My neighbors had a big beautiful 'yellow' growing between our houses. When I was little I asked her what that was and she told me it was for Cynthia. I didn't know who Cynthia was but thought she was pretty lucky for that. Lilacs and Forsythias have always been my favorites.
😂
That's great! The way we hear things as a child 😁
That’s a cute story, happy spring 😁
That’s precious! 💛💛💛
That is funny. Lucky Cynthia. LOL
Thank you for this Laura. I got my sister hooked on your channel last year. She had watched your new shrub list last year where you talked about the “baby Kim”, my sister had to have one in her garden for me, her baby sister.. She was able to get one and planted it and was so excited about it.. Unfortunately she passed away in December, but I have peace knowing her last time planting in her garden was a tribute to me.. If I never introduced her to your channel I’d never have that sweet memory and reflection of her deep love for me.. This video was a nice reminder of that. Thank you for the beauty you bring to this world, we appreciate you more than you’ll ever know..
What a beautiful memory. 💓 I'm sorry for your loss.
So sorry about your sister!
Dear Kym, What a beautiful person you are. I am so sorry for your loss of your sister love. Her memory is a blessing.
My deepest condolences to you on the passing of your sister. A sweet memory for you to have! I recently lost a third brother. :( Perhaps plant one in your garden to remember your sister. I have trees I’m planting in their memory in our yard.
💞
Good morning GA family, Laura and Aaron! I love the excitement in Laura’s voice in the spring!
Okay, but seeing the flower shed so close to being done in the background is so exciting! 🤩
I am still so amazed at how much you've done in the south garden in just 1 year!!! I mean WOW. Raw scrub to a beautifully designed space. I cant wait to see the west side and Hartley gardens develop this season too
Hey Laura..I have been enjoying your videos from last 4 years. And never missed any of your episode though we live in a very different climate than yours. Here we can't grow forsythia and lilacs but still watched the full video. Can't wait to see how beautiful your garden would be after few years. I'm very much excited to see it.
Finally, digging in the dirt and planting some bushes!! I can't wait to see what this season holds for us! I'm so excited! We have some forsythia that my husbands grandma planted that's probably 40+ years old. They are gorgeous!
Congrats on reaching one and a half million subscribers! So satisfying to see your auger twirling again!
Good morning, Laura ☕️. The Sugar Baby is on my list! Getting so excited to start planting 🙌🏻. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
I love forsythia and I honestly didn't know that there were different varieties. Learned something today. Good morning from Nebraska, after all the weird warm weather we are in a winter storm watch, lots of rain but expecting snow later. Brrr.
I love that people have developed forsythias that’s don’t take over the yard. I love their bright yellow blooms!
Woohoo!!! Planting season 🌱 is upon us!!! So ready for another amazing season! Can’t wait to see the Hartley area evolve this year! Thanks for all the amazing content you continue to provide!!!
💛🌱☀️💚
I think we're all chomping at the bit to get out in our gardens !!! HAPPY GARDENING EVERYONE
So exciting to see the planting begin, Laura. Perhaps you might experiment with those pussy willow cuttings to see if you can make more plants. The old varieties rooted very easily and could even be put right into the ground and would root. (With your soil and lack of rain would probably be better done in pots.). It would be an interesting experiment. I would suspect if you use some in spring containers they will root in. It would be interesting to see how much they would grow if the rooted cuttings were potted up. You do have some a bit of space left in the south garden for more plants. LOL. 🥰
I have had Red Twig Dogwood root in my summer pots and that makes sense the pussy willow may do the same. So cool!
It would probably be illegal, I’m thinking they are copyrighted plant varieties.
@@cynthiafisher9907 So long as you aren't selling them, no one will care. They own the genetics for retail purposes, so if you just allow a plant to reproduce how it wants by GROWING, which is why we buy plants in the first place, it's not a big deal as long as it's for personal use. Could you imagine buying a plant that naturally wants to grow and produce more of is self by clumping or something and then you get prosecuted because a plant you bought grew? It would be pretty unreasonable. Plants are supposed to grow.
