- What is up you guys, like I said in the video, do whatever you want. However, my friend had such a bad experience with this Vertical Door kit on his C6 Corvette and it got me thinking that these are not worth it. I am in no way trying to disrespect anyone that enjoys or has these, I simply wanted to point out some reasons I believe getting a Lambo / Vertical Door kit is not worth it.

I recently bought 2005 Golf with lambo doors… well, they attract a lot of weird looks from people but also they put a lot of smiles on kids. I think it is worth it
if someone would show up with a super old cheap car and suddently open their door lamborgini style i would lose my shit

You lost me at “he installed it himself.” You also lost me with the filthy vette. Leaving that car that dirty says a lot about the owner and how they maintain the car. Says a lot.

I dumped 1800 it a light kit for my vette.. why not suicide doors :) I'm sure if i can buy a corvette I'm sure I can afford an extra 1500 in doors. Nothing about a vette is cheap ;) cool video doug

I've got the Lambo doors on my 2021 V8 and I love it. I don't have to worry about a car next to me parking too close to where I can't open my door enough to get out.

What it means by bolt on is that it attaches to the factory bolts rather than being welded to the body of the car like other kits. Either way you’d need to take part of the fender out.
Newer version comes with better gas shocks reducing the strain to lift

I have put the vertical door kit on my C6. There's an adjustment to make to where you do not have to open the door as far as you are doing before it goes up. The number one complaint I have is it's almost impossible to close the door on the passenger side. The driver side has the inside handle at an angle Which gives you Something to pull down on, Whereas the passenger door handle on the inside is horizontal And you have no leverage to help bring it in the down position. But they still make the car look gangster as hell And the kids love to see it at the car shows.
I mean there’s no denying the “wow” factor and aesthetic look it gives the car. But from a practicality and financial approach, it seems not worth it. But i’m glad you seem to generally like it!

I always get into something like scissors doors and what not. will see a bunch of instructions installation videos and then watch these bad experiences videos. I must say when i like something I definitely get into it even when after its looking at cons 😂😅
Same here😅 I've been thinking about converting my GT86 doors to butterfly doors, and have been talked out of it many times, but I am still keen to do it.
You couldn't explain it any better.... I made several comment on RUclips why I would never install vertical doors again. I have C6 with vertical and C7 without. It's really is a hassle unless you buy the doors for a show car etc. The shocks will wear and it's a hassle to replace. NEVER AGAIN !!!

No offense but you shouldn’t make a video that falsely represents a modification that relies almost entirely on the quality of the installation. In our 21 years of specialization in worldwide installation of vertical doors, I have seen hundreds of “wrong/garbage” installations. I have to say though, at least all of them had all the bolts installed at bare minimum. Your buddy is missing a bottom bolt. I could only imagine how many other massively important steps he skipped. 21 years doing this, we’ve installed doors on over 7000 cars worldwide, and never once have we had any issues. When installed correctly and the shock pressure adjusted properly, it lasts a lifetime. P.s tell your friend to spray that hinge with silicone spray once every couple months, unless he’s trying to collect rust I guess.
I totally hear and respect what you are saying. However, I feel like in this video I am highlighting the look, the way the hinge functions, and the cost. Regardless of the missing bolt, it’s still expensive, doesn’t open in one motion, and personally I don’t think it looks better than factory. You seem to comment in good spirits so thank you for what you have said not only for me, but for anyone else in the comments.

I guess to each their own, that's a pretty big modification but I would stick to stock. I don't mind small touches here and there which won't affect anything mechanically or otherwise.

You have to have a professional to do it bro.. it has to have like a motor type.. that it womt be that heavy.. and you can just pull the hinch and it goes up and you can close it easy..

Thanks for the video. I am debating getting these for my C7 Z06. I love the idea I can just open the door normally to exit/enter but being 6'4" tall, I don't think I would be able to do that 😞

Bought a cheap ass set for 300 and had to do major hinge modifications and the shocks didn't hold the door up. It's a feature for show cars. Now I have VDI on my 80 Grand Prix and after 2 years the shocks still hold up. they are not really everyday use and you have to notch all fenders always. I don't call them Lambo hinges, because they're not. As you say, the doors go out then up not straight up like a Lambo. And if you park as to where the weight is to the back side then the doors will kind of shut on their own. I have air bags so I always have the front lower while using the door as they do open out quite a bit but there's nothing to hold the door out
I try get it for my civic coupe, cause open the door is pain in the ass for coupe cars. But this video changed my mind. Great video

I still want vertical doors on my Nissan 350Z because at car meets and shows it will look good. The rest of the time I will use the door normally. Seems cool to me.

My dad had gotten some from the Las Vegas sema show when they first came out by gt factory they make good kits that’s welded to the door not bolt on
Lol my z came with them. They don’t always have to be used. But they are useful if u tryna work under the dash or change fuse or open door all the way if u too close to another car. Better have em then not. Only the price might be deal breaker
I didn't know people still did vertical/Lambo doors. I thought that died out 10 years ago after everyone called it ricer and trucks and SUVs started getting them.

