where to be spent by elected, but mostly unelected bureaucrats. Government fudges 'unemployment numbers' as a means to make you believe they are doing great things, so you continue to let them expand their powers over your life. Its oppressive. NOTE: Our borrowing rate is not as bad as the US. They are upwards of -$250,000 per every citizen in the US, whereas in Canada, we owe $19,000 each. So, going back to that I've stated before, (maybe not in this conversation) Socialism and Corporatism are the same thing... they both are control from a central body through laws and regulations, and the economics behind it is not sustainable.
Kill corporatism with capitalism. Allow people the power to decide. Kill the monopolies by unleashing the power of the public will and ingenuity (creativity)

The senate expressed a willingness to explore with an open mind the issues at hand and to come. Being relatively new to understanding Bitcoin, I find no better than Andreas Antonopoulos in eloquently and intelligently spreading the real vision of Bitcoin and its possibilities. In my opinion, I believe the only obstacle in Bitcoins way are those whom are not in full realization of this technologies full potential, but instead focused on a short term, narrow perspective monetary agenda. We definitely need broad perspective thinkers advocating Bitcoins true power and to help people understand it's outreach. Not if, but when this alignment takes shape, Bitcoin will revolutionize the world, as it was meant.
