I haven’t played the others but I liked this game.... the board game was fun for me - i didn’t like the River part as much but overall it was enjoyable game. I’d give it a 7.5
Hello random comment from a big youtuber. Anyways that seems to be the biggest thing about super mario party; alright if you look at it purely as it's own game, but not as good/disappointing when compared to old classics/previous mario party games. Atleast for classic mario party fans.
This is an awesome idea! When he was talking about how the golden pipes cost only 10 coins, the first thing I thought was "my friends and I are definitely gonna play with the rule of not buying golden pipes".
As someone who played Mario Party 1-6 almost religiously, I can say I love Super Mario Party. While the main Mario Party mode is a little lack luster, the other new modes are great. Partner Party is a fun twist on the gameplay (even if it does suck that you have to land directly on the star space). Toad's Rec Room has some great minigames beyond the normal 80. And River Survival is one of the best additions to Mario Party ever. It takes the idea behind the car but actually makes it great. And I love all the new playable characters and the character specific dice blocks and how they make playing different characters actually different beyond just the look. That's before we get to all the great attention to detail stuff (like how Monty Mole freaks out when playing the Whac-a-mole game). This is one of my top games of the year.
We were doing a 4 person group over the weekend and we had so much fun with the rafting mode. Its sort of similar to the fun had in something like overcooked where everyone's yelling directions at each other to paddle or stop paddling. So good.
I've never played Go Vacation, so I can't speak to that, but my wife and I have played Super Mario Party with our 4 year old and while she is pretty terrible at the game, she had a ton of fun and has been constantly asking to play it since.
Being a huge Mario party fan. This game is great, the boards are slightly small, but they actually work much better than I though they would. The minigames are fantastic. I also don't really care about Online mode, because you can't deny that this game is infinitely more fun when playing with people in the same room.
As usual, Nintendo fans say they don't care about the crappy online. Because they know it's crappy and there is no defense for it's crappyness, so best to just ignore its relevance.
I have friends that moved to other countries that I would love to play this game with. So while it's great that you don't have to worry about online because the friends you want to play with are close to you, it would have been nice to have the option to play with my friends that are too far away.
The gold pipe is actually a returning item. I remember playing Mario Party DS, and my sister would always end up with the gold pipe, which would infuriate me back in the day.
It's lacking but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Maybe if the game does well enough, it'll get updates. Also, Koopa's Tycoon Town is the best!
Has a lot of potential. If Nintendo listens to what the fans really want, it can be perfect. I understand they did listen by removing the whole fixed car movement. But The only thing wrong with it for me are the map sizes. Bigger maps. More maps. Maybe we’ll see a brand new franchise, “Super Mario Party 2” etc.
YES i just want more boards and different features in each board i remember one of the mario partys i played with my family had a map that you could buy buildings that gave you stars and then people can pay more then what you paid to take your building and man that map was fun i wish they had innovative maps like that in this game
For me the biggest thing wrong is no online multiplayer. A multiplayer based game isn't multiplayer online... I'd love to play with my friends even when we aren't next to each other.
I’ll be completely shocked if they don’t release new boards (and maybe even characters or items) in a post update to keep interest going in the game. Heck, who knows, they may even enable the full game online. There can’t be many technical challenges preventing it. Nintendo’s been trying for a while to fix Mario Aces, and even put some effort into improving Arms.
Those were both announced before the game was even released. Only time they've added on content to a Switch game without saying anything in advance is MK8D, and it was just a few cosmetics
Well, the theory I have is they're pulling a Splatoon(but probably not on the same scope). Release the game earlier, but unfinished. Then release the rest of the game over time as free DLC to keep the games community alive.(Of course, Splatoon then went beyonnd that and added A LOT more content after adding the content they held back) Nintendo can release games earlier, pleasing fans, the constant free DLC gives them good PR, and they can use the constant updates to keep people coming back to the game.
Ray03595 The only “full price” Switch titles they have not supported post go-live were practically straight ports of Wii U games (DKC, Captain Toad, Hyrule Warriors, etc.). I believe all other titles have had something added to them. For example, there is Luigi’s Balloon MiniGame in Mario Odyssey.
I actually really like this game! Yes only having 4 boards sucks (hoping some dlc boards come our way) and not being able to play the boards online is the stupidist decision ever - but the cool new ally feature combined with the custom dice feature makes the game way more strategic and fun! The mini games are the best yet and the graphics are surprisingly good. If you've enjoyed mario party in the past or are looking for a solid 4 person game you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't at least try it out!
I could see why one would argue either way for online: Im for it because it would be awesome for people who cant always get together Im against it because people will likely rage quit and ruin the experience for others
TheActs2021 the mini games tend to be a bit more challenging - overall Mario party is more geared towards adults and is more polished and competitive. Party has much better lad times and graphics and actual has a decent AI to play with if you’re friends and family aren’t available. In addition, the River Survival more in party is great for 4 person team work and the Partner Party mode lots you play 2v2 so a few more options there. To me Go Vacation isn’t a bad game, but definitely one you’d buy on sale - despite the low Board count I still think Super Mario Party is Worth $60.
Fun fact: Monopoly was made by a feminist woman named Lizzy Magie - The point of the game? To show capitalism was bad and why socialism was more useful. Not communism, but I am sure at least one of you here thinks liberal = socialist = communist with no hint of irony. So, yes, the game you played as a child called Monopoly originally was a game made by a FEMINIST SOCIALIST WOMAAAAAN.
Also a man stole the monopoly idea from Lizzie, and Lizzie isn't credited by Hasbro as they hid any mention of her, claiming it was invented in 1935 by a man named Charles. LOL. #Gamersriseup
Waluigi, as stated by even Nintendo itself, exists solely to give Wario a companion or to fill up rosters for Mario games, ever since his first ever appearance in the first edition of Mario Tennis. So yeah, they pretty much don't acknowledge him otherwise.
Mario party 6 has to be the peak of the series for me. Great boards like the city with the star in the middle with a changing price. Great items like the thwomp stopping peoples roles early, or taking over spaces of the map with a Goomba who forces your opponent to roll a dice to lose their coins. Also where are the dual minigames?!
I love how 8 is finally getting the recognition it deserved. The boards were so good and I want to speak to the person who came up with koopa's tycoon town. That map was so good
I think you have some very valid points and I understand but i simply adore super Mario party. It feels like a evolution of 1-6 in some ways .its not perfect but it’s pretty good. I think it is a step up for MARIO party and the series will grow . ~Hatsandhedgehogd
