    I have a GE fridge. It's the loudest thing I've heard. Everyone I know has a fridge with a gentle hum not me. I get to hear a loud hum and loud continuous clicking. Repairman says "this is normal" also. GE soundproof your obnoxious fridges!

      You're going to "forward my concerns".? Then what? I still have to listen to this loud fridge. How about sending in a GE repairman and installing a new quieter compressor free of charge. Otherwise your customer service is as good as your fridges.

    I purchased a GE fridge about 2 months ago and the sizzling sound it makes scares me. I have called a repairman twice. The first time he said it needed some kind of covering and the second time they said it was making normal sounds when it defrost. I have never heard these sounds from any fridge I owned before except one that was about to catch fire after having it for only a few years because the heater was staying on to long because of ice build up or whatever they said was the problem but this is scary.

    My GE fridge looks exactly like this model. I noticed a red glow from the bottom vents in the freezer and heard water dripping and sizzling...like water dripping on a hot stove eye. The noise in this video didn't exactly sound like what I experienced. I'm very scared to plug my fridge back up.

    • @joycoffey6176
      @joycoffey6176 6 лет назад

      also the water black rubber water line that runs up the back of the fridge a few weeks ago came out and leaked water onto my floor. Two of the plastic hooks that hold in place had popped off and once I re attached the hose I placed masking tape to hold it in but it came loose again about 3hrs after I turned my ice maker back on. So I've been keeping my ice maker turned off...which is really a disappointment because I use ice everyday. So with this issue and then seeing what looked like fire and hearing water dripping and sizzling I'm just at the point of saying goodbye to GE and get another brand, Unfortunately it's just not within my budget at this time and I'm keeping what food I can inside a cooler and outside to keep cold. 😞

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  6 лет назад

      Hi Joy - what you've experienced is exactly what's described in this video (at approximately the 1:30 minute mark): the refrigerator was is the defrost cycle. As the ice was melted by the heater (the red glow you saw), the water drips on a cover that's over the heater and, because it's hot, it sizzles. I've seen that in my refrigerator so I know exactly what you noticed. As the video says, it's nothing to worry about. I'm glad you asked us about it so we can put your mind at ease -CC

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  6 лет назад

      Hi Joy - the line to which you're referring may be the defrost drain hose (the hose through which the water drains during defrost). There may be a clog in the hose which is causing the water to back up. If that's the case, we would recommend that you have a servicer check it for you. If you need to schedule an appointment, here's a link to our on-line service page:

      I agree all of the appliances my family owned long were Kenmore. Only ever had 1 warrenty claim and it was 8 years into owning the washer dryer. The barrel bearing went bad needed a full replacement. Was most likely caused by over loading the washer often and high usage. I just bought a g e washer dryer laundry center and the thing is alot louder than the old Kenmore he stacked washer. But it does seem to wash better but also uses more water. Made sure to get a long warrenty.

    We have had our refrigerator less than 1 week and it makes a horrible, high pitched buzzing type sound. There is no ice maker, just a basic fridge and I don't think I will be able to live with this aggravating sound for years to come. I have owned many refrigerators and never had sounds like this coming from them. Really irritating!
