Fantastic tutorial! One of the things that bugs me most about the Macfarlane figures is the rubber capes so I'm gonna try this for sure! Can't wait to see the shots you get with this guy!
Very cool tutorial. Thanks for posting! The part where you were drilling into his collar bone horrified me because if that drill bit slipped it was going right into your thumb. Thanks again though and I think I've said it before but if not, you have totally inspired me in this hobby. You're always the first person I tag in my posts because I think you are the best and you introduced me into the hobby.
@@sirdork730 lol Im from California, In Vegas for the weekend. I seen one in a store at the mall yesterday for $22 so I picked him up real quick along with Red Robin 😁
Simple yet effective 👌 And where it's now a posable cape, any imperfections in the sewing actually adds to the pose. Well done! Batman losing an arm, typical McFarlane figure 😆 🤣
Awesome video man. I like the whole leaving wire at the end and drilling holes into his collar area. One of my greatest challenges with custom capes is how to attach them. Some of the Batman figures such as Arkham asylum, Keaton 1989, you can just put the entire cape under the neck of the cowl. Designs like tbis one, baffleck and others are much more intricate. Thanks for sharing this video. It’s very informative and helpful.
Awesome tutorial on how to make a custom cape! I'll have to try it with my Mandalorian figure since Hasbro is also guilty of using rubber for some of their figures' capes/cloaks/etc.
A tip for sewing while keeping a wire in place try using a safety pin make it less frustrating for you 😉 and dude your work is great don't worry about not being professional the fact that you're trying and pulling off something good is all that matters 😉 😀
Hey you could also bend the part of the wire in a circular shape so if you have a very sharp end of the wire you bend it and the layer is no longer broken by the edge :)
Not sure how this will translate into lego photography and figures but I will definitely give it a go! (even if I end up using paper because cloth is too big 😂) Nice tutorial! 👏🔥
Cool video, I've made a custom cape before for one of my little mini figures it was okay just to say I made it just a first time for my figures but this video gives me a better idea on how to make better custom made capes.thanks for this video
I used a pair of faux leather spandex tights, but I cant find them anymore at Walmart. I recommend a fabric adhesive like liquid stitch, it works great and stays rubery I have also experimented using it for rubberizing fabric.
For a possible video, could you explore maybe DIY-ing the duct tape accessory that comes pictured with the McFarlane Riddler figure but is not included. That would be so sick
Love it, dude. I was waiting for this and is just what i need. I wanted to do this on my figures too, thank you so much. 🙏 Greetings from Argentina. 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
Do you think that this would work with Gunpla, as well? Because I have these two fabrics that I picked up recently that I want to make into a custom flowing and poseable cape for one of my recent kitbashes. Also, wouldn't it be better to use a fabric glue instead of super glue?
This would absolutely work with gunpla! It’d probably look sick actually! And yeah fabric glue is also something that works well with the capes. You can probably get away with using glue instead of sewing!
I rather pay the extra money for a cause cape for McFarlane Toys I don't like the vile capes and you are right it does kind of effect the articulation cloth as a lot better
I wish that action figures with capes could have two pieces of cloth so that in between them he two pieces of cloth were a bunch of aluminum wires so you could pose the cape however you want, Idunno if it would work but I don’t see why it wouldn’t
I don't know why mcfarlane doesn't do more cloth capes. I have the year two batman and he comes with one and it looks great. I need to do this for my black series mandalorian since that plastic cape doesn't properly go around the jetpack.
Great video Jared, I may try and upgrade my Moff Gideon cape with some sewing now . I do have a little tutorial on my Mandomugshots IG account how to make a cape without wire using double sided sticky tape for those who really don’t fancy the needle and thread. 👍
Fantastic tutorial! One of the things that bugs me most about the Macfarlane figures is the rubber capes so I'm gonna try this for sure! Can't wait to see the shots you get with this guy!
Really appreciate it dude!! Good luck with the cape! It’s fun to make 😆
I hope they make more with cloth capes, They only have made one and it is a pretty good cape.
@@porko882 which one was that
Theres som mcfarlane figs that arent dc multiverse but have wired cloth

Love how you just rolled up and got one off the shelf, I've only seen 1 in real life and it was in a scalpers cart already 🙃
This was after searching many stores 😂😂
@@sirdork730 lol Im from California, In Vegas for the weekend. I seen one in a store at the mall yesterday for $22 so I picked him up real quick along with Red Robin 😁
Oh my god this is perfect timing! I just tore my Batman figure apart and still need to make a cape for him!
Simple yet effective 👌 And where it's now a posable cape, any imperfections in the sewing actually adds to the pose. Well done!