@@thomasschrader8272 Yes, I know that. It’s just that this is such a public platform, I doubt Laura and Aaron would be willing to promote the idea.
@@thomasschrader8272 with the comment specifically saying cuttings it is important to note that a plant may be patented and thus be illegal, even for private use, to purposefully propagate. At least, that is my understanding. Until the patent expires.
Congrats on 1.5 million subscribers! I tell everyone I know about your channel. I've learned so much and so enjoy watching your property develop.
Greetings, Laura, from Sunny Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸
Your full-sun choices are of interest to me 👩🌾👍
Happy Gardening Everyone 🌿💚🌿
Ciao Laura 🤗😘🌷🌹🌺🌼🌸🏵️💐!!! Qui in Italia è ora di pranzo 🍝!!! Buona giornata, e grazie mille a Laura per i suoi bellissimi fiori e piante 😍!! 💪🏻🇮🇹
I've been binging your channel for almost 2 years and now I think I am ready to start trying to grow my own real garden. Thanks for all you've taught me! 🧡
Go for it!! You got this!
@@heatherw.2751 Thank you! I've been practicing along with watching, and I've definitely killed some things already, but I do my best not to, and I am ready to take this tour to the outside! 😂
Hey! Thanks for this one! I sent my sister a Bloomerang last year and it was so cool to see this video this morning! I shared it with her! I have a wreath of forsythia on my front door and I love the bright, fun, spring color!
Fabulous! When I was looking for one the teenager helping me called it "for Cynthia" which I have done ever since. ☺️ This is exciting! Let's get those trees in the ground! C'mon I'll help!
😂
As we head into winter in the southern hemisphere it's going to be amazing to watch the development of your garden in the north! So much to look forward to.
It must be so exciting to have such an abundant area of space to plant. I can tell by the excitement in your voice that you are thrilled. I would be as well! Thank you for sharing your journey!
Yes! Let the planting begin. I’m so looking forward to watching spring come alive out there. I completely agree with your lilac drift idea. You can’t just have one. They are too beautiful for just one and that spring scent cannot be beat. It’s a call to the pollinators “come one, come all- spring has begun!” 😊♥️
Good morning! Love the yellow blooms on the forsythia. That south garden is looking good.
God bless Laura and her family.l am addicted to your show xxxx
I have 2 forsythias for 4 years now and this year is the first year that it has blooms all over the plants. I look at my plants everyday and living it so much. I was amazed that the blooms last so long. Also by watching this video I finally know it’s name. Thank you…
Good evening to all the GA family from Australia 🇦🇺
I have learned so much from you!!! I started my flower beds in 2020 when COVID started and it has blossomed so much- I have experimented with so many new plants and I have fallen in love with plants!!! Outdoor plants though- inside I don’t have any luck with 🤦🏼♀️I need some help in that department 🤦🏼♀️😂
I'm exactly the same.
@@terrigray6044 it’s been such a joy I’m telling you!!!
Yay!!! Let the planting begin! 💚💛💛💛
Forsythia are pretty in bloom after a long winter but tend to get so big and take over and become an impenetrable tangle. As long as you have plenty of space, in time they make great rabbit shelter!
Spring planting…….. I’m so excited to see all the new plants and color.
I have been binge watching all your makeover and spring planting videos. They’re giving me so much energy!!
I just saw this video posted, and I’m so excited to see it but I have to wait till I get the kids in the bus!! 🤣 Let the Planting begin!! Love it!! ♥️♥️
I planted a bloomerang last year …can’t wait to see what it does this year!!!
Can't wait to see everything in bloom! Thanks, Laura! 🌿🌸🌿
That pussy willow is stunning. The church I grew up in gave out pussy willows instead of palms around Easter, so they're always a sign of Easter to me. My parents planted one in their yard years ago and it is a tree now. So beautiful!!!!
I bought one after the first video that Laura planted it. It’s a deer magnet. It is constantly being chewed on and probably coming out soon. 😅
Starts of my forsythia have traveled with me from house-to-house since the 1970s. They bloom very well even in the deep shade of mature trees.
Hello 👋 Marilyn how are you doing?
Glad to see the planting has begun!
