Tbh I'm pretty convinced he just lip synchs the pre recorded part for the Russian speaking bit. It sounds too identical every time on top of sounding a bit differently mixed and way louder than all of his actual screaming through the mic.
@@udaman100 I have no problem believing he did them in the studio and does all of his other vocals live(I mean, fuck, right after the Russian speaking part live he belts "DEMOLISHER" into the crowd, with no mic, and you can hear the fucking scream in the venue), I just mean specifically the Russian speaking bit.
@@MightBeCale You're talking about the lowest vocals of the song right? The part where it's just him and no other instruments? But to add to it, you want to have something that over exaggerates something other parts of the frequency spectrum. Example, bringing out the lows(duh), but also bringing out more mid and high to help the low stand out. And compression is also a HUGE factor in doing vocals of ANY kind. Another big part is LAYERING and how you treat each individual layer. So if I take 5 of the same recording, take two and throw them far left and right, 2 more and throw them to 45 degrees left and right, the last is a center, but I turn that center one down, it makes it sound BROADER. Alex is an INSANE vocalist and in my opinion, one of the best in Deathcore. He's got many instagram videos, and videos on his channel, of him having mastery over his resonance and tone. What are your thoughts on his performance here? Honestly, I give it two thumbs up, A+, 100%! The reason I addressed the claim of pitch shifting is because one person mentioned it, but after hearing it in this video I don't see any sign that it is pitch shifted. 14:54 and 19:06 for reference :) And I've seen many of his live videos, he's an absolute beast!
The more often i hear this section, the less i think they are shifted. Shifted was my first thought - but nah.... The sound "natural" to me. The live ones are crazy deep and loud as well.
Kardavox Academy he has a recent insta video of him doing the breakdown of demolisher live and when he gets to “demolisher” drops the mic and screams it without the mic and it’s rigoddamndiculous
The russian part translated is : Everyone will be robbed of everything he loves so much There are no broken destinies Fire is burning in my eyes since birth Death comes, it wakes you up Demolisher, oh
I swear Alex Terrible and Ben Duerr are both demons in disguise doing a terrible (no pun intended) job of keeping their true selves in check when they do their lows lol
Alex terrible commented on another guys reaction to this so fingers crossed he drops by...great video as per Wow alot of likes..and looks like he dropped by! Great vocalist seems really chill considering..you know..the noises he can make
While the lows in the Russian phrase are incredible, it’s the end that gets me even more. There are recordings of him yelling “DEMOLISHER” off mic like that and it is just about as audible as on mic
@@BlueFireSapphire It reminded me of one funny thing. The chorus from the song Bony M - Daddy Cool for Russians sounds like "Barbara's frying chickens"
2 things...never imagined a deathcore vocalist to be so articulate. Also, never would of thought screaming would have such a wide range of forms and techniques and be so complex at the same time. Awesome anaylsis. Really opened my eyes
It's russian in breakdown: У каждого отнимут всё, что он так любит Нет никаких разбитых судеб С рождения в глазах горит огонь Приходит смерть, она тебя разбудит In english: Everyone will be taken away everything that he loves so much. There are no broken destinies. From birth, fire burns in the eyes. Death comes, it wakes you up.
You've opened my eyes to a heavier world of metal and I'm loving it. This is the first time I've heard of Slaughter to Prevail. Keep up the good work! Subbed.
Bro there's a live version where he screams "demolisher" with no mic and his growl echoes throughout the venue ON TOP of all the people screaming it...I believe those are real
