Wouldn’t be as secure as say an end chest with shulkers but point being, it makes sense to give players more inventory space to manage more misc. items that they may want, but is clogging their inventory space. Minecraft clearly has a push for exploration and building so while your play style might be to settle in one area, someone else might like to explore and keep walking just because. I know for me I do a lot of exploration first before finding a good build location. I respect the fact that you think the current inventory is fine as is, but if anything, expanding on the current system allowing for players to manage misc items better, or to store unstackables would be extremely useful. In Terraria 1.4.4, Relogic changed the maximum stack size from 999 to 9999 items for all items that aren't weapons or armour. Notably, 999 has been the maximum stack size for a large amount of Terraria's run time, but from what I've seen, no one has complained about the change, as it only added to convenience. Minecraft is a game with a lot of similarities to Terraria, so in my eyes, there is no reason for 64 to continue to be the ultimate number for stack sizes.

    the solutions they introduce over time have technically solved the inventory issue but then a few updates down the line we’re back to square one cause there’s more items and more clutter and so it’s a weird case of power creep where the inventory has become an insane boss like you said and the solutions they add don’t amount to the modern game. we need a fundamental change but as for the bundle i’m actually someone who really likes how it works in its current state and always keep 1-2 on my as they are extremely useful for storing my crafting table, furnace, some torches and scaffolding and then i always leave room in it or just bring a second for clearing up clutter like seeds or other loot i get in small quantities

      @purplesnaks9712 6 дней назад

      Because bundles use a weight based on stack size, which I do find to be the absolute answer to the inventory problem as they clear up the main issue: Not the unstackables but actually the Lesser valued stackable items. Bundles will help here as they'll aid you greatly by cleaning up incomplete yet needed stacks of stackable items. Also having an inventory full of unstackables is crazy to achieve on a single trip anyways so I do not find this to be an issue at all. If, for any reason, people do somehow achieve this odd feat and they're still *travelling and looting* regardless, then they should just toss out easily replaceable items or weigh the items they're holding with the new loot in that fancy chest they found and just exchange and forget. Absolutely zero problems and this whole conundrum with the inventory really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

    I quite like the bundle actually. Somethings early game you'll want to keep if you come across it. Think potatos, carrots, string, bones, etc. But while you're off mining or traveling those items take up an entire slot of inventory space. And due to the small numbers you have of each a bundle can be used to clear the inventory slots. Though they do need to add a cycle function to take things out.

    • @RePorpoised
      @RePorpoised 5 месяцев назад +4

      I think if there was an item similar to the bundle, but with the express purpose of compressing unstackables perhaps somewhere in the range of 4-9 unstackables that, when empty, can be stacked to 64 like the bundle would maaaaaybe work???? It WOULD be really hard to communicate its purpose, though.
      Like the main draw of the bundle is its portablility, have three bundles and your inventory can often stay pretty clean. But right now, the bundle is held back by its recipe and the fact that the only mobile control scheme on bedrock capable of fully using it is the most recently added one, that too few players currently use to justify having a feature designed around. It's now the current default setting, so the more new players come to bedrock, the moment those controls form maybe 30-40% of the playerbase, they would be able to implement the bundle. Those controls came out... last year.
      Which is exactly why the bundle is stuck in stasis. RIP bundle, for the next 5-10 years.
      I think the 64 stack does make SOME sense, too, as players have the ability to divide stacks in halves, and so an exponent of 2 feels reasonable, also numbers beyond 100 clutter the item view too much, so the limit should remain under 100. As such, 64 was probably the limit created for those reasons.

    • @jacksonpercy8044

      One of the main issues is the cost of the bundle. It requires 6 rabbit hides, and the default per rabbit is 0-1 hides. This means on average, without looting, you need to kill TWELVE RABBITS for a SINGLE bundle. I know that having even just one would help a fair bit, but that really limits their potential for early game storage.