I live in Mississippi now, and I’m from Maryland originally. I don’t think forsythia is all that inclined to naturalize in Mississippi but in maryland, oh, boy. I mean nothing is more beautiful than a ginormous natural border probably 10 feet tall of forsythia. Truly the most exciting plant in the garden because it just comes to life seemingly overnight in the way early spring certainly before any bulbs are really showing off. Maryland zone 7A, Mississippi zone 8A😁
You can tell the excitement you are feeling in your voice! Today I cleaned out one of my beds and saw so much popping through! This time of year is my favorite…. new growth and new beginnings! Thanks to you I’m getting to be a much better gardener. I look forward to sharing another season with you 🥰
I have been seeing these beautiful yellow flowers all over and finally I know what they are. Forsythia, thank you. So gorgeous.
YES!! Planting shrubs and flowers!!
A lazy drift of the lilacs would be gorgeous, great idea Laura! It's going to look stunning, slowly but surely! 🤗💜🤗
Hi cami how are you doing?
Gorgeous plants! I've got lilacs that also need to go in the ground.... thanks for the motivation!
I am SO EXCITED to see how all the spring bulbs come up, especially around the potting shed! I’ve literally been thinking about it since you planted them in the fall!! Thanks for taking us along on this fun and beautiful journey!
I have a new Homestead and I just started developing and designing the gardens, I want forsythia and lilac to line my driveway! TFS Laura, I will follow lots of your advice.
absolutely love yellow and purple in the garden
I’m so so excited can’t wait to see all these beautiful colorful flowers, bushes, and trees. You have a great eye for placement and color
Your arbs have grown dramatically-they look fantastic! All the bulbs and forsythia will provide so much color-can't wait!
I have rooted so many forsythia bushes from just breaking off the wand of one and sticking in a pot or ground. Love these plants.
Visiting in Florida right now , can’t wait to see what happened in my garden back home in Massachusetts while I was gone , love all you do ,Laura
The lilac video you did several years ago is how I found your channel! Thank you for being a garden inspiration and a motivation for me to get things done! I’ve enjoyed watching the journey.
Thanks for sharing. I literally sprung in awe at the pop of colour when you went back and showed us those 3 Forcythias x 💚🐛🌻
So excited to see all of the spring colors!!
What beautiful spring colour beautiful yellow. And your lilac will look so beautiful when it blooms to and your bulbs come up to so so beautiful. Great advice today to laura so thank for that.
Hi 👋 how are you doing today?
I love both of those bushes you planted.❤️❤️❤️
I love the yellow “forsythia wreaths.. so pretty for the spring!
I so loved seeing Laura planting again.
I had to watch this video twice and pause it to take notes. These are the bushes I love but in small sizes. Laura you pack a lot of information in your videos.
When we bought our house we had some shrubs that I have LOVED in every season but could never figure out what they are. Recently realized they are forsythia. I will definitely be buying more to do around our property.
I'm so excited. I've been waiting for planting time. I look forward to watching the progress this year.
Many years ago a 90 + year old man named Charlie Forsythe attended the same church as I did. Every spring he brought in a bouquet of forsythias and told this story---his great uncle worked as a botanist at the Royal Botanical Garden in London, UK. His team brought in a shrub from China. It was developed into the forsythia and was named for his relative. He insisted that the nameof this beautiful spring shrub was pronounced for-sY-th-i-a. Not for-sith-I-a. I’m always reminded of the pronunciation whenever I see that brilliant yellow bloom
Yipee I can hear the excitement in your voice!!
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day
Did I hear you say you knit? I have to say watching you and Aaron has really kickstarted my interest in gardening again now that I am an empty nester with 2 year old granddaughters. I loved the butterfly garden and will definitely use your ideas when I plant one for the girls. Your content is so wonderful, every morning before work, I grab my coffee and watch the most recent update. On the weekend, I sit and knit for the granddaughters and dream of retirement when I can make my own beautiful gardens. Thank you so much for your inspiration.
Great to see that auger again! So excited for all the planting to come. I got a glimpse of the planting shed in the background-it looks great. The color in that area is going to be spectacular when all those bulbs bloom!
