The fact that CCR was only active for 5 years is insane. John Fogerty wrote an absurd amount of good songs in such a short time. He also did pretty good as a solo artist. Saw him live 20 years ago, what an experience it was!
Thought it was 7 years …
Brother was on a roll! Hot streak 🔥
No shit? They did put out a lot of good songs in a short time!
Shame!
My Favorite Band !😀😀😀
The one and only, John Fogerty is a legend. And for me this original will always be the best. I love CCR
Hi ! yes ! that was one of the first album i bought ( cosmos factory ) i ll never forget it ! i m 66 years young !😋
CCR had this groove.. Nothing has ever sounded more like a drive down the highway with the roof cabbed down and your arm in the window
I remember when CCR first came on the scene. With their bayou vibe, most of us were shocked to find out they were suburban kids from Berkely. John Fogerty was and is an amazing talent.
Dude me too... Well, in high school in the 90s. Thought they were from the bayou... And was dying to know what kinda acid freaks Pink Floyd looked like! (how surprised I was to both)
NoCal is full of Okies & Southerners !
Yes, he did it all: composing, arranging, singing, guitars, harmonica, organ, electric piano & sax. And he had a great band too.
John Fogerty(singer) at the time he recorded this song was only what 23 .
CCR had San Francisco Bay California roots even though their sound often had a southern style and Louisiana /Mississippi area bayou themes.
A shout out to all the people recommending more of their songs.
Richmond/ El Cerrito. As far a I know John Fogerty still lives in Hercules. Went to his house 35 years ago, went to HS in Berkeley with his oldest son.
CCR one of the Greatest Bands Ever! When a CCR song starts to play you Immediatly know it!
OMG Lex just nailed it.
Yes, from a music standpoint they used fairly simple chord progressions but
damn if they didn't make those three - four chords flow like magic.
That's not easy to do.
This song has 6 chords. And the musical hook of C-A-G-F-D chords after the chorus was still kind of unusual even in 1969 when it came out. Just a little bit of useless info for you. Cheers!
OMG, CCR are just so good, while I know I still get amazed of how good it is, even my girls (5 and 8) sing along in the car when i play it :)
i'm 51 now. my dad turned me on to ccr when i was about 12. i was enjoying "heard it through the grapevine" for the first time, when he walked in the room. "like those guys?" he asked. i said "love the sound. quite a groove. he then grabbed his acoustic, and began to play and sing his favorite, "bad moon rising". i will never forget that moment in time, and have THOROUGHLY enjoyed ccr ever since. love everything they did
Grew up in Europe with CCR. I was a fanatic Creedence fan twhen I was 12, and still love them. That voice is amazing. Best Rock voice ever. "Keep On Chooglin'"
I grew up on CCR, they are my mom's favorite band of all time. You know a band is great when you've heard them hundreds of times and the music never gets old.
Born in 1958 so I truly know what you mean!
60s 70s and 80s music is the best in my opinion 🤙👊🍻
CCR is a great band to love.
Absolutely everyone loves CCR!
I've been meaning to say this for the longest time, but I really appreciate that Brad pauses the song very thoughtfully. He doesn't just pause it any old place, like many other reactors do. He waits for an opportune moment so as not to disrupt the flow. I like that. Nice work, dude! And to Lex, you're right, CCR IS SOOO good!
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Brad as far as his reactions (he's quite stiff), but he does know when to pause a song. I'll give him props for that!
Years ago, my brother bought me my very first
CD for Christmas. It was CCR’s greatest hits.
I wore it out!
I remember when my mom, who usually bought me pajamas and underwear for Christmas, gave a Beatles Album - like you - I wore it out. CCR was a great band.
CCR is amazing! Tina Turner did an awesome cover of this song too.
Tina turner is awful..
@@liveandletdie7187 I can't help your lack of good taste. Why be so negative?
@@ryanab01 yeah, she is awesome
Every Bar Band played CCR Songs as a matter of course in the 60's and 70:s . They were simple, fun and good to dance to! John Fogerty always had what I consider to be the perfect Rock and Roll Voice!
Fogerty and Chris Conell are the only 2 people who distort their voice the same way. It's like they had a special chamber in their throats.
And every band had to play Proud Mary. I'll bet between playing guitar, keyboards and bass, I've had to do this song a few hundred times! The Creedence style though, not the Ike and Tina way, although that sure would've been interesting!! Lol!!
Always look forward CCR. Never enough! This is the original version. Released in 1969. More CCR please!
