I wish every character had a different campaign. As bad as DMC2 is, at least Dante and Lucia are separate. I don't care for playing as Nero or V, yet you're forced to play as them in 4 (Nero's 0K in 4 at least) and 5

I think you should give the guns more of a chance. Ricoshot is an awesome charge shot that can stick enemies in place and also hit multiple enemies at the same time. You can also time a buff to the shot that makes it do more damage. Inverse rainstorm is also a cool move that can brings you into the air while juggling an enemy, but it also can be cancelled into moves like Calbur and the Arbiter’s air drop. I played the reboot this year, having been a long time fan who 100%'d the rest of the series a few years back, and being curious about the game esp since DMC5 existing meant it no longer made me bitter. It was decent! Not the same combo potential as DMC3-5, and I do prefer even DMC1 over it just because classic Dante, but hey, it's a good stylish action game in the end. At least, it's not DMC2. As dmc fan who played the first dmc, didn't finished 2, had hella fun with 3, 4, and 5, I really loved the reboot it's such a unique game, it captured the setting pretty well which is 2013. The reboot is up there among the dmc games I enjoyed.
I would have loved this game, (or at least the gameplay and shit) if they didn't take away one of things I liked about Dante; his humanity. Like, making Eva an angel kinda ruins the whole *Sparda-took-up-his-sword-for-the-sake-of-mankind-and-his-love* and would ruin Dante's motivation for saying that humans are stronger than you think.
I think Dante not being a human works for the story of the reboot. Dante not being a human yet still being able to feel the need to protect them hits hard for me. I personally also like how Dante not being a human adds to the “outcast” vibe of his character. It makes sense that he would have trust issues and be a lone wolf like he is in the beginning with this.
@@Me-jf2oo Fair point, and I will admit, it's just a personal bugaboo of mine. I just prefer the Dante where part of him is human, thus he knows that humanity can be strong, yanno? But I must say: I would play this game any day and everyday for the rest of my life IF my ONLY other option was DMC2 LOL
I'm good thank you for asking! I also understand your points, level design I was more talking about the colorful interesting appearance of the world more than actual level design and I actually like the Ost's by Noisia & Combichrist (even tho it's no DMC3 or 5!). @@Me-jf2ooTrue, I love both DmC and DMC 5 but I must say DmC has better level design than DMC 5. It's one of the things I wish Capcom bought into the main series, because I think most of the locations in 5 aren't that interesting compared to what came before
Coming from a genuine fan of DmC: Devil May Cry, I gotta agree that it's incredibly edgy. It's dumb, pizza cutter (all edge, no point) fun and I love it for what it is. One point I would maybe be inclined to defend would be the intro, showing "Dante" partying. It's definitely generic angst, but I think from a certain angle it could be argued as a blatant display of how self destructive the guy is? Maybe a carry over from when the the game seemed to be a darker story? This game definitely would have better received with changed names and a different title, leave the rest the same and it wouldn't have gotten nearly as much hate.
I never played the remake so thanks for making it so I don't have to. Steve kinda looks like the guy from prototype though. You ever play that? If not, you should.
I believe this game is about the teenage period of dante and Vergil before they get their devil trigger from which we start as dmc 3 The only thing that is weird to me is that eve was supposed to be human in original story but also in dmc5 we see nero with angel breed trigger So their might be some genetic regarding how he got this power and this may also prove that eve was actually angel

If talking about definitive edition, yeah. If base version then DMC4 is still better than reboot but only by a hair. Top 3 games are definitely 1, 3 and 5
Hard disagree on dmc4: for its time it was way too good, only downside was revisiting everything with dante, sure, but mechanics wise it was insanely superior to anything similar. I would give it a 7/10 at best even with a different name
Oh no don't get me wrong I love DMC4 like alot I have no problem with the game however in alot of aspects the game feels unfinished and Neros gameplay to some feels like he is lacking something. But I do really love that game It's one of my favorites
So i played this day one when it first came out, and the definitive edition as well on ps4. Being a huge devil may cry fan i thought it looked interesting enough to try it out. The demo for the game sold me on the combat instantly fell in love with the combos basically trying to infinite air juggle witch you can do pretty easily with the angel scythe. i platinumed the game got SSS rank on every level every difficulty just because the combat was so fun. That being said i completely agree with damn near everything in this video. The characters sucked story sucked, but the environments were really cool with how things changed and moved around you in limbo. The two grappling hooks made the traversal really smooth and flow very well. I even had the same thought that if it wasn't called DMC it would have been better received by fans, but ultimately probably wouldn't have sold as well without the brand recognition. I really wanted a sequel it could have been great, but oh man DMC5 is the holy grail of stylish action the series is known for. In the end i think both could have existed and been great but not both in the DMC franchise.

In the commercials no, but in the game I actually prefer DMC's Dante's looks rather than Devil May Cry Dante's looks, especially his hair style. I'm not a fan of original Dante's hair style. As far as his personality goes, you hit the nail on the head. He's either bland or just an ass. If he had his looks with original Dante's personality just chef's kiss. I also really liked the opening sequence. A sexually active Dante? Fuck yeah! It was both sexy and hilarious. Now that I really think about it, Devil May Cry 5 Nero is basically a combination of this Dante and original Dante, both looks and personality wise, which probably why I like him so much. Also, I actually laughed at the dick joke Vergil made. Just about the only joke I found funny in the game. The fact that I could never imagine original Vergil making that joke makes even funnier.
That's the issue with DmC, the gameplay is NOW awesome (not as good as DMC 3-5 though). But you playing the Definitive Edition nowadays is not representative of the experience every DMC fan had back when it released. It was awful. -You had no lockon -The color coded enemies would be undamagable without the proper weapontype. So if they were part of a mob, you LITERALLY couldn't combo the group due to there being color coded enemies -Consoles were locked at 30 FPS -There was a major balancing issue. The biggest offender was the devil dodge, which would boost your damage output so much, that you could kill bosses in less than a minute BONUS: Vergil had a Fedora And these are only the combat issues, we're not even getting started on the story, design choices and overall mess this game ended up being. Sure nowadays you can play it and have fun, but back then? Coming from DMC3&4? Nah that game just stank

Also the original DmC 2013 had two dodge bottoms for some reason. That extra dodge button could have been used for some like royal guard if Ninja Theory were committed to no lock on. And the lack of a taunt button for Donte is lame(even his version in PlayStation all stars had a taunt button). Game could have been handled a lot better.
