I like this guy he seems passionate 👍 Matsuura should get him his own youtube channel like HAAS does.
I was thinking the same thing! He reminds me of Mark Terryberry from Haas
My workplace just purchased a MX-520 with a 4 pallet changer. They cut the floor today and are putting in some cement for the base. It is going to be a fun machine to see running
sooooo 6 months passed - did you saw the machine making chips or at your workplace they still putting cement to this days ? :)
Aron Damien Legend has it, the concrete is still curing.
Good salesman right there.
Exactly, had answers for every question, very personable.
100%. Knows what he's talking about, doesn't come across as a flog. Good job
We have an ancient Matsuura at work, it is so old it had a paper tape reader on the side. It gets treated like crap, always has been. Still works great, never breaks down. They make amazing stuff.
I like Matsura, I used to work on a 80's vertiacal one with additional 4th axis and It has worked very well and accurate as well.
Nguyen Nguyen we just bought this one
One of these is in my future. I can totally see the value.
Truly awsome high precision automated production equipment. Great video, great guys!!
Great meeting you, John! 18:28 - I'm famous!
Man I totally misunderstood those tool racks. I didn't ask anything about them but I assumed they were chains like the r650. I was so confused as to why they took such high tolerances to align haha
why don't ya get more famous by doing some vids again and talk in em! =)
Haha I think I will :)
Thank you as always for a great video!
O i so get excited when i see videos like this. Tangobaldy the number one fan
Jesus, those parts in the glass case were insane.
Great video!!!
That MAM tool changer is like a high end wine rack!
What an amazing tool company! Great video! Thank you!
I would love to land a job at a place like that. So much to learn.
Maaaan... love these machines... I need a shop like this... woooooh..
Very interesting stuff John. Thanks.
We have 2 mam72s. Machines are great but our Dealer sucks! Getting service done is a pain we needed a trunion bearing replaced at it took the dealers service techs 4 months to get the machine running. We lose so much money every time they go down. We are looking to replace them with Makinos due to our crappy dealer "Selway Machine Tool". Great video! Thank you!
nice , intricate small parts .
I heard that Matsuura machines are the ones that built Mechagodzilla. Great Video. Tyler is a great salesman.
No no, that was mitsubishi
That accessibility to the work and spindle is nice. I work with Makino mills where it is practically impossible to reach the spindle, and even with Y at max travel there is about 14" to the front of the table.
Hey, those are the guys from light rigging! They are great!
Totally insane,, I love it.
Most of my work was done on the MX-520. Shitty Fanuc controller, but everything else was pretty damn premium.
Fantastic machines and excellent dealer support in the Northeast. So glad Matsuura dumped MMT for Yamazen.
I am looking at changing maintenance jobs. I interviewed at a sizable job shop but I don't think I saw much in the way of palleted machines. I think I may have to ask what they think about a set up like this and from there decide if I want the job or not.
*THIRTEEN HOURS* for that glow engine! 😳
Someday..., yeah someday...!
The MX520 is a dream machine. Run your production overnight and run you job shop work during the day with no spindle down time, just setup on a pallet and schedule it. I think with he versatility of the 5th axis you would be very competitive with a HMC spindle time AND you have the added capacity of the 5th. I'd love to know the price on one.
I got a quote on both an MX330 and MX520 with and without their pallet changers about 6 months ago. I remember that the MX520 was $400,000 CAD without the pallet changer (including probe, laser, and 1000psi coolant). That's the configuration I almost got so I remember that the best. I believe that plus the pallet changer was in the mid $500,000 CAD. Also I think the 330 was about $330,000 CAD and $450,000 CAD without the pallet changer. And just for interest sake I ended up getting an Okuma 460 5AX. I'm sure I would've been very happy with the MX520 but lets just say my wife is jealous of my Okuma lol
My old company bought a MAM about a year a go and it reduced cycle times over 5x from a 4 axis Mori Seiki MH50 with Fastems pallet loading system. Just so fast in aluminium and reduced ( removed ) moving parts from one position to other on a toombstone. But the price...
My first thought when he was basically in the machine at 17:55 was "Do not initiate a tool change right now!"
nerdyrcdriver I'm sure the door is interlocked to prevent that.
Sean Murphy yeah, I'm used to older machines with disable options and guys that always disable them. I turn it off on our tm1 but it isn't enclosed and the safety switch screws with tool changes.
Ha! I did an internship with Chick wayyyyy back in college!
Hey, to answer you're question on finishing the bone plate...
It wouldn't surprise me if they send it to the operating floor like that, the doc breaks it off and puts it right in. Maybe the nice ones debur them a little. I had Herington Rods and miscellaneous hardware taken out of my back from a previous spinal fusion. I asked for the hardware "back" (pun intended) ...and it looked like the doctor cut the titanium rods to length with a bolt cutter and just stuck them in sharp.
They should make all surgeons that do this type of work take machining classes. Just because they are a doctor doesn't mean they're smart or compassionate.
Reminds me of the old "All is Full Love" video by Bjork
John, How do you get an invite to a showroom before its even open ? You must have some serious contacts !!
I think he simply just asked. What a better time to showcase the machines on camera when there's less people there making noise.
9:41 what is with the look on that guys face? I found it quite it amusing. He seemed perplexed or embarrassed for being on camera or something.
46krpm couldn't they just go ahead and get 50k? lol Awesome machines. A lot of the big US outfits pushed pallet machines way back in the 80's but it was an idea before its time and ultimately took many of them down. Interesting to see how the heritage on that MAM played out beyond that time.
bcbloc02 there might be a resonance issue with the natural frequency of the machine at 50k.