You guys should react to more Creedence Clearwater Revival…
"I Put a Spell On You", "Susie Q", "Run Through the Jungle", "Sweet Hitch Hiker", "Someday Never Comes", "Hey Tonight", "Commotion", "Up Around The Bend", "Long As I Can See The Light"
🎸🤘
Ramble tamble and traveling band next
@@TheConservativeinaction Ramble Tamble Yes, and Keep On Chooglin'
@IMOES. SEXYY why are you putting out your videos on this private reaction channel?? No one cares about seeing smut about young girls!! Kinda weird 🤪...this channel isn't about workout plans either huh?? 🤔🤨🙄😵
Looking Out My Back Door
Oh, and definitely Midnight Special
Brad & Lex you'll love their "Up Around The Bend"& "Sweet Hitch-Hiker"!!!
Loved Hanoi rocks version of Up around the bend!
Your cookout band?! That's absolutely perfect! I bet John Fogerty would be well-chuffed to hear that, even if he wouldn't phrase it that way. His, and their timeless classics deserve to accompany the toil that's rewarded with beloved friends and family sitting down to enjoy something scrumptious together. >sigh< Thanks for that, I've got a heap of cookin' to do.
Tuned in to see dear Lex groove to this song. She did not disappoint. Much affection for Lex, a living diamond.
This is part of what I call CCR's "friendly collection". Includes Down on the Corner, Green River, Up Around the Bend, and a few others. They're just inviting, inclusive feeling songs that make you want to be there. Fogerty had a real gift for it.
This is the original and best version of this song. To me there's very small covers that are better than the original. Because the original is what the writer wanted it to sound like.
This is the original version. Written by John Fogerty. Released 1969. CCR's second album "Bayou Country". Which also included the song "Born On the Bayou". CCR was a truly great band. You should check them out in depth.
I love CCR too! Been listening to their music for decades...since they first hit the radio.
Let us not forget my favorite songs by CCR----BORN ON THE BAYOU, & GREEN RIVER!!!!! 😎😎😎🔥🔥🔥
You are right, Lex. CCR songs are simple but good. Just straight ahead, solid songs without a lot of flair. John Fogerty always painted a vivid picture with his compositions. Great voice, too.
Both versions of this song, Tina Turner and CCR, are different but equally great.
What a smile! Keep enjoying the music, it's a joy to watch your reactions the both of you!
I’m with you on that!
Brad sometimes smiles 😃
@@Chris.Davis.2 not that often, too busy reading the lyrics but lex makes up for that with her enthusiasm
@@Chris.Davis.2 He's got a great smile and you can tell he really gets a kick out of Lexi too
@@MariaM-qm1cl he looks at her sometimes like, uh?
As a solo artist, John Fogerty had a hit called Centerfield that's a tribute to baseball. Definitely worth a listen. Also a solo hit with Old Man Down The Road.
Love the video for Old Man.
Remember when Will Smith gave that dance lesson in Hitch about how guys should just stay in their lane etc? Love how Brad underplays everything to compliment Lex's raw exuberance. You two just get better and better at everything. Was watching you months ago and you are both now even better than before. Make sure u keep up great teamwork. Kudos guys!
I absolutely love CCR it reminds me of my Grandmother she loved CCR it was her High School days she said,
Me and her would listen to them time from time.
By far the best version , with the music so crisp !😀
Born in Oban in 1959. These were my first American experience band wise ! They’re amazing in every way. So simple but genius ✌️🕶💙❤️🏴
Us New Orleans natives owned this song for obvious reasons . We still have the Riverboat Queen . Geaux Saints !!
IF! You're going to move on to the Tina Turner version, please do the live at Wembley one. It's fire.
Love Lex's reactions. You seem to really appreciate 60s and 70s music. Keep listening -- it's the best music around.
This is one song of many that John Fogerty wrote. They never disappoint! John is on his own now touring in 2022. I've been with them and John since 68 first hit Suzie Q. Still my favorite group ever!!!!
New vocabulary for you guys, "swamp rock". Great fun reaction, thank you both. 😁✌️😇
Yes !!!!!!!! OMG Yes !! Love CCR !!!!!!
I read that John Fogerty was from Cali, but fell in love with Louisiana 'mud rock', so he put on an accent and started writing songs. It sure explains his odd pronunciations.
That's funny, I always thought he said "tang", meaning gasoline, but apparently it's "pane", probably short for propane.
CCR, born and raised in California, convinced everyone they were from Louisiana.
"Proud Mary" is a song by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival written by John Fogerty. It was released as a single in January 1969 by Fantasy Records and on the band's second studio album, Bayou Country.
This is the original version
If you lived in Berkeley California in the late 60s, as I did, you got to hear CCR play in the park for free.
Great one! One song that they did cover is my favorite version: “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”; it’s got so much grit!