Thats great! :) Never let other peoples opinons keep you from doing things you enjoy specily with the people you love (unless that something is like arson, don't do arson)
Gabriel Panza It's good, but most people I've played Super Mario Party with thought it was boring and wanted to play something else. They probably didn't like slow paced games.I think it's best to play it with family though.
For the next game Nintendo needs to seriously sort out online. How you only gonna allow one player per switch and then severely limit the number of games you can play in a game with the word “party” in it.
I really don’t see how Mario Party can benefit from an online mode. Half of the joy of Mario Party is the chaos that ensues from 4 people arguing in the same room. An online mode simply cannot replicate that experience even with a voice chat app like discord. It’s for that reason alone that the horrendous online mode in this game is completely negligible to me.
The game has a lot of potential with future DLC. Just imagine larger and more dynamic boards, new items, characters and mini games. I'd gladly buy a DLC bundle at a fair price.
I feel like the smaller boards is a good thing, because it speeds up the pace of the game, not like the time itll take to finish but as in the time it takes to travel between stars and traverse the map, while the quantity of the boards is dissapointing but the size only adds the the havoc
Not a good thing when the boards are so uninspired and repetitive. What happened to the large, complex, and interesting maps of Mario Party 1-8. All of which had great pacing and "havoc". Now all we get is a small square to play in.
Will do. I just hoped people would not support this half baked game. Nintendo won't learn their lesson unless money is lost, and even then they struggle to learn.
I don't even remember the gimmick All I remember is constantly going to my friends house, immediately turn on my DS Wireless Connection, Choosing teams, extra hard CPUs, and praying that 25 turns don't go to waste XD Toadettes music room was phenomenal as well; i can remember how excited I got when I finally got a chance to play the piano
Mario kart revamps and reuses old tracks and does it brilliantly - why can’t Mario party reuse old game boards?? There are so many past iterations they could take from. Also one thing I loved about the DS variants was the ability to do local wireless multiplayer... the DS does it better than the switch 😑
@@GREENWARRI0R not only do they get their own screens, but only one friend would have to shell out the 60$ plus tax to get the game and everyone else can enjoy. I loved the ds for that reason because on the bus I would bring my ds and Mario party and almost everyone on the bus would be involved playing it
Aliendude3799 only one of your friends can buy it and everyone can enjoy it. Buy it and invite everyone over to play Mario Party... it’s not that hard to do
Best Mario party board ever is pyramid park where everyone starts with 5 stars and you use chain chomps to steal each others stars. Sooooo much fun soooooo much salt 😂
I'm so glad someone finally stops calling this game amazing because "it brought back the old system". Yes it brought back the old system...and I guess some invisible blocks too... and that's pretty much it. The measly 4 boards we get are so bland and lackluster and linear. The main thing I loved with the older MP's (1-8) was how the boards tended to have many paths. It made the boards feel very strategic and each board had a distinct character to it. In fact, all 4 of the boards in this mode are copied from other Mario parties: -The whomp board is a lamer concept of Horror Land from MP2. -The bob-omb board is a much smaller and luck based Waluigi Island from Mario party 3. -The fruit board is pretty much Yoshi's Tropical Island from MP1 (not fond of either) -Finally, the Kamek board is a boring version of Faire Square from MP6 and one of the best boards, Pagoda Peak from MP7. I am not gonna lie, I kinda like Partner Party. It has the same strategy based feel that the original mario parties had. In all honesty, I would not mind this being its own entire Mario Party (though many probably disagree). The main problem I have with it in this game is its simply just a lazy rehash of the same 4 boards we already had. I feel like it cheats us out of content that we rightfully should have deserved. The online is HORRIBLE. Like mentioned in the video, it is still just 10 minigames which makes it feel super lack-luster. It also uses peer to peer connection which causes EXTREME lag and I usually get disconnected because of it. I honestly don't get why we can't have all 80 minigames and ESPECIALLY why we can't have boards. Fortune street for the wii did this in 2011 and despite it being really hard to find a match with wait times being 30+ minutes, you would rarely experience people leaving since people sit down to play a long board. If people want to sit down and play a long game of mario party, why can't that same logic be applied? The thing that I personally enjoy most was the minigames. River survival was kinda meh but it was a cool idea just with too few minigames. Going to the full minigame collection, I feel like we have some of the best collection of minigames here. There are quite a few bad minigames *cough* Maths of Glory but 75% of the minigames I look forward to playing when I get them. Challenge road was fine but I feel like it was too easy (even a lot of the master challenges are relatively easy). To me, this game is not horrible. Its definitely WAY WAY better than MP10 and a bit better than MP9 but compared to MP1-8, it looks like a joke. It honestly feels like nintendo made something lackluster just for the sake people would buy it because of the new system. People need to get a slap of reality and get off the hype train and realize how much nintendo really failed to deliver.
...out of this whole wall of text the only thing I got from it was the boards were bland. The boards are smaller, yeah, and I will admit less creative, but I don't think it subtracts from the experience at all, really. (Yeah, onlines kinda bad though)
Mario party 10 had amibo board which you can play the old system and customise the boards by unlocking tokens plus they found a better use for the carts with bowser party the boards in mario party 10 are great in my opinion and it has cool minigames in my opinion
Mario Party 8 had the best maps... Booty Boardwalk, Perplex Express, Tycoon Town, Haunted Hideaway, Treetop Temple. All Amazing. The only bad one was that Warped Orbit thing.
I love Super Mario Party, The series has always been one of my favorite series. My only problem is there is too few things to do. 4 maps is PATHETIC. The very first n64 entry had 6 i believe.
The good: There's no car. The bad: Having multiple modes is great on paper, but needed to be fleshed out. Especially with things like maps. The worse: Yoshi's dice block.
In mario party 8 (i think) there was a city map where you could go in taxis and something to do with the town hall i believe. But yeah. The city and train map were the best
Hey @BeatEmUps, just stopping to say I love your enthusiasm for videogames even when the games aren't perfect. My favorite videos are the "eshop games worth buying" and "videogame announcements you didn't know about". Thanks for the cool videos!
Oh man, but I actually liked the game. However i never played the other mario party games and interestingly enough my favorite part was the board part of the game and I was waiting for the mini games to be over
Nikolas Perez Most people who played the old Mario Party games liked this game. He was just so caught up on there being very little boards he didn’t let himself enjoy it or see all the new and fun stuff it’s brought to the series
@@Miriam_J_ Yeah I'm going to call bullshit on this lol. Most everyone I've seen outside this comment section has had at least one major complaint with this game. Several about the lack of content and lackluster online.
Bought the game. Own a pair of joycons and 3 pro controllers. Get ready to play with my friends and brothers. You can only use a joycon to play. Only 2 people played at a time.
