I agree and disagree but respect it. In my taste especially w/ TDG 1st 2 albums it was just so raw for me as a kid coming into hard rock I got into them for that but loved linkin park for over all creativity
TDG and Linkin Park are 2 of the only bands from that era to still be popular. I used to think TDG were just another buttrock band but I started listening to them again like a year ago and realized they're a lot more than that and actually pretty good.
Adam's voice is why TDG is as big as they are and separated them from the crappy buttrock singers of the day that all sounded the same. Adam actually had a unique voice that was good.
My stepfather put One-X on my Ipod back in 2007 because he thought I might like them. I immediately loved them and One-X is still one of my favorite albums of all time, of which I love every single track. And it encouraged me to get better in English in school so I could sing along. Great memories
It might sound super corny, but "I Hate Everything About You, Why Do I Still Love You" helped frame the need to process complex emotions for a young generation that was otherwise being raised into what was becoming popularly performative social media and reality television. I say this as someone that hasn't really listened to *any* full albums from that band, but select songs have been deeply replayed throughout the years, to help me get through some _very_ long nights and emotional drives.

Three Days Grace was like the evil twin I secretly hung out with behind Switchfoot's back. While Switchfoot was all sunshine, hope, and “you got this!” energy, Three Days Grace was dark, brooding, and made you want to flip off everyone who didn’t get you. Switchfoot and Red really helped Christian bands get noticed in the mainstream. Skillet as well. Radios will just play their music normally and most people that I know really liked them without knowing their faith.

I worked at an alt radio station when TDG broke. They came in studio and the singer sang I hate everything about you 5 feet from my face. It was an intensity I had never seen before or again.
they were very catchy and punchy, not straying too far into the obscure, very safe listen. they definitely sparked allot of interest in the early 00s for metalcore (and eventually emo), as the aesthetic and messages they sang pushed allot of us into bands like atreyu, killswitch, sevendust, and then later into emo bands like saosin, thrice, and later, asking alexandria, and the following post hardcore stuff. My wife and I both followed a very similar path in our music interest, starting with metallica and ozzy and megadeth, graduating to bands like three days grace and system of a down, linkin park, korn, etc. and then moving through the list. I think we were both blessed to have parents who welcomed lineups from ozzfest and other festivals alike. but three days grace is as essential for the very early 00s angsty tweens as bullet for my valentine was.
First two songs I heard from 3DG was I Hate Everything About You and Over and Over, and I fell in love since. I started listening to all of their music until Transit of Venus and switched to Saint Asonia when Adam left 3DG. I'm a big fan of Adam G/OG 3DG - from 🇵🇭 ♥️🤘🏼🎸
I was obsessed with TDGs One-X as a young teen. Had the CD on replay. Adams vocals were undeniably great and unique, I loved everything they put out up to TOV. But since Matt took over I been less interested in TDG and not only me, but we all missed Adam. I myself didn’t hate on Matt taking over, I just preferred Adam more. Which is also why I’m glad Adam has Saint Asonia now. Their first album really has that OG Three Days Grace vibes too.
Adams vocals are amazing. Theres just not many people who can sing like that fella. And he still sounds great live to this day in Saint Asonia. It gives me chills. One x was a huge album for me getting into rock too. I still listen to it all the time.
As someone who got started with alternative music via Green Day & Three Days Grace back in the day, and now loves knocked loose (got super into metalcore/deathcore a couple years after GD/TDG), I can confirm the TDG to KL pipeline does indeed exist.
I graduated '07 and this album WAS my high school anthem. Angsty, directionless and just discovering who i am...OneX holds a special place for my generation
I was never a fan on this style, but I did see them live in 2005 or 2006 and they put on an amazing show. I had no idea they continued to put out music that long.
Took me to a different tab to ask me about RUclips helpfulness of sharing this video despite 'copyright'. Went back after, it remove this video from my recommended feed. Had to search it up manually to watch.