    I don't think bundles are inherently bad. Gave them a go in my current Minecraft Survival Series and they serve their purpose well even after the early game. I think they are pretty neat!
    That being a organizer for smaller items. It's not meant for non-stackable items, which is what people are upset over, even though that isn't the point of bundles.
    I think Pixlriffs said it best "Even of you increase the capacity of the bundle, you will eventually run out of space or be turned away because it only keeps one non-stackable item."
    There are multiple problems with inventory and I do agree it needs to be rectified, preferably increasing the amount of spaces.
    So long more items are added in updates, inventory management is going to get harder and harder, and there is no silver bullet. Not even Shulker Boxes are the end all for inventory management.
    Calling bundles a failure purely because they only hold a stack of items or one non-stackable item is very pessimistic IMO.

      Yeah, the unstackable issue feels like the function of a separate item. The smallest brain idea is to have an item similar in function to the bundle, but with a stack size of only ~4-9 items, but that can take unstackables too.
      The only difficulty I see with such an item is how to communicate its purpose. I really struggle to figure out how you would inform the player of its utility when it seeks to address such a specific issue.

    The reason there's so much disappointment surrounding the enderchest and shulkerbox is because (going in line with the way you presented them) most people think that one storage item / improvement will completely solve the issue, when in reality inventory management will always be an issue. These items were introduced to mitigate the issue, not solve it. Inventory management is always going to be an aspect of the game, these items are just added to try and make that easier to handle, and in some ways they did well and other ways they failed when dealing with this issue.
    While they certainly could and should do more QoL updates surrounding this issue, there's no true way to "solve" this issue completely, only reduce its impact.

    adding more inventory slots seem like a band-aid solution imo. I much prefer if Mojang finds multiple creative ways to help with inventory issue with their own pros and cons, and players had to pick. I like having options.
    It's kind of like when they added the Elytra, and it made it so Horses and Minecarts kinda went useless. I don't like having one option that's just better in every way, I want to use a horse or make a railway track depending on the situation because that makes me interact with the world and motivates me to play. The inventory issue should be taken in a similar way. I definitely agree that the sheer amount of unstackables and horrible hotbar management are the two biggest problems with the inventory, but "more slots" don't entirely fix those issues.
    How about a toolbelt that you can put your tools in? Once a tool is in a toolbelt, punching a block will automatically put the correct tool for that block in your hand, and it'll go back to the belt when you let go? This way we can free up 4-5 slots from your hotbar. Or a quiver that holds arrows so you're encouraged to use lots of different types of arrows without worrying about them clogging up your inventory? Similar smart solutions can be made for stuff that you constantly have to move in an out of your hotbar: totems, potions, building blocks etc.

    Bundles are REALLY GOOD for the early game, bundles will NOT solve the inventory problem as a whole.
    My biggest problem with inventory is when building, specialy in survival, having full blocks, stairs, slabs from differents blocks is horible to manage, you may not even have enough inventory to have them all.
    For exploring after a while in a world, Shulkers are REALLY GOOD, they could recieve some improvement but they were massive game changers.
    That left us with the early game, it's almost imposible to play without droping items or without saving them in a chest, but bundles... Bundles are amazing to save you space in the early game, I really think they do pretty well what they were made to do.
    I dont know what Mojang will do, but the inventory problem is pretty hard to solve while staying true to "vanilla". Adding some extra slots wont solve the problem from its roots.

    • @anty.
      @anty. 4 месяца назад +1

      there could be a really interesting solution to this, which I'll just call "palette packs". they are like bundles, but they have multiple slots, and the caveat is that they can only contain blocks/items of the same set, with one slot for each.
      For example, a palette could hold the normal, polished, wall, slab, stair etc. of a block, or all of the color variations of an item.
      There could also somehow be a way of having alternate sets, such as having all wood colors of one block, or just stairs of various materials.
      This kind of ties in with the other additions people have mentioned like toolbelts and quivers.
      These could be future proof (kinda), as there are generally more variations of items implemented than entirely new categorizations.

This was of course better, but it was still an issue, especially since some items were still capped at only 100 or 30. So in 1.4.4 they just increased the stack limit of pretty much every stackable in the game to 9999, and it's way better! Personally I think Minecraft should just increase the universal stack limit to 256 and add another row or two in your inventory.