Well, that is not something that hasn't been announced beforehand, not something that hasn't been said on the box of the game.... sorry but you could've knowm better.
You know I have gone to appreciate this game. It’s definitely a step in the right direction. Super Mario Party is not perfect, and the only grip I have with it is for sure the boards. Other than that I hope the next Mario Party game will be a true successor to Mario Party 8 which was the last good Mario Party we got.
Same here. It’s a good game all things considered (the boards are at least decent, and Super had one of my favorite mini game collections), but it falls into the exact same trap that the Link’s Awakening remake fell into in the sense that no amount of polish for both games can justify the $60 price tag for how barebones both games are. Other than that, I don’t get the complaints, especially the online part. The joy of Mario Party comes from the chaos that ensures while playing in the same room. An online party mode would just take that chaos factor away if it isn’t with friends that have discord on standby, which wouldn’t even have the same feeling anyways. Also, I actually prefer Super to 8 for multiple reasons. Unpopular opinion: I’m actually not fond of 8’s boards other than Bowser’s orbital and Koopa’s Tycoon Town. King Boo’s haunted mansion has my vote for the worst board in the series. Also, I hate the mini game collection as a whole in 8. 8 was one of those games that fell victim to the early Wii era trap of forcing games to have motion controls for the sake of motion controls, and while some of them work like in kart wheeled and shooting games, it just sucks in more games than I care to count like Nick of Time and especially Rotation Station. Also, 8 has some of the most horrendous 1 v 3 balance in the series history (I’m not sure there’s a single game that is very fair for both sides. Chump rope has my vote for the most horrendous balance ever. As long as you spam the rope as the 1, you can’t possibly lose.). It also has a bunch of dud mini games with it without motion controls (rudder madness is the worst mini game ever made aside from the stick rotation games in 1). 8 might have the content, but too much of it falls flat to matter imho.
That’s stupid. Rather, why not make a game feel actually complete and not feel rushed and fall flat when compared to previous titles, only to have people say that you have nostalgia goggles on for pointing this issue out as a defense, then having to rely on DLC just to make it not feel like it was rushed? A future title for a series that’s supposed to trying out new content and/or saying that they’re going back to traditional routes should be an improvement over things that could’ve been potentially done in previous titles and expansive on content and the world of that franchise itself, not be a step back or a softie as if it’s afraid to go far. These games like Super Mario Party, Mario Tennis Aces, and Kirby Star Allies, and possibly more that I didn’t mention aren’t terrible, they just end up feeling mediocre and rushed for people who see this growing issue with some Nintendo games this year. Nintendo puts some of these games out a bit too early just to see how the majority of the public eye will eat it up and if a majority of people do eat it up, then they’ll pump out DLC. But if a majority of people see through their crap, then they’ll not bother to put much DLC and will just forget about it later on. And then most of the Nintendo community here or fanbase will go into an annoying constant bickering battle between defending it or hating it because so and so.
The only issue I see for Super Mario Party is the online but then this game is really fun, like a Mario Party should be. This is a game you should have if your family wants to do something new with the Joycons. People basically asked Nintendo to go back to the old times, Nintendo gave us that and added something new with the Joycons. Online was never the point with Mario Party because the fun was seeing your friends faces when they win or loose, of course.. Hopefully they do something better with the online.
@@SirMopy I don't desagree with you at all. I actually believe Nintendo has done an awful job about fue online service in everything. I am just pointing out that at least Nintendo did listen some concerns about this franchised and I still think that it is still early and maybe they could do something better. I apologyze if my post just expressed the way I saw it. You are right. There should be an option to everyone. I was just saying that this game has a lot of content, it is just not the 4 boards, they included the dancing mode and the cooperative mode with the boat in the river + outside games that you find walking. It is not all just bad, there are good stuff.
Online was never the point of Mario party because it wasn't a thing for the first few and Nintendo's refusal to acknowledge the internet exists for the last few, but this was their chace to jump into this century gaming wise and they blew it.
Its 2018. Get with the times or get left behind. Oh and also Nintendo didn't go back to the old times, they didn't listen to the fans. Watch Mario Party 8 gameplay, the last worthwhile one, and compare it to this one. Pretty clear difference.
We played yesterday for about three hours. 4 year old, 16 year old and my wife and I. We had a BLAST! Loved it to pieces. My four year old and I have been loving the 2 v 2 mode (vs 2 computers) and the river co-op mode. These modes, which have been amazing for my situation, were not really mentioned. I haven't played the boards enough (the unlockable one at all yet) but I like the bomb king board the most so far. Tighter and more options for where you can go, it is great. We have had so much fun with Mario Party so far. For a family, it is an easy purchase - highly recommended.
Everyone: The Golden Pipe is so cheap Me who rolled a zero after using a golden pipe: Allow me to introduce myself I mean seriously, how do you mess that up?
they could have fully gone and taken everyones fav board for all the other games and dumped them in this game and ppl would happy. imma keep playing my gamecube mario party
Well, I see a lot of people saying good and bad things about mario party. However, I think this game looks so good to play and I can have a good time with friends. In other words, I am going to buy it and try it.
Another Achilles Heel to the game is in fact that if you have the Nintendo Switch Lite it is not natively supported, unless if you have bought joycons.....And they're $70 for a pair.....
They just need more boards, i like the game its pretty awesome! Mario party is also good for drinking! For example “whoever loses the mini game takes a shot”
Sure, there’s only four boards, but hey. We have river survival, sound stage, and solo mode. Which are really fun. Not to mention that this solo mode is the best one in the franchise. The boards may not be the best, but there’s always a free update or dlc. Who knows, we could get 2-4 more boards, and they may be pretty fun. For right now, I give this game an 8.
river survival is fun the first few times but gets old REALLY fast. and the problem isn't that there's only 4 boards. the problem is that ALL OF THEM SUCK. And even if we had good boards, the gameplay is GARBAGE, only the minigames are fun
None of my friends bought this game when I told them about the online and my girlfriend wouldn't play it anymore after 2 days because it was just boring. 100% agree, you screwed this one up Nintendo, just like the online for almost all your games. What are we even paying for?
