I think Krist actually can sing but he just liked to goof off a lot during the Nirvana days. He can play guitar and accordion pretty well too as demonstrated in the Unplugged show.
Amazingly great band. As for the technique, I must say as someone who plays guitar and sings himself, I find Kurt one of the hardest rock stars to keep up with. He was a magician on guitar and vocals, and as a song writer, he was a true genius.

Reading 92 is my fav show. Sound desk did a great job, mix is perfect. The whole band seem totally into it Kurt jumping around a stage screaming and making an absolute racket with his guitar, i think thats all he ever wanted to do, he seemed like he was having so much fun. What a band. RIP Kurt. The lyrics describe Kurts life but he never ever lost his humanity

They're nearly off the rails in this performance, (Krist's chaoticly angelic backing vocals, Kurt's general being and state during this show, and Dave's brutality -even for him, on the drums) But they keep it together somehow and turn it into one of the wildest and most amazing performances of all time.

Tooki kurts tone is really easy to get, any fender guitar with stock pickups will do. Boss Ds1 for a distortion pedal. Cobain never put that much of an effort in his tone, doesnt go with the whole punk rock aesthetic
