This new editing style reminds me of the OG style when videos were 20 to 30 mins long and the editor went crazy on the memes and sound effects. It sure brings some kind of nostalgia, however, i really appreciate the kind of *modern* connordawg editing style, a more calm and straight to the point editing, that way you can just enjoy the flow of the video and the narration. I think it’s possible to melt those two styles, that way we can truly appreciate the video and sometimes have a laugh.
I was so happy to see a video made of this 2 month old stream but god i just despise this type of editing. No offense to the editor this is just not it
I know everyone is complaining over overediting stuff, and I agree that sometimes the amount of the memes is just too much, but on a positive side, I really love adding in Connor's and Pete's filmed faces into the clips, the monke one at 38:51 was especially on point
It's by no means all bad, but I also totally understand people not liking it. It just feels like it's all over the place, and sometimes cuts the flow a bit too hard. Could also just be me, since I'm not very "Zoomer-brained". I think they should just stick with a style and go for a "less is more" kind of approach, while doing more on sections that would benefit from it.
@@Andras0Professional Zoomer here! This isn't zoomer style editing problem. It's just a general overediting problem that might stem from editors that were taught bulletpoints: fast paced (there is some form of edit every 4 secs), filled with relatable memes, thrhĵ❤❤

The connor face on the monkey is a good edit, yeah. But I think the problem is just how the video zooms in on connor/pete's face too much when they speak, and it made the video pan in and out, making my head and eyes hurt.

This is really great audio only lmao love the voice acting The editing needs a jjjacksfilms style bingo atp 😭😭 with the unnecessary subtitles and the random zoom ins and sound effects. Saw the vod for this great stream tho
10 minutes in and I love everything about Pete's voice acting for the characters 😂. Even the female voice that sounds like a 1930's phone switch operator or something, lol.
i feel like a lot of the overediting would be solved by the reminder that most people need ~5 seconds to process a new shot or image accurately and fully. otherwise, there's a lot of guessing and, oftentimes, frustration when done repeatedly because i dont dislike the jokes. everything is just so fast that i cant process any of it well, i have to rewind and go "wth was that??" because i didn't have enough time to absorb what i was suddenly seeing come and go other times, i just sighed and went "that was unhelpful" with the Porkrind dialog intro "read-along". the reason why those "see the words flash on screen and how fast you can read?" programs work is because there is no camera movement, just simple text on a simple plain background of high-contrast; there is nothing to visually process besides the letters. but with the Porkrind intro, the camera movement and letter-coloring and whatnot made it very difficult to read along with sound-wise, there is a thing called audio-fatigue that is a tightrope. if things sound too similar (like the walking steps of a character or the damage-sound they make), humans get annoyed. which can be useful, like your fire alarm battery dying and doing that annoying beep so you go fix it. but that's a sound effects thing, it doesn't impact dialog much, not unless you're deadpan and dull. which Connor isn't. and then on the other side of the spectrum, too much new sounds that are done as gags actually lose the humor very quickly, because it starts to actually be "all so new, all the time" that it falls under the same annoyance bug as "sounds too similar all the time". the general consensus as a result, for videos like Connor's, is occasional sound effects with long stretches of no-sound-effects between. very much like the hand-clap thing Hayao Miyazaki has discussed where the rest before/after a clap is just as important as the clap itself, and too many incessant claps again again again with no rest is much less effective. Miyazaki said this about plot, action, and animation; but it applies to sound-editing too, i think. the rest is not the absense needing to be filled, but is rather a silent presence anyway, im not mad about the editing choices, but this is a video where i just... listened and didnt watch, because i realized i wasnt able to process everything, and just groaned at all the sound-effects. still watched it because i loved the original VOD so much, but i feel like a kid after watching Cocomelon: overstimulated and exhausted i wish the editor the best, with said best including learning to let the rest be a silent presence and learning to slow down the editing so people can actually process their hard-work they are trying so hard to polish. much love

