The War On Drugs "Red Eyes" from 'Lost In The Dream' out now on Secretly Canadian Видеоклипы
Riding backwoods in Kentucky drinking a cold one and jamming on this one. Sun is out, sky blue. Temp perfect. So beautiful
None of us condone drinking and driving but my man Charlie nailed it. A cold beer on an old back road on a warm late afternoon with a band like this is a special treat.
This whole album is absolutely killer.
Walker Nighbert
Awesome.
Huge joy division fan, glad to see another soul with good taste.
Agreed!
Absolutely agreed - adore this album. Love your profile pic. The one and only Ian Kevin Curtis (bit of a hero of mine).
the war on drugs have kept me alive 6/1/2021
2018 September I was listening to this 24/7 while walking my dog on Friday evenings after dark/after I got off work. Preparing a wedding in the coming weeks. Imagining what the future would hold. 8 months later divorced. Now, 5 plus years later I am listening to this song again, feeling it deeply in my body on this Friday night after dark. Life will fuck you up but music will always be there for you. 🙏
Well funding said...Jesus
This song will definitely be on the Top 100 chart 100 years from now (since 2023)
Imagine looking for "that one song" you heard but you couldn't remember any lyrics to it, nor how it really went but you knew it was a banger and you liked it and you just couldn't really ever recall it ... almost like it was part of a dream...
And then you find it....
Yeah. That was me just now.
bruckers64
Awesome.
Ahhh! Lucky you. I bet you've played it a ton.
best feeling ever
I was just like you, remembered the song, the tune, the melodies, harmonies, and hooks, and...
Wait for it...
I Finded It!!!!
@@keiththorpe9571 isn't that just splendid?!
This song is like the ultimate mood reset button. Listening to it just once can literally make any day for me.
When Waterboys meets Neil Young meets Bruce Springsteen. Every song is a masterpiece of delicacy
One of those songs that make you contemplate on life and your surroundings
Five years now and still stuck on this song.
We are so lucky to be alive at the same time as this band. What an incredible reverb drenched soundtrack to hang our memories on!
Good grief.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I'm obsessed with this track.
Me too!
I listen to it atleast once a day
6 times here... I just can't get over how much this band sounds so 80's rock but its not a metal rock, similar to like a 80's folk rock.
While I don't think I'd call it "folk rock", it's not too far removed from it. If you listened to 80s Album Rock radio back in the day (not just Top 40 that played rock), you would find that AOR didn't play THAT much metal, at least not until it took off as a fad (hair metal), because people demanded it. Nothing wrong with metal (IMHO), but it's just one style of rock. There's a whole lot more to 80s than what was popular in the mainstream, such as metal & new wave (of which this is also not TOO far removed from).
Erabus this is a hybrid of a song by Wire Train called I'll do you and burning for you by blue oyster cult
Everytime I hear that first "Wooah" in the car, I hit the gas!
Their music definitely should be listened to while driving, or on a road trip. Can’t get enough.
Listened to this song driving through the Utah deserts. Tears of joy
Definitely 👌🏻
I listen to this AWESOME 😎 masterpiece all the time back home 🏡 in the Pacific NW💚💙
Listened for my whole, brief trucking career.
War on Drugs and "The Trip" by Still Corners are always the first two on a roadtrip playlist ruclips.net/video/2m2Lr_HqCfg/видео.html
As far as 21st century rock music goes, you honestly won't here a better riff than this. It's roaring but emotional at the same time - so, so difficult to create something like this. An absolute masterpiece
Without a doubt
Come and see
Where I witness everything
On my knees
Beat it down to get to my soul
Against my will
Anyone can tell it's you coming
Baby don't mind
Leave it on the line, leave it hanging on the rail
Come and ride away
It's easier to stick to the old
Surrounded by the night
Surrounded by the night and you don't give in
But you abuse my faith
Lose it every time, but I don't know where
You're on my side again
So ride the heat wherever it goes
I'll be the one to care
You're all I've got, wait
Don't wanna let the dark night cover my soul
Well, you can see it through the darkness coming my way
Well, we won't get lost inside it all again
Oh, my mind
No one sees me, I'm out here waiting
They don't mind that I'm here, I hear
Throw the bad away, and your mind against it
I would keep you here, but I can't
Oh, I'll talk to you when I make my way back
I don't see it over there where I come from, yeah
Lost and you're hurt again
The easy way to cover my sin
Don't want another dark time to think to myself
We won't get lost inside it all, you're on my way
Well, I can see it in the darkness combing my mind
Well, we can hear the voices war inside
Yeah, and you won't get lost inside it all
You're on my way
Thank you
Thank you
Just went through finding out i have cancer and 12 months of chemo to look foreward to and this song actually made me feel better
Gl Lulu you got this!
Screw cancer. Hope you’re well!!!
