Combining the efforts of high performance and efficiency into one affordable package has become more of a challenge than ever in 2023. Years ago, things were much easier and it seems like the companies who built some of our childhood heroes have slackened off a little bit. Take #Toyota for example. While the new GR Corolla has been taking the enthusiast world by storm, the more mild-mannered #2023CorollaXSE still struggles to live up to the credentials of its newest sibling. Still, as every cloud has a silver lining, the #2023Corolla does offer the benefits of being fun when you want it to, yet relaxed and frugal at the same time. That said, is this enough to win over the hearts of those seeking fun and fuel economy at the same time? Watch our full #carreview to find out!

Due to a hit and run accident that totaled my red 2011 Corolla S earlier this year I had to find a new car quickly and in my area any Corolla model was extremely hard to come by. Luckily I found my 2023 Corolla XSE (midnight black metallic) and love it! It’s the perfect commuter/light travel car but has a bit sportier look and feel to it. At 5ft tall I enjoy the smaller space 😅
I was just having this problem ended up getting a 2020 Corolla xse with 10k miles
@@Zayclaysneaks Nice! They are great cars.
Bro I had to stop this video at the 12 min mark so that I could drop a comment. I appreciate the level of communication and explanation given throughout the video thus far. Just listening to how well you articulate your review, makes this so much easier for me to follow along. You’re the fucking GOAT.
I replaced a Volkswagen GTI with a 2024 Corolla SE and on the test drive it felt like what I was expecting… a “beige” handling economy car. After a few weeks of ownership what I’m surprised by is that the car really likes to hustle and doesn’t fall flat on its face when you link together a few curves. Of course it’ll never be a Miata but there is some fun to be had here.
And that’s the very reason why I chose the Corolla. Value. I don’t need to spend more money than I have to. Why I chose the XSE, I have no clue lol. The SE was just fine but I made my decision so going to make the best of it.
The Corolla 2019-2022 6spd hatch SE is the best option (IMO). It's quite, comfortable, and fun.
We have a '20 Corolla SE that we bought last Jul '19. We have no problem with it. We just changed the battery and winshield wiper.
I like so much this Corolla Sedan in Europe only available with 1,8 & 2,0 hybrid 👎 thanks for excellent review grettings 🇧🇪
8:03 tbh I actually love the color combo with the wheels.
Not a lot of differences between the SE and the XSE this year.
It’s a really goodlooking car. If you really wanted more power just add a cold air or an upgraded exhaust system and the car would be great👌🏼 thank you for the review. I will probably get this car in the Celestite color soon
Also a pedal commander helps!
I hade this car on order but it took to long to come to the dealership so I went with a base 23 camry se in lite blue it a longer car gas mpg is OK but I look to get this later in the year
No foglights like on the hatchback? Ugh....it needs them. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
this looks gud, id get this as a 2nd car
How much it costs with euro?
screen is way too big tho
How much does it cost in US ?
The way this one was equipped with the optional JBL Audio System, it came out to around $28,500 or so if I remember correctly.
I just bought it a couple weeks ago and yes msrp is $28,500
@@yolandag8436 ACTUALLY, HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY FOR IT ?
You’re looking at $31 after taxes
@kilroynautilus7257 out the door price was $33,000. But I guess that depends on each dealership. The one i went to Nj was trying to get $38,000 from me (cus of add ons and "market adjustmens"), and I was able to lower to $33 but it was my first time buying a car so I'm sure I could've done better.
I wish I hear you better than the road noise 'coz I'm in search of Corolla reviews.
Sadly being a broke amateur RUclipsr, i dont have the money to get the proper audio equipment for videos like this. Apologies for the sad audio quality.
don’t worry you’ll get there, it takes a bit of time but you are on the correct path .
@@GrandPrixGTP02can you start the car with the key fob
Should have reviewed the XSE hatchback. I mean what's the use in Toyota making a Corolla Sedan an XSE? Sedans are boring... always have been, always will be!
I know... my opinion. But I'm not alone in my opinion regarding sedans. The XSE should have been available as a hatchback only. Again... only my opinion.
Then again, Toyota doesn't even offer turbo and other features such as sunroof/moonroof... and they call the XSE's "Sporty"? I don't get Toyota.... never have. Oh, those crazy Japanese auto
manufacturers! 😛
Great review, nevertheless.
Toyota does offer a moon roof on the Corolla starting in the SE model.... and 3 different hybrid trims in the sedan. there is less offered in the hatchback model. it looks better for sure, but it's going to be a niche market.
Did you watch the video? The car has a sunroof. Also I think sedans look sexiers than hatchs
I did watch the video... I have no clue how I missed the sunroof section. I was looking at them on Toyota's website a year or more ago... I thought I remembered them not coming with sunroof/moonroof.
My bad! @@braetonwilson4296
🤤👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nope cvt
How come
bruh that cvt stuff is old. It's a Toyota and a corolla it will last forever no matter how much cvt fud people say.
Corolla's CVT has a physical first gear which makes it last longer and makes it faster off the line
CVT in this car is really nice to use, as good as any automatic you’ll find in this segment.
