On that "pivot and pivot and pivot" point. Life really throws a lot of things at you so a big part of living well is learning to adjust to changes. As usual, I appreciate you sharing Roberto!
There should be a Tinder for entrepreneurs. Like "Hey, wanna have some coffee and talk stocks & real estate, side hustles, and how to kill it on social media?"
Ironically, Facebook was supposed to be just that, except it was meant for college students to get to know each other and build a network of like-minded people.
Last week I did a Google search for influential RUclipsrs and you were one of the names on the list. This is my first time watching one of your videos and I feel overjoyed and inspired by you! What you shared in this video is powerful and I feel connected to your message. I’m a melodic narrator- I bring melody to people’s stories. I love to sing and I recognize that I can help people heal and be uplifted by sharing my voice and surrendering to Spirit. This was once a hobby but now it’s a career. Thank you for being here and sharing your journey!
I listened to all of your podcast episodes and know pretty much all about you still I get inspired by your openness and honesty about your journey. I wish you would start doing the podcast again. Thanks for inspiring me and all the free ressources you consistently provide to all of us.
I’m so sorry to hear you had a bad experience in school. As a teacher, it breaks my heart some teachers weren’t supportive of you and your dreams! Watching this made me remember my ‘why’ of teaching- to be an encouraging, kind teacher to all students!
I’m glad there are people like you. My teachers bullied me more than any kids- they were homophobic and would put me in detention whenever they could find an excuse. Eg: one time they saw a random two girls kissing, assumed it was me and I got into trouble even though I wasn’t there. Another time my drama class saw ‘Dusty’, a musical, which has two women in a relationship in it- my drama teacher got confused and I ended up in detention through lunch on my birthday for “inappropriate behaviour” when I hadn’t done anything. If I knew then what I know now I would’ve reported the teachers in question to the Education department.
Great video Mate, 20 years ago only side hussle we could think of was to do another part time job. I even skipped my breakfast to work harder to pay my tuition fee just to avoid taking loans. Now, I am determined to have a better future for my kids and nephews and nieces and always tell them what I learn from yours and Sean's videos. Inspirational story told with passion hence you are still here and we still watch you. Stay Blessed mate 😇👍
@@RobertoBlake tell me about it hence I started my channel (I know its late but hey never too late) and always encourage kids to put whatever they learn in practice in a form of a video. Have a Blessing day Matey
I love how you share your story with others and keep it real. It makes a huge difference for those who one day who work hard enough can also the exact same thing. I've loved your content since I first discovered your channel a year ago and I keep coming back for more. I had some teachers that we super harsh on me that told me I couldn't do much and wouldn't do much in my future, love to see them now and tell them my reality. Awesome job Roberto!
I was bullied, too. But it created deep empathy from which I create and coach. Thanks for sharing your content. I found you from Mike Winnet's channel.
This was great. I feel like an important thing here was that you had goals, and you did what you could to achieve them. Lots of people (myself included) don't always know what they want to work towards so it's awesome that you found something.
Thank you for this video! Long time lurker, but your story resonated hard. Very similar to my story and I appreciate you sharing. It's great to hear how the path went for you and to know that there is a path for folks like us. Thank you Roberto ✊🏿
The beautiful thing about RUclips is that you can use almost everything you have learned before. So when you look back, even the less practical skills don't seem like a waste anymore. I agree with being underserved by experts.
Loooove this so much! Always enjoy your candid content, Roberto! If I had to do it all over again I'd not let depression ruin my passion for being creative. Very real stuff here - hope the younger creatives learned a ton! I know my younger Self would love your story!!!! Can't wait for your book! Congrats on the new site!
*We share a very similar story Roberto, I'm the eldest of 3 boys, mom only, had passion for computers since young age but resources wasn't available. Learned to design self taught (thanks to RUclips) and paid almost 80% of my University education with the money I earned from freelancing and RUclips. Your story inspires me you're great mentor to me. Thanks for sharing this*
When we see your life story within view of the things you had learned over the years from family, teachers, companies and clients, before RUclips, it all makes sense. They had become the very same tools that would change your life. Because you had something of value, whatever you learned, that could benefit someone else. Wow. Thank you so much for this video. Making me realize something that I've already known. And I also started out wanting to be a cartoonist/animator too! The passion I'm pursuing is wanting to help indie artists be heard through building an audience and platform.