God bless you, Lulu. May you soon be fully healed of your cancer. 🙏🏻
I’m sorry for you darling!!! All the best
Bless your HEART doll ... Believe ✨
This is a truly outstanding band and I am just finding out about them... I am 62 and I just haven't heard anything new that spoke to me with exception of Rival Sons and Greta Van Fleet in the last several years..... but this is a thinking band with cryptic lyrics... and that really sends me... I have listened to about 5 songs and like every one of them... I heard "Pain" playing as I went into the grocery store and shazamed it.... It is quite an unusual song to be used in a public playlist but I am glad it was playing....
Check out balthazar, thank me later.
welcome to tWOD's world
same here, Im 60, and just found this band. Heard of them, but couldn't put a song to the name. Awesome stuff!
check their song "thinking of a place", it's amazing
Also check out the Killers newest album, The Head and the Heart , The Strokes and Ryan Adams. Lots of good new music out there.
Happy 10 years to this beautiful, uplifting song and the fantastic album it's from.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ From Ghana 🇬🇭, west Africa
I must listen to this band the next time I go on a road trip, I always imagine driving by a sunset while I listen to this!
MisterPringle omg I thought the same exact thing when I first heard the song
+MisterPringle I have driven at sunset to this song and recommend trying it.
BLUDGEEER Have you also listened to them during the sunrise, that would also be another great time!
Agreed! Will give it a go. I think any time between sunset and sunrise would also be an appropriate time to play this song. Especially while driving.
+MisterPringle ikr?? Do you have any recommendations for road trip songs??
This is my easily in my top 5 songs of the 2010's. "Lost in the dream" is superb.
I truly think that if the war on drugs were a band in the 70s they would have a much bigger impact on music. They have their own sound, they make great music, and they’re legitimately talented.
Any good Artist can be successful in any era
That little guitar shredder is rad.
I love the old dancing couple in this video. They look like they are genuinely having fun.
Yeah, at first I thought that was going to be the point of the video. The others were all strained and anxious because they were focused on performing, but the dancing couple were having a good time because they were focused on being with each other. So even though the dancing couple wasn't objectively that good, they would win (and not even notice). I almost felt offended for them when they got rejected, lol.
@@mayhit and then the clown gets more approval lmao
I was doing a job at a house in Walthamstow a couple of weeks ago and talking to the guy about his vinyl and our similar taste and in music. Lovely bloke. Told me to check this band out. Haven't stopped listening since. What a great band.
don't know why, but i feel nostalgic listening to this song
Lauren M Me too, just couldn't find the words to use....
Lauren M so much
Lauren M They've got a pretty classic sound
Lauren M perhaps b/c their sound is similar to older greats like Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits, Don Henley, and Bob Dylan... I LIKE "EM! A WHOLE LOT!!!
what does that word mean ??,
The masterpiece album of the decade.
Totally agree ❤
The only album from the same decade that I think comes close to it is Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter. Either way, both albums are out of this world.
Probably my favorite song of all time
I want to drive 200 mph at night listening to this
+xsg Highly recommended!
+xsg Probably why it was written in the first place,
Sigisvidoe
i want to drive 200 mph in a school zone
Make sure not to turn on those pesky headlights.
Song is a 10/10, video is a 1/10.
Would love to see them re-do the vid.
Can't help but feel it would have reached a wider audience....but then again, I like that me and only 11m other people have this little secret gem to ourselves.
Cousin played this whilst in the cab on the way to the airport to go Dublin for my 21st. Everytime I hear this it reminds me of it :). Just thought I'd share it.. :)
Mumford and Dragons I'm from dublin 😃
You're thinking of a place then ;). Btw mumford and sons is my fav band of all time. The war on drugs comes a close second
@@rishikeshwagh lol how'd your fund this comment?! Ye it's made up of them and Imagine Dragons.
Getting a mad 80's vibe. I really dig it :)
it is indeed because of that gated reverb
They will never ever have a hit as good as Red Eyes!
Greatest non-mainstream (although still kinda technically mainstream) band in probably at least the last 20 years.
There is definitely something in certain combinations of sounds that create a nostalgic mood on people. It doesn’t matter if the song is recent.
Correct!!!
I love this song so much it makes my stomach hurt. Like when you fall in love with someone.
Couldnt have said it better
Margot Bradley
I don’t get the falling in love vibe personally but I totally understand what you mean 😂👍🏻❤️.
@@stanettiels7367 yea what does love feel like?
with every song!
hey you're beautiful just in what you said keep livin (; we appreciate it and need more love in this world good luck to you! love you too

Out of the fire, into the frying pan!
this song is absolutely amazing!
The C.I.A. is in charge of the drug bussiness in Mexico, not the Cartels.