Idea for potential DLC 4 new characters: Cappy 0,1,5,5,5,5 Nabbit -2,-3,5,7,8,9 Spike +1,-2,+3,-4,+5,10 Piranha plant 0,1,4,5,7,8 2 new game boards: A forest themed board who's design is very narrow and has many branching paths. It has Peatty Piranha roaming the stage and heads towards the player who was the last to land on a event space or until three turns are up. if he catches the player ( he also effects any other player in the path) they would get sent back to the middle (this could be beneficial if you are at the opposite side of the star). He also rolls the same dice as you do and also rolls for all the allies you have (1,2 dice). If you use a custom dice he rolls the standard die but still includes the allies. A ghost house themed board who's main gimmick is that it's split into a 4 x 4 grid (it has a 2×2 bit in the middle that doesn't move) and landing on an event space has king boo ( not the luigi's mansion one but just a large boo with a crown on ) and he switches 2 of grid spaces around or sometimes he will switch 2 rows around ( this would also change the paths around) (Also for partner party) the forest board still maze like but Peatty Piranha just roams the board. He moves around faster and steals some coins from the player instead of sending back to the middle. The ghost house is the same except the chance for the board to move around is determined if a player lands on a blank space (that is not in the middle of the board that doesn't move) and works the same for the hidden block. *And possibly ten or twenty new mini games
I've never played a Mario Party until this one and I had a blast playing with my wife! We want to go buy 2 more Joy Cons now just so we can play with our friends :) I think you might have set yourself some high expectations based on past titles and/or hype around the game. I'd say, take it for what it is and lets hope that they add some more boards and that the online features get flushed out a bit more in updates. Remember that the online service JUST came out and they're probably limiting features until it's been well tested. Nintendo wouldn't want anyone to have connection/lag issues because they believe in quality products (like you've said on the channel before). I hope the move to the new house is going well for you both!
Excuses. Excuses. Its 2018. They are a triple A company. Nintendo has no reason, none, to not be able to implement a full fledged online offering and functionality. Having to hope that DLC or updates in the future will make the game good/better says enough about the game itself.
If you want a "full fledged" online service, then you'd be paying $60 a year. I think there is enough value in the service at the moment to justify the $20 price point Nintendo has set and they've been clear about what the service offers currently. Again, it's people's self-set expectations that become the issue. As for the game, if you bought it without doing any research on it's functionality/gameplay and are upset that it doesn't meet you self-set expectations, then you only have yourself to blame.
A 14 minute video, with way too many adverts is pretty bad form, TV isn't even that bad. Maybe one or two is acceptable but not this many and especially not in the middle of you talking. Doesn't matter that you make excellent videos, if its being interrupted during mid-sentence it makes the viewing experience bad. I know this process is somewhat automatic in the first instance, but you should be able to go in an alter how many appear during and when they appear. After three ads I tend to get so irritated I'm more likely to just stop watching.
The thing is, a golden pipe is OP on that map since it will always bring you to the right jar. If it let you choose which jar or spawned you to a random one, the board would be a lot more balanced.
@@leonpaelinck I think if we consider the coin cost of golden pipe, it would be so unfair for the person who buys that item. Maybe it would be better if golden pipes would cost double the price specifically for Kamek's Library.
Most of Mario Party 4 & 6 boards were unique and fun af. My favorite is Neon Heights from MP7 and tbh all the boards from that game were lit. I even liked all the boards from 8 my faves being Boo’s Mansion.
I love your vids Wood (and thanks for this one), but I do hope you’d play a bit more of the game before you judge fully. As some other comments mentioned already, there are more than just mushroom items. Not to mention, even those mushroom items have more importance and variety since each character has specific dice blocks that those can be applied to (in regards to your comments on there not being as much strategy). I’d also say the majority of your other concerns could be alleviated with dlc or updates. The emphasis in the review could be put on the fact that at launch the game is not quite what it could be. The game is fun enough with friends at launch, and if you’re buying Mario party to play it alone... well you shouldn’t be expecting too much. I’ll agree that forcing players to unlock the mini games for solo mode first was an odd choice. And that only allowing a select few mini games to be playable online was a bit cheap, But yet again that is fixable with an update if it gets enough backlash. Some of these switch games feel like completely different games months after their launch.
Did you play Mario Party 8 at launch or now for that matter? No need to have "DLC or updates" as an excuse to make the game better. Leagues beyond this abysmal excuse for a Mario Party game.
I wanted this game to be a resurgence of the good. Taking all the best of the previous games, and finally giving us a true sequel instead of what Mario party 6-onward were like. Maybe even incorporate the best games of the series like that failed Top 100 game. Instead, we got this game. A return to form, pretty looking, functional, good or even great attention to detail. But missing some creativity, and some... intensity? This is a fun game, but it doesn't have that Theme that 1-3 had, it doesn't have color and excitement of 4 and 5, and it feels a little soulless. Like looking at a sweet treat or candy but then finding out it tastes kinda subdued or a little flat.
What? 6 was one of if not the best one though. I though 7 and especially DS were fun times. 8 and afterwards, I’ll easily give you that. Still, I actually think Super is better than 5 (dear lord, 5 has so many luck based games and awful mini games)
This is what I'm thinking: A lot of us are obviously disappointed and a lot of us are very happy. I'm personally kind of disappointed. I really enjoyed Mario Party 8 and Mario Party DS. I feel as Nintendo is trying to grab a new younger audience with this game (not just this game, Let's Go Eevee and Let's Go Pikachu) which isn't bad it's just not as appealing to the older audience. I wish they would make the game more interesting by adding exciting spaces and items, it just looks so boring. Remember this is just an opinion :)
Actually this seems to cater to the more nostalgic players like myself that grew up with the original 3. I think it does that fantastically. If anything 8 catered more to kids with ultra simplistic motion games that ended in a few seconds.
I disagree this game features mini games from older titles which appeals to the older audiences. Also Pokémon let’s go is a regular Pokémon yellow remake just utilizing the switch’s motion technology to make a new catching mechanic.
Let’s not forget that there’s 2 characters that are locked behind the single player mode, which like you said is locked behind its own wall and also 2 of the characters are unlockable characters one from the single player and the other in a team based mode and the amiibos are practically useless to make it another way of unlocking them since amiibos do nothing in the game
The Baggoom So what we can infer from this is- Mario Party had boards, characters, environments, graphics, code, dice, different modes, minigames, and now online. Since those are the "Mario Party" side if things, it's like saying the entirety of Super Mario Party is good. And anything that isn't Super Mario Party is bad. You might wanna rephrase that sentence.
Happy early birthday, Wood! I usually agree with your reviews; however, I think your review is a little off on this one. You didn't even mention River Survival which is a super fun mode. I agree there should be more boards, but Megafruit Paradise is super colourful and fun. It does feel like a Wii U game that will have DLC rolled out. One thing I do agree with 100% is the online component! Was disappointed you can't play the boards in full online, so now I'll be sticking to Splatoon.
Hopefully Mario's Next Party will have better snacks and more sody pop. Share this with your friends so that Mario considers getting a new Party Planner. SUBSCRIBE!

