- There are at least 10 physical characteristics that differentiate the Asian elephant vs African elephant. The easiest way to distinguish African elephants from Asian elephants is to look at the ears. African elephants have much larger ears that look sort of like the continent of Africa, while Asian elephants have smaller, round ears. Only some male Asian elephants have tusks, while both male and female African elephants grow tusks. African elephants have fuller, more rounded heads, and the top of their head is a single dome shape. Asian elephants have a twin-domed head with an indent running up the center of their head. The African elephants’ skin is more wrinkled than the Asian elephants’ smoother skin.

2:05 trunkshake? So cute lol
Thank you very much.
It's like there comparing each other to each other, the African Elephant feeling its tusks and ears "Ok I have these but that one dont".
Wow, its first time i watching African and Asian Elephant in one place.
Thank you. It's nice to watch them side by side.
You can also check out Elephant Aid International's videos and live feeds. There is one African elephant and two Asian elephants all living together peacefully at the refuge. They are NOT separated. It is beautiful indeed 😊
Don't care for the music ..I want to hear the elephants
OK
DEFINITELY
Elephants are mostly silent, they are not like trumpeting all the time. Sometimes they snort but its not too loud, I'm sure it wouldn't be audible from that distance.
Why is this what I was thinking 😢
@@subbalakshmisastry569remove it then. It's annoying
Helps give a visual view of the differences between both elephants. African elephants, both species have large ears, their spines dip a little downwards and are a little bigger. Asian elephants have smaller ears and their spines arch up a little, and they are little smaller. But babies of both are equally adorable.
Thank you very much.
African elephant ears are shaped like Africa, that is the Big Bull! Very special video, thank you very much , looks like my Mom & Dad 😊

Asian Elephant: Malayalam
2 of my favorite elephants. I don't care if it's African or Asian I love them both. Elephants are my favorite best animal ever.

Yes, I saw them when I visit Mysore. But this video is unique in the whole RUclips because we haven't seen these majestic giants in one frame before!❤. I really curious about hybrid of these two, like Liger , Mule etc
Thank you very much for liking this video. May be after some years they will create a hybrid using new technology.

They are different animals. Different genus and different species.
@@docaz9453 i think i read somewhere that the biggest elephant specimen found was an Asian elephant.
The profile of this asian elephant is very mammoth-like. Shows how closely related they are.
@@whatname4613 Well they do get big especially ones from North India/Nepal and Sri Lanka where individuals at 10 feet aren't uncommon and 11 + foot individuals have been recorded and weighing at 8 tonnes but African ones are in a class of their own. Male bulls average 10.3 feet, that's just average, and 6 tonnes while the biggest are 13 feet tall and 10 tonnes. Fun fact though their was a species of elephant that lived in Asia 24,000 years ago who lived alongside our ancestors which stood at 18 feet tall and 24 tonnes being the largest land mammal on earth ever. If these things are big at 10 feet imagine one at 18 feet 🤯
They are so beautiful 😍❤️ they shouldn’t be separated by the fence! ❤️🐘❤️

There is a lonely elephat in the Delhi Zoo. He was presented by an African dignitary to ex President Shankar Dayal Sharma. The elephant is also named Shankar. Please get him out of there and take him to your zoo where he can socialize with other elephants.
Very nice of you to think about the lone elephants situation in Delhi Zoo. I am sorry to say that I don't have the power to get it shifted to Mysore Zoo. I appreciate your concern for the lone elephant in Delhi Zoo.
@subbalakshmisastry569 You dont need any power in these social media times. Just shoot an email to the Delhi zoo and offer to take that lonely elephant. Or you can start a social media campaign on YT and when the Delhi Zoo Authorities see it they might transfer the elephant to you on their cost. Just try.

@@erikamarie3144 Thank you.
African elephants and Asian elephants do not speak the exact same language, but they can get past that. They certanly can understand one another's language on a certain level. The Asian elephant does not have the same strict social hierarchy that the African Elephant has, but just like the African Elephant, they are extremely family oriented. Another fun fact is that Asian Elephants kick the males out of the extended family after a certain age because the females refuse to put up with the rowdiness of the male elephants once they become fully grown. lol. Adult males are mainly (but not always) solitary and they just come around to mate and then they leave.
Thank you very much for the information .
African bull elephants are also solitary. Your facts resembles to cock and bull story
@@uday5226 They're not always solitary. The females will allow them. Not the case for Asian male elephants, though. They get the boot from the females.

Well that Asian elephant is a female you can tell because the lack of tusks generally the female Asian elephant have no task or a very small tusks but males have large tusks where the African elephants both male and female have tusks

i was always curious about how the two sub species will interact. if they have a chance.
Asian elephant: i see you're not from here, better beware of the tigers. they're everywhere.
African elephant: what is a tiger?
Asian Elephant: the biggest of the cats.
African elephant: ah.. you mean the lions?
Asian elephant: no, I'm not lying. there's plenty of tigers here.
Tigers generally don't come into public areas where people are living but leopards and elephants come out of forests in search of food because of loss of their habitat.
Thank you.

Not sure why the asian elephant is throwing dirt on it's back. Is it to keep itself cool or to keep insects away?

What happened to African Elephant’s tusks? They seem like they are half.
I don't know about it. The African Elephant has tusks.
They probably cut chunks of it off to sell in illegal ivory black market. Zoos are reprehensible scum
The edges are cut off because it can harm or may get broken and can cause injuries to elephant the tusks may trouble elephant if they grow and the longer tusks have high possibility for any infection so for health factor they are torn off

Most probably it is a male elephant.
Seems like a female. Male would be bigger I think.

@Copiz 64 The African one here is not much bigger than the asian. That's why I reasoned ,that the African must be a female.
@Copiz 64 Asian female elephants don't have or have very small tusks called Tushes. So my assumption is that the Asian one is female. It could also be young elephant.Hard to tell. But definitely not a male.

It is so sad to see this video as elephants are herd animals and very sociable. 😭😭😭 and they suffer if they are alone like this.
Elephants should not be separated from their family or used for begging, decorated and used in festivals or be kept in zoos. It is just wrong. They suffer emotional and physical stress. 😢
They have partners.
It's not the same even if they did have partners. Elephants belong in a herd in an open area. They should not be in an enclosure or chained. This is cruel.
Please read up on elephants.
Please look up Wildlife SOS to learn more about the cruelty and exploitation.

Wallaby kangaroo are 6, around 50 gorals are present (one of the largest goral collection in indian zoos), around 8 zebras , Nilgai (blue bull) are 45 , , Now see all these animals are brought to mysore zoo in its minimum quantity(around 2-8) and these animals have grown so much upto(20-15 average each) even spotted deers are 625. So they are caring very well in comparison to other Indians zoos
Nice but who trimmed the Africa Elephant's tusks? That is cruel.
