I think when someone gets in this weird space where are about more the 1500 cryptocurrencies and so many moon guys out there and then you listen to andreas antonopoulos you hear so many things that nobody tells you about this technology and you get addicted to it and thats why i have all your books and i appreciate all your work you put into this community all those years keep up the good work :)
I liked your comment but I disagree with one piece. The current systems' barrier to entry for making money from labor or creating a good is too high and that's why I believe there are so many people with no money. Take away a governments and big central banks ability to print and I believe this will fundamentally change. You're looking in the right place to find out why. I personally can't explain it but videos like this one have lead me to that belief.

When he asked about the measure of success I didn't think of any of the ones he mentions. I believe we succeeded if people at some point have, because of bitcoin, the choice and the ability to easily work outside of the current fiat and banking system.

I agree with a great deal of what Andreas says, and he has taught me a lot about Bitcoin. I am one of his many Patreon contributors. But I disagree that price is not a good metric of success. Price is determined by the market, and the market is the collective sum of the beliefs of people---belief in the technology. It is true that many newcomers are foolish in their degree of speculation and thus there is potential to "get poor quickly" when they buy into a bubble. But that is simply the ordinary progression of speculation. Yet, it's still true that speculators play an important role in the investment process---and always has! Along the way, many of the speculators will *also* be people who fall in love with the technology and recognize as much as the most hardened crytpo-anarchists how the value of the technology changes the world. Better than being spiteful toward the speculators, we should be learning about them. After all, they are a step ahead of the adoption process. They are somewhere between the early adopters and the masses. We want to understand the masses, right? So we should be learning about the newcomers---the speculators included.
Don't forget the difference between value and price. His point is that price is a terrible measurement because the infinitely inflatable fiat money the price is designated in is outside the hands of even the speculators. The measure of success as a money to me is to be the global reserve currency that all others are either based off of or laughed at. If this is ever to happen it will first be worth quintillions of $somehyperinflatingfiat. That's not a greater measure of success vs millions of $somehyperinflating fiat, it's more the measure of failure on the fiat side of the equation.

The Internet could never change society from an unfair one to a fair one, because it was never about lack of communication, it was always about capitalism and competition. Those two will not change unless we really push to change those in favor of something cooperation based. And, honestly, I don't think cryptocurrency either is enough to change the insanity, because the underlying incentives in a competition based society drives exploitation and victimization, innately.
Your podcasts are always worth watching Andreas. I salute you. Cryptocurrency gives me the opportunity to see history unfolding, to see financial institutions disrupted, to see governments struggling with legislation and to see so called financial gurus make asses of themselves.
What are your thoughts on the oracle problem? Its seems as though until the oracle problem is solved, Ethereum does not have many feasible real world use cases. Thanks.
I love this question so much. Did you listen to Laura Shins podcast "Unchained" with Jimmy Song. He adamantly believes the Oracle problem is impossible to solve and Laura takes the other stance. Personally, I side with Laura hard and think it will be solved pretty soon. Of course the economics behind any system built to solve it will need to prove the test of time but I bet we're not all that far off.
I put lots of money into Various of blockchain projects, because i wanted to get Rich, i still want to get Rich, i did this at the point he spoke about. But i still feel like the technology could do really cool things, and i would rather keep the coins that i have and buy things with them rather then chaning it to fiat, but sadly today Fiat is buying power, and we all need it. Bitcoin succeeded when it was invented and went live. The average person has no idea what they will have in the future because this can not be uninvented.
I am an avid fan, Andreas! I'm so disheartened that even some of my favorite RUclipsrs representing the crypto space, are now cheering for ETF's and Futures entering the space. These same people, a year ago, were touting the revolutionary properties of de-centralized block chains and how exciting the prospect of throwing off the criminal banks and government control this technology offered humanity. NOW, I'm hearing them cheering on the Centralization (ETFs & Futures) coming into the space will be for the price. Please be successful Andreas, in bringing the community back to the principals upon which they originally got into cryptos.
De-centralized block chains must have thousands of nodes, controlled by thousands of different people, not by any central party. ETF's and Futures are centrally controlled by Centralized Exchanges. They are DERIVATIVES of the coins/tokens, (they can conjure up as many as they want..free) and therefore, the prices can be heavily manipulated by the Exchanges .. JUST LIKE THEY "CONTROL" EVERY MARKET ON EARTH, ETFs & Futures insure there will be no Free Markets in cryptos! Unfortunately most people don't know they're actually voting for more of the old system when they cheer on these old system tricks to keep control in the hands of a few!

The network should only include people that want to be free. First you make that choice then you participate in the network. Utility is the only not mesure of success, the network could have two nodes or N nodes but all nodes must be free.
People become smart when their economic well being is at stake. If success is the realization of ownership and what comes with that philosophically the state will have to resort to harsh measures to get everyone back in line. My question is what's their next move?