I can confirm 100% his vocals are actually that insane. Seen him live last year. Absolutely a beast. Took longer for sound guys to fix him up he kept maxing the speakers.
They are real. He's a beast. I saw them when I had no idea who they were when they toured with my husband, and I was like, omg who is that crazy Russian guy and what part of hell did he spawn from? Lol. Then I saw them a few more times, it's intense.
Okay two things: 1. Amazing song.. sooo glad you chose this one 2. Dude's reaction throughout made it even better. When he pulled out the sword tho Love it!
Okay, after watching through many of the live preformances of this song. I can confirm that this is not pitch shifted. This man is a monster. And his projection is outstanding. Simply look it up to believe in the beast
Every time I hear Alex doing his staff (or Dickie Allen for that matter) I am one step closer to trying learning it myself. And every single time I am around family/ my dogs/ have someone sleeping. But one day I hopefully will return to this channel and relisten to these great explanations
Even if they are pitch shifted, there are videos of him screaming live on camera with no microphone and its louder than the crowd and the instrumentals. Absolute bomb of a vocalist.
I have no interest in becoming a metal singer but i honestly find it fascinating how easy these guys make this look. I literally always thought you just screamed until you shredded your throat and thats how this was done.
i've done audio engineering at college , to me it sounds just like they are really clean recordings for this video doesn't sound like any pitch shifting in my opinion and hes know for being Satan himself, this man has got some serious vocals under his belt hes a monster
It's on point with his wide body build as to how low he got, I'm built like he is and when I was serious into vocals, I could get stupid low. Not as low as him, but if I probably practice like he did, its do able. I also think his accent helps him alot to make it more intimidating too, which is fucking badass. Guys got rediculous vocal talent and he definitely put in the work. I hope his band goes far as they deserve it.
He's SOOOO HUUUUGE in person lol. It's really intimidating but he's super nice. But yeah, I'd never doubt that tone out of someone his size. It's more jarring to hear it come from someone small like Phil Bozeman.
You are a very effective and skill full communicator, an art that is rare these days. A pleasant and learning experience with every video ,much appreciated, keep it going...
As a music production student (Audio engineering) on my 3rd year I can honestly say this is not pitch shifted, after analysing this in depth using sonic visualizer amongst other audio applications and studying his vocals as a whole over the years of my degree his vocal performance can only be summed up as pure skill. Naturally like most vocalists that come through the studio there is definitely some EQ present. Even after removing said EQ, Alex himself is a monster on vocals. Perhaps it's his build (the guys a fucking giant in person) or his practice routine. So to sum up with what Vertillan previously said I 100% agree. No pitch shifting, just pure skill behind the mic. All I can say is Alex is relentless in terms of shear power, fluidity and overall endurance, definitely a guy worth keeping tabs on. As always awesome video Kardavox and Alex if you reading this, keep it up.
im curious to know how his voice is compressed...or does he even need it? The studio track certainly has plenty of compression to the vocals, but it would really play havoc trying to attenuate the frequency range...maybe they set up the post production for the bass guitar, and then just went "Yo Alex, its your turn!" ....do they even need a bass guitar though? haha
i feel that voice would better fit Garm or Fenrir. Jörmungandr would rather have almost no tone just pure grit vibrating through the mountains. Je e ein rektung Jamte frå Sverige ;)

