Couldn't agree with Lex more. The video takes away the true feel of the song, and doesn't give you an accurate visual of who this band is and what they're all about.
Love how Lex just shuts her eyes and ignores the video painting her own picture in her mind. That’s what it’s all about. Great reaction. Enjoy watching you guys.
John Fogerty who was the singer, lead guitarist, and principle songwriter of CCR, he said that the song was about their impending breakup. The imagery is you can have a bright, beautiful, sunny day, and it can be raining at the same time, and I think it was almost 2 yrs later that they broke up!
Its been over 8 years since my heart was broken and the sun is there but the rain reminds of what I lost. Wish I had a time machine, I'd do a lot of things differently 😕
@@TheHitmanSF That's... a pretty simple take on what happened. In 1971 John's brother Tom left the band and he said it was because John was basically a control freak. Apparently Stu and Doug had also been complaining that John wouldn't let anyone else write any songs for the band, so after Tom left John finally said "Fine, you know what, fuck it, for the next album all of us will write songs, 3 songs each." That album came out in 1972 and was a failure compared to their other albums. On top of that, the band got completely fucked by their record label, they had what many say is one of the worst deals a band ever made with a label. All of these factors just caused the band to fracture apart, it can't really be blamed on any of them in particular. John would say the band turned their backs on them even though they actually had good reason to be discontent. Stu and Doug and Tom would blame John for being a tyrant, even though their 1972 album made it clear that he was the by far the best songwriter in the group. There's a lot of context and nuance to the story beyond just "the band turned their backs on him".
CCR is truly wonderful. This song is telling the story of the ups and downs of the band and ultimately their break up. This song is in tons of movies, tv shows and commercials
Ooh, there are SO many great CCR tunes. Suzie Q, Born on the Bayou, Fortunate Son, Who'll Stop The Rain, Bad Moon Rising... I grew up listening to them, this is home for me!
When I was a kid and first heard the song Bad Moon Rising the part where he was singing There's a Bad Moon on the Rise I thought he was singing There's a Bathroom on the Right.......... Don't go out tonight 'Cause it's bound to take your life There's a bathroom on the right..........
There is something magical about CCR, they got that Cajun sound down and they were a California band, but if you didn't know you would never guess it, one of my favorite bands of the era, started listening to them on 8 track tape.
I would've bet money they were southeastern and just learned a few days ago they were Californian... I'm from the southeast and it just sounds too local to be from somewhere else lol mind blown!
Agreed. I'm a Cajun born & raised. You'd have to look hard to find someone here that doesn't LOVE Credence here. My parents raised us on this band & The Eagles, another California band that didn't sound like it.
@@G-grandma_Army Don't buy vinyl. It truly is completely inferior to digital. I say this as one who was born in 1958 and who owned a lot of vinyl. It scratches, develops pops and hiss and warps. Digital is simply superior in every way and is a much better investment. There is this nostalgia for vinyl amongst some groups, but they are just simplistic and don't understand why digital is technically far superior.

CCR is one of those amazing bands that everybody can agree on. I've never heard one person say they don't like them... Plus I have great memories of CCR and my mom. She and I used to sing along to them all the time when I was a kid💜✌🤘🔥
When John Fogerty was on his own he was actually sued for sounding too much like himself. You can't make this crap up. Well yeah he was the lead singer so he will always sound like himself. He 🏆

I grew up with my old man blasting the heck out of CCR every weekend.. It's part of the reason why I could digest Rock music easily, given I was subconsciously inducted into the genre as a youngen.. This led me on a path to Black Sabbath, Acdc, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera and so on and so on...
When I was a boy, in the early 60's, evening time, out on the lake in Wyoming during the summer nights, would hear Creedence playing out across the water at evening, with campfires circling the horizon. This band brought me solace, peace, and so many other thousands of people lying down for a quite summer night under starring skies. Such beautiful memories of times, places, and people that are not long gone.
Lex is right!!! This song was in a movie from 1978 with Nick Nolte and Tuesday Weld called, “Who’ll Stop the Rain.” The movie starts out in the jungles of Vietnam and ends up in California. It’s worth a look-see.

Also Janice Joplin… Lex, you will absolutely love her; especially if you like Amy Winehouse…
Such a bluesy soulful song. Southern Rock incorporates soul, blues, rock, rhythm smoltz, etc. from the region. Those are what we grew up on. John Fogerty was from San Fran and still managed to capture those perfectly. Glad you guys did this one.
My dad used to play this tape, when we used to take drives along the coast in L.A. when I was a kid. I did the same for him when when I drove us from northern Cali back to l.a. when I was older, because he had a heat attack and couldn't drive anymore. It was the greatest moment in my life, next to my daughter being born. My dad passed 2 years after that trip. R.I.P. this song instantly makes me tear up, but with a smile on my face. R.I.P. Dad.
CCR is amazing. I bought their "Chronicles" album in the early '90's when I was around 19yo. My mom kept stealing it from me. She couldn't understand how I liked music from "her generation". So I started stealing her Eric Clapton "MTV Unplugged" CD instead. Sometimes music is just timeless. Check out that Clapton performance when you get a chance, or any of the MTV Unplugged performances for that matter.
CCR'S music always reminbd me of Kemmerer,Wyoming. They were at their height and on the radio all the time. I was 16 at the time. So many memories. I lost my boyfriend to the Vietnam war during the time. Sadly,he didnt make it home alive. Gene Schachterle.