the train from mario party 8 wii was mine and the business map and the haunted house
Or the music one with the hammer bros
From the 5 of the ds that's my least favourite
That map feels like a worse version of neon city from 7

I haven’t played the others but I liked this game.... the board game was fun for me - i didn’t like the River part as much but overall it was enjoyable game. I’d give it a 7.5
Hello random comment from a big youtuber.
Anyways that seems to be the biggest thing about super mario party; alright if you look at it purely as it's own game, but not as good/disappointing when compared to old classics/previous mario party games. Atleast for classic mario party fans.
It's Alex Clark I am OBSESSED with the board game
when a big youtuber doesnt get a lot of likes
It's Alex Clark that chess boxing going well?
I love you
Would have preferred a Mario Party 1-3 HD enhancement on Switch.
Key word, enhancement, I don't want them to touch ANYTHING else
I think 3-5 would be GOLD on the switch
Mario party 5 is what we need
aint no such thing as a hd enhancement of an n64 game lol

It would actually be cool that you could set the price of the stars and the items you can get etc...
This is an awesome idea! When he was talking about how the golden pipes cost only 10 coins, the first thing I thought was "my friends and I are definitely gonna play with the rule of not buying golden pipes".
In the fourth board, the price of stars changes from 5 to 10 to 15 coins which is a twist
Try kamek's board it's amazing.
Don't forget the amount of. Turns as well 10-15-25 to me was just sad and weak especially with only 4 boards available
This comment has 69 likes so I will show my support with a smiley face :)
But yeah, that would be awesome if their were more customisation options
Am I the only one who loved the Koopa hotel board in Mario Party 8?
Consie no
Me it was my favourite

