Good morning Laura, I have been a long time subscriber and have never commented, but had to tell you today that you have helped me so much in my garden and you cheerful personality is wonderful, I just wanted to say thank you.
Exactly, i have been gardening most of my life, some fifty years, and I still get excited after watching Laura. You have helped my garden tremendously, thank you Garden Answer!
Yes! I’ve been watching Laura for YEARS and never commented but have been trying to make an effort to comment on every video lately to just help support her and show my appreciation!
Absolutely! Be careful with buying your first rose. I started with one a few years ago. I fell in love and now have 25 David Austin’s. I wish I had room for more. Happy planting! Happy spring!
@@SEALIGHTENED one of my favorite roses for old rose scent is actually not a David Austin. It is by Kordes named Savannah Sunbelt. You would have to google it for the color and shape. Some DA roses for scent would be Princess Alexandra of Kent, Jubilee Celebration, Lady Emma Hamilton, and Boscobel. Another amazing rose is Princess Charlene de Monaco, but she is not a DA rose. I love her so much, I have five PCde M’s. It is so hard to choose. I just added 4 more roses this year. It is just so fun! Happy planting!
Good morning! Loved seeing Samantha this morning. She seems like such a happy little girl. The west side garden has always been my favorite. Beautiful brick walkway, gorgeous planters and evergreens make it such a peaceful setting. A seating area is all that’s missing.
This morning I was watching all your videos on roses. Had to take my youngest to the doctor and while I was in with her my husband took the other kids to chick fil a. Well when he came back to get us he had a truck full of roses. They were redoing their landscaping and my husband rescued them for me! I am the proud owner of 6 knock out roses! Talk about meant to be! Thank you for all the videos! My 7 year old loves watching you too ❤️
The way your gardens have evolved so rapidly over the past few years show how easy and generally successful it is to move plants. Apparently, most of us struggle with even the idea of moving a plant, especially one that is well-established, for a variety of reasons. But, you are absolutely fearless and calm as you dig and move, dig and move, with more success than failure, giving us confidence to go ahead and try. Most plants can be replaced, so it's worth it to just dig it up and move it. All my hopes that your roses love their new homes. I bet they will. ~ Lisa PS - Samantha Grace is more of a ham than her brother. She has such a sparkly personality ✨🎇😎🎇✨
Perfect! I cut my roses back yesterday. I was scared to move them till you explained it could be done and why. You might think your content gets old, but I ALWAYS learn something. Thank you and bless you and your family for what you do.
Moving roses was fun BUT Samantha Grace at the end was the star of the show for me! reminded me of my little granddaughter at the age, so fun seeing her walking and exploring now, thanks for sharing Laura& Aaron!
Passion for gardening 😂😂😂😂 WELL if you were getting paid to garden you too would be fake ! You seriously think working in her mother's shop pays for all those plants and buying extra land ? While real people are out doing real jobs these two losers have no reason to hold down real jobs 😂😂😂😂 I'm sure her and her husband both don't have jobs unless they're dealing drugs !!!!
Laura, u make the most mundane jobs look like fun. Your very inspiring to say the least. Can't wait to get into my flower beds & start digging. Looking forward to seeing the Hartley start it's new faze & you doing your magic.
Who doesn't love Rose's? But I have to tell you, Iris are most favorite flower in the world, and seeing those huge clumps of Iris, where you dug out some Rose's, made my heart happy. The friend(s) who gets to come and take those are lucky indeed 💜
I love them too. I have a bunch and just keep collecting them. We had a very hard freeze after weeks of warm weather….so I am hoping I didn’t lose many blooms that were forming in the base. I enjoy seeing others who love irises too! They truly are treasures.
Aww, Samantha Grace was the grand finale!! She looks so much like Benjamin, such a precious little doll baby! Thank you for amother WONDERFUL informative video! 🌹🌹
Spring feels so good this year. Samantha Grace is very "sure-footed"; fun to watch her foot stomp with Benjamin in one of your Instagram pics. Benjamin is also at a fun age thinking things through and sharing his observations. These early years with children go by so fast.