Dude said the part is expensive... He capping them kits(hinges) are $400 even and they're universal plus u can install it yourself unless u have to weld and cut to install it

Back in the day after fast and furious debut, I got a 04 Celica GTS. I got caught up in the moment and had the Lambo Door hinges installed. I had to cut out the fenders inner area, extended the wiring harness , add extra weather strippings.
It was a horrible mess. Rust started to eat through the hinges and chassis, then the weight of the door 🤦♂️ I had to go through 4 gas shocks to hold the door up. Several times the door dropped destroying the car body door frame. It was nice no doubt, asides from the Celica looking fast but really is slow. I wouldn't do it to my car again. If the Lambo door company can come up with a fiberglass door shell or carbon fiber door shell to ease of the weight and keep the shocks from blowing, maybe I'd do it again, lol not!!! It'll compromise the car's safety should there be a crash impact on the modified door area. But like you said your car, your $$$ , sky is the limit how anyone wants to mod their rides or what statement they make when pulling up to the valet.

I've had mine since 2011 on my black 2010 Camaro ss...it was fun at first until I got stuck in my car when the door got caught behind the front passenger panel and no way to push it open ...Jumped out through the window and pushed panel back in which caused my paint to completely chip off and the metal actually cracked...several times repaired, sanded, bonded, taped, prepped/covered, primed, painted, sanded, compounded, polished, and waxed.......and I still had the issue happen, so the panel is just warped now and probably only solution is a completely new door panel ...I regularly tighten the 4 bolts due to finding one becoming loose last year...but no more stuck door since! those who still want it... good luck! I suggest finding one with a remote controller or butterfly/suicide!
Lambo doors are for wide cars that is hard get out of in a parking lot next to other cars
Idk if it's his doors or what but mine open regular and then I pull them up but mine pretty much do it themselves I really don't have to use that much force and I have them on my 97 Silverado
Could be different set or just the way the door is. Not sure if it would be lighter or not (the truck door). These generally open regular too but there's just not that much space to get in and out but maybe that can be adjusted. Thanks for the comment!

For an instance like this I totally understand. I have a C5 corvette and seriously thinking about adding this feature. However, I have the same idea as you, can I open it all the way up from the seated position and the answer is probably: with a lot of work. But I'd rather cut out some notches on the bottom of the door and make handles. These would be underneath, so invisible to the eye until the door was up.
My idea for the handle is just a hole with a plastic insert so u don't hurt ur fingers on the metal frame.

I didn’t have that problem love mine maybe he got the wrong kit or maybe he bought an older version of the kit. But yeah it’s a given the fender has to come off but shouldn’t have to cut anything. There’s no way you can put the kit on with struts without removing the fender it’s in the directions. But cutting. Na. Something isn’t right nice video I agree with some points but over all all they guarantee is that it’s a direct bolt on and that is true. Just like plug and play headlights that are 1300 bucks you still gotta take the bumper off etc.. to install them correctly
It was the cutting that was most annoying for my buddy. But I gotcha obviously the fender needs to be removed. Thank you for the comments and hopefully you are enjoying the kit.
u dont have to take the bumper off to change C6 headlights to the new style. I did mine myself. You just have to be very careful.

If you still have to push and pull up the door, what's the point? It's like trying to be a lamborghini phony, regular doors are fine.. it's a nice car so it doesn't need phony features

I've had Lambo doors and every vehicle I've ever owned if you wanted to be a car show every day to be unique you have to do unique things it's not for everybody but Stuntin is a habit for me I read with Lambo doors 4life

I don't see any valid points here. He mentions cost, you pay to play otherwise everyone would have one.
Newer modifications have better gas shocks so the door opening and closing doesn't appear to be an issue.
But to each its own, I'll purchase cause it what I want.
You, say: "It's a super nice car as it is".. Let everyone decide for themselves if they like it the way it is. You can say that about many cars, that they are nice as they are.

Correction: shouldn’t put scissor doors on cars that weren’t made to have scissor doors. You have to open it out anyway, what’s the point. It’s a stupid mod that it’s only for showing off, and all the ones I’ve seen, including this one looks unbelievably low quality.
I got Lambo doors on my car for $400 a kit and it was easy to install I guess to each their own you decide maybe it's not for everyone but they're still good. I also guess it depends on what kind of car you have so you decide.
If he don’t like lifting it he should’ve got the automatic ones for how much money he spent.

Have PROs do your doors. You get what you pay for IF you/they dont know wtf your doing.
Struts will last atleast 5 yrs and cost like $100.

I'm in the market for a used C5 or C6 and there's no way I would buy one that's had this done to it. And for the life of me, I cannot understand how a person could make something like this a priority over upgrading the brakes, or Recaro seats, both of which are things that would improve your experience every time you drive your car.

He put it on by himself.. i got guy that can do it on my 2017 Silverado.. and it has a motor.. with you can just pull the hinch and it opens by itself.. it only $1200 but for that easy to be a girl can open it and close it like nothing.. cuz it can be cheaper but this is the issue of your video..

Dirty as that car is should be a crime, I'd love to know when the last time the oils been changed. The way the car looks would make one assume it's not maintained as it should be.

You got a problem in understanding the part of the door where you should be concerned about adjusting the hydraulic… it’s pain because you cannot even think of this and just do a video of how bad it is… before doing this video… think about how to find the solution first…