There are a number of things that other comments are talking about when it comes to the overediting, and I do agree, but, hopefully, to be a bit constructive, here's some nitpicks I specifically have with the editing: - Pete's footage has a slight amount of saturation change that takes some time to process between shots. Quality, not quantity. - The perspective shifts (like in the text readings) has extra visual noise (the game) surrounding the facecam that forces my brain to fixate on the footage behind them, and not the face. - Auditory gags should be less frequent, especially when it comes to sound effects and clips. When it comes to longer gameplay videos, like Connor's, there's a lot of auditory noise from regular gameplay and their own commentary, that adding more from that my brain gets very fatigued, and the sounds have lost meaning. - This is just my own opinion, but word-for-word edits are too much for me. Just sayin, I personally miss the unhinged Mudan edits from older videos because they were hilarious and done really tastefully. I'm down to see that editing style from Not-Mudan editors on goofier videos but it requires them to recognize when a joke/sfx/commentary will enhance the moment vs. disrupts the flow of entertainment. 👀
I try to play this game with my lil brother, and for the run and gun parts it’s usually him reviving my ghostly self and completing it for the two of us. Overall it’s pretty fun

There are a number of things that other comments are talking about when it comes to the overediting, and I do agree, but, hopefully, to be a bit constructive, here's some nitpicks I specifically have with the editing:
- Pete's footage has a slight amount of saturation change that takes some time to process between shots. While it does help differentiate between the two, the perspectives are so similar that it seems to suddenly change saturation for no reason, and it's jarring.
- Zoom ins and cuts are very frequent, which is what I assume is a lot of what the other comments are referring to. Occasionally doing so for the sake of a joke is fine, but it feels too frequent from a ConnorDawg video, in my opinion.
- A lot of the editing jokes use a very short amount of time to relay it, but, since it takes some time of "not-joke" for a joke to land, I would probably suggest around 20-30% more time for some of them, just to make sure the editing gags that are present actually land, and not pass by too quickly, while also reducing the amount.
This includes the text scrolling on reading the text, the "each word an image" gags, and the repeated sound edits. Could just be a "boomer brain" thing, though.

I wish you all a good day, evening or night, hope you don’t do like me and work for a project to be uploaded in 6:30 hours (because it wasn’t the only project and I need to get my shit together at consistency and organization)
Cheers, monke hugs, and remember that you matter fellow monkes.
The Devil in that intro is so Southern, my phone started leaking gumbo.
best content to date 😂😂❤
I have adhd so personally for me I love the editing style(scratches my brain just right) but I can definitely see how some people wouldn’t like it. It’s can absolutely be overwhelming at times
2:00 I beg your pardon!? 😂😂
Next video idea = CAN I SPEEDRUN MY DIVORCE (SHE TOOK THE KIDS)
i love the chaotic editing. all of these people complaining signify a shift i likely will come to be saddened by
the editing feels all over the place and it almost as if things were randomly put together at some point except some edits dont even have a "start" it just happens in the middle of no where with no punchline. the story telling editing is way better and more comfy. good video either way
edit: i guess playing league for days made it hard to do voice overs for the videos
I like the edits, but the dial could be turned down a tiny bit. Not by much though.
45:00 man i'd love to see the character talking here
Instead of text
I try to play this game with my lil brother, and for the run and gun parts it’s usually him reviving my ghostly self and completing it for the two of us. Overall it’s pretty fun
I hope Connor plays "The Cabin Factory". Pretty spooky and you play as a hot older lady.
I like the bringing back of old editing style cause he playing cuphead like is the og days
What was that clip of a person riding a dragon at 35:36 ? Does anyone know what game that's from?
I enjoyed the edits
not to piledrive a dead topic but this intense editing style really doesnt mesh well with the longer game playthough videos. no shade to it but the core video doesnt need the jokes and cuts - the content is enough to keep me engaged. I'm here for the game not the jokes added in post.