    As I'm currently playing create above and beyond, that modpack has great inventory management. First you've got the create toolboxes, which has 8 inventory slots, but around 258 of each item in that slot. And you can access it remotely, and will always try and give you a stack of 32 in your hotbar when you select an item.
    Then you have the upgradable backpack, that goes from 9 slots to like 54 slots, which can first be upgraded with just leather, then gold, and finally diamond.
    Then you have the "surprisingly substantial satchel" which out the box has 72 slots, but needs some in depth exploration of it's mod pack to create.
    Then you have the occultism remote storage, which can easily get 1024 slots mid game, can be accessed anywhere in the world with just one item, and works with physical item movement in loaded chunks.
    And with the curios mod allowing you to wear most of these solutions outside your general inventory, I'm probably walking around with a good 2,000 slots ready to go at a moments notice.
    So I open inventory with E, then I do shift E for my occult storage. Then I press B for the backpack holding tools, and shift B for my satchel holding work blocks. And then hold alt to access my toolboxes holding my most used items.
    Now, obviously I don't expect vanilla Minecraft to go this extreme, but an upgradable backpack would fit the current upgrade to the smithing table. And then later when you unlock shulkers, its basically a final upgrade to the backpack, just by shulkers being themselves.

    Terraria too faces inventory issues but theirs is way worse because they have 5078 unique items (Source: terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Item_IDs ). They continuously increased stack sizes from 100x items per stack up to 250, 999 and most recently 9999. They doubled the size of all chests. They added vanity item slots for storing unstackable items as well as 3 equipment loadouts (basically triple the slots). They added ammo/coin slots. They added three "Ender Chests", two being easily accessible on the fly without "placing down" and one that fills automatically when your inventory is full. They made nearly all items stackable. But guess what: the inventory STILL fills up to the brim!
    This shows that resolving Minecraft's inventory issues requires at least similarly drastic changes, however this would destroy the way how Minecraft Survival feels. Bundles as "trash collectors"? An "Ammo" slot? Tools, weapons and armor become unbreakable? Increased max stack sizes for all items? An early game Ender Chest that is also more fluent to use? These things are clearly not gonna happen!
    I personally like the way how the inventory is very limited. It adds to the experience and makes you think twice on what items you REALLY need. It adds another level of "difficulty", which makes it fun to work with. I don't think it would need big changes, however I think it's sad the Bundles didn't make it because in some cases they can be useful, especially when exploring.
    Also, 9:33 you watch too much Peenix! 😂

    • @RePorpoised
      @RePorpoised 5 месяцев назад +1

      Let's be honest, we are all inspired by that guy, he's great fun.
      But yeah, limited inventory is part of minecraft. by having such an inventory, players NEED to store things, and around those storages spots, they'll build structures that they can return to. It sort of feeds back into the game loop. The thing that people hate though, is when they have to do it far too frequently.
      As you showed with terraria, ReLogic just dropped a nuke on the issue whenever started rising, but minecraft definitely wants to be more careful about it. The real limitations of the bundle, their latest fix, is:
      1) its crafting recipe
      2) bedrock mobile controls (they need more players to use the new control scheme)
      3) that it needs a partner item to exist: an item to compress unstackables
      The last clearly doesn't exist yet. but with the way Mojang has compartmentalized the issues of inventory, it is likely to come into existence eventually. With such an item, exploring can last an incredible amount of time, with the proper management of the inventory. Such an item would probably be limited to just a few slots, because it means that your inventory can be multiplied by that amount. Honestly, this items screams END GAME ITEM. It would need to be not TOO difficult to obtain, but still hard to get in bulk. Just imagine if each slot could store 8 unstackables, condensing the inventory would get ridiculous. Multiple sets of tools, armor, totems and other would be possible to carry with you with ease.
      Thinking about it, 8 might be too powerful. 4, then? I think an item carrying 4 unstackables could work...