Thank you for sharing your story! I didn't realize how similar our upbringings were--raised by a single parent, oldest, autistic brother, huge emphasis on school (now have my Ph.D.), bullying, working while going to school, and awful teachers. I got a good laugh after you called out academics. As someone in academia, it's absolutely true. Few people have experience with entrepreneurship and many programs, even business schools, don't prepare students for that life. It's actually for this reason that I started my own RUclips channel. I got tired of teaching management theories that seldom apply to businesses nowadays. I wanted to give practical advice that can be applied to our current workforce. Starting this channel has been a life-changing experience and one that I never expected to do. It has helped me expand my skills and grow as a person. And funny enough, I think my teaching has gotten better since doing it XD Thank you for the inspiration!
I went to an accredited research institution and studied biology. College is not a learning environment. It doesn't prepare you for the real world. All they care about is can you spit out information that you've been forcefed in the conditions they set for you. I learned more while skipping class and studying RUclips, video editing, art/graphic design and things like that online. Universities are a dying breed and they don't even realize it yet.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I keep talking to my 17 yo daughter who is a digital artist about these things. How things were different when I started college in 2000. I hope this pep talk helps her value her talent and see that to have her own creative business she can do it with the modern tools available. It's been hard trying to guide her unique path, but your encouragement makes me optimistic.
Great to know more about your backstory and how you have evolved as a creator. Very inspiring to hear how you have made the most of the skill set that you have built over time and adapted to pursue new opportunities!
This was amazing and I shared this video directly to nerdy daughter who is one of the best story tellers I know. The way her mind comes up with stuff is amazing and I think this is just the type of video she needs to come across! Thanks so much! -signed one of the older folks (39).
Fayetteville is definitely a small town. I'm still here it's been growing some. I'm grateful for you sharing your life that can inspire others. Keep up the awesome work.
This video couldn't have been timed more perfectly. I appreciate the raw honesty and you opening up showing us that this doesn't happen over night. It takes work. Not only that, but how things line up and workout in the end after you pivot. Much appreciated man. My main passion is speaking. It was an insecurity to but now using it to teach introverts how to stay confident and turning it into a full time business in the future ⚡️🙏🏽🙌🏽 Again thank u for this video
Keep inspiring Roberto! Your channel gives ton of value from the backend to the personal side of content creation. Credit your channel the most with the tactical side of RUclips!
"doing what I could with what I had where I was" is more powerful than people realize. & I relate with the way you combined all your interests/skills for RUclips!
It's wild how my education in Graphic Design in 1994 parallels your education almost ten years later ~ still having teachers not hip to software, barely using the internet, out of touch with what new opportunities we would have but at the same time giving us the opportunity to gather analog basics :) love all I learned in the darkroom! Freelancing is the best way for creatives to go their own way. Thank you for sharing more of your origins, Roberto :)
We older folks can relate 100%. I am 43 and know exactly what you are talking about on all fronts. Okay, if no one knows yet, my passion has always been fighting back against the very types of abuse we suffered growing up and beyond. As a very spiritual being, I have been able to connect the dots between biblical scripture and narcissistic abuse on a societal level. Now I am creating content, blogs, and writing books to educate others who are interested in this fight, and what it is all about. I look out for my clients by thwarting fiery darts of abuse at them. I don’t worry about me. I thwart those darts without even thinking about it these days. My supporters who are healing know not only I, but God has their back. This is what I have always wanted to do and finally, am making my dream a reality.
Loved seeing your growth over the years! I've been here since your small tips for RUclipsrs video of 5 years ago and you definitely helped me grow on RUclips. Thank you for all your real and helpful tips Roberto! ☺️
I would highly reccomend watching as many of this legends videos as possible. Through his and VidIQs excellent advise I've grown my channel to nearly 90k subs in 8 months. I have serious respect for this guy
Loved hearing your story. When I was in art college personal computers didn’t even exist. After studying painting I also ended up in graphic design and in the mid 90 s taught myself web design. As a creative entrepreneur it is important to pivot. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your story. It provided an awesome contribution to the interview from TubeBuddy. Please, don't ever feel the need to fit in. We love you just the way you are. #PeaceandBlessings
Thank You Roberto! In this noisy world I know I can count on you to keep it real. Keep doing what you do my friend, this was the kick in the butt I needed today to get back in the game.
