OH. MY. GOSH!!! I have been messing with every solution imaginable for the last two days straight so I could play AC2 on Deck and absolutely NOTHING was working. I thought I was going mad. This worked like a charm and was so simple and a wonderfully easy tutorial to follow. Can't thank you enough for this and for helping me regain my sanity!
This helped immensely with trying to get Assassin's Creed 2 to work. Uplay constantly stops it from working. Now it works like a charm. Thank you so much!
When you use connect, it obviously uses the right third party client all they have to do it patch their steam repos but of course this is Ubisoft. Thankyou for this
You are by far and away the best Steam Deck resource on the web!! Ran into the issue of the game not showing up in protontricks, and BAM you already had a video for that. Keep crushing it Monroe :)
Such an easy solution that even a novice like myself had no problem following along and implementing the solution. Now I a play Assassin's Creed 2 on my Steam Deck OLED! You're the man! Thanks sir!
Appreciate this video a lot, I was worried about having to tinker with my steam deck too much as I’ve always been a console gamer, but videos like these help ppl like me tremendously, saved me from having to refund AC Origins 👍
Thank you so much! I was trying every other fix for AC: Origins to no avail but this worked beautifully. I didn't even have to put it into Proton Experimental. It just worked after adding Ubi Connect.
It works! But when proton tricks install Uconnect and prompt me where to install it, I choose SD card. And it's still works. Thank you so much. This is straight forward and easy than previous method.
i m here to leave a comment just want to say thank you , it actually worked ! i tried tuning the MTU like others suggest it didnt work at all , how lucky i was to clicked this tutorial and how simple dat is to learn , thanks you .
I want to thank you very much. I can't tell you how many times I try to get this thing to work on and off over the last year or so. Now it's working perfectly so thank you very much
OH MY FAAAKING GOD THANK YOU MAN! Finally able to play ac2! Also much appreciated that you took extra time to explain theres reponse time between clicking those options so I know things are actually working just to wait a bit.
You Are So Helpful And Just Amazing Bro , I Can Finally Play Assassins Creed 2 & Brotherhood Again. You Are Awesome 🙌🏽

Interesting. It’s look more easy than UNO’s solution video. A few weeks ago I bought AC Unity on sale, so if I have trouble running it. I’ll apply this video. Thank you very much.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, I had an issue with ac2, and i had previously manually installed it by copying the files from my pc, but that took ages and was very complex as i had to find the right folder, this tutorial was easy to follow and much faster.
Earlier this year this video helped a TON, honestly, honestly your work in this video was better than millions of google searches and reddit posts. However, idk if it's just me but, protontricks hasn't been able to open some Uplay games because it wasn't able to find Uplay in general. I have no idea about other older games but this is the case for Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
@@Darkunino, I don’t use the steam deck but my operating system does use Linux, so I thought it would work just the same. I realize now that I was wrong because the steam deck uses KDE but since I use mint it doesn’t work the same. My bad.
Omg, thank you! I'm going on a trip to Europe in 2 days, and Italy is first on the itinerary, and I was wanting to play Assassin's Creed 2 & Brotherhood during the flight & train rides, but I couldn't get the game working. But this fixed it! Thank you!
I did have 1 follow-up issue with AC2 specifically. I had to name my save file, and the controls wouldn't allow me to select confirm. I had to change the control layout to get past it, so it's resolved now. Just leaving this here for anyone else having the same issue.
Awesome video thanks! I was able to get Ghost Recon Breakpoint working with this tutorial. Now I’ll know what I have to do when I eventually get into replaying the assassins creed games on my steam deck. Thanks again!
Thanks a ton! I was scratching my head trying to figure out what was going wrong. Your simple and easy solution was just what I needed! I was trying to get AC Origins to run and was amazed (surprised) that it was using Uplay to facilitate its launch when I know that Ubisoft Connect had already released by 2017, the year the game came out. Once more, thanks to your video, I was able to mitigate my issue. I already own AC Origins on console, but the opportunity to buy it again on my Steam Deck was too good to pass up.
Thanks!! This helped me getting Assassins Creed 2 to work on my steam deck. In december 2024 :) Didn't even need to use proton experimental. I will definitely try it for other games if it comes up again!
Works for me, thanks for the awesome fix. Just a note on an issue I ran into (and solved): when the Ubisoft Connect login screen pops up following launching the game, I was unable to access the keyboard - and therefore couldn’t enter any text into the email & password fields. Keyboard shortcut wouldn't work. I eventually got around this buy pairing my phone with my deck using KDE Connect, and using my phone as a remote keyboard. Hope this helps anyone else that runs into this problem.
Just did this with AC 2 and it worked perfectly! Didnt even have to swap it to proton experimental, although when i exit the game it stays running in steam’s library, so i just have to force stop it through steam afterwards
Thankyou this actually worked I absolutely love the ezio trilogy and I couldn't get ac 2 to start thank you and thank you to the reditt post that lead me here
Been trying forever to get Syndicate to work on Steam Deck. This is the only thing that has worked! Thank you! Now, I bought Ghost Recon Breakpoint on sale to play and that has it's own issues. Any fix for that... anyone? Or maybe this method works for it as well? Might try.
I am having new issues. Ubisoft connect pops up but instead of getting me to a login screen, it skips Ubisoft connect altogether, attempts to launch and shows the Ubisoft and Nvidia introductions and then crashes. What can I do?
One RUclips video is better than a thousand google searches
In this case? Absolutely. :)
@@Darkunithank you. You have no idea how long I spent trying to fix this. It took literally 5 hours, and I am not exaggerating.

Had the same issue with that game as well this week after finishing AC 1. Glad I found this video. Thanks!
Watch dogs didn't need fixing at all
Ac rouge did. The Mtu trick works for it
Testing Revelations now
Edit: Revelation is running?! Very happy
LEGEND. Only fix I’ve seen for this. Didn’t even notice it was running uplay instead of connect.
Appreciate it!
This helped immensely with trying to get Assassin's Creed 2 to work. Uplay constantly stops it from working. Now it works like a charm. Thank you so much!

September 2024: still works. Thank you so much, Monroe!
October 2024: still working! Thanks man, playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint happily 😃

As of June 2024, this solution still works, I tried it for ACII. Thank you Monroe, you are doing the lords work
Thank you my friend. I'm pleased to have been of service.
Damn. I get an immediate “readme” looking error after selecting ACII with protontricks.
@@KKJazz Reboot first. Rollback to STABLE channel next. Reinstall ProtonTricks AFTER changing back to Stable. One of those should work.
can confirm it works as of september : )
Hey man, there is no other way to say this... I love you man! I'll finally be able to continue my AC streak on my steam deck! Thanks a lot.
Glad to have helped!
Thank you so much! It's ridiculous that it's needed in the first place, but with your fix it works like a charm
Omg thank you so much. Youre the only RUclipsr that actually helped me make this work. I tried for 2 days to find a solution and this took 5 minutes

Shows how little Ubisoft cares about their games on the Steam platform. I swear they do it to force you to "buy from them". :)
@@DarkuniYeah, I think it's a dumb mechanic. Why force us to buy directly from Ubisoft Connect/Uplay? Other devs like Capcom don't do this.
