I'm sure James Day was accomplished within his profession, but he just seems outclassed here intellectually. He very noticeably cannot seem to keep pace. Admittedly with one of the modern world's most influential men.
I have watched a few of these Day and Night episodes now and I have to say that the host is an amazing journalist. whether he is interviewing the far left or far right or anywhere in between his questions never hint at what he believes but only dig into the minds of those he interviewed.
Day was, at times, a brilliant interviewer. Here, he subtly peppers his questioning of Hefner with some tough challenging questions - and Hefner clearly stumbles when he is forced to confront some of the inconsistencies in his claims. But Day, the consummate interlocutor, does not immediately follow up with the hammer blow - but lets things ease up for a while, only to deliver another tough question a bit later.
If Hugh Hefner did not do it, other men would, riding a natural wave whose time had come, with photographic and printing technology - and the discovery that women like attention and to show what they have got. Thousands of women volunteer to pose Hefner also shows by example that life is to enjoy, even through old age, and he lives 100%.

Sex is a natural biological thing that has been celebrated and documented for centuries. I think his magazine was more artistic than others for sure, but it has also led to some unrealistic expectations of women. Compelling interview.

Sure he may have had a more progressive view (for the time) on being open and honest about sex and he was obviously an intelligent guy. But that doesn't stop him from being a manipulative, opportunistic chauvenist who creeped on MUCH younger women (groups of them) till his dying day. Obviously the girls did it freely and to further their own agendas, but his behavior and the way he treated them paints a picture more of a lecherous old chauvinist who enjoyed controlling people rather than some sexual revolutionary.

Imagine this guy would be killed years ago for saying that stuff. he would be seen as the devil during medieval times for promoting that kind of ideas. Thankfully society is slowly but surely evolving.
society was very different in the sixties than it is now. it was a very conservative world. things like masturbation, sex outside of marriage, homosexuality were seen as sick and perverted.
That's true. If one goes back to the 1950s, it was widely perpetuated that it was basically impossible to be preternatually "homosexual" without also, By DEFINITION, being a "communist", which by definition was the definition of "anti-American".
+Anglovox During Nazi Germany, gays and lesbians were persecuted and killed during the holocaust along with the communists and the jews. But it didn't stopped there. By the end of WW2, the CIA illegaly bought Nazi scientists and weapons to the U.S.A during ''operation paperclip''. It's a well known fact. Also, this is the reason why John F. Kennedy got shot. He spoke about ''secret societies'' and ''secret oaths''. No one knew what he was talking about. The CIA papers were declassified before his death. Kennedy was reffering to the CIA and their secret Nazi agenda.
If you think about it the greatest country in the world was built on gambling. They were people willing to step out of the way to take the chances required to hit it big.
So you can blame a woman for his inabilty to commit to one woman. If you'd listened he said he was pretty much a rebel at a young age against anything to do with morality. I think his ego was just bruised because it would/should have been he who cheated on his first wife.

Hello
Missed. HEF4321 HELLFIRE NOW
Does Hef actually have any hobbies/ do anything other than the Playmates?! Is there also a reason he's more popular than Stringfellow?
He looks like a young Robert Dinero here
Imagine this guy would be killed years ago for saying that stuff. he would be seen as the devil during medieval times for promoting that kind of ideas. Thankfully society is slowly but surely evolving.
23igna the silliest comment
society was very different in the sixties than it is now. it was a very conservative world. things like masturbation, sex outside of marriage, homosexuality were seen as sick and perverted.
That's right. They did....as in the case of General Gehlen.
In the end, he died a lonely, pathetic old man . The young ladies he paid to keep him company couldn't stand him
If you think about it the greatest country in the world was built on gambling. They were people willing to step out of the way to take the chances required to hit it big.
Hef had the "Gillette mens hairdo".
So you can blame a woman for his inabilty to commit to one woman. If you'd listened he said he was pretty much a rebel at a young age against anything to do with morality. I think his ego was just bruised because it would/should have been he who cheated on his first wife.
Shannyn Tyler she cheated on him first years prior of him cheating
