You needed a pole pruning tool. Here in America, they are extendable from 6' to around 15' and have a pruning saw blade on one side, and also an "eagle beak" sheer blade on the other whose jaws will open about an inch and a half. You could have cut the original twig where the swarm was with those jaws and had it fall gently into the pole bucket if Mark would help.(he needs to set the camera up on a tripod every now and then anyway.) The pole for the bucket can easily be made from using an extendable painters pole commonly used for paint rollers. Same deal, the long ones will extend from about 6 feet to over 15. Great vid guys, hope this can help. P.S.....for the love of God, use the proper lid for those buckets! Cut a square hole in the lid and cover with screen so it actually can stay on the bucket.
Mark have you considered using a bee box (hive) with a few drawn frames in it instead of the plastic box. You could put screen over the entry for transport. Then you could just put the bees where you want when finished with the catch. Just seems wound be easier on you.
Hi Mark have caught a few high swams,. 20ltr bucket on your pole and a 2nd pole ,like a long bamboo with a fishing gaff hook on the end. Put the bucket under the swam use the other hook to grab the branch and shake the swam and they fall into the bucket.
When they are low like that i sit a box on the limb strap it down if needed and put a drop of swarm commander on the inside and they will walk right in.
John I spray the areas the swarm were clustered on with air freshener etc, helps mask the queen's pheromones to encourage them to stop going back and go to her majesty. As for the tree bees....sometimes you need to say nope
trick is to get fishing line tie a weight on the end cast it over the limb close to the swarm lower the weight back to the ground tie a drawn out frame to the end and pull it back up to the swarm they will cluster on it lower it back down to your reg bee box and put it in no latter needed.
LoL wonder how many cups of coffee he starts his day on?? I love his ADHD self lol 😅😅 you know his wife has learned to tune out 96% of what he says or does lol
Mark, I thought you were a goner perched on top of that ladder. Any swarms under 10 feet are worth collecting, over 10 feet can look after their selves. Please be careful collecting swarms.
I screwed two frames on two sticks cross and in middle a have a 3/4” plastic pipe one or two depends on high let them fully fill the frames an put in box or replace the frames work better
Id make a plywood lid for that with frames screwed to it so its a lid and a super if they build on the frames, then id drill an entrance in the side of it and use it as a swarm trap lol.. just put a starpicket where ever you want a 15ft high swarm trap lol.. bush bee man gonna have high-rise condos for bees all over his town soon.. heck if your real fancy you coukd make them look like little red barns or little bush cottages with little bull nose verandas haha and councils might fund you tonbuild them and put them around towns
Not the most sophisticated swarm catching technique Mark and dangerous to your health. What you need is a lightweight bee vac. This is made up of a small Milwaukee or Dewalt 18v vacuum, a polystyrene full depth box empty, enough vacuum hose to connect to the box strapped to your back or left on the ground and an extension ladder. Have a look at bee vac RUclips vids on how to build it.

Learned my lesson,if they're that far up and I have to go right to the top rung ,I now just wave and say see you ,have a good life lol.
As we age. The damage is life altering. After a fall from that height, if you survive.

You need to find a window cleaner because we have carbon fiber poles that are light and extend to up to 90 ft. Cheers 🥂
I've tape on 2 in. Pvc pipe to my hose. Hook 2 together and it get up there but hard to manage. Almost need 2 people
@@BucksBeesS.C. carbon fiber is 1,000x lighter than pVC pipes.
I like your pole bucket idea. I keep a break down pruner w/poles i use a old carbon fiber pole vaulting pole to bolt to my clear smaller tote box.

Always fun to watch and listen to you.. Swear all you want dude, I use those same words myself😂

You can summon a swarm to a hive box by clanging two jemmies together for 30 seconds. No need for storage boxes, brushes, saws, ladders ...
Beautiful tree.

Wow those bees are real mad 😂😂😂
LoL wonder how many cups of coffee he starts his day on?? I love his ADHD self lol 😅😅 you know his wife has learned to tune out 96% of what he says or does lol
Good luck
❤❤❤😂

Mark, you have 'Rocks' in your head. That is one swarm you should have walked away from.
Getting old is not for sissies lol
I love your video's

the albino koala strikes again.. bloody classic
Find the queen, and then....
Why don't you use a hive box to put the bees into?
"Give it a Go" attitude. What can happen?
PS THERE A NICE DARK BEE ODD.
Do you have a SWMS for climbing a ladder like that?
Lucky he doesn't bill council for that😀
Some swams are worth walking away from.
Hello l have just started beekeeping do you have any advice for me
😅🎉🎉🎉
why can you get a telescopic pruning pole to reach the top of the trees. Easy as pie.

Wow how long did it take you to come up with that Ideal
You always say you need tape around thedge
Obviously im from us wa state, what the heck is that tree called
Not to successfully
Are you catching swarm to get attention or what, this is one of the worst ways of catching swarms.
Abstain from God's name sir. Otherwise I have to unsubscribe, Cobus🐳