Oh I can’t wait to see those all in bloom!! Sweet Samantha Grace, is so precious, I like seeing her enjoy her walks, and she doesn’t look like her Daddy, hahaha said NO ONE EVER!! 🌿🌷🌿
Wow, that was a lot of work...thats a 2 day project for this older girl!! I love the structure in that garden and watching the baby boxwoods grow up and claim their space it seems like just last season they were placed. Time to add roses to my garden!
I said to myself this morning, it's Monday and I am going to see new video from Laura, yay. You have some beautiful roses and they are going to look great planted along that brick walkway. Seeing Samantha with her Dad was just an added bonus, she is so cute and squealing in delight.
Samantha Grace what a cutie pie! I am SO glad I am not the only person moving irises and daffodils this time of year... my husband thinks I'm crazy when I move plants but you gotta do what you gotta do!
Laura you need boots hiking boots with ankle support when digging, incredible digging with tennis shoes though. Thank you for being true Light & Joy in an uncertain world.
Awww....Samantha Grace growing like a weed!! What a cutie!! Having a fun time in the garden!! It wont be long before shes helping mommy like Benjamin does!! 🌸🌺🌹💖
Excited to see today's transplants. I just got my David Austin Roses wish book on Saturday. Drooling! One thought: when you showed a clip of the original area outside, it made me miss it! I had dreamed of getting an opportunity to walk through the magical gardens on your property. But it's ok because I'm on board with anything and everything you do to your property. Another thought: in the middle of the night (last night) it came to me that I should have put the one lost pansy bloom (that had fallen off while planting) into silica granules to dry. Now WHO does that in the middle of the night?!!! Probably a GA Groupie. LOL!!! That bloom was big and purple and beautiful. And also, I just ran across the Frizzle Sizzle pansies at a garden center yesterday -- oh my how pretty! HAPPY SPRING, ALL!!!
I got behind on videos in Feb- March and have slowly been catching up on older ones while I watch the current ones. And wow to see how well things have grown in in between the urns in 2 months is impressive! I think the roses transplanted very well!
I have already ordered some roses 🌹 hopefully they’ll thrive . I love watching your videos they are so full of information and seeing Samantha sporting her shades is pretty adorable 😎. She’s gotten so big ! 🌸❤️🌸
I had to laugh at .45 when you said you were "trying to find a home for these rocks right now" I flashed back to Benjamin's "Big Problem" 😊 Good to know Chad will be there soon to resolve that😉 Have a great week everyone!🌹☕
I am so new to gardening and am very apprehensive to plant roses too soon. I'd love to see a more detailed video just on pruning the roses - you covered a lot of pruning in this video, so I think I have an idea. My struggle with digging up root balls and transplanting anything is digging the depth of the new hole correctly so that the surface of the transplanted root ball is the same as what it essentially was. Laura, you make it look so simple! You are such a motivator.
Roses are the singular plant i hate moving the most. I've always underestimated the depth of their roots and wind up doing so much damage. I swear by using mycorrhizal fungi around the transplant hole to aid root development. Good luck to those David Austins. They truly are the best going.
Just checking on Russell. I know he & Cheddar dont share space much but until recently Russell was almost always by Laura's feet/side as soon as the camera started rolling. I miss his "personality". Maybe he's just inside more? I hope he is okay.
Hi! Linda from Long Island here. My husband and I enjoy all of your videos and you have given us so many useful tips on gardening. The roses will be a beautiful addition to that part of your yard. Can’t wait to see the results.
Just so you guys know, i don't mind a 3 hr long garden tour or per zone garden tour. Just letting you guys know ahead of a time. I am sooo excited for your garden.
Laura, I feel like I know you forever. I totally know the feeling you get from gardening and doing things yourself. It’s heaven on earth. Aaron with Samantha Grace in matching 😎 had me 😂. You have a beautiful family!