Hi Laura and Aaron! It's nice seeing that things can be planted now. TFS!
Yay! Been looking forward to this. I've got another month before I can start shopping and planting.
I've been wandering forever when youde have a lilac! I love them and have several
FUN FUN FUN! Gosh, I think I'm almost as excited as Laura is about her gardens! I absolutely ADORE all the old-fashioned plants like Lilacs and Forsythias. :D
Yay!!! So ready to plant!!!
Thanks!
I love what you do!!!! You are so happy, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about plants and flowers and I have just so enjoyed your videos!!! Happy happy planting 🥰🌺🌸🌹💐🥀 🥦🥕 💗
My forsythia is just starting to show blooms. I love seeing the burst of yellow when everything else is still dormant. I also put a Bloomerang lilac in a huge container last spring and it's thriving. Thanks for the tip on shearing back the first blooms. Will try it this year.
Spring is going to be so fun. I can’t wait.
Oh the thrill of Spring!
Love seeing the new garden shaping up! It's going to be absolutely gorgeous with all the bulbs and shrubs blooming together! Can't wait to see it!
Forsythias and Lilacs are my favorite. My Grampa had both at his house. They remind me of him.
I'm so excited about forsythia and lilac season! I picked up my very first lilac about a week ago - a PW Scentara Pura! 💜🎉 Looks to be the same size as Laura's Bloomerang. This Scentara Pura is supposed to be very successful in zone 7, so I'm watching videos for all tips and tricks to help it live for many years to come. Thanks for another well-timed video Laura! 😀
I am loving the green color with the wood frames in your flower shed!!!!!
I cannot wait to see all of those bulbs that you planted!!! Thousands upon thousands of bulbs. I thought you had lost your mind, but now I’m thinking you’re a genius and I can’t wait !!!!
Yah!!!!!! Planting season has arrived & I can't wait to get started! But I have garden clean up to do & check my supplies! Love the Forsythia & Lilacs you planted! I do remember when you planted the Black Cat Pussy Willow & it is beautiful - I love it! 😃🥳🎊🎉💜💛💜💛
I just love the color of the siding on your shed plus the natural window frame look terrific. I like it so much that I think you should paint your house to match!! Gorgeous
I literally can wait for your garden tours 5-10yrs down the road!
Beautiful bushes. Thank you for sharing.
Nice to see them. To see them nice
I love the Starlet Forsythia....perfect size for a spot I have needing some color...will be looking out for it at the garden center
My forsythia and lilac bush/tress are side by side in my back yard. In 7a the forsythia blooms first and when I see the yellow coming in I know Spring is coming 😁. I just wish it bloomed longer than a month or so. My lilac is starting to bloom and smells heavenly 😍
I love learning about these shrubs. I will trim as you say. Ty
I only bought one plant last year and made several cuttings. I just planted them today and they are fully rooted.
Love, love seeing blooming plants going in the ground. It means spring is really here. Thank you for brightening this morning. When the video was ending, I caught myself saying "no not yet it is too short". I just love watching your videos, especially when planting beautiful things.
My mom always cut forsythia branches to bring in and force into bloom. Friends had sent us Easter tree decorations from Germany one year, and so the forsythia branches were decorated when they were still sticks and were usually blooming in time for Easter.
I love your South garden & the selection of low maintenance shrubs!
We have forsythias and they are MASSIVE -- such a beautiful show in spring
Thanks for this! I'm about to put these in my garden! 💖💖💖
Did not know there was a mini-Miss Kim! I planted a regular Miss Kim a number of years ago...it is HUGE and perfect for the spot it's in. I always thought it was a bummer they didn't make them smaller. And now they do! Gonne grab me a couple of those...I have the perfect spot!
So much fun!;!
Love the forsythia they are so beautiful.
Thanks for the info on the lilacs. I am going to have to get one ❤️.
I love forsythias. I started with three and now I have over two dozen. I take the branches when I prune them and scrape the bark and put in the ground. I got free plants.
These new varieties of forsythia that bloom on the entire stem are the best idea since sliced bread!!