8:50 when I tell my wife I finally got her that wine rack shes been asking for
Hey John, the lx 160, it fits Grimsmo’s shop NOW.
When I saw #realtime I only said one word.
I wonder when they'll get the idea to use a single pallet changer on multiple machines to fully automate processes with multiple machines.
Most big machine tool companies offer this, but it's usually considered a special order. We have mainly okumas and I've seen systems set up by them that start out on a lathe and then go to a 5 axis mill to finish all sides of the part.
Can anyone tell me what's up with the guy to John's left with his mouth open sideways at 9:45?
He came to buy one thinking they were $9K then went into shock when he found out they the were $900K.
matsuura lost its voice in the northeast after methods parted ways, glad to see they are coming back.
How much cheapest matsuura cost?
My small 4axis taig CNC looks like kid infront of these machines, Japan and japanese rocks always..
Image how much better manufacturing would be in America if instead of using machines designed to build one part, we used machines designed to build any part! Take note GM! O wait that would take a fraction of a percent of profitability away from board members... never mind what was I thinking.
The needs of a high mix-low volume manufacturer are completely different from that of a low mix-high volume manufacturer, and subsequently their processes, machines, plant and workcell layout.
I disagree, GM and other mass manufacturers wouldn't be in so much trouble if they were more flexible and modular. The constant advancement of tech and lack of fore sight on their part means they are stuck with tooling to produce obsolete technology while less dedicated, higher mix tooling would have better enabled them to adapt to the constant change techcentric generation has created, albeit at the cost of a little profitability from reduced efficiency.
I'm only picking on GM because they profited greatly from the bullshit government bailouts, or should I clarify... tax payer wallets!
Never trust someone that cant spell thousandths...
Too cool for grammar 😎 I remember those kids in school...
I must admit, at times, I’ve been known to be a bit of a grammar-Nazi, too, but it’s plain to see that Kjeld’s spelling and grammar in English aren’t perfect because English isn’t his first language. Whether or not you agree with his statement, picking on the grammar of a non-native speaker for his linguistic skills is pretty much a dick move and doesn’t do anything to support your argument. Just some way-late-to-the-table food for thought.
Soo…what's the price tag on that setup?
Rick If it’s anything like the twin Okuma MB4000H I run at work, $3M including tool matrix without tools. This also includes a Fastems 32 Tombstone pallet crane storage system. Be a bit less if it was only a 6 Tombstone pallet pool
As they say "If you have to ask......"
Andrew Lang I think he's asking how much the showroom setup costs. The dozen machines. It wouldn't make sense if he was talking about one specifically, since about 6 machines were shown in the video.
Rick well, he said that the first machine was approaching 7-figures, so maybe $900k. There are about a dozen machines that I could see, so let's say $10M with tooling.
Andrew Delashaw Sorry bout that, my RUclips translater was down. I was trying to give a price point on the Tombstone pallet pool Matzu
What's the purpose/use of the fan at 11:08?
Blowing chips off the part
not really chips its more for coolant so operator doesn't use the air gun
Also to blow any debris from vise/fixture before robot/human places next part. There are some crazy big brush looking tools that deburr and remove tool marks that are kinda strange but effective also.
SierraLimaOscar Lang Technik Clean-Tec Chip Fan. Even though it is called a "chip fan," it's mainly for removing chips, but also coolant, from a part before it is handled by the automated machinery.
Thanks for all the replies! Obviously this fan doesn't solve any problem I currently have 😃😃😃
oh gosh, m future houses´ basement will be packed...
Videolarınızda Türkçe alt yazı rica ediyorum. Teşekkürler.
15:18 TEH DURKA DURRRR.
anybody ever seen a shop floor look like that?
What is the Aprox Capex on a 5-axis?
It depends on the options and extras you want to have with, but let's say it starts from 500k USD
Got a quote on an MX520 6 months ago, it was $400,000 CAD with probing, laser, and 1000psi coolant through.
Hey John. Great video mate, but boy has it caused some controversy in my house. You see, last night was date night with my wife where we sit down and watch a movie together. Anyway, I spent the first 30 minutes watching this video hence she wasn't impressed. So a quick question, do you know any good divorce lawyers LOL. Cheers, Aaron
"What the hell is a jijawatt?"
"small footprint" i've seen smaller houses 😁
That salesman needs to be told that the bottom button on his jacket is meant to be left undone.
That's an Impeller not a Blisk, ya Nit.
Can someone explain what the "tool" is that starts at ruclips.net/video/gP2JYoalM-8/видео.htmlm5s Is is some kind of fan?
That looks like a chip fan. It loads as a tool and the blades flip out. Major hurricane-force wind, but you definitely want to allow for clearance.
I still think it can't beat Mori Seiki.
None of them will fit in my basement. :(
Take more time to change tool
Jeez salesmen.
Anyone else having problems with the video playing?
tom kelly , yes buffering like mad..
Same here. Thought it was my network, but seems to be RUclips. Was doing the same thing on Haas' new UMC-750P video as well.
I feel poor looking at these things
soubhanallah
if the point is growing US manufacture, why are they promoting a Japanese manufacturer? Shouldn't they be using US made machines? This sort of convenient double standard pisses me off. Be consistent in your message. If you choose to buy a Japanese machine over one made in the US you are not supporting US manufacturing so stop saying you are.
