I think the best thing about this wonderful time capsule is the art of conversation and the skill of actually listening and engaging with the speaker. Very rare these days where every show it's like everyone is on speed and interrupting each other 😛

OMG nothing on TV can touch this. This is SO casual, SO intimate. Truly a gem. And give it to Hef, he’s not the worlds greatest talk show host, but he doesn’t have to be; he’s stays on point, gets out of his own way quickly, and lets the talented people take over.

Sophistication. As young boys in the fifties and sixties, we relied on Playboy to learn the important thing...thing like the difference between black tie and white tie, the proper way to uncork a bottle of wine, fashion, music, intimacy and all things cool. Hef was an idol and, in a way, a mentor.

Watch the conversation around Hugh at about 19:45, with Rex Reed, Patty Duke, etc. ..... Then, it will strike you---No one has ear buds in his ears, and no one is texting, and no one is staring at her Facebook wall, and no one is blabbing on his Android...... Look at the richness of interaction, the non-verbals going back and forth, the obvious enjoyment that folks are sharing together...... You don't see this behavior much, these days.......Folks do not sit and simply enjoy each others' company, with no distractions and no disruptions....... I can remember evenings like this, a few decades back....... These Hefner videos are precious recordings of how attractive, successful folks interacted 40 to 50 years ago. ....... Are we really better off, today????

@@kalanigermono9581 however he played a pretty smooth bass at the end. His comedic timing was perfect and well practiced. He truly loved his craft. Too bad he was also a creep extraordinaire.

Back then if you were rich and possibly famous you could be 90 years old and Hef had a harem of girls who would do anything you wanted. I think if you were drooling hunchback these girls would have stood around you allnight rubbing you in front of the cameras, preparing for whatever you wanted off camera. Read autobiographies of people who attended these events, he'd set rich men up with these girls, and they were rich men and famous men who lent that fame to him, built his brand name. he sold the girls, their images, the gear, the magazines. He literally was the worlds most famous richest pimp of all time.

Great, just great. Tina could really shake it. Amazing comeback in '84; I'll bet she's still got what it takes to shake it. Loving this Playboy After Dark, some lame interviews and humor, but so what? Fascinating time capsule.

barbi benton came in to my Dad's lounge Murphy's in Providence Rhode Island back in the 70s. Got her picture on the wall with my Dad. Susan Keiger came in later also. That is the kind of place my Dad's lounge was. Everybody welcome. Dad was chief BS artist and a good bar keep

We watched this on tv ... I forgot the week night. Was it Friday? It was pretty good. We were young adults and they were not doing anything illicit or anything. I enjoyed.

This is "Playboy After Dark," not "Playboy's Penthouse 1969."
"Playboy's Penthouse" was a show broadcast in 1959. There's no such thing as "Playboy's Penthouse 1969."

Have you people talking about 'a more innocent time' noticed how HIGH everyone was? It looks like a lot of qualludes were being used. It was interesting, but i would not call it the good old days!!