I have been itching to plant and spring clean in my gardens!!! Here in north Mississippi the weather has been so crazy, 70 one day and 5 inches of snow the next 😳… yesterday I was finally able to get 2 of my beds cleaned, fertilized and put down a good layer of compost. Also, direct sowed some seeds for the first time EVER!!! 😍 wish me luck GA family!,
In the last two weeks I’ve had 4 new David Austin roses arrive from them directly, and I have one more that I bought last year! They perform so well!! Really excited to see all the blooms this year.
I just received 2 David Austin roses that I ordered directly from them too! I planted them this weekend, and I can't tell you how excited I am to see them grow!!!!
Hey look at that gorgeous HARTLEY!!! 😍 heehee Can not wait to see all the beautiful roses around the landscape with the beautiful GLASS GREENHOUSE in the background 😉
I have never been a formal garden fan, but girl this west side garden, especially the arb wall, speaks to me so much. I love the grandeur of the large pots and the presence of the straight, long walkway with those fluffy arbs magically blowing in the breeze... And mixed with the more cottagey feel you are aiming for laid right on top - that is going to be something wonderful to behold. I am just so excited to see it!
Nothing better than starting the day with Laura in the garden. I love the way that the sounds of the wind, the dogs barking in the neighborhood, planes flying overhead, the rumble of Aaron’s tractor comes through - - - makes it feel like we are actually sitting right there in the gentle sunshine with you - - - talking and enjoying the process. Baby-girl just grows cuter and cuter - - - could her sweet squeals be more charming! Thanks for sharing your joy with us! Happy growing season to you!
Oh goodness.. You’re jump starting my urge to get busy.. It is still sooo chilly here and my little crocus’ just bloomed yesterday.. I cannot wait to get in my dirt. Thank you Laura and Aaron for being an inspiration for all us to get out and get busy.. little Samantha is soooo cute. Goodness she is growing sooo fast. Say hi to little Benjamin.. be blessed.. 🕊🕊🕊
I love starting my day with you Laura! Watching your garden come alive is giving me hope… the roses will be beautiful in the new garden…spring is near! And that little girl squeal at the end was a bonus🤗
Good Morning from New Zealand to Laura, Aaron, kids, cats and GA Family. I have been a long time subscriber and I can say that, I owe my successes in our garden to this channel and the lovely comments from fellow GA Fans. Although I live on the other side of the world, with different seasons, I make time everyday to watch GA. I live in a Zone 10 and can grow our plants (tropical/sub tropical) with your teachings and helpful advice. I might even pick up some David Austin’s. Thank you and your videos are very much appreciated. 😊🌴🌿
I love watching this garden evolve. The bench and new tree will add a sweet spot to the end of the pathway; also to the entrance of your raised bed garden.
How many are jealous of the good garden dirt Laura has?? Man, I can only hope a shovel will eventually slide so easily into my garden! I’ve a lot of years amending before my clay-based soil gets there. Thanks for the detailed transplanting instructions!
🌹Good day to all! I know it will be a wonderful new week now that spring has officially arrived and Laura is transplanting roses to make way for progress on the Hartley. Thank you, Laura, for spreading the joy no matter what the season, and for making my cuppa taste extra good as I watch the sunrise and you! Enjoy a beautiful day everyone 💐🌝☕️
That soil and the way you cut right through with the shovel 😍 Hard Colorado clay and the million rocks someone added in the yard - that would take me a good hour to transplant one rose.
I never thought about the roots being exposed to the air for long periods of time shocking the roots. Some damp burlap might help. I was thinking the roses would go in the south garden but I absolutely love them around the urns. That is a more formal looking space and having the roses there is just perfect. Maybe it will be Aaron’s Rose Garden. Can you just see roses and urns with a border of lavender!
I do like the simplicity of the west garden. It could be your “rose garden” packed with all pastel roses with a ground cover to soften the edges of the brick pathway. Samantha is so cute ☺️
I'm not one to write much but, I had to....Samantha Grace is just beautiful. The love mom has for Samantha Grace was written all over her eyes. So sweet.
