This is the last recorded performance of Australian classic rock band 'Matt Finish' featuring Matt Moffitt. Recorded as part of the launch of their greatest hits CD in 2001, this excerpt features "Short Note" from the debut album of the same name
The line-up of the band included original members Matt Moffitt (vocal/guitar) and Rick Grossman (bass) along with Joseph Calderazzo (guitar) and Wayne Grech (drums). It was recorded at the Iguana Bar, Kings Cross, Sydney 12th of December 2001
The performance was captured with a domestic handycam and was not intended for public viewing so the quality is poor. The audio is from the camera at the back of the room, hence the crowd noise. A film crew was there to document the event and some of this footage has been edited in.
This has been released as a document of Matt's music (and enthusiasm)
I absolutely love this song. Matt's haunting voice along with the beautiful lyrics always bring tears my eyes. Will always be played in this house ❤❤
What a Fantastic song. Brings back great memories of being a musician in the 80s in Brisbane.
First time I ever saw …
Matt finish play was December 1980
Supporting Midnight oil in Sydney’s long gone Paris Theatre
Matt blew me away with his voice and guitar playing
They were a 4 piece band
With the classic line up as I called it Matt Moffatt vocals and lead guitar
John prior drums ,Jeff Clayton rhythm guitar, and Rick Grossman on Bass, whom is also playing bass here in this version of short note
They were a very tight and serious band in their early days
Unfortunately the demons got a hold of Matt and he struggled with them throughout much of his short life
I saw him go from shredding on a guitar to not playing any solos at all
Like here in short note, the other guitarist plays the solo
I met him and the band several times and did some photography work for them
And they were all great guys
One of my all time favourite bands to see live
3 cheers to Matt Moffitt and his great music
Short is one of my top ten favourite songs
This song is the anthem for the backdrop of my misspent youth. Thank you for such a great song Matt. You left us way too young.
The shut up from the champ at 37 seconds is all of me.
I have loved this song from the very first time I heard it....Matt was such an amazing talent and Australian music lost a true legend the day he passed......Such a beautiful song.
Absolutely 👍
Good to his great buddy Rick Grossman on bass. Rip Matt beautiful mate. ..
Love love love this…. ❤. ❤❤
To my mind one of the greatest performers to never quite make the leap. His genius was evident.
The talking is exaggerated as the audio is taken from a handycam at the back of the room. The camera mic has built in compression which boosts nearby sound .... it's not a good representation, but it was the best available.
Thankfully we have this
wow wish I was there, got married to that song...
Saw him at the Dorset Gardens Hotel in Croydon, Melbourne, in late 84. Fricking brilliant!!
There's always a song that brings you back to a specific place, year, time and minute.....this one's mine. ❤
Love love love this song.❤️💙❤️💙❤️
Absolutely beautiful 💜 And the vessel that you build...... will be your own . Thank you for this song.
Thankfully we have this , an a kiss cheek ,
Love this song, Wish there was a clear live recording somewhere on the internet.
Wished i was there. Obviously and clearly some people shouldn't of bothered going. I'm only jealous. Probably pissed and didn't realise it would be his last. Thanks for posting it.
I was married to this song to my dear departed Karen. x

Beautiful
Wow!
All time fave!!!
Evocative, with so much moment and depth - a timeless, beautiful song. Thank you for recording it here.
I can not believe people are talking in the background!!!!
ignorant pigs
Great band and songs
What a bloody great talent!
Why is life so unkind? Always the ones with the most to give are taken away!
listening, shure am!!!
I feel like yelling SHUT UP to the rude people talking while Matt is singing. Just plain right rude and disrespectful to any singer or performer up on stage.
I take it that this is a rather amateur recording of this song but I have to agree with Ray Lehto that quote; 'I can not believe that people are talking in the background'.
Hey Gretchie. Did you ever tour as Matt Finish down to Melb Cherry Tree in Richmond? I have a bootleg recording of that gig! I'll do my best to get it up on my channel soon.
Where is this filmed?
The Iguana Bar in Kings Cross, Sydney, December 2001
@@SaturationLevelMedia Thanks.
I wish I had a machine gun in the audience darkness makes me smile !!