One of the first band I was really a fan of. Did a presentation of them on my class when I was 10 and thwy shaped my love for metal. Seeing Adam reunite with the band last year was heartwarming
it's funny--as a young kid playing guitar in my room learning technical riffs and trying to sweep and shred; now i'm 33 and i don't remember most of those sweeps and licks and more of these kind of songs from my childhood. probably nostalgia talking, but three days grace was definitely a part of it
You should’ve brought up Adam’s new band Saint Asonia. It sounds exactly like Three Days Grace which says a lot about how a singer can truly make a difference when it comes to a band. They’re really good and deserve more credit and appreciation.
Hey, dude. I remember you posting a video dealing with the conflict between click-bait description and your own analysis and it's cool to see you dropping some of your own insight into these retrospective pieces and hopefully finding a balance. I imagine I'm like many of your viewers in the sense that I dug the content to begin with but also appreciated the unique insight so it's cool to see you swinging it back to that kind of work. Love what you do, homie. Thank you for it.
I grew up around these guys, Most of them live local to me still, Its insane how much the local stations played them back in the high days, & no one had any hate towards them or seemed to have any jealousy (That ive ever noticed) More proud of these guys being locals Its always been such a inspiration to every local band of every genre from country to obscure metal bands
just from the cover art you can see why one x is my all time favorite album, i love all of the songs there, especially never too late, and overall i liked every song from the first 3 albums. and respect for matt, he made some bangers with the band like so called life and painkiller.
I remember when I got my driving licence back in 2011, going on vacation in south-west France, blasting Three Days Grave on the road, the ocean by my side... Man, the memories. Things were tough, but they were easier to comprehend. One X is the best album to me. I kissed my first love with Over and Over on my computer shitty speakers. I exorcised my anger in highschool listening to Animal I Have Become. I was already into heavier stuff, but Three Days Grace was probably in the same spot in my heart as Sum 41. I'm a Deathcore dude, now, but I have no shame thinking about my musical roots TwT
Saw them when they opened for disturbed in PA a few years ago. It was my very first live concert, seeing two of my all time favorite bands and they had some amazing crowd work. Really brought the energy.
My favorite band growing up, can definitely say their music helped me get through a rough time in my life. Hearing Adams cover of In The Air Tonight in person is one of my favorite memories. They should have changed their name when Adam left though, it's really just My Darkest Days 2.0
I discovered them through Smackdown Vs Raw 2007, good times man... Also I remember a YT video of Kenny from South Park dying repeatedly while 'Time of Dying' plays in the background lol, it's edgy but also kinda nostalgic if you remember the early days of RUclips
Another thing I remember is my little nephew loving their song “Riot” because WWF was pretty popular at the time and they had that song for one of their events 😂 my nephew was like 11 years old and he’d tell me “You like Three Days Grace? I love their song Riot” and he’d start singing it 😂
This was an amazing video and I love learning about one of my top 3 comfort bands (Being, in order, Starset, Three Days Grace and The Mechanisms). Thank you for making this
I'm glad you're drawing attention to these guys. I realized ~a few years ago how deep and incredibly impressive their catalog of hits is. Now I will admit that some of that could be because I'm Canadian, and our media has Canadian-Content laws, so I would have received more exposure than most... but the reality is that these guys pumped out some bangers. Other Canadian hard(er) rock acts absolutely worth a listen are Moist and Billy Talent - both doing very well on our charts in their day.
You are right. 3 days grace was the first band I discovered in middle school myself. Everything else was from my parents or sibling. I am now a knocked loose fan haha
I’m so glad Adam is back in 3dg I’ve been a fan of them since 2006 I was 5 years old back then they were the first band I ever fell in love with and made me fall in love with rock music
I went to a skillet concert about a year ago and Adam’s new band opened for them and they played “never too late” I’m so glad I got to hear that song live
So weird that they are considered emo, they were right there with Chevelle and those other pseudo-alternative numetal bands. Emo is a term that just has been totally butchered anyways, it means pretty much nothing in particular anymore.
@@mramisuzuki6962 Haha, fair. I remember when we were discussing if Cursive was emo waayyyy back in the day, and now I hear "emo" and it's either pop-punk or numetal. The very things it very much wasn't. God damn Getup Kids and "Something to Write Home About". I blame that album for emo aligning to pop punk. I also love that album. We're all to blame.
