Vixen is the shit, but you are laying it on way to thick to call Jan the best in history. Jan was ok, but she wasn't exceptional at all. Even the band knew that and it was part of their break up. That said, you don't have to be some savant to be able to make killer songs and have great performances.
@@gooberthoreau Wrong. She's really good and efficient enough for that style. Not a lot of people can find some of her riffs. True she's not better than Stevie Vai, but is Stevie able to do best songs than Vixen? Maybe or not, all depends of artistically point of view.
Agreed, I always thought they might of just been pretty faces along with 1 hit... Then I started looking into their music and it’s solid. Vixen is one of my favorite hair bands now.
She was a straight animal back then. Their timing was bad, if they had broken a few years earlier I think they would have been bigger, but they came around when their genre was starting to get stale in the mainstream.
To be honest, of ALL female rockers, there's Lzzy Hale, Ann Wilson, then Janet, then a tie between Pat Benatar and Patty Smyth (who was asked to join Van Halen after DLR left)
Janet and Jan's look back then always made me think of Jem & The Holograms. Jan was such a great guitarist. Not huge virtuoso-style chops, but solid rhythm and very melodic solos. I miss Jan and her music so much.
