I've a G3 15, but I have a question... when I try to plug something in the usb ports I can't, it feels so hard and I'm affraid of damage something, have everyone experienced that?
fhernando a.b. It was same for me at the start just make sure u see where u put the usb, it doesnt do any damage
0:59 - Here's the advice which is very important to prevent hinge accident. When opening and/or closing the laptop, I use 2 index/thumb fingers from both hands, one is opening or closing the laptop exactly right in the middle edge only (never use left or right corners more importantly) and one is holding the laptop exactly right in the middle edge as well.

so how was the experience guys?
I got a Dell G3 3590 (the 2019 model) around 9 months ago, with i7 9750h cpu and nvidia gtx 1660ti max q graphics card and so far so good. I dont have any problems with the hinge whatsoever (but I always open it from the middle, as I normally do in every laptop). I am really satisfied with the speakers and the microphones for calls. The camera is just average, not bad but, definitely, not quite good. As far as thermals are concerned, yes, the laptop can go really hot, like 100 degrees. That being said, with a little manual tweak in the fan profile, I managed to reduce the temperature around 7-8 degrees and using a cool pad dropped an the temperature another 4-5 degrees. So, I managed to get around 88-90 degrees in total, which I think is reasonable and every laptop should be operated with a cool pad when gaming, in the first place, imo. The fans being able to go totally silent in quiet mode or on battery power and only spinning for a minute or so every now and then, is a great adding value for me along with the inclusion of a numpad in the keyboard. All in all, I 'd say that I am pleased with the Dell G3 laptop, especially at the price of 900 euros that I got it.

@@mr.yuriinspector347 I faced the hinge problem at about a year of possession but Dell fixed the problem immediately. I do not mishandle my laptop, total opposite, I take care of it. So it is very strange that this happened. I suppose there is a deficiency, indeed. Let's hope it won't happen again. Otherwise, I am totally satisfied with the laptop. But for a prospective buyer like you, I don't know if I would suggest buying this. This hinge problem is worrysome.... Hope I helped you.

@@jatinmotwani5390 No, at least for the moment. Yet I should say that I don't open and close the lid so often now. I prefer to leave it open on my desk and close it only when I have to. There are some creaking sounds from the hinge but for the time being it is sturdy and functional.
Comments are good for the algorithm. Awesome review and I think you covered basically everything that most people want to know about it before making a purchase decision
Happy you liked it! I'm actually not sure if comments affect the algorithm in a meaningful way, but I do know that RUclips tends to recommend videos from channels you regularly watch. My views per video is pretty pogchamp, trying to keep it as high as possible. Too bad I've only gotten one laptop company email me so far. Not sure if I'm just not big enough or if I'm being too critical of laptops, but that's just how it is.

Good review! I bought my G3 in February 2021 and the hinge broke with only days left before my warranty expired. Fortunately, the repair was still covered. Aside from the hinge issues (which i can see are quite common), I have no complaints with the G3 in terms of build quality and performance. Hoping that the device lasts in the long run with proper care and handling

used this laptop for about a year, had many issues, mainly regarding RAM and heating, otherwise it's been good. still going strong. RAM upgrade isn't difficult to add
I been having overheating issues lately, had the laptop for 2 years. Any advice to reduce temps? I also unlocked the cpu so I undervolted but still I didn't see any performance increase? Do you think I need to replace thermal paste?
@@SwiftBlade17 in my personal experience i bought a cooling pad and it solved virtually all of my overheating problems, make sure there’s ventilation for the fans when you use it

You can get this laptop with a 1650, 256GB SSD, 8GB of Ram, and 10300H for 549 USD when dell does the sales. for that price, its pretty hard to beat. I don't think the higher ones are even comparable to other laptops out there. But the budget version is just that, a budget version. If your going for a 2060, might as well get a better screen and some extra bells and whistles.
What I'm trying to say is, the laptop has a place. but not the 2060 version.
Had a g3 for less than 9 months, and the hinge broke... I was always carefull, yeah, warranty was called out and was fixed, but the threat of broke again is still there, also thermals are just so poor, i bought it because was at that moment an amazing deal, yet i wish i hasn't bought it... Better a lenovo or hp for the price

I'm just a lazy bum who doesn't want to think of creative angles for filming. Instead, I just show a typing test for a full minute straight and hope nobody notices or complains. Get scammed lul

The hinge still breaks even if you use you safely. No matter what you do it will just break after days,months, or years.
I was looking forward to getting this. But after looking up the hinge problem, I'm very skeptical. Maybe I'll go for the Omen 15. I'll have to sacrifice on storage as the Omen comes with only 512gb ssd, but hey, anything is better than a broken laptop.
I hope there won't be much of a difference when it comes to the processor (i5 10500h in dell vs ryzen 5 4600h in omen). I've never used ryzen before. I hope it turns out good.

ayo good review, just a side question: would you prefer it if gaming laptops (or just larger laptops in general) have a no number pad design or a ten keyless one (like the new omen 15)?
I would prefer either TKL or 75%. I don't really use the navigation cluster so 75% frees up 2 extra columns compared to TKL which can be used for laptops with speakers beside the keyboard. It's only 1 extra column compared to the standard 60% like you see on Surface devices or MacBooks. Also moves the alpha cluster closer to the center which some people care about, but I don't really mind.