This is an official CCR video for the song’s 50th anniversary, featuring Jack Quaid and Erin Moritary who appear on Amazon’s The Boyd. Incredibly, the song only reached number one on a Billboard chart in 2021! 50 years after its original release.
01:50 , I bet it's been in a lot of movies, only one I recall now is a remake of The Longest Yard movie with Adam Sandler. Mud training scene after the rain
I have been hearing that song through different times my whole life and I never could figure out what the meaning was. All I knew is that it had to have meaning beyond seeing rain on a sunny day haha. Now I know. Thanks for the video and cheers.
You two have been hitting my favorite era of music. Zeppelin, ccr, zz top, for me nothing beats the 60s, 70s & 80s. Have you done any queen yet? You'll love them.
There is a video on RUclips of George Thoroughgood interviewing John Fogerty (lead singer and songwriter for CCR) and they explain that this song is about the band breaking up. John could see and feel it coming and put it into words for this song, though he couldn't see he was part of the problem. He said he wished, in hindsight, he had treated his younger brother (the rhythm guitarist for CCR) better but that success had gone to his head and he wouldn't let the other members of the band even sing a song on any of the albums. When this song came out 50 years ago I was only 13 or so. I didn't (and couldn't) understand that this is how life can be when we get arrogant and full of ourselves. We really alienate others and cause problems that can sometimes never be alleviated in this life. This is a great song anyway and one of my favourites from CCR. The music is just so great and we sense that in our hearts and minds even if we can't quite grasp what it is really saying.
The great thing about songs by CCR is the songs can have many different meanings to many different people. It hits me with, patrolling in triple canopy jungle (née rain forest) dark even midday, condensation raining down from the foliage it had gathered on, not a cloud in the sky, 90* with 90% humidity, knowing a firefight can erupt at any time.
The song is about the break up of CCR, Tom fogerty was about to leave the band and go solo. CCR was at there peak, most popular band in 1970 and it was about to come to an end, which represents "Have you ever seen the rain on a sunny day"
Why would someone give a thumbs down on a reaction? How miserable does a person have to be to dislike the way someone reacted? Wait, am I disliking the reaction of someone disliking a reaction? DID YOU JUST GET YOUR PEANUT BUTTER IN MY CHOCOLATE!?
Probably just some idiot who doesn't like the song. The other thing too is a lot of times the RUclips algorithm will recommend stuff to people they're not interested in, and they're too lazy to click the 3 dots and click I'm not interested, so they just thumbs it down to keep it fr being recommended.
The song itself will give you the feeling your mind and emotions would naturally have but a video puts things in your head you might not come too naturally.
One of the coolest things about listening to band of that era is following the members through their careers and the different bands or solo as they grow and develop as people and musicians. Dan Fogerty is one of those.
First, LOVE CCR!!! John Fogerty’s voice is amazing! Second, this video had to have been made very recently. Two of the main characters from the Amazon Prime series, “The Boys”, are in it. I’m wondering if they’re gonna be using this song in season 3.
Fortunate Son and Bad Moon Rising are musts, but you really can't go wrong with any CCR songs.
"Down on the Corner"
"Run Through the Jungle"
"Born on a Bayou"
And
"Proud Mary"
Personally, I consider Bad Moon Rising the best CCR song, but all of them are super bangers.
Uswd to like bad moon but I hate it now. I hear it and some dumb shit happens
Missing "ramble tamble" or "long as I can see the light"
I like the video that has Fortunate Son playing to footage of the Vietnam War.
I could watch this woman enjoying music all day. She clearly appreciates good sounds and is very classy
I could to I've finally found someone who enjoys music as much as I do and the way she explained the music is special God love her heart

I agree. I dislike when people use a timeless hit in a video.
Yea but I don’t like Live videos, they usually aren’t better than studio versions.
YES!
I feel the same way of Bruce Springsteen dancing dark and usa those videos they take away from the damn song meaning.

I think she's gone down the rabbit hole.

CCR was at there peak, most popular band in 1970 and it was about to come to an end, which represents "Have you ever seen the rain on a sunny day"
CCR!! Love their songs!!
Jason, nice "deep thought". Haha. I get what you're saying, though.
Born on the Bayou and Heard it Through the Grapevine are amazing!! Hopefully you get the chance to hear those!!
So much goid memories....back then....
The coolness of life....
CCR have been around since the 60s and their library is definitely worth listening to.
I'm with Lex. In 50 years of listening to that song, the scenes in the video never occurred to me.
We buried my uncle yrs ago and he wanted this song played as the coffin left the church , he didn't get his wish, a beautiful song
it was played on the final episode of stargate sg-1 called “Unending” in 2006 and has been on LOTS of tv shows and movies over the years
The song itself will give you the feeling your mind and emotions would naturally have but a video puts things in your head you might not come too naturally.
That "I KNOW"part gets me every time❤️❤️
Such a feel good song! Love it
One of the coolest things about listening to band of that era is following the members through their careers and the different bands or solo as they grow and develop as people and musicians. Dan Fogerty is one of those.
John Fogerty has an amazing Voice!...I saw him in concert and he was amazing!
Lots of CCR songs are in lots of movies and TV shows. Can't go wrong with CCR!!! Good stuff!!! HUGS!!! :)
"Long as I can see the light"! Please lol
Midnight Special, Down on the Corner, Bad Moon Rising, Born on the Bayou are all great. heck almost anything they did is great.
First, LOVE CCR!!! John Fogerty’s voice is amazing! Second, this video had to have been made very recently. Two of the main characters from the Amazon Prime series, “The Boys”, are in it. I’m wondering if they’re gonna be using this song in season 3.