Yes, I hear you with how different opportunity was back when we were in our 20s (I turned 40 this year). So so different. Right now is just such an exciting time to chase dreams and build your own world. Really cool to see all the different pathways younger people have now (and for us slightly older ones sick of the "norm").
It's so sad to hear you were bullied and messed with man. You seem like such a good dude and your content is so helpful. God loves you bro! Very cool that you started creating content for your church as well! I do the same thing 👍. Way to have a servant heart ❤. God sees that.
Love hearing your story Roberto! Been following you for almost a year now but I never comment. First, I love that you can no longer make a video without doing your “back in my day” routine lol, I love it! Anyway, Your advice on making 100 “crappy” videos is probably the best advice I’ve seen any RUclipsr give. It’ll make or break you and suck the procrastination & pressure off of you. Thanks for all you do!
What an inspiring story! I wish more people understood the importance of raising their kids to believe in themselves and keep going/evolving/adapting to the inevitable changes and curve balls they will encounter throughout their lives.
This is great! I'm just getting started with RUclips even though I have had a teacher lifestyle blog since 2018. As an introvert, it took me a long time to get on camera and feel somewhat comfortable. Actually, teaching online and making videos for my students last year helped push me.
I have always been passionate about doll collection. I just recently started making videos with my dolls. I enjoy watching other reborn youtubers channels. It makes me feel like i have something in common with them, and it's not just me. I hope to continue sharing my hobby with people who enjoy my type of content. Tfs
13:32 - damn your point here really resonated with me! I’m 22 now and currently in digital marketing also and hoping to get into content creation/music production thanks for your video really insightful!
Thanks for this video, Roberto! It was really interesting to hear about your background. I would love to learn even more about your story, especially how you pivoted, how you navigated setbacks, dealt with fear and challenges. Thanks again and all the best for all of your work and plans! To answer the question: I'm passionate about creating content, and it's a career to me.
I fell ya' Roberto. I grew up with Dyscalculia (Dyslexia for numbers) & ADD before anyone around me knew what that was. I grew up being told by my parents & teachers that I was stupid, only to find out later in life that my IQ is actually 30 points higher than average. I wasted the first half of my life listening to other people. Now I'm determined to use my creative genius to be a self-employed entrepreneur. 🙂
Roberto, thanks for sharing your inspirational story. WOW, I love hearing comeback stories just like this man. This is exactly what keeps me motivated to keep moving forward. I love the old man voice BTW.😍
Saw your comment on GaryVee video. Love your hustle. I used to studied interior design… am into personal development And it’s very encouraging to hear your years of hard work and putting things together Being creative can be distracting as ideas are nearly endless And you took the risk to settle and keep working on what you’ve had at the moment Following you and like to hear more from you! Thanks Roberto!
Fantastic video, thank you so much for sharing! This spoke directly to me - am I'm in a similar boat (started out as a photographer and newspaper photojournalist, learned a lot of the same skills in high school and college), pivoted to coaching soccer and am now trying to combine all of my skills into one platform.
Roberto, thank you for sharing your path with so much honesty. I've always admired you for making honest, informative and high quality content. And I really know what you're talking about, all the troubles you had to go through. Blessings!
I got a few golden nuggets from this video. Yes, pivot, pivot, pivot, when I look at my life and see myself I was not pivoting as quickly as I could have. Sometimes you might want to move right, left, or forward but financially your stuck. I'm glad your making over 6 figures per year and you share some videos with what you do with this money. Which I have watched. Get your finances in a good solid healthy order, I think is so important. Yes, you can have excellent health but if you don't have 2 nickles to rub together your setting yourself up for major stress. If you need money for any expense outside of your bubble. You need food, roof over your head, transportation, and if you need medical care, well, it takes money for specialists to figure out what is going on and if your medicine is going to cost thousands of dollars. Money gives people options, and options are great if you want to pivot. Thank you for sharing some of your personal life with total strangers. And I'm glad you are semi-obsessed with cameras and taking photos and found something you like to do. That camera you held up in the video, looked high tech, that was some serious camera. 🙂 All the best to you Roberto.
I've come to realize as well that life is all about pivoting, life rarely goes the way you think its going to so you have to adapt. Currently my passion is woodworking and general all around making, i also have a passion for culinary and I'm going to in the near future combine both if those into a new career for myself
What an insight, Roberto. Followed you for years, and definitely learned a lot about you here. Thanks for sharing and being so open. Keep on kicking ass!
