Textbook Trotskyite strategy is to slowly overwhelm the institutions- the press, schools and education, religion etc- and eventually use them to destroy platforms for public discourse. At that point reasonable conversations like these no longer can exist. At this point anyone who dares to have them can simply be shouted down. The whole goal was plainly stated in the beginning of this video- to change education to eventually remove the current political and social structure from power. This is the strategy revolutionary Marxists have used - in areas against which they couldn't outright coup- in country after country after country.
Andrew Sickafoose I like how you know the entire U.S. through a computer screen. Reasonable conversations happen all the time. Reasonable conversations are less likely to happen in areas of conflict, like a college, college town, high LGBT population. And those people are the way they are because of current culture, not because of some underbelly of silencing opposition. And because the underlying message has real meaning and merit, even if they do not approach the issue with grace. That happens with extremist groups and people, not everyone. Current culture influences all of it. And the last generation that raised us doesn’t get a get out of jail free card. They let the TVs and computers raise the kids, then wondered why they turned out the way they did, while their parents were far more disciplined and had their kids the ability hardened by making them get out of the house. Everyone is influenced by society, the children are a result of the people before them at the same time. So everyone is at fault

@Juliana Silva What's the deeper implication of your comments if I can ask, like what made you think in this way? I think there is a more beneficial option, which is to see the positive side. For instance, I see that Mo-lester meant the pun and not the act itself. That's like two different dimensions with different properties. If you think about it, children are easily entertained and they also have "low standards" for being entertained. That's actually a gateway to a life filled with greater playfulness. If something happened that changed your mind seemingly forever, I want you to know that it's alright, that there is no need for judgement, fundamentally, of any kind, of you or me or any person, and I wish you a far greater freedom which doesn't limit your perception to any particular thing.

I think a lot of people were surprised at how intelligent Hef was. Doesn't excuse his morality but certainly he was exceedingly bright.
The biggest problem with both sides, even today, is “what’s wrong for women” let the individual choose what they wish for their life. There is no right or wrong way to be a woman. If you wanna be a business woman, go for it. If you want to be a stay at home housewife/mother, own it! Don’t let people trick you into thinking there’s a specific way to life that is acceptable. Unless of course you’re a murderer or something abusive-
It’s not even ‘own it’ it’s very admirable and hard work raising a family and doing it well, I don’t understand the problem people have with staying with children

Or at least evolved people aren't. Men who still think like that are terrified of losing their male privilege because its probably all they've got. Women who still think like that think they're getting Brownie points or derive some sort of cracked privileges from it.
Women aren't trying to be like men. Women are trying to equal out an imbalance prevalent in a phallocentric history of society and the control/image/opression inherent therein. Some of that image and control is so deeply engrained in our psyche that it's insidious and not immediately noticeable to men who are used to their patriarchal dividends and who feel everything is just peachy.
I've never followed Hugh Hefner nor seen any of his interviews so I was only vaguely aware of a caricature of him. It was surprising to me how well he was able to respond and communicate his ideas. It shouldn't be surprising. Most people who can figure out how to capitalize a market and build up a large successful business have some ability to engage in intelligent discourse.
This interview was obviously set in a time that seemed more hopefull and idiealistic. People wanted to free themselves from their limitating roles in society. All the people in this interview however where extremely sophisticated and educated and emancipated anyway, so they represent in no way the average American of that era. @wildebest I don't believe you understand the meaning of the word. This is precisely why matriarchies never existed (Definition: a society built, led and controlled by women with males following) This would be a totally impossible scenario for human existence. This is why to a certain extent for a successful society to exist women should be partially subjugated (by man). A non-patriarchal system does not mean matriarchal, this includes 'equalitarian' systems, academics exclude them from matriarchies strictly defined. Males still take the leadership roles in these equalitarian (more equal) societies and create all of the structural and non-structural foundations.
@wildebest Women are biological beings, while men are both the physical and the cerebral. Those who don't create or defend civilization (i.e., women) cannot control it, even if allowed, for that would be societal suicide. The female contribution to civilization was reproductive and as man's helper. The male contribution to civilization was primarily cerebral, exploratory, and innovative; his reproductive influence was not primary to his being as with the female. The value of the male is his superior intellect and strength, his more visual, spatial, and analytically superior mind. The male is the creator of civilizations. The female contribution to civilization was reproduction as a child caregiver and again as man's helper.

Lived through this time and Heffner WAS the personification of what feminists were fighting, ie. the characterization of women as nothing more than playthings for men, people with no value except T&A. We've come along way from these days, but the institutionalized sexism of the past continues to haunt our culture. It is well established that women were receiving 60 cents on the dollar compared by men for the same jobs and certain occupations and top level corporate positions were off limits to women. Now, we are struggling to live on social security, which is figured off these historically lower figures.

squ34ky2 Evidence? The guy who just said the older generations had a good idea not letting women vote is for evidence? What circle are you running in pal. You’re chasing your tail with a superiority complex.

Men in Ireland came home from work and handed the wages to the wife, mothers had as much hold on the family as the father, was a partnership!! Both did valuable jobs
@wildebest Matriarchies never existed because they are anti-civilization.
wildebest your observation is very interesting. Valid points.
@wildebest you're confusing matrilineal with matriarchal. Women were unable to become priests or leaders.
Grace Slick is the one who made the most sense out of them all.
The beginning of the cringe. Best line: Dick Cavett "That's because I am weak and like to be dominated." Literally rolled out of my chair.

Was such a stupid idea attacking Heffner because he wasnt at all the type of person they were fighting against
Lived through this time and Heffner WAS the personification of what feminists were fighting, ie. the characterization of women as nothing more than playthings for men, people with no value except T&A.
