This is a classic Aussie rock band, & this song was one of their best. I remember buying this one as a 45 vinyl single release, when I was all of 17 y.o. .... I also remember this original video footage too .. superb oldies material here.
I'm sitting listening to this music and I am ecstatic. ITS MUSIC, ITS MUSIC, ITS MUSIC, my nostalgia meter is running at 150%. Shit this was life and fun and life, and shit I'm getting old . AND LOVING IT !!!!!
It's hard to believe that it's now 50 years ago (this month) since I started at Blackburn High School in Melbourne's east. This song brings back powerful memories from that year, 1971. Highly talented Aussie musicians in their prime. Will never be forgotten...
I started a few years before you at Vermont High a couple of suburbs further out. There was a shy girl whom I was keen on for a few years, but I couldn't get her to join with me. I later found out that she was concerned that I was out of her league intellectually, of all things. Then, out of the blue, she reached out to me at home at the end of my HSC year and was interested in seeing if we could join. We did meet, but after not having seen her for a couple of years and having long since given up on her, I felt no interest in her any more, and we never met again. This song was playing on the radio around that time and used to remind me of my regret that things had turned out that way and how I had no choice but to let her go.
I'm so glad there's dedicated people out there uploading great historical stuff like this! I'd love to start a band now with that awesome style of drumming they did in the late 60's, early 70's. :) Like The Masters Apprentices stuff, etc. And those really nasty overdriven guitars. Yes! Bring that sound back!
Fan of both Brian & Glenn just listened to show me the way this was on my play list . Had to have a listen cause it's axiom . Good song never come across it before . Westie from Sydney Australia 🦘🦘 🦘🦘🦘🦘 4/12/2023
I'm from Sydney too, and likewise don't recall it. It certainly was not regularly played by Sydney classic hit radio the way A Little Ray of Sunshine or even Arkansas Grass were. It was a #8 hit in 1971 both on Go-Set and the Kent chart. Kent has it as #60 Australian hit of the year, 1971. However while it was #3 in Adelaide, #4 in Melbourne, #9 in Brisbane and #10 in Perth, it only peaked at #22 in Sydney. On the other hand it had its longest chart run (18 weeks) in Sydney against 13-16 weeks in those other cities and 22 weeks on the Kent Top 100. By comparison, Arkansas Grass was #5 in Sydney, #7 Go-Set, #9 Kent; and A Little Ray Of Sunshine #3 in Sydney, #5 Go-Set & Kent. The band produced their first album with the earlier hits. This one was produced by Shel Talmy, who produced Friday On My Mind, and it's a gem.
@@waynedunn1108 I'm about your age so I was a kid when this was first on the radio. What's Wrong With The Way I Live was a great song and The Twilights were a great band. They were #2 to The Easybeats in the Go-Set poll for Top Group in 1966 and 1967; then Top Group in 1968 with The Masters Apprentices #2. Interestingly The Masters were #2 again in 1969 (to Zoot), #1 in 1970 with Axiom #2, then Masters #2 again to Daddy Cool in 1971.
Absolutely right - two of the best voices in oz rock, I need to only hear the first few bars and I am transported to summer of 70-71 - what a great time for living ... and what a great time for music. - thanks for posting the clip
Brian Cadd went on to right songs for some of the Worlds Greatest Artist. Also Righting and Singing World Number ones himself . Ginger man, Show me the way, Alvin etc. This song always takes me Back to the Good times of the 70s.
@Prenty52 Thank you! Keep on singing!! What is so interesting about this clip is a year later I was singing with Glenn in Esperanto Rock Orchestra and this track is 'reminiscent' (pun intended!) of what we ended up doing with them!! I'd never made that association before! Such a great singer and this track perhaps is my favourite of Glenn's with Axion...Kudos too to equally gifted Brian Cadd! and the band! Cheers to all!! jan.s
hey GLEN remember the Tilshead rd days in Elizabeth north days of the Twilights, you were just starting out, and I think you had a 4 pce vocal group the CHECKMATES that you just finished with, wow man you were good then, and even now man I think you and caddie are tops , ASTRALIA'S FINEST. give us more you two.COME ON !!
Axiom really carved their niche with this, one of the finest songs ever recorded in this country. GOLD!!
Two of our greatest voices in the same band, what a great track.

This is an all time classic!! Love it..Brian Cadd and Glenn Shorrock are amazing

LOOK at Caddy in his prime. So excellent a song writer, player, singer.
He also wrote songs for the Masters Apprentices
He's a musical legend! Should be known worldwide!
@@combivan4346He's known in many countries. Lived in the USA for many years.

Little Ray of Sunshine pulls at the heartstrings but this song just hits you right between the hips!! My favourite Axiom song ;-)
Now that's some decent song writing right there.
Great band. I have been privileged to play with all these guys over the years.
This should have been a hit in US.
All their songs Arkansas grass the lot their regret went to England instead of the states
@@gary36104 Yes, seriously England was the music Mecca in those days but of course much more suited to American market, such a shame