That one is awesome. You gotta have the long version, though!
Wonderful 1969 number as was so much music from that era...John Fogarty was a master writer and singer, at his best in this recording. 👍🤪🤗
My best friend's mother loved this song. I always think of her when I hear this song and what a wonderful lady she was. God Bless you, Mrs. Corrado
This is my favorite version of this song, though many argue for Tina Turner’s rendition. Of course, you haven’t lived until you’ve heard this masterpiece dripping from the lips of Leonard
Nimoy. I triple dog dare you to react to THAT version!
Whaa?? Spock sang this song??
One of the best songs ever!
Creedence !!!! 😍😍😍
Iconic song. It’s crazy that they had so many hits from 1967 to 1971. Great song and great band. Ramble tamble or traveling band next.
"Woykin', toynin', and boynin'" always cracked me up
My uncle's were vietnam I was young kid these guys are legends of that time ..it was only the radio back then no internet .
Anything CCR DOES IS A BANGER!!!
my Mom would get up and dance whenever she heard this ❤️🙏
You have to listen to Elvis sing this live, it’s amazing!!
Lex is so adorable when she rocks out.
This was the original Proud Mary, written by CCR's leader John Fogerty. Tina Turner's version, although very good, was a cover.
Grew up on CCR….🎶….❤️🎵
At school age 14 1969-70 we had a record player and two records: The White Album by The Beatles and Willie & the Poor Boys by CCR. Not a bad listening experience!
I still love the opening riff to "Up Around the Bend." It "slaps," as they say these days. :)
I like this song. I like this band. I like this reaction. I like Brad and I like Lex. That is all, I hope you have enjoyed my masterful verbose comment. Hope your day is as nice as you are :)
CCR the 60's....the best
People on the river Are Happy To Give 😍❤️🔥✨💫🌟
Huge fan since 1968. John Fogerty and Wynonna Judd did a duet together not too long ago doing this great song it was incredible. Worth checking out!
Creedence Clearwater Revival
were Californian guys singing about Misisipi River. You have to listen "I put a spell I'm you"
Maravilloso 😃😃😃🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺
Tom his older brother was the origional singer of the band. Their mom was a school teacher in California.
He was interviewed by Howard Stern and he said he started keeping a journal in the mid 60's and just writing down song titles or lines that would come to him. Proud Mary was the first entry and he said he didn't know what it even meant. He said he thought it sounded cool and new he would use it at some time.
I love them too. I was about 10 when I first heard them. They're awesome.
I only just realised this was an original by them!!
All their songs were great to dance to.
Lex: "My swamp band". You got that right, girl!!
Grew up on CCR. Lead singer John Fogerty wrote & they recorded this in 1969. Tina Turner recorded it 2 years later. You probably know her version.
Every wedding I went to in the 70's the band always played this song.
Well done, as always. When their hit "Up Around the Bend" came out, I remember everybody being so blown away by the opening guitar riff. Hope all is well.
I can be in a bad mood and turn on you guys and Lex just makes me smile. Love you guys
CCR love forever! Thanks for Proud Mary👍
CCR's "green river," "bad moon rising" and "it came out of the sky," a fast and funny song about UFOs, are also really good. but side two of their album "bayou country," which contains "proud mary," is one of the best album sides in r&r history. react to the entire side in one sitting. you won't be dissappointed. in fact, i'm pretty sure you'll me AMAZED!
Great reaction. After 50 years Fogerty regained control of his songs. God bless.
Luv your reactions.
Cookout. Crawfish. Barefoot. Swamp. Ha ha. Awesome.
John Fogerty has a winery in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. He's had a good life. I used to live there and Neil Young was there too.
👍❤🤙
One of my all time faves
"People on the river are happy to give." A lyric of hope and camaraderie.
My number one karaoke song lol
My jammmmmmn 🖤🖤🖤
Lex you are right , Simple & Clear !
My Favorite Band !
Oops, I didn't mean the movie Major League but the CCR song Center field, which was used in the movie.
Like the T shirt says, I may be old but I got to see all the good bands!
John is a national treasure!
One of the best song covers ever.
The guitar riff in this kicks booty!
Now that is how a lyric video should be!
All the great comments about CCR are all accurate. I wanted to comment on how great that lyric video was! The animations! Superb!
Love CCR. love Lex’s Mini Mouse Ears.
My favorite CCR song.
Only band to ever put out 3 albums in 1 year, incredible, the amount of work they did in 5 years is outstanding… Just like the doors as in terms of a lot of work in a short time…
CCR - simple, timeless, great !
Lex orgullosamente fan de Creedence