You are just a marvel. I’m so glad I’m too old to work that hard!😅. But, your tips for us, the Mid-ways, your enthusiasm, love and respect for your grounds, and your in depth understanding of where you are going, and what you are doing is an inspiration to any age, or stage of a Gardner! Thank you!❤️🔥
Free roses are the best roses 🤣 Hilarious how quickly Laura gave up on the careful digging out and instead prizing them off. But roses are so tough, they'll be fine.
It is so encouraging to see the bare root roses you planted doing so well and thriving! When you buy them as bare roots, do you typically have to plant them as soon as you bring them home? How many seasons does it typically take before they flower?
My bare root roses came and had instructions to soak them in a bucket if water to hydrate the roots. They did flower the first year but really take off the next year.
I planted 3 bare root roses as a Mom-orial in early November 2020. Two were planted in front, Northwest garden and get about 6-7 hours of sun in Summer. One didn't make it, but 3 feet away the other one sent up 1 branch and I got 3 flowers, the 2 wax covered branches just died. The one in a pot on my south facing patio had tons of flowers. I just pruned them 2 days ago. Ill give the one in front another season to send up more branches before moving to full 9 hour sun location in back.
The roses will be stunning with the arbs in the background. You need to pick up a pair of sunglasses for little miss adorable, Benjamin will be using his.
Laura, you are WONDERFUL! I have been SO inspired by you to 'get at this'. YOU were the cheerleader in my head last year to get things done. Whether my garden is great or not doesn't matter. I've learned more patience and to 'experiment' with my plants. Your family is a joy. Thank you for what you share with us all. God Bless you and yours.
Oh I would love to be able to come and dig out some plants from your garden. Your friends are so lucky. I admire your work a lot and I learned so much from you.
Hi Laura and Aaron! I hope your roses do well where you transplanted them. That will be really pretty. Samantha Grace is such a little ham, so cute! Thank you so much for sharing!

Looks like you're putting in your rose garden after all...in a sense. Looks like a great place, and the smells will be amazing when the blooms come!

Oh that is just what that spot needed, the roses will add to the formal look of that area
Congratulations on 1.5Million subscribers? 🎉🌿🌱🌸🌺🌼🌻
Thank you for another very informative video! I just planted my first David Austin roses yesterday - three of The Poet's Wife!
That soil and the way you cut right through with the shovel 😍 Hard Colorado
clay and the million rocks someone added in the yard - that would take me a good hour to transplant one rose.
The roses will be stunning there!!!!
Happy Spring 🌻🐣🌸
The little chirps and squeaks 😆 so cute.
I have been wanting to look into a few rose bushes and now I am excited to do it. Thank you, your gardens are beautiful.

Thank you, this was very helpful!
I love watching you work in your garden it makes me really look at mines great video
Thank you!❤️🔥
Free roses are the best roses 🤣
Hilarious how quickly Laura gave up on the careful digging out and instead prizing them off. But roses are so tough, they'll be fine.
I love to see Cheddar supervising the work.

New Year, New Spring, and Laura has a new pair of Vans to start it all with!!! Great video. Very informative!
The roses will be beautiful in front of the green hedge! Samantha in her brothers shades very cute!
Sweeeet! Just ordered a heap of David’s roses! Perfect timing for me Laura
Enjoy them! I love roses!

Samantha Grace is so cute. The roses will be so pretty in that section. I am like you I love roses and their wonderful fragrance. Thank you
It is so satisfying to think you have a plant to a spot where it will thrive. Your energy is so inspiring Laura!
That west garden is THE VERY BEST
Oh I would love to be able to come and dig out some plants from your garden. Your friends are so lucky. I admire your work a lot and I learned so much from you.
Hi Laura and Aaron! I hope your roses do well where you transplanted them. That will be really pretty. Samantha Grace is such a little ham, so cute! Thank you so much for sharing!
