my boss was a matsuura guy. we have a bunch of the old 1000V and 1500V twin spindles and 2 H.Plus630 horizontal with the pallet manager, 12k spindle, 180tool matrix, cat50
¡Excelente! video of the linear motor drive machine, even if the actual machining was washed out onscreen, what with the glare and the coolant on the window. I assume the 4th and 5th axes are not linear motor driven as that doesn't seem coochable to me. Linear motors are only on the linear axes, yes? Anyone else happen to notice Matsuura's ace, Tyler, was sporting his unusual translucent ear in this demo? It's at minute 10:00-10:20. Fascinante.
High John love your videos .I,m a novice at this sort of thing and im building my own cnc router . ive been using fusion 360 and was wondering if you could recommend any other programs to run cnc with.
was looking at some cutter tests on one of our machines the other day , 120kw 30k spindle producing over 10 litres of swarf a min in 7000 series Aluminium with a 25mm solid carbide ripper just insane
Plus, all the hem stitching required to get that kind of surface finish, and detail requires a lot of time. The part could probably be made faster if specialized cutting tools were used, and then blended by hand afterwards.
Wow they integrated the maglev tech into a CNC already? Very impressive, and I am sure, very very expensive. Do they ship to residential addresses, lol
I'm pretty sure DMG Mori is not the market leader. At least not in terms of quality or innovation. Their reputation is getting worse and worse since the Ecoline machines came to the market, which were horribly manufactured in China. After 1 year they discontinued making them. Mazak is probably bigger, and definitely superior in nearly every aspect IMO.
Lucifer M Mazak has gone seriously down hill. Major spindle issues lately and poor service least here in the states. DMG's ecoline is meant to compete with HAAS and Hurco. Those are poor machines to judge them on. The larger non-eco lines are top notch. MillTap 700's are killer machines. And the EvO line is better than ever. And DMG Mori has shut down their China facility. They're now made either in Japan or Germany.
I only know how UK Mazaks are, and there are nearly nobody who can speak of a bad experience. Hurco and Haas are in a different league imo. Milltaps? Fanuc Robodrills and Brother speedios are way more reliable, upgradeable and cheaper, while still being more rigid. eVo line looks good (like everything from DMG honestly), but I know how much service and support for a DMG costs, so no thanks ;)
kiss peter This is a machine designed for small intricate parts. Like medical or dental parts or small robotics parts. It's not a 5" face mill lopping off 1/4" at a pass kind of machine. 1/2" endmill would most often be the largest tool used.
I see that , but .... . Well the operator must have nerves of hardened steel to run that machine . One crash and the machine is damaged . I would love to see the bigger 5 axis matsuura machines in action .
kiss peter Good CAM machine Sim. Little extra time verifying at the computer saves from crashing. As long as you're diligent with making sure every holder and tool is properly modeled, crashes are rare
Ran a Matsuura for several years. High quality machine.
John,
I Love Your Enthusiasm!!!! Thanks

We have one of these at my training centre, about to get another one. Crazy to see them in action
Probably a bit high priced for the home shop but it sure is fun to dream!! :-)
Thanks John another great shop tour!
Everyone has to drink every time someone says the word "insane" in the video
your machine porn interviews are really good, thank you so much for the effort.
Really enjoying all the machine tours you have been doing. Thanx for that:)
Matsuura's stepping up their game it seems.
i usually feel you're overreacting when you say something is insane but damn 8:56 had me agreeing with you lmao
LOL. He said "Insane" 12 times in 12min 07sec. Very funny to me. XD
Thanks John, excellent!

Impressive machines.

BEAUTIFUL!
John, At the rate you're growing you'll be taking delivery of a machine that is better than that one before you know it.
Where is this video you were gonna link us?
was looking at some cutter tests on one of our machines the other day , 120kw 30k spindle producing over 10 litres of swarf a min in 7000 series Aluminium with a 25mm solid carbide ripper just insane
Chiron machine tools have crazy spindle power, could be a higher-end one of those
Was this in St.Paul, MN?
I like how everything but the tool ia being flooded with coolant
Seems like a lot of time for such a small part. Does that have anything to do with lower torque of the linear motors?
Plus, all the hem stitching required to get that kind of surface finish, and detail requires a lot of time. The part could probably be made faster if specialized cutting tools were used, and then blended by hand afterwards.

You are going to need a big garage and 480 power but there is nothing stopping you from buying one
Heck, get two... They're small. ;-)
Great video!
I'm sure that machine would run 24/7/365/10
If machines ever become malevolent, 8:55 demonstrates why we meat-sacs don't stand a chance! Awesome video though (as always)

That is the way to maximize spindle time...
InstaLike!

MX850 PC4 costs the best part of half a million pounds sterling.
And that right there is why Matsuura machines are the shit.
Beautiful good
I wonder how much that machine costs.
gredangeo if you have to ask you can't afford it.
Dear Santa...
wow just wow :)
dont be fools , u hobby people, :
these machines are for big companies... wich can afford it
yeah, your gonna get one lol
fanuck paneel
dear santa...
Before I get pissed off and angry, tell raptor it was downloaded from "the galaxy internet" or "the universe internet" I'm not sure what one 🤔
I will die and not will have one.
Watch DMG Mori machines ;) Same Level of Awesomeness ;P
dunichtich100
Makino. 20% more awesomeness.
Unfortunately with a 200%+ bigger price tag.
Occams Sawzall They are the market leaders for a reason ;)

amazing but looks weak .
They're designed for small, intricate parts. This thing's made to produce finished parts the size of the chips from the big lathes...
