Ohhh man, you're in for it now!
    - If you don't know yet, when you're pinned like at 8:51, mash the face buttons to break loose.
    - When you inevitably upgrade the Lunar, it actually has *two* Ultimate Techniques: the traditional hold-Y and a "360-Y," in which you rotate the left thumbstick and hold Y.
    - For some strange reason, Sigma 2 gatekeeps your weapon upgrades. You can only level-up one weapon at a time at the blue Muramasa statues; the yellow statues are only for buying items.
    - You'll get a free Talisman of Rebirth in chapter 4. If you think you can make it, you can save your essence, but the weapon upgrades I mentioned *don't* cost money, so there's no real reason to bank any.
    - Don't pass up the Falcon's Talons in chapter 2! They're an absolute blast!

Its not censored. There is literally a mechanic in this game dedicated to eliminations and gore. And also enemies will literally fight you with one are or leg. And u literally stand still to splash the blood off your weapon. I know its a popular talking point but plz dont regurgitate false news bc others did the same for likes.

My boi's getting into Obliteration Techniques now (Also called OTs)! They're the insta-kills you were doing on the de-limbed enemies and the bosses when they ran low on health. They're basically a continuation of the technique you could do in the previous one where pressing the heavy attack button (Triangle on PS, Y on Xbox, X on Switch) near an enemy on the ground made Ryu slap 'em with your weapon for massive damage and insta-kills. Techniques with cinematics like those are always invincible, and great combo enders! As you've noticed, rolling is gone in this game and they've replaced it with sliding. Sliding isn't as OP with i-frames as the roll, but it's very fluid and doesn't suck like the backflip that Sigma 1 introduced to that game...thankfully, Sigma 1 added that to the game and KEPT it so that future games didn't have it. Ninja Gaiden '04 and Ninja Gaiden Black still have the best iteration of that type of dodge function for defense purposes, but the fluidity of Ninja Gaiden 2 and Sigma 2's slide cannot be overstated. Also, glad to see you trying to implement the roll-jump! I watched the whole video BEFORE commenting, so seeing you do that against the boss at the end was satisfying, lol. This story does continue a lot of plot points from the first game; you were actually just getting into the fiends when you stopped, basically, as that was what the red & black dragons and that tentacle boss that swallowed Rachel were. This game does sort of tell a story with the same setup as the previous game, but you'll see the stakes are more immediately raised as opposed to the pseudo slow-burn of the first game (another apt comparison to Resident Evil, lol). You'll also come to see Ryu's dad in this game, who's the true leader of the village! ^^
I am excited to see you return to Sigma 1, but heck, I like you enough that I'll also watch this! Genuinely happy to just see you enjoying these, lol. If you have an Xbox, it's worth it to get the original version of this game (Ninja Gaiden II from 2008, not the NES one). If you think THIS game is art, the OG version is waaaay less censored and makes all the blood, gore, and bodies it has straight up look like glorious dashes of ink paint splashed all over the place. So sad that it's still an Xbox-exclusive after all these years, lol.

      @ToshisGarden 9 месяцев назад

@AwkwardJump Absolutely worth it! There aren't as many weapons or playable characters, but the carnage of the original alone makes it worth it. Hopefully playing it on a newer system will also improve the performance issues it has on 360 as well, but I've never known if it does or doesn't. That said, Razor's Edge would also be a treat in that regard!

Hyddracubus can generally be killed by using Flying Swallow on its tentacles when they're not flailing. Once it loses both, it becomes entirely vulnerable while it regenerates them. It's a little odd, as it's the only one to do something like that, but I thought it was worth noting if, hopefully, you go back to it later on.
I did go on to play 2 and 3 when they came out, but I tend to prefer the style of the 1st game's combat. I like the recurring bosses in both 2 and 3 though. :) NG2 has a goofy story, but a lot of nice weapons to find.

Ninja Gaiden 2 is where the series peaked. The best weapons and gore, especially the original. You're gonna have a lot more fun with this one because it improves on everything the right way.
Also that hentai monster in NG1, it's a gimmick boss in a sense. Gotta take both arms off so you can hit the main body. Keep the NG content coming!