That is the best

Love how your suggestions for an ultimate Mario party game is actually happening now.
Hi, would you recommend Super Mario Party or Go Vacation for a good family game ?
We were doing a 4 person group over the weekend and we had so much fun with the rafting mode. Its sort of similar to the fun had in something like overcooked where everyone's yelling directions at each other to paddle or stop paddling. So good.
I've never played Go Vacation, so I can't speak to that, but my wife and I have played Super Mario Party with our 4 year old and while she is pretty terrible at the game, she had a ton of fun and has been constantly asking to play it since.
THANK YOU! I agree!!
What's the best Mario Party from 1-6 in your opinion?
Me watching the beginning: so basically its not disappointing
Me watching the middle and end: oh.
I really don’t see many of the cons as actual cons, more like minor annoyances.
@@kyber2jz616 yeah
Being a huge Mario party fan. This game is great, the boards are slightly small, but they actually work much better than I though they would. The minigames are fantastic. I also don't really care about Online mode, because you can't deny that this game is infinitely more fun when playing with people in the same room.
As usual, Nintendo fans say they don't care about the crappy online. Because they know it's crappy and there is no defense for it's crappyness, so best to just ignore its relevance.
Totally agree with you there’s more to do here than just party mode, I love partner mode too! It’s fun!
I have friends that moved to other countries that I would love to play this game with. So while it's great that you don't have to worry about online because the friends you want to play with are close to you, it would have been nice to have the option to play with my friends that are too far away.
Agree, this game is very good. Didn't enjoy a Mario Party game since MP DS.
I think it’s a good game but the online is extremely disappointing
The gold pipe is actually a returning item. I remember playing Mario Party DS, and my sister would always end up with the gold pipe, which would infuriate me back in the day.
@@SoulEssence Who cares? It performs the *exact same function.*
Soul Essence I appreciate the specific clarification

Soul Essence to change it, they took off the star design and polished it. I'm just pointing it out.
It's lacking but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Maybe if the game does well enough, it'll get updates.
Also, Koopa's Tycoon Town is the best!
Yes! is Koopa Tycoon Town in this mario party too?
@@cameronsnyder6727 sadly it is not.

I would even be rdy to pay 1-3$ per board ....
Bagel Byte I just don’t understand why they took the Backsteps in the first place.
Bagel Byte 100% agree!
@@AlanGonzalez-ev6ur I remember those, they were fuuuuun. I think i'll hold back on buying this game if they maybe release a new one
For me the biggest thing wrong is no online multiplayer. A multiplayer based game isn't multiplayer online... I'd love to play with my friends even when we aren't next to each other.
Change the title to Mario Party 11 and I'll be happy
I’m from the future
They did the opposite of what you said
Im happy with The Game itself, but there are some things I would have changed, mostly small things tho.
I have nothing against the game i love it. Been super fun with my friends lol
9:41 Luckily, they updated Super Mario Party so you can play 70 of the mini-games, Mario Party, and Partner Party online
They will
This is Nintendo. They won’t do any of that.
Well, the theory I have is they're pulling a Splatoon(but probably not on the same scope). Release the game earlier, but unfinished.
Then release the rest of the game over time as free DLC to keep the games community alive.(Of course, Splatoon then went beyonnd that and added A LOT more content after adding the content they held back)
Nintendo can release games earlier, pleasing fans, the constant free DLC gives them good PR, and they can use the constant updates to keep people coming back to the game.
I could see why one would argue either way for online:
Im for it because it would be awesome for people who cant always get together
Im against it because people will likely rage quit and ruin the experience for others
That's dumb make a game with lacking content just to add and charge for dlc later bruh
A Random Dude on RUclips 100% agree - still it seems to be the current trend
How would you compare it to Go Vacation ?
TheActs2021 the mini games tend to be a bit more challenging - overall Mario party is more geared towards adults and is more polished and competitive. Party has much better lad times and graphics and actual has a decent AI to play with if you’re friends and family aren’t available. In addition, the River Survival more in party is great for 4 person team work and the Partner Party mode lots you play 2v2 so a few more options there. To me Go Vacation isn’t a bad game, but definitely one you’d buy on sale - despite the low Board count I still think Super Mario Party is Worth $60.
1:47 that's called playing monopoly as a communist
im dead thanks
“In Soviet Russia...” ran through my head when he said that
Your comment deserves way more likes.
LOL.

