+Alex Jones No man I totally agree with you. This lead singer brought me back to where music was real. Hes a cross between Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. Your not exaggerating at all, I think this song beautiful.
It's a sped-up, less acoustic (and weaker) version of like... half of John Cougar Mellencamp's discography. Take a listen to "Crumblin' Down" by JCM, then listen to this.
The first time I heard this song, it was my daughter’s 21st birthday. We were at her house with masks on, instead of going to dinner as we’d originally planned. My older daughter was cutting off my 21yo’s waist-length hair, because she had just started chemotherapy for stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. My daughter’s boyfriend had this album playing in the background, and I tuned in after a little bit of 🌱, and he and I talked about the music and the cool screensaver on their TV, while I tried to forget worrying about my daughter battling cancer. She had her last treatment the day before Thanksgiving, and that weekend she moved to Salt Lake City with her boyfriend. Her last scan showed up clear! For Christmas they bought me a ticket to see The War on Drugs in Salt Lake this Feb. We’ve come full circle. This song means a lot to me, because I had it on repeat so much while she was going through chemotherapy. Sorry for the ramble. I get pretty sentimental after a little 🌱. May delete later if this ends up embarrassing
As far as 21st century rock music goes, you honestly won't here a better riff than this. It's roaring but emotional at the same time - so, so difficult to create something like this. An absolute masterpiece

Like the city lights were poetic and depressing. A few years later, we saw each other again, and we both knew it would be the last time. Whenever I hear this song, I just remember that feeling of urgency in love that you can only have in youth, like this is it babe, this is all we have, let's run.

I'm 47 and continually surprised to find great music from artists I had never heard of, as well as rediscovering stuff that I had known about for years but which had not really resonated with me before. TWOD is definitely in that latter category; funny how taste changes over time, as we grow. Keep listening, a lifetime isn't enough to enjoy all the great sounds the world produces.
This is one of my favorite songs in the world. Every time I hear it, I just want to cry. When I was a little younger, I used to here this song with my dad. This song brings back many childhood memories.
I listen to this song, usually when I feel like I made a breakthrough in something, and this song really embodies that feeling for me. When It's going through that chorus, I feel like there is limitless potential. If this is also your favorite song, ever, then you have greaaat taste!
I'd never heard of this band until I saw them on the TV at Glastonbury. I was mesmerised. I could listen to them for hours. Their music is so hypnotic and uplifting. This song is a masterpiece and will be played over and over and over.
This song brings me back to last summer, driving down this long winding road with my boyfriend, just looking at the river and all of the nature. It was amazing and will always be one of my favorite memories I will keep forever
+SarrXO XO Great memory. I first heard this track driving to Magnaball in August (a Phish festival) near the Finger Lakes. We got there at 5am at sunrise as all the mist started to break in the valley. It heightened our anticipation and felt like a great soundtrack.
Was listening to this on a train, I hadspent all day wandering around in the rain and I was exhausted. I was falling asleep and this whole album has such an amazing dream like quality I felt like I was being carried along and didn't really want to reach my destination.
My Grade 6 teacher always used to play music when we were working. Every time this song came on I would stop working and take five minutes to listen. I still come back to do the same these days, such a good song.
This is my fiance's and my song. She's pregnant now,and soon when our daughter is born, this is what she'll b listening to while she is growing up.and all stuff of The War On Drugs 😁
The first time I heard this song was last winter. That week was when my dog passed away. And this song helped me get through that time. Beautiful song.
I'm a hard rock kinda guy but I pressed play on deezer for this album and yeah...I get it. It's everything my dad listened to when I was young wrapped up into one album. Sounds great and I think his band will be the biggest band on the planet in the next 10 years.....

Just turned on a friend who's been on a very hard luck streak and we just reconnected; he's blown away by them and just sent him this song. Stoked that it's hitting his heart. Music can truly transform us.
When I initially started listening to this band I couldn't make out the singers words but after listening to enough of their songs it's gotten to a point where I have adjusted and can understand.
TWOD wears their influences on their sleeve, and I could care less as long as the music is good. Great new album, it has the classic rock road trip feel I need more of.
First heard this on Halt and Catch Fire, but it opened the door to the band’s incredible discography. But…I think this will forever be my favorite of theirs. Highly recommend Halt and Catch Fire for those who haven’t seen it by the way!

Oh my goodness! That guitar hook at 1:48 is insane!! LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SONG!!
This is SO good. It's like Springsteen and The National blend together to an even more magnificent sound.
I always imagine Springsteen doing the melody. That "Ooooh" would be so powerful from him.
Yep it’s a little Springsteen
Only 10 seconds in, and already I can tell ai'm gonna love this band

Come and see
Where I witness everything
On my knees
You beat it down to get to my soul
Against my will
Anyone could tell us you're coming
But baby, don't mind
Leave it on the line, leave it hanging on a rail
Come and ride away

Surrounded by the night, and you don't give in

Losing every time but I don't know where

So ride the heat wherever it goes

Don't wanna let the dark night cover my soul
Well, you can see it through the darkness coming my way
Well, we won't get lost inside it all again

No one sees me right here waiting
They don't mind, they don't hear, I can hear
Throw the big weight of your mind against it
I would keep you here, but I can't
Oh, I'm trying to see the right, the right way