  • @jurtheorc8117

Would be lying if i said i wasn't excited to see you try out NG2, and it came a whole lot sooner than i could've expected! 'Tis nice to see this video pop up this late for me, helps make a fun end to the day.
"You're a ninja, not a clown" it would've been worse if clown ninjas entered the equation.
I recently looked up some reviews of the Ninja Gaiden games again (and only looked at the comments) and it seems that people are quite split on the Sigma versions of 1 and 2 versus the base versions.
If i remember correctly, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is easier than base NG2, but also has a dumb upgrade system where you need a special currency you can only find in specific locations or instances, instead of saving up normal currency. So if you'd want to upgrade all your weapons, you may not get to do it in a single playthrough.
The charge attack was quite overpowered too if i remember correctly-- or at least, i've seen people complain about how it's an easy dominant strategy. Even though i've now given you this knowledge, i'd love to see you give all weapons in this game --and there are quite a lot-- their chance to shine.
NGS2 is also much lighter on the gore than base NG2.
The differences between mainline installments and their different versions in the Ninja Gaiden series seems to be on the road to rival Rayman and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Doesn't *quite* reach that, but the changes are substantial.
To clarify, in Forgotten Sand's instance, four different games for four different consoles were developed with the same title.
On the notion of the weapons: i personally find this game's version of the Lunar Staff quite interesting for reasons as of yet unseen. I'll not say exactly why that is yet, though.
All that said, wish you fun in the games going forward, and have a good one. And please don't notice that i had an associate steal your refrigerator while you weren't looking.

The reason why you can't go to the blacksmith yet is because Sigma 2 changed how the upgrade system works from base NG2. In this game you can only upgrade at specific Muramasa's shops. You will recognize them because they will emit a blue light instead of yellow. You will find your first one at the beginning of chapter 2.
You can upgrade your weapons for free, but you can only do one at a time, and you cannot upgrade your weapons to level 3 until you reach chapter 10. Whereas in base NG2, you can upgrade your weapons whenever you want, but they cost essence to do so.
In my opinion, the system was better in base NG2. It lets you upgrade whenever you can, while Sigma 2 gates you to level 2 until CH10, and makes yellow essence basically a redundant currency. I guess the Sigma team wanted it to work similar to Black/Sigma 1, but it fails. For one, there are people who couldn't max out all their weapons at the last blue shop because they upgraded the Dragon Sword and the Dual Katanas (yes they return in this game) beforehand. These weapons automatically go to level 4 at some point in the story, even if you kept them at 1. You must avoid upgrading them if you want everything to be maxed out, there are simply not enough blue shops for that. Yeah the system wasn't well thought out.
Meanwhile in NG2, I had 3 of the weapons maxed out to 3 by the end of chapter 4. I am on new game plus, I have 500K essence with everything maxed out, and still feel the need to watch how to spend them, because refilling items up is somewhat costly on Master Ninja difficulty. Meanwhile in Sigma 2, by the end of the game you will probably rack up around 300K essence, with nothing to spend them on. Not only that, but the more Crystal Skulls you pick up, the less the items will cost. On my Master Ninja playthrough, I probably refilled maybe 2 times in the whole game. At this point you have to wonder why is yellow essence still in the game?🤷‍♀
At least, Sigma 2 has chapter challenge, where you can start with everything maxed out. You can also choose a chapter to play without going back to the beginning of the game. You can also do that on base NG2, but it has no chapter selection.

I love the Falcon Talons combos. One combo I love to do is XX>X, BBB, A+X, YXY. I'm confident I can do a Falcon only run on base NG2, on MN. I will try that soon.

I need to play NG2 OG. I played Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Sigma 2 back in my PS3 days and loved em', but I've always wondered how good NG2 OG was I'm comparison.
Haven't had a working Xbox in years so emulation it is