Mario Party 8 will always have a place in my heart since I would play it with my 2 aunts. We had so much fun❤️
"It's time to potty, with Mario Potty!" Sounds like a commercial.
I'm actually disappointed about Waluigi having the worst dice block. Did the developers secretly disrespect him?
Worst? That’s a funny way to say Monty Mole. DK’s is also miles worse to.
Nintendo openly hates him by only relegating him to side games and hardly acknowledging him.
You can still win with him.
Waluigi, as stated by even Nintendo itself, exists solely to give Wario a companion or to fill up rosters for Mario games, ever since his first ever appearance in the first edition of Mario Tennis.
So yeah, they pretty much don't acknowledge him otherwise.
I actually think his dice block is pretty good. You have a 50% to roll at least a 5...
Mario party 6 has to be the peak of the series for me. Great boards like the city with the star in the middle with a changing price. Great items like the thwomp stopping peoples roles early, or taking over spaces of the map with a Goomba who forces your opponent to roll a dice to lose their coins. Also where are the dual minigames?!

mario party 8 was the best one, we loves the board where we became hotel owners!
Mario party 8 is my favorite too. I think it gets too much hate

Gabriel Panza It's good, but most people I've played Super Mario Party with thought it was boring and wanted to play something else. They probably didn't like slow paced games.I think it's best to play it with family though.
@@xhaxa1079 it's so bland compared to other mario party games. Everything is so generic.
But that is setting precedent for Nintendo to include less and less content from the start, and instead remove it and make you pay more for it later.
I'd prefer having a decent, well planned game from the start tbh. As it stands, with the online and SP stuff, I have no reason to purchase it.
Exactly this.
Congratulations you're the problem
Dude, the game is already $60...
My favorite board of all time is koopa's tycoon town
ikr
I will still love Mario Party 9 because it was the first Nintendo Wii game I ever played. I still love the volcano map in it.
I feel like the smaller boards is a good thing, because it speeds up the pace of the game, not like the time itll take to finish but as in the time it takes to travel between stars and traverse the map, while the quantity of the boards is dissapointing but the size only adds the the havoc
My thoughts exactly on the board size
Aurox Shayne not to mention that it’s necessary because the dice block goes up to 6 instead of 10 like in the old games
Not a good thing when the boards are so uninspired and repetitive. What happened to the large, complex, and interesting maps of Mario Party 1-8. All of which had great pacing and "havoc". Now all we get is a small square to play in.
I feel like it's all balanced nicely dont like it return your copy or dont buy it 🤙
Will do. I just hoped people would not support this half baked game. Nintendo won't learn their lesson unless money is lost, and even then they struggle to learn.
This game is one step forwards and like 5 boards back.
More like 4 but yeah
Almost every Mario Party ever
I'm a little tired of this trend of Nintendo games launching at full price with either lacking content or major oversights honestly.

Mario kart revamps and reuses old tracks and does it brilliantly - why can’t Mario party reuse old game boards?? There are so many past iterations they could take from.
Also one thing I loved about the DS variants was the ability to do local wireless multiplayer... the DS does it better than the switch 😑
Why would you want to do local wireless multiplayer when you can all play on one Switch?

Best Mario party board ever is pyramid park where everyone starts with 5 stars and you use chain chomps to steal each others stars. Sooooo much fun soooooo much salt 😂
Personally I think Snowflake Lake did that concept better

Bowser's Warped Orbit from Mario Party 8 lets you do that as well.
This was the first mario party I got and its one of are favorite games we play with my friends
I got a super mario party ad on this video.....
In fact, all 4 of the boards in this mode are copied from other Mario parties:
-The whomp board is a lamer concept of Horror Land from MP2.
-The bob-omb board is a much smaller and luck based Waluigi Island from Mario party 3.
-The fruit board is pretty much Yoshi's Tropical Island from MP1 (not fond of either)
-Finally, the Kamek board is a boring version of Faire Square from MP6 and one of the best boards, Pagoda Peak from MP7.
For reals this is the 3rd worst Mario party easy
All the boards were so unmemorable in super, same with 4
Mario party 10 had amibo board which you can play the old system and customise the boards by unlocking tokens plus they found a better use for the carts with bowser party the boards in mario party 10 are great in my opinion and it has cool minigames in my opinion

With 2 people its still pretty fun
Neku Sakuraba Well, that's you fault you didn't documentate yourself,so...
And this is why im not buying it.
8:40 *cough* mario party superstars *cough* lol
wood predicting the future
Nintendo got one option: DLC baby
Yeah
But think of the pretty lines you can draw on the road ;)
DLC shouldnt be seen as an excuse to have less content on the base game. We gave no idea if this game us getting DLC either.