I’ve really been getting my feet wet as a copywriter. I’ve done some freelance gigs but have yet to get into a steady rhythm with clientele. I’m a creative writer and being able to monetize my skills in a creative way is the ultimate dream. Love these kinds of videos, thanks!
As for your question of the day: I'm pursuing art as an illustrator. Though I went to college for graphic design and still enjoy it to an extent, recently I've found it more fun and less stressful just drawing things. Both traditionally and digitally. I'd like to build passive income around this and perhaps work on comic covers for franchises I love! Thats the goal at least for now.
Everyone expects a graphic designer to hold all the skills of fine art, digital art, and programming..... but honestly I would hire an illustrator time and time again as that is not one of my strong suits. Why would I stress over an illustration for days or weeks when I know someone that can give me a better product and save my time????? Go for it!
Great video! For QOTD it's definitely RUclips for me at the moment. Always wanted to pursue youtube since I was like 8 years old and I started really trying earlier this year. Got to 1000 subs a month or so ago so that's what I'm pursuing!
Great video, :) you really seemed like yourself and it was cool to hear your story. I like the part where you said that you don’t have to be a pro to share things you are learning. That’s how I learn, by explaining things.
This is so inspiring! 👏🏻🔥 I also worked in graphic design/marketing with a similar overall career goal - to be a full time creative professional whatever that looked like, am now doing freelance videography and RUclips, working with what I have where I am, and just continuing to gain more experience and grow. This makes me so inspired and excited for all that is to come!
I really appreciate what you said about making things for people like you. I’m pursuing filmmaking, which has brought me income in the past, but is technically a hobby at the moment. My channel is about keeping those skills in the forefront and building a body of work on my terms. Still on the fence about whether RUclips is it or the means to the end. Only time will tell I suppose.
Actually on my bucket list I have come and shake hand with Roberto Blake. Your channel is great and from listening to your videos I now got a freelance job and I'm planning to develop that more, maybe go into video editing which is something I enjoy.
Very inspiring! I always wanted to be a graphic designer. I love art! But never got to it. I’ve been able to do that now because I’m starting my own podcast so I design my own logo and hopefully soon my own merchandise as well. I love your story! And congratulations on everything you have accomplished! 👏🙌☺️
Bro your story is almost my story lol whoa, I am trying to get into the 3D character design teaching myself all the basics so I can actually teach people how to do this using RUclips, your work and teachings are appreciated .
I just discovered your channel like yesterday!! I appreciate the content and the information! I'm trying to get my channel off the ground and your information really helps. I'm retired military and I love cars, so your info on how to niche down really helped me focus on what I need to center my channel on! Giving it a shot and we'll see how it goes!! Keep posting!
Thank you so much for the content that you are sharing! To some of it I so can related! I never fit in too! Watched the other add about niches on RUclips trying to start and I’m scared and just looking for niche or it’s just perfect excuse to procrastinate as I’m scared to start! Coz I dnt know what to do about content! Listening to you it’s so easy coz it’s natural and authentic thank you!
Thank you for telling your story besides RUclips a passion/hobby I want to turn into a career or job is Graphic Design. I need to take more leaps with it and stop holding myself back because I think my skills might not be good enough but I can still continue to learn and grow and if I do decide to do work for people who knows who my designs may help out at the time.
Bro being Latino and an immigrant are tough lives no lie. But I'm glad there are people who I can relate to on my RUclips journey. Thanks for paving the way and not hoarding the information to succeed💪🏽
I started as a freelance graphic and web designer too (*granny voice* back in the day...). Dabbled in photography for the sake of complementing my services. Also got into writing for it, as many clients didn't know how to fill their web pages and wanted me to do it for them. ANYHOW, so glad to hear your story! This may be immature and spiteful of me, but I hope your former bullies look at you now and are pulling their hair out and kicking themselves. 😅
Pretty cool hearing you story. It literally all worked out for your greater good. I wonder how many of these bullies or terrible teachers are current subscribers. 😂 Your channel alone has helped me navigate YT better. Thanks for your contribution to the world Roberto!

Pivoting is everything!