    • @sayaneechan5799
      @sayaneechan5799 9 месяцев назад

@aninfinitemindofmusicandreams there quite some differences between the 2.
Wall of text ahead, you've been warned:
For one, OG2 has much more blood and gore.
When you delimb an enemy, their limbs stay on the ground, and blood just sprays all over the place. On Sigma 2, that fountain of blood was replaced by a purple spray, and limbs no longer stay on the ground. This means that the Werewolves cannot throw the limbs of their fallen comrades at you anymore. The blood that falls on the ground was also reduced.
Cutscenes were also censored in Sigma 2. For one, at 2:06 you can see Ryu stabbing the IS ninja in the back. The ninja just falls to the ground, while on OG2 you can literally see his body splitting apart.
The upgrade system is also different, but I already explained that in my og comment so I won't repeat myself.
Sigma 2 also has much less enemies compared to OG2. This is was because apparently, the PS3 could not handle that many enemies on the screen. So they opted to reduce the enemies, but give them higher health and lower delimb rates.
Well, not that the X360 did much better, since at times the frame rate dipped at like 10 FPS due to so many enemies. It's not an issue on modern consoles luckily.
That said, I've read on a reddit post that the enemy count on OG2 is at around 4600, while Sigma 2 has around 1500. Again not sure if this is accurate but I wouldn't be surprised if it is.
Master Ninja difficulty is also wildly different. On Sigma 2, the enemies are less aggressive, and lower in numbers. However, they deal more damage and have higher health. Their grabs will instantly kill you, especially in the earlier chapters. Still, you can style on the enemies a bit if you want.
On OG2, the enemies deal much less damage, and their are easier to delimb. However, be prepared to have your @$$ lit up 24/7. Not joking. You literally have to learn the fastest delimb moves (examples: Falcon Talons' >YY or Lunar's XX), learn how to stay in i-frames (dash, guillotine throw, delimb control and control the spawns, OTs, do UTs and so on) the game is just insane.
Many bosses also have minions with them, while in Sigma 2 they were largely removed.
You can Izuna Drop Genshin in Sigma 2. Not on OG2.
Sigma 2 has an additional weapon, the Enma's Fang. It was not present on OG2. Sigma 2 also has 3 additional chapters with Momiji, Rachel and Ayane.
Sigma 2 removed the water combat. This is good in my opinion. Try to fight the explosive Jellyfish on OG2 and try not to tell me they're an effin' CHORE to fight.
Sigma 2 removed the Ultimate Techniques from the ranged weapons, ie, Bow, Incendiary Shuriken, Boomerang. The last 2 weapons were removed altogether, while with the Bow, you can actually move around while shooting. You have infinite arrows now, to compensate the lack of UT. On OG2 they were chargeable but you could only carry 30 at a time. Sigma 2 also added the Howling Cannon.
In Sigma 2, the Life of the Gods, Life of the Thousand Gods and Spirit of the Devil items are automatically used on pickup, while on OG 2, you could store them and use them for later. The LotTG not only increases your max health, but also heals you completely. The SotD not only adds a ninpo slot, but also refills your other slots completely, should they be empty.
Even so, I think you can do without all that in Sigma 2. On OG2, I save them up for specific fights.
A few of the bosses were replaced by others. The statue in chapter 1 was completely absent from OG2.
The Worm boss was completely cut out from Sigma 2. This is also good 'cause it was a terrible fight on OG2.
Sigma 2 removed the Tests of Valor. Not sure how to feel about it. I had no problem doing them on Warrior or Mentor on OG2, but on MN some of them were just obnoxious to do. In my MN run, I only completed those of chapter 3, 4 and 7.
The secondary missions, well, I haven't played those on OG2 in a long while, so I can't express an opinion on these. On Sigma 2, they are co-op missions. Back in the PS3, you could play those with another player. On the Master Collection, this was removed, so now you have to do with the bot. To compensate, they made the missions a bit more doable. However I hear that a few are still a pain, particularly Mentor 03.
Sigma 2 also has Ninja Race mode.
On OG2, there were achievements that required you to complete the game by using one melee weapon only. This goes for all weapons, meaning you have to complete the game at least 8 other separate times.
On Sigma 2, these achievements were changed. Now you only need to defeat 1000 enemies with each weapon. I think this is better if you ask me.
      OG2 has some other issues.
On Master Ninja, I had the boss of chapter 3 glitching out of the map. I tried to mess around with that, I thought if I waited long enough he'd fall into oblivion and die. But I guess not. Sometimes the camera goes crazy and you can see the whole perimeter of the map. But without that the boss is still annoying to fight.
The are some glitched worms in chapter 10. They literally spawn above ground, and then disappear. Spawn again, then disappear again. Rinse and repeat. Idk about you but this genuinely hurts my eyes. This was fixed in Sigma 2.
I also found the camera against Zedonius to be totally uncooperative. I legit died more times because of the garbage camera than anything else.
Open the quick menu, go to another weapon and press A+B. Congrats, now you're invincible, but you can only use the guillotine throw. Use this glitch right and you can trivialize the whole game. I only use it to skip the Jellyfish. Such a bore to fight 🤷‍♀
This glitch won't work on Sigma 2.
Regarding the outfits, I love all Shadow Walker ones from OG2. My favourite one is the green one, but I love them all.
I also have the Biometal ones, the black and red being my favourite. I don't have the Fiend pack but I will get it also somewhere down the line. I wish those were in Sigma 2.

That is truly one of the largest replies I've ever read. Top ten biggest ones on RUclips for sure. I almost feel guilty for not replying back with an equally large reply but you've convinced me that checking out 2 is worth it over replaying Sigma 2 again. I almost splurged money on the Master Ninja Collection on Steam or PS5 but I suppose I'm better off just emulating NG2. I also understand Sigma 1 was somehow inferior to NG Black for similar reasons.
Seriously, appreciate the reply. You're obviously an NG aficionado. It's a shame us PlayStation players had the inferior version in many regards. And even worse is that NG2 OG didn't get ported. They actually could have made a completely new version with the gore of NG2 with some of the QOL improvements of Sigma 2 but I suppose that would take too much effort on the devs part. The newer consoles would have probably done fine with running with higher enemy counts and pools of blood again. I understand the 360 version struggled quite a bit with the number of enemies which is why the PS3 had a downgrade in enemy count.

As you've noticed, you are suuuuper happy when you respawn back in the boss arena when you die. This is wayyyyyyy better than dying and going back to a save point and having to go back to the boss arena like in dark souls.
Also, no more backtracking, no more key items, and no more resident evil-like level design. These levels are LINEAR and it's ALL ABOUT COMBAT. You're soooo gonna love this one since it's the best/Ninja Gaiden entry to start the games.