Don't It is too generic. So much I look at my phone to wait for my turn on the board
@@kevinaguilar7541 I think it’s better than 5, 8, and everything that came in between 8 and Super (unless DS came after Super)
the BEST Mario Party is the one in N64 (THE BEST).
The nostalgia, it was such a fun game
Agreed. Mario part 3 is the best, but after 5... They became garbage.
the only mario party that matters! Huge boards, insanely fun mini games, no items at least from what i remember, oh I loved it.
I like the DS one
@@Raylightsen Mario Party 8 was fun. The best in my opinion.
Happy (early) Birthday, Wood!
Another Achilles Heel to the game is in fact that if you have the Nintendo Switch Lite it is not natively supported, unless if you have bought joycons.....And they're $70 for a pair.....
Mario party 9 and 10 were borderline Socialist LOL
They just need more boards, i like the game its pretty awesome!
Mario party is also good for drinking! For example “whoever loses the mini game takes a shot”
Fellow watcher of SGB’s drunk Mario Party’s?
Hi how are you
Mario party 6,8 and DS were amazing
The only ones I have played
6 and DS definitely were. 8, not so much. I’d rather play Super over 8.
Idea for potential DLC
4 new characters:
Cappy 0,1,5,5,5,5
Nabbit -2,-3,5,7,8,9
Spike +1,-2,+3,-4,+5,10
Piranha plant 0,1,4,5,7,8
2 new game boards:
A forest themed board who's design is very narrow and has many branching paths.
A ghost house themed board who's main gimmick is that it's split into a 4 x 4 grid (it has a 2×2 bit in the middle that doesn't move) and landing on an event space has king boo ( not the luigi's mansion one but just a large boo with a crown on ) and he switches 2 of grid spaces around or sometimes he will switch 2 rows around ( this would also change the paths around)
(Also for partner party)
the forest board still maze like but Peatty Piranha just roams the board.
Sam4gaming that would be amazing!

If you actually loved playing this, then you're going to *_LOOOVVVEE_* Mario Party 2. :)
@@JeremyBX Thanks for thr comment! I'll have to check it out and maybe get an emulator going on my computer for it :)
Excuses. Excuses.
Happy birthday
Well well well, looks like the game got the long awaited online update
....just in time for me to buy it! Yay
BeatEmUps uploads and the depression goes away
A 14 minute video, with way too many adverts is pretty bad form, TV isn't even that bad. Maybe one or two is acceptable but not this many and especially not in the middle of you talking. Doesn't matter that you make excellent videos, if its being interrupted during mid-sentence it makes the viewing experience bad.
I know this process is somewhat automatic in the first instance, but you should be able to go in an alter how many appear during and when they appear.
After three ads I tend to get so irritated I'm more likely to just stop watching.
you browse the internet without AdBlock Plus? The hell's the matter with you?
So he can support BeatEmUps for free basically?? Why would you AdBlock on RUclips channels you want to support?
ay I mean RUclips is a free service, and using adblock would take money from him.
I don't use adblock on most channels. But I definitely do on ones that get too greedy like this one.
He's more medium imo
I like the mechanic in Mario Party Star Rush where everyone moves at the same time, hope they bring that.
Bring back the mario 7 chain chomp map !
Waluigi #1 that one was so good
Just bring back 6 and 7.
Kamek's Library on Mario Part DS is my favorite. It was challenging and full of different map mechanics. Good old days...
Mario party 8 was my favorite! I remember it being so much fun with my cousins and siblings 🤣
Is 8 the same one on the switch?
Most of Mario Party 4 & 6 boards were unique and fun af. My favorite is Neon Heights from MP7 and tbh all the boards from that game were lit. I even liked all the boards from 8 my faves being Boo’s Mansion.
Slay Xay Really? Neon Heights being good is a pretty unpopular. But I’m not judging you or anything, I just wanted to say that
I love your vids Wood (and thanks for this one), but I do hope you’d play a bit more of the game before you judge fully.
Quantum Witcher it’s not abysmal, you are being dramatic
This is what I'm thinking:
A lot of us are obviously disappointed and a lot of us are very happy.
Well im like 15 and i enjoy all the mp games
@@kbreezy2025 a crappy mechanic that should've been never conceived
Let’s not forget that there’s 2 characters that are locked behind the single player mode, which like you said is locked behind its own wall and also 2 of the characters are unlockable characters one from the single player and the other in a team based mode and the amiibos are practically useless to make it another way of unlocking them since amiibos do nothing in the game
Good thing i have a brother, he has to be my friend
So what I understand is: the Mario party side of Mario party is great.
The everything else of Mario party is bad.
@@ethaan3164 well he's not wrong

We share the same birthday! Congrats, mate.
There's no Funky Kong in Super Mario Party that's what I hate about this game
Funky Kong is a crack head lol
Funky Kong is stuck in the endless void of Mario Kart Wii Time Trials.
Not every game will be perfect, but that doesn't make every imperfect game bad.
Number 27 I was expecting another Mario party 8 and they took that away from me
I Lish! Wow you’re a genius!
I Lish! Mario party 8 is the best party
LMAO, again classic comment section. this game not perfect, but but that doesnt mean every game is bad , NOW REPENT ~! LMAO
Super Mario Party is pretty bad
..........online play has been updated.
Wow I was never this early before!
Super Mario Party to me was pretty decent it's miles better than 9 & 10.
You're kidding right? Its miles better than 6, 7 and 8. Especially in the minigame department
Sorry I meant 5 not 6, can't edit comment on phone >>
@@BigBossJelly Are you talking to me?
I wish we had DLC Boards in Super Mario Party!
What's sad is that Toad, Toadette and little monkey couldn't join the party