Loved three days grace growing up. After Adam left I didn’t really listen to them but those first few albums (especially One X) will always be a crucial part of my childhood
They are still one of my favorite bands to this day. I will say that I am in the opposite camp as you are and maybe most others, when they got their new vocalist, I was more surprised how similar sounded to the old lead singer. For switching people I think it’s impressive how much they sound alike.
I was in a freshman in High school when Transit of Venus came out, I definitely remember listening to it tons when it first came out it was heavily on my rotation, especially having grown up listening to them on the radio, watching all the music videos and everything, I was a big fan at the time. After hearing the news that Adam was leaving, I think it made me appreciate the 4 albums we had a lot more. Cause there wasn't going to be any REAL new 3DG material, while I did enjoy Human, it was definitely on a downslope compared to their previous work. Barry's a great composer but you could totally tell that Adam carried the band. I listened to tons of Saint Asonia when they came out but what they had before was pure magic.
I really got into Three Days Grace when their first two albums came out, especially One X. By their third album and more came out, I moved on to other stuff like thrash, Dream Theater, death metal, Alice in Chains, etc. I did rediscover the first two albums and they still hold up.
I remember them coming out during the Fuse tv era and "IHEAY" was playing every hour. I was already deep into death metal and punk in my early teens but their first album is an undeniable banger from start to finish. One of those rare albums that has no need for a skip button.
Three Days Grace was such an influential band for me and many of my middle school friends, so glad to see this video! I still listen to them to this day!
The song redemption of their latest album I can feel the guy is actually telling a story. Not had that from a song in ages. Thanks for the video on thir band Finn!
I got a PSP for my 7th birthday and on this disc it came with was music videos, one of them being Home by Three Days Grace. From there i went to RUclips to listen to more of them, go to my local record store to beg my parents to buy me their CDs, take me to concerts. I still got my first TDG shirt i got from also my first concert ever. somehow still fits too. They were a real big part of my life growing up
First discovered three days grace from playing smackdown vs raw 2007 and i remember specifically looking up the songs from the soundtrack on my pc and it being one of the first times i went out of my way to look up and discover new music. That soundtrack is pretty much what made me branch off into other genres. I grew up listening to rock and metal because of my parents when i was younger but i didnt go out of my way to get into the music until i got really into svr and fell in love with the game, i was obsessed with that game and it sounds cheesy but it changed my life it allowed me to discover other things that i really ended up enjoying.
Thank you for this video, I absolutely loved it! I am 26 now, my favourite band is Dance Gavin Dance, but I also love a lot of heavier stuff. I wouldn't have found any of the things I like now if I didn't start listening to Three Days Grace when I was 16. They are the first band I loved.
God so glad this came out. 1st favorite rock n roll band was cheap trick and at 7 I heard one X and the debut album and they became my gateway to rock and everything thing else. Cherish this band got me through a lot in life
I saw them about 15 yrs back, I was startled by how good they were. They were on a festival bill with Avenged, Seether and a bunch of others. They delivered, I hadn't expected much, but they stood up.
Please do Taking Back Sunday. You mentioned doing them previously and I've been hanging on just to hear your break them down...(so badly). Thanks for such good content!

I see Three Days Grace, I fucking click.
I'm sorry about your loss
Sorry for your loss Finn
Pleaaaase, do "Coheed and Cambria" 😊
FINN!! Great to see you in my feed! ❤
it's funny--as a young kid playing guitar in my room learning technical riffs and trying to sweep and shred; now i'm 33 and i don't remember most of those sweeps and licks and more of these kind of songs from my childhood. probably nostalgia talking, but three days grace was definitely a part of it
You should’ve brought up Adam’s new band Saint Asonia. It sounds exactly like Three Days Grace which says a lot about how a singer can truly make a difference when it comes to a band. They’re really good and deserve more credit and appreciation.