Your story is like an inspiration to others who have just started their journey, the main thing is that what you do makes you happy!😊✌🙏
It's so sad to hear you were bullied and messed with man. You seem like such a good dude and your content is so helpful. God loves you bro! Very cool that you started creating content for your church as well! I do the same thing 👍. Way to have a servant heart ❤. God sees that.
Hi Roberto! I’m listening 🥰
This was really inspiring! Thank you for sharing Roberto!
I was also born in Brooklyn, but in 1990. I live in Queens now. 🗽
!Gracias por compartir tu cuento!
I love it when you go all “Back in my day…” 😆
It's annoying
Roberto, thanks for sharing your inspirational story. WOW, I love hearing comeback stories just like this man. This is exactly what keeps me motivated to keep moving forward. I love the old man voice BTW.😍
Saw your comment on GaryVee video. Love your hustle.
I used to studied interior design… am into personal development
And it’s very encouraging to hear your years of hard work and putting things together
Being creative can be distracting as ideas are nearly endless
And you took the risk to settle and keep working on what you’ve had at the moment
Following you and like to hear more from you!
Wow! I love your story Roberto!
I've come to realize as well that life is all about pivoting, life rarely goes the way you think its going to so you have to adapt. Currently my passion is woodworking and general all around making, i also have a passion for culinary and I'm going to in the near future combine both if those into a new career for myself
Very Inspirational Reberto !!! hanks for sharing the story and the path to your success!! I needed to hear this!!!
Awesome story, Roberto! Thanks for sharing. This was very helpful and useful.
What an insight, Roberto. Followed you for years, and definitely learned a lot about you here. Thanks for sharing and being so open.
Keep on kicking ass!
Loved hearing how you got your start! Thanks for making this
I love your story-telling, you have an interesting way of speaking. You make it easy for me to keep watching and listening. Thanks, I subscribed.
Your life story is truly an inspiration!
Thanks Roberto!
This makes me feel like this RUclips thing could really be in arms reach. Just got to keep my nose to the grind stone. Fantastic video.
Incredible video! I respect your journey so much, I finally picked a lane and I'm going to staying in it, and build a body of work.
Great story. Really spoke to me. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video! Love the wildlife photos! Really inspiring! It’s also clear a lot of you’re success is hustle added to your talent
Thank you for sharing your story and your knowledge through your channel 🙏🏼 It’s much appreciated by all of us. Keep on crushing it 💪🏽
I’ve really been getting my feet wet as a copywriter.
Go for it!
Thanks for sharing your story. I enjoy your channel.
this was so interesting as you open up to us!
👏🤜🤛
It's always useful to know the process and story of good creators.
Respect your transparency. Good video. Much continued success…
Hey roberto I've been following your channel for a long time, your story is truly inspiring and I'm happy for your success
Such an inspiring story Roberto! Congrats on all of your success so far! 🙌🏻
RUclips is a great platform for self employment !
Congrats on the new storefront Roberto! Looks great!
Great Job young man!
Bro your story is almost my story lol whoa, I am trying to get into the 3D character design teaching myself all the basics so I can actually teach people how to do this using RUclips, your work and teachings are appreciated .
Thanks. Tutorial content is really practical and if you lean into pop culture you can do very well.
Thankyou for sharing this with us 🙌🏾
Thank you so much for the content that you are sharing!
Very inspiring story here 🙏
Bro being Latino and an immigrant are tough lives no lie. But I'm glad there are people who I can relate to on my RUclips journey. Thanks for paving the way and not hoarding the information to succeed💪🏽
Keep up the great work Roberto ....!!!
Great video bro keep up the great work. Love the content and help tips you give never give up God Bless
My kind of story in the making
I started as a freelance graphic and web designer too (*granny voice* back in the day...). Dabbled in photography for the sake of complementing my services. Also got into writing for it, as many clients didn't know how to fill their web pages and wanted me to do it for them. ANYHOW, so glad to hear your story! This may be immature and spiteful of me, but I hope your former bullies look at you now and are pulling their hair out and kicking themselves. 😅
Love hearing your journey, it’s amazing to hear your perspective on the process! Love you tenacity and determination Roberto! 💯✔️🔥
Pretty cool hearing you story. It literally all worked out for your greater good. I wonder how many of these bullies or terrible teachers are current subscribers. 😂 Your channel alone has helped me navigate YT better. Thanks for your contribution to the world Roberto!