A lot of the specs are kinda hard to match for this price range, when I got mine a month ago. This was literally the best laptop for the price imo, all the others had either a lower cpu, less ram, lower tier gpu, or a combination of that
Is this laptop easy to upgrade? Could it run Wargame, Company of Heroes 1 and 2 , Steel Division, and Call of Duty for example?

*How does this laptop work with Adobe products?*
To answer the question, it works well with Adobe applications. I got received the laptop a few days ago and here is my review:
• The single hinge in the middle isn't at all bothersome. I don't know why everyone is making a big deal out of it. Unless you have giant gorilla hands or flailing teenage limbs, you'll be fine.
• Thermals: The thermals while using Photoshop, Illustrator or other similar software is pretty average. I've ran two at the same time for a couple hours and I've had no problems. If you do have heating problems, just get a fan and it won't be an issue.
• *Photoshop* and others: Like I said, there aren't any issues so far but I'll be sure to update this if I come across any. The graphics card on this computer is up to date so you should be ready to go for Adobe.
• *Premiere Pro/Rush*: I've ran Premiere Pro on the laptop and it works well. There isn't any major lag. The only thing I had a problem with was importing some of my files. But I believe this is just an Adobe problem and it started working again a little while later. If I start any big projects, I'll update you. Not sure how it runs on 4k , etc. I also haven't tried Rush yet but I am assuming it would work very well since it's a simplified version of Pro.
• Other pros: The keyboard lights up! Unfortunately, mine stopped working by the second day. I think I just have to shut it down more often. You can use the keyboard to turn it on/off. The charger is pretty nice since it's large. I'm not a computer guru by any means, but I believe bigger = more powerful.

Hey man, I was considering the G3, G5 or the legion Y450 but I don’t know which one to pick, I’m looking something that I could game on for the next couple of years which means that build quality is important . they are available with the same specs with a small price difference in my region, which one do you recommend? I’m leaning towards the Y540 (I really like the design) but from past experiences with Lenovo phones they don’t really last that long and I’ve had dell products that I’ve been using for around 7 years and work as if I had just bought them
Haven't used the Y450 yet or the G5, particularly the SE with the AMD CPU and GPU. Honestly, my guess is as good as yours. I've found that even with a lot of experience, I can't reliably guess what a laptop will be like just based on reviews. Everything is relative, so what I think is bad might be good to someone else's perspective. But I would probably look into the Dell G5 SE. The fact that it's running Ryzen probably gives it an advantage in terms of value. Frees up money that can be spent improving other areas of the laptop. I also don't have any plans to review the other 2 laptops anytime soon, at least that I'm aware of. I don't really get to pick what laptops I review unfortunately

I'm getting this laptop because it's one of the few devices you can get with Amazon monthly payments. Does anyone know if there are any better options with that payment plan? I'm not talking about a loan or anything just that with some items you can split the cost into five monthly payments.
I have the 2019 model that came with the Geforce GTX 1660ti, unfortunately i have the hinge problem, based on your video with this updated model (2020) observing the motherboard and internals, they kept same hinges and screen case/cover (plastic), so no hope this has been fixed yet. I can confirm that even closing the lit with both hands, being really careful, it will eventually break, even after replacing case and hinges, this problem will come back. Always read comments and reviews before purchasing and save yourself from frustration.
Most of the other laptops are 250 nits around this price range, this is pretty much only one with 300 nits that's around my price range here in Canada.

DESIGN FLAW: bought it a few months back, the hinge that opens up the lid is now damaged. And that too happened all of a sudden, we didn't saw it coming at all. There are plenty of people you will find that are having the same issue with this. I have been buying Dell laptops and never had I faced such issue like this one.

I have not, but that's partly because I've been working on my site non stop for the last few months. Haven't really paid attention to what's coming out except when I get review requests.
I'll have to take a look into the differences between the Envy and the Spectre because visually they look almost identical, but the Spectre seems to be more popular so that's what I've been reviewing.

I got the G3 and it's hinge was broken after 7 month. No dropping, no moving but just open and close the laptop screen everyday. After doing some research, I found lots of users has the same issue. It could be a design issue. Hardware is ok and it is for a good price but the hinge design is fragile. Got the free repair from Dell because it is within the warranty and lets see how it goes.
So they actually repaired your hinge under warranty?