So glad you think so dude! Thanks!! And yeah that was definitely a surprise 🤣

Hey i appreciate it dude! So glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching 🙏
Thanks for the tutorial! Just finished up my wired cape for my three jokers Batman figure :)
That’s awesome!! Glad it was helpful!
Awesome idea, man. The vinyl look of the cape really nails it.
Brilliant work!! Thanks for the video! Helpful as always!
Thanks so much dude!!
I literally just found out about you through the Wonder World video/article. Good stuff.
Awesome!! Thanks so much for supporting!!
Awesome Cape tutorial man!!! 🤩 I didn’t think about drilling small holes to attach the cape, brilliant idea 💡
That was an excellent tutorial!! Ok, i'm off to make capes now!
Yes!! Can’t wait to see your cape!
@@sirdork730 is there a way to attach the cape without needing to drill holes?

I was just looking for a way to put capes on McFarlane batman figures and I see this was posted 4 hours ago so thanks
Great video and the cape looks awesome. Looking forward to the batman video next weekend!

Been waiting for this vid for a long time now
So glad to hear it! Thank you!!
That cape looks so awesome on batman it's better than the hard plastic
Thanks for the tutorial, but is there any way to prevent the fabric from fraying?
Not sure how this will translate into lego photography and figures but I will definitely give it a go! (even if I end up using paper because cloth is too big 😂) Nice tutorial! 👏🔥
If you want to, you could probably just sew two capes together, cut it to the shape, and put in some tiny tiny copper wire. Just an idea
I watched the BATMAN movie today it was GREAT I recommend it
It was AWESOME!
That great creativity right there 10/10

Batman action figures looks amazing but I probably won’t drill holes in my action figure but thank you for the tutorial
That is definitely not a necessity 😂 but it works well! Thanks for watching!!

I just may do that, actually, though use some sewing to reinforce it, as well. Might even try learning to use a sewing machine, too!
nice video dude it help me to custom my mando black series cape
I will definitely use this tutorial for that one into the spiderverse scene "spiderman doesnt wear a cape"
Hey partner. Fantastic video. Next time try using fabric glue and it will be much easier than sewing
Thank u for the help tip !!
Thanks for watching!!
What would you recommend if you don’t have a an exacto knife?
Any knife will work, but I recommend getting an exacto, they are cheap!
if you dont mind me asking which fabric did you use? i am trying to make a cape and follow this
It’s a black 4 way stretch vinyl! You can find it at Joann or Spandexworld.com
Luv your vids.
Thanks so much for watching!!

Congratulations! You made it to Your Daily Dose of Internet.
That thing with the arm popping off is literally the same thing that happened to me 😆
Oh man! 😂 hope you were able to pop it back in!
I wish they gave the option of plastic or soft goods capes.
I agree!!
Just earned a sub from me, well done awesome brother 🙌😊

Cape didn't work bro
Hi, I'm want to have my Rick and Morty action figure to have a cape and for the wiring which is good method, stitching or glueing?
My fingers hurt ....
Now your backs gonna hurt , landscaping duty for YOU LOL
Amazing reference! 😂😂😂 ⛳️
I wish that action figures with capes could have two pieces of cloth so that in between them he two pieces of cloth were a bunch of aluminum wires so you could pose the cape however you want, Idunno if it would work but I don’t see why it wouldn’t
But remember, Batmans cape in the movie never had that angular cutouts like a bats wings because the cape morphed into a wingsuit instead of a glider.
I only have one figure with a cape and I love to do this but it’s really not cost effective for me at this point
You can use an old Tshirt right? That's what I'm thinking of doing for my custom spawn lol
An old tshirt would work great!
thanks! Man
Thanks for watching!
I don't know why mcfarlane doesn't do more cloth capes. I have the year two batman and he comes with one and it looks great. I need to do this for my black series mandalorian since that plastic cape doesn't properly go around the jetpack.
I tried gluing instead of sewing. It changed the color a little but it works fine if it is not right next to the camera. Mando in beskar figure
Couldn’t you just super glue it all instead of sewing?
The superglue will freeze the fabric, just making it stiff.
Hey use some pins for it makes it easier
1:00 one doesn't simply pull off Batman's cape easily
Thanks I’m gonna get throne spawn but want him to have a cape without ruining either of my mk ones
Never seen someone destroy a box like that to open one of these lol
Sometimes when the box doesn’t cooperate 🤣🤣
Be careful when getting the mcfarlane batman, some times the belly area can be upside-down
can you do a THE BATMAN photo?
Yes!! A new THE BATMAN toy photography video dropping on Sunday!
Yes love this you can also slide that wire like in the general grievous cape. Great tutorial Jared!!! You the man!!!🤘🤙📸💥🙏🙏🙏
Ohh great idea! Thanks Lucan!!!
Thanks you sm I have modifing the Batman shf figuarts and honestly the original cape looks awful

Didn't work 😞. I bend the cape up wire just decides to fall back down
Personally I don’t like those plastic capes either. I tried not to faint as you drilled the Batman… 😂

poor choice of material. it stiff and doesn't flow properly like an actual cloth
People are NUTS They want anywhere from 30$ and up for figure capes No Thansk I just make my own

Hmmm. Id stick to toy photography