    Honestly, this is why a Terraria (no hate intended to Minecraft) player has no inventory problems.
    You have 50 inventory slots, 10 of which are for the hotbar.
    And you also have 4 ammo and 4 coin slots.
    But the real deal is the junk slot. It gives the player the ability to dispose of trash. If you accidentally put a valuable item in there, don't worry, items are only disposed of when you put anorher item atop of former on the junk slot.
    From 1.4.4 forward, we have loadouts, to alternate between different loadouts, armors and accessories. You can have 3 loadouts at a time.
    We also have two ender chests, the safe and the defender's forge, and they have indipendent inventory from each other. Lastly we have two easily accessible handheld shulker boxes: the piggy bank and the void vault, which, again, have indipendent inventory from each other.
    Other than from the piggy bank and the void vault, i think Minecraft can also benefit from a junk slot to eliminate from your inventory useless junk, though I think trash isn't as much of a hassle in Minecraft.
    P.s.: i forgot about the encumbering stone, an item which stops you from picking up items from the ground.
    27/12/23:Also i forgot to mention that most items in terraria except tools and stuff can be stacked up to 9999

    I made a modded gui that has 105 inventory slots and from my experience playing with it, finding certain items is pretty confusing. More space in the inventory would be pretty useful, but like you also said having the number of items stack higher than 64 would make it even better.

    I think you were being a bit harsh on ender chests and shulker boxes, but you are right on the money about the inventory.
    In addition to an expanded inventory, I think Mojang should add backpacks to further increase the inventory size. I don’t personally mind if these occupy the torso armor slot, but if I had it my way, there’d be a new back slot for the backpack and potentially other back-worn items.

    i've never had a problem with inventory. i've only had a problem with unstackables like beds. when my inventory fills, it's usually because of junk that i dont need. my inventory is usually empty. tools from slots 1-4, food in 9th slot and water bucket in 8th slot(because hotkeys). everything else in my inventory is just silk pick, elytra, and torches, with shield or totem in my offhand. i think beds should stack to 16, but i do agree that trash like seeds should have more stack. same with signs and throwables. i think we should stop worrying about having less inventory, because it adds the aspect of sorting out inventory management in game. managing your inventory is rewarding, and i personally think shulkers are great because inventory DOES become an issue when gathering things in bulk. bundles i think will not be a faliure because when your inventory gets filled up with stuff that you dont have a lot of, but you need, you can chuck it in the bundle. i dont see an inventory issue here. just an issue with stacking items

    A solution to the inventory problem bags , you could add up 5 per character and different types of bags could be equipped the early game ones would have about13 slots and the end game ones can have as much as a double chest they dont take up armor slots no visual indicator and drop with all the stuff in the bag upon death they have a special thing in the inventory when clicked on it will show your bags if you click the button next to the bag it will open it click the slot with the bag to remove the bag an put in the normal inventory and sandwiches that you can craft you take bites out of the sandwich if you take a bite it gives you a certain amount of hunger depending on what type of sandwich you eat it also varies on how many bites you get per type of sandwich

    i have few ideas, but whatever; in Minecraft in an adventure we pick up multiple drops(not same item and they are multiple. that's why inventory is an issue)
    I imagine clicking one slot and then clicking on the bundle will transfer an item from our inventory to the bundle's inventory.
    and clicking on the bundle will open the inventory similar to a 4x4 crafting grid with the difference that I can scroll it like a recipe list and small (3 inventory in a row) convenient.
    now it seems way harder.

    in a few real world days i had like an 18x24x9 multipage inventory and wow yeah it was really nice basically not having to worry about space and finally feeling like i can breath, while still somehow completely filling my super inventory anyways

    Heres another change they can add if they are overhauling inventory: Sorting and dumping. A big problem I have is searching through the chest and trying to remember what items go in what chest, but so many other games solved this with the dump feature that takes all the items in your inventory and moves it into the chest with the same items. If you allow sorting then it will also improve inventory as a whole, and less desirable items will be grouped together so you can throw them out easier.