Can you help me please? I have a Dell G3 3590 with a very similar configuration (it`s nearly the same except it has 24Gb RAM and 525Gb SSD). You`ve mentioned in the video that it is tend to be warm during running games. Could you recommend any kind of cooler pad which is worth to use it with? Secondly, for my previous laptop (Lenovo Ideapad Y510p) I have a vacuum cooler alongside with. One of my colleagues (whom I do not really respect as a computer pro) said it can ruin my notebook`s inside cooler fans. It has a potmeter where you can adjust the power of the vacuum cooler`s fans, but there`s no way to measure the speed of it of course, moreover, there`s no way to determine the speed of the coolers inside the notebook. Therefore he said that if the vacuum cooler`s fans are faster than the coolers inside the notebook, it can ruin the thole of the coolers inside the laptop. What do you say, is it true or it is just a fantasy of his simple mind? And what do you think, is it worth to keep this vacuum cooler alongside with Dell G3? Because in case of the Ideapad Y510p there were blow-holes on the side of the notebook where you can easily fit the vacuum cooler, but in case of Dell G3 it`s not so simple because as far as I see it has a blow-hole right below the hinge and in my view it couldn`t be simple to fit the vacuum cooler there because of the hinge itself....or what is your recommendation at all, what is the best cooler to use alongside with Dell G3 3590? Thank you for your help in advance and I`m looking forward to your answer.

Ok so this laptop is on sale at Costco for $1200 with a copy of Marvel Avengers. Would you suggest this laptop over something like the Acer Predator Helios 300 with the same specs(except for the ssd)? Both are the same price currently.
Helios 300 is way better than this. Also consider Omen 15, I heard they were going for 1000$ with 4800H and a 1660ti. Pretty sweet.
Are the usb A ports the same as usb 3.0? I'm buying this laptop to use with my Rift S VR headset and it needs a mini display port and a usb 3.0 port. Thanks!
Not sure if I was just unlucky or not, but I've been using this for a bit over 2 years now and I have had to bring my laptop to repair under warranty cus my CPU and SSD weren't working within 1 year, overheating is a problem as well. Wouldn't recommend because for the price an acer 5 nitro would be much better.
Dell laptops have never really looked good to me personally. What do you think?
I dislike it. The gloss finish on the interior looks cheap, matte or sandblasted is the way to go. Also, the half length hinge looks straight out of 2008 lmfao. The designers really gimped the G3 and G5 to make the Alienware look nice.

My dell g3 15 3500 shut down while I played Gta 5 online. It was only 86°C and it turned off the Turbo mode so it runned on 2.60 GHz why is this so?!

@@istgyash Now I have my CPU back to 4.8 GHz. I bought a collingpad (Klim Cyclone) and always turn my fans on 100 percent. He hasn't overheated since then.

@@istgyash yes it often shut down while I play Battlefield but in the moment it doesn't shut down any more. My Cpu is throttling down to 3.6 GHz.

Não entendi essa mudança na Dell, o G5 é lindo, acabamento muito bom! A Dell vem regredindo muito, tive três problemas com meu notebook em apenas três meses: teclado, tela e placa mãe! O suporte da Dell é um absurdo de ruim, mais de 30 dias e nada resolvido! Um grande problema da Dell é a ventilação, se já era ruim no G5... Imagine no G3! Não compre Dell, tive várias máquinas no escritório e estou trocando todas, e o suporte é horrível! Além de todos os problemas que o notebook já tinha, conseguiriam deixar feio, com acabamento a desejar, nada comparado ao G5!
Idk why but when I am reading all the comments they are saying it is very good laptop. But for me when I open basic apps like zoom or Google chrome etc it's getting very laggy and the disk is 100% used. I tried my level best to use the pc but I can't. Can someone help me on how I can make this pc smooth and run faster

I ended up buying an Asus Tuf505. performance is good but the internal speakers are almost unusable and the trackpad is rubbish. I also had trouble with the 3.5mm headphone jack not being detected by the PC when plugging in headphones. time to time sound comes out both the speakers and the headphones together. would not recommend this as an all round budget gaming laptop

Yes , in gaming laptop always plug in while playing games ,it boosts performance. Never unplug while playing , the fps drops suddenly and the game lags. It take like one minute to get normal.
Yes, usually around 30% drop in performance. This is a Windows thing, you won't see it if you install a different operating system. I've seen it on the Zenbook UX303 with a 5 watt Intel Core m3 5y30; it's not solely a limitation of the battery.

Should be. The hardware is fast, but I don't really use CAD software.

@@franklidgad no I got it from a local shop, its working really well, scared about the hinge issue he talked about in the video tho, other than that, its running every game I throw at it at more than 70 fps, it does get a little hot sometimes ( but I don't have any other device to compare to so I don't know if this is like an okay limit of temprature)