I think alcoholic depressed clown would have made a great addition to any band!
the most realistic act there
This is the real deal. Love it: happy, sad, confused and clear. What a ride! I adore artists that can touch the human nerve like this.
More please...
one of the best alternative rock songs of all time. Top 10
This song is tubular man!
I'm geeking over Lost in the Dream album this evening! The War On Drugs is so amazing. It's impeccable.
Give the album a listen beginning to end.

Tasha Cottam best band of the last decade easy!
Gotta get A Deeper Understanding of what it’s like to be Lost In The Dream :)
I just found this band and damn this is music that I wish I had in my life 10 years ago. Well as they say better late than never. Awesomeness!
11 million views, nice! I'm glad they're finally getting the recognition they deserve
I discovered this band recently, and I LOVE them. Their music stirs your body, and yet calms your soul. Incredible! 💎
Welcome, my friend!
Enjoy yourself while discovering one song after another.
In a way, I envy you because you're enjoying a kind of ecstacy while listening to a TWOD song for the first time.
I did have that experience several times, but what I wouldn't give in order to experience the same kind of bliss again and again.
Take care. Cheers!
Music holds a special power… don’t ever forget that
Probably the best song ever written. Sounds so beautiful that you can forget about all the troubles in this world!!! Superb song 😊.
Same to me 🙏
try gerry_cinnamon-sometimes
Quite similar. nothing super special but both nice.
Apart from hey moon the John maus version..
So fine to be alive for many reasons. Music is one of the most stimulating reasons for sure. Finding this was as sweet as finding anything else from my youth. It's weirdly like something I've heard before but probably better. The 70s influences marinate this band.
Beautifully crafted music. Lyrically and melodically complex. Gorgeous structure with good verse variety. Eff'n Rock and Roll. Mark Knopfler would be proud...
I could never get tired of this song. Thanks FH2 for introducing me to The War on Drugs!
Finally someone from FH2
What a great band! Blasting this on the highway on the way home from work a friday afternoon.
When you start to thing there is no more good music, you find this! Great song!
Zlatko C when you start to think this go on youtube liste your favourite bands and see what its recommending you....thats how it ALWAYS works with me. Otherwise stay open minded, that helped me a lot too :D
Best kept secret - Neko Case
Don't be silly , there's an absolute endless of supply of good music out there
I love absolutely every song this band plays.
This is one of those songs that awakens an extreme sense of nostalgia in me..
This song is the best thing I have heard in a long time. It lifts me and allows me to let things go with ease. Beautiful ❤️
Music holds a special power don’t ever forget that
This song lets me escape from my past and be strong for the future!
Halt and Catch Fire brought me here.
I keep coming back to this bad boi.
Vibing to this in 2024
this band is such a good presence in music these days
There are so many artists, styles and songs within a single TWOD song that it's insanely mindblowing ...TWOD is probably the best thing that happened to music in the 21th century.
This heavily makes me think of Mark Knopfler and Big Country.
I actually feel a Moody Blues influence in some of their songs, from back when the Moodies were good.
This song sounds like something you'd hear in a dream
Fantastic song to travel the world. YEAH!
Ver a The War On Drugs en vivo y escuchar esta canción es una necesidad que debo satisfacer.
X2
I saw them live in Berlin just a few weeks ago. Oh my, it was so good, the first concert in ages, the sound and light was perfect, and so was the band. totally lost it when Red Eyes played. thanks for that great experience.
I still haven't found a name of the place these guys take me and how it reminds me that I'm actually alive plus life is still worth living.......
When this song kicks in … it’s heaven ❤
This sound makes me long for life substance. Like the feeling you get after a genuine conversation with a complete stranger.
Am I the only one that acknowledges this band as "best ever"?
871 people don't know good song writing. This is a gem.
I don't know what is about this song, specifically, but there is an almost unidentifiable quality to it that makes me think of growing up. It's like a coming-of-age tale in sound.
This is just a great great great song. Its a keeper, forever! Im totally sold. Thanks guys!
I must have listened to this song over 100 times now... killer song.
This was great to see live in Cville.
You forget songs and tracks all the time. And then by surprise you run into one of those again. Played on Concertzender's Popart. Now I'm 67 and I heard so so so so much music since I was 10 years old. Well, but, this is one of the most most most beautiful songs I know. It has everything. It breaks my heart and wets my eyes. Again.
p.s don't don't watch any video listening to this. Take it pure.
One of the best songs I've heard in a long time. Love it!!!!
That kid was having the time of his life, So lucky
That little kid is one of Charlie Hall's real sons. He does a fantastic job of portraying a younger Adam. Charlie's boy doesn't fall far from the tree as far as enthusiasm goes!! NICE......!
Thank you dale steyn!
Thank you for putting out this video. Much love
This song brings about feeling that are bittersweet but I love it! Great song, great band!
