What size fuse do you put in the plug ? Cheers
I can smell the mint gum from here, lol! Thank you for explaining for dummies. I'm trying to learn electric wiring basics.
niceone super great just what l needed was looking at these transformers couple days ago as l def need one but the wiring it in idea put me off getting one, but seeing you wiring it in really helped . just subbed mate .
WARNING ! , I purchased an identical 230/12v supply unit , and on startup of the 8kw diesel air heater it fried itself , luckily the heater had only just fired up and didn't cook .
Hi Tommy..
Just subscribed to your channel been looking at a few diesel heaters..
Thinking of getting some...
They say have a battery as a backup incase of a power cut.
Could you show the installation of that when you have time..
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Did you add that fuse to it or did it come like that if so what amp is it please thanks
Thanks was a bit confused with 3 - v together and 3 +v all together now it all makes sense. Just a quick mention there is a switch on the side to switch between 110 and 220 in the UK it needs to be at 220 cheers 🍻
Thanks Tommy! The first video i see who really helping people like me who hate where. Lol
Glad it helped 👍🏼
The -V is negative, not earth
I'm sure out of the red and black wire on the diesel heater people know what I'm on about 👍🏼
Great vid I have same setup. I've seen in one comment about setting on the side for 110/220. How do you tell which one it's set to & how can it be changed. TIA
I’ve got the same reducer but I can’t get it down past 18v. Any ideas?
Probably a stupid question but is it just a normal 13 amp fused plug that goes into it
Thanks pal, just bought one, hadn’t a clue
Can you hook up a battery to that as well to the power converter?
I don't have an earth cable with my diesel heater . . . .
What amp fuse do you need in the plug from the mains to transformer please bud? I’ve got a 150w 12.5a one to wire up at the weekend
The main is just the 13a fuse in the plug mate 👍🏼
@@LT_TOMMY_ cheers fella 🤙🏼
What is the name of the converter please i need one of these

Cool, thanks! Glad I decided to look on RUclips, just bought the transformer in your link! Keep up the great content just subscribed 👍🏼 I'll be looking back at previous vids to figure this heater out! Looks to be the same as yours actually, maxpeedingrods??
Thank you mate, glad it helped, if you ok back on my vids, I've done a few diesel heater installs that should help 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
What do you get on the voltage adjustment screw?
Many thanks, needed to see how to and what type of ac/dc to get. Like n sub.
Glad it helped 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you
im in the states...would a 6ft, 12awg 20a power cable work? planning on hooking up to rv/caraven pedestal on a 15 110 ac outlet.
was going to use a similar supply.
Cheers mate. I saw one in another video and it looked like a ram raid at Currys. Sorry if this is a dumb question but does it matter what fuse in in the socket. I'm in Newcastle and some Geordies do actually walk around in T-shirts, but I'm not one. Haha. I love these videos that get to the point and maybe RUclips should have a section of real videos, instead of all those people who like to watch themselves. Hahah. Cheers wor kid.
Like your style Tommy no bullshit you tell it like it’s 👍🏻
Keep it up
Thank you mate, much appreciated 👍🏼
Hi Tommy! Would it be best to have transformer in my shed and have a 10 ft cable to diesel heater, or the other way around, transformer by the diesel heater and 10 ft cable to the shed! Thanks phil
it would have been better if you mentioned the power capacity of your transformer striaghtaway.
Thank you:)
Great help !thank you !
Hi Tommy great video, which transformer is the one to use with a 12v heater you said you had it off Amazon but which one is suitable, thanks again for the video, PS I have just been reading a few articles regarding running the heater off the mains through a 12V adaptor and a few say it will fry the heater when shutting down.
What about using DC power, such as in a camping trailer?
I must of been unlucky as my inverter the same as in the vid lasted 1 day
Good info👍🏼 would there be any issues using the 60a 720w version converter?
Thanks Tommy for making this video 👍
Hope it helped, thanks 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Cheers for the vid, very interesting. Do you have any idea what it costs in electric to run one?
Thanks no gas house so cold Thanks to transformer +heater nice a warm 👍 👍🇬🇧
thank you friend i needed this
You're welcome 👍🏼
What about power cuts ? how would heater go through shut down ?
I'm going to hook up a leisure battery to it at some point as a back up,
In all honesty I don't think I'll be reliant on it, it's more of a project 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@LT_TOMMY_ wouldn’t it make more sense to just have it connected to a 12v leisure battery that’s always plugged into a fully automatic 230vTo12v trickle charger.
Good vid, got myself one of these...OTOTEC LED Regulated Switch Power Supply Transformers 12V 30A 360W...wired it in. My only concern is the fan started up as soon as I put power to it, wonder if it is defective as the fan is only supposed to kick in if the unit gets a bit hot.
Mine kicks in instantly aswell 👍🏼
@@LT_TOMMY_ Thanks for the reply, I just think I misread the advertisement. When it said thermal protection I wrongly assumed the fan would only kick in when it was under load for a while.
Although ran the unit last night with the diesel heater for 5 and half hours and it worked fine.
bought one, but has com port instead of v -
Hi mate can you send link for transformer
In the video description mate 👍🏼 👍🏼👍🏼
The same one is on Amazon but it's a tenner more expensive. No waiting for Royal Mail if you need it in a hurry.
Help if you wasn’t chewing/eating while talking….yuck
Did it help ????
Great video how much was the transformer ,
Thanks mate, was £30, I'll link it below 👍🏼

@@LT_TOMMY_ great thanks everso much 👍
Anyone know where i might find one of these transformers on the high street? Could really do with one today
Amazon prime is next day delivery I think 👍🏼
DO YOU NEED TO ADJUST ANYTHING ON CONVERTER--NEXT TO THE NEON LIGHT IT HAS AN ADJUSTMENT SCREW ?
I didn't adjust anything on mine 👍🏼
Hmm, all my wire is 2 core, do you really need the earth or will it be a shock box without it?
You need the earth on the plug side (240v)
2 core is fine on the 12v side 👍🏼
Certainly did help! Thanks mate!
Glad it helped mate 👍🏼
@@LT_TOMMY_ I’m going to start my set up tomorrow hopefully. It’s for my house I’m putting everything outside with ducting going through a brick vent and out up through the floorboards. Wish me luck!
@@samdub Good luck mate 🤞🏼👍🏼
What size cable do you use for the power cable in ?
I used extension lead cable, think it's 2.5mm flex 👍🏼
I used a kettle lead for the power cable.
Tommy thank you so much you have no idea how much you helped mate
Glad it helped 👍🏼
Nice and clear! Thanks!
Cheers 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