BROUGHT BACK THE OG INTRO TRACK 🫨
I grew up around these guys, Most of them live local to me still, Its insane how much the local stations played them back in the high days, & no one had any hate towards them or seemed to have any jealousy (That ive ever noticed) More proud of these guys being locals
Its always been such a inspiration to every local band of every genre from country to obscure metal bands
Strange History of Starset pls
just from the cover art you can see why one x is my all time favorite album, i love all of the songs there, especially never too late, and overall i liked every song from the first 3 albums. and respect for matt, he made some bangers with the band like so called life and painkiller.
I miss the second channel.. great video Finn!
Same here, dude. Same here.
And now Adam is back!
0:53 middle school me didn’t know what was coming
I discovered them through Smackdown Vs Raw 2007, good times man...
Also I remember a YT video of Kenny from South Park dying repeatedly while 'Time of Dying' plays in the background lol, it's edgy but also kinda nostalgic if you remember the early days of RUclips
Those games had the best soundtracks I remember SmackDown vs raw 2010 had Papa Roach because it was the raw theme at the time and I loved it
Another thing I remember is my little nephew loving their song “Riot” because WWF was pretty popular at the time and they had that song for one of their events 😂 my nephew was like 11 years old and he’d tell me “You like Three Days Grace? I love their song Riot” and he’d start singing it 😂
They should do a tour with both vocalists and play two sets from each era
They were the most emo non-emo band on the radio in the early 2000s. Still have good songs
Freshman year me was NOT ready for finding these guys lmao. Such a change and what I was really looking for.
Thank you for taking my request.
and now adam is back in the band!! 2020s going crazy with the bands and tours!! blessed
Finn is back!
I enjoy both eras of TDG. Matt is def underrated
Ppl watching after the 2X announcement
👇
So weird that they are considered emo, they were right there with Chevelle and those other pseudo-alternative numetal bands. Emo is a term that just has been totally butchered anyways, it means pretty much nothing in particular anymore.
Emo is the I’m not formula “buttrock” badge right now.
I definitely Think the heaviest 3DG ever gotten was with Adam days. Songs like Overrated and Riot were pretty heavy
They are still one of my favorite bands to this day.
I will say that I am in the opposite camp as you are and maybe most others, when they got their new vocalist, I was more surprised how similar sounded to the old lead singer. For switching people I think it’s impressive how much they sound alike.
First time I heard them was on a umd disc for the psp and the music video was home. I was immediately hooked!
Finn, please do Trivium in your next Strange History of...!
(4:13) shout out to 99.9 KISW The Rock of Seattle! ❤🤘😎
I was listening to 104.9 Funky Monkey back then. RIP Funky Monkey... 😂
That's my pencil sketch from Art class in Adam Scott high school @ 2:43 fyi 👍🏼😎
I thought they'd just be another band when I found them in 2006, I love transit of venus, one x and life starts now :')
10:27 "Different overall TIMBER" 🤔
Welcome back dad! Missed you
This is the band that got me into hard rock and heavy metal and im so grateful for there music helping me through some messed up times in my life
The song redemption of their latest album I can feel the guy is actually telling a story.
Looks like you might need to revist this video now with the recent news of the return of Adam!
Fastest click of my life. Those first two albums were my childhood.
Whoa I know the origins of the term butt rock now. Thanks Finn
God so glad this came out. 1st favorite rock n roll band was cheap trick and at 7 I heard one X and the debut album and they became my gateway to rock and everything thing else.
Cherish this band got me through a lot in life
One X is a masterpiece album. The Naruto animal I become AMV’s back in the day. 🤯
🎉🎉
I saw them about 15 yrs back, I was startled by how good they were. They were on a festival bill with Avenged, Seether and a bunch of others. They delivered, I hadn't expected much, but they stood up.
Three Days Grace have been my favorite band for 14 years
Please do Taking Back Sunday. You mentioned doing them previously and I've been hanging on just to hear your break them down...(so badly). Thanks for such good content!
I remember “Smackdown Vs. Raw 2007” being what introduced me to 3DG, it had “Riot” and “Animal I Have Become” and those songs are what instantly made me a fan
They do have some of the best discographies.