It is NOT pitch shifter but definitely heavily filtered. Just like everything else we listen to lol. No one else in the world really sounds like him. Super talented dude. This is why I love metal. It's pretty rare to listen to music where people are pushing the limits of what the body can do. Very impressive.

@@bowdenmcallister993 same here😂😂😂i asked my best friend if he wanted to hear the filthiest breakdown ever(hes a metalhead too) and he said sure. 2 min later he was just speechless and we came go the conclusion that Alex is the devil😂
Ivan Mudrinic omg I loved all of that 😂
Alex is an INSANE vocalist and in my opinion, one of the best in Deathcore.
Kardavox Academy there’s tons of live videos of him doing this part on the internet from when he was touring with bodysnatcher
instagram.com/p/B_wOfqWoZnp/
The more often i hear this section, the less i think they are shifted. Shifted was my first thought - but nah.... The sound "natural" to me. The live ones are crazy deep and loud as well.
If not pitshifted it's heavily edited. Cuz that TEXTURE doesn't sound like something produced by just the voice.
Kardavox Academy he has a recent insta video of him doing the breakdown of demolisher live and when he gets to “demolisher” drops the mic and screams it without the mic and it’s rigoddamndiculous
When the breakdown is so good a sword manifests itself into your hand.
The russian part translated is :
Everyone will be robbed of everything he loves so much There are no broken destinies Fire is burning in my eyes since birth Death comes, it wakes you up Demolisher, oh
Köszi :D Végre értem :D
All i hear is demon summoning incantations
I swear Alex Terrible and Ben Duerr are both demons in disguise doing a terrible (no pun intended) job of keeping their true selves in check when they do their lows lol
And Dickie is their pet Goblin that escaped somehow.
@@Lyghfe agreed lol

Did everyone forgot he’s Russian tho, there like bears in human form
"So here's the thing, that's really low." 😂😂
While the lows in the Russian phrase are incredible, it’s the end that gets me even more. There are recordings of him yelling “DEMOLISHER” off mic like that and it is just about as audible as on mic
The breakdown hit so hard he became a viking
the live instagram footage of him saying demolisher without a mic :weary:
Seriously I was hoping this would have the live scream because nothing compares to that video. As for engineering I believe that this is all Alex
Jon Gillette he needs to check out the live version
It says a lot about a vocalist when he’s literally louder than the entire crowd WITHOUT THE MIC
When he does that extremely low part he's also doing it in Russian, y'know. just so it actually sounds like he's talking in some demonic tongue.
Yeah it's doubled up, and pitched down. He can absolutely hit those lows live but it sounds so much cooler pitched down that Mark grabbed a sword

2 things...never imagined a deathcore vocalist to be so articulate. Also, never would of thought screaming would have such a wide range of forms and techniques and be so complex at the same time. Awesome anaylsis. Really opened my eyes
That's great to hear, dude! Hope you like the rest of our content, as we cover a wide range of vocals! - Alex

I know this is a vocal focused channel, but those double basses on the breakdown are sublime.

I can confirm 100% his vocals are actually that insane. Seen him live last year. Absolutely a beast. Took longer for sound guys to fix him up he kept maxing the speakers.
Bruh that shit killed me. He always screams demolisher without the mic and it's so fucking loud.
They are real. He's a beast. I saw them when I had no idea who they were when they toured with my husband, and I was like, omg who is that crazy Russian guy and what part of hell did he spawn from? Lol. Then I saw them a few more times, it's intense.
This is my favourite track they've ever released! Alex is easily one of the best vocalists I've ever heard.
“Okay so here’s the thing.....that’s really low”
slaughter to prevail - one of the few metal bands to be accused of editing their vocals for being TOO metal
and then you watch the live versions of him screaming demolisher and it becomes ridiculous
I've seen these guy's live many times an I can tell you Alex's vocal are legit
Okay two things:
1. Amazing song.. sooo glad you chose this one
2. Dude's reaction throughout made it even better. When he pulled out the sword tho
Love it!
The whole time I’m watching you wipe your face thinking “turn that damn fan on bro” lol
Believe me right after finishing the video I cranked that sucker. But the fan noise is a pain to EQ out when editing :/
Kardavox Academy lol I feel ya. Need a good mic set up that keeps that out
My immediate thought was "why the hell are you wearing a shirt then"
"im convinced alex's anatomy is just big... and beefy..." *sweats uncomfortably*
I just witnessed a man sweat in agony while listening to and analyzing a badass deathcore band. Someone buy this man a new air conditioner...
I wouldve turned on through ceiling fan
U know its a brutal song when the breakdown makes u grab a sword and go raid villages.
"no effort at all really" *sweats profusely* haha JK loving the reactions.
Thank you for all the effort you continuously put in for us viewers.
Thanks Avon. It's my pleasure, I love doing this!
I seen him do this at a show and it was the same voice. It was the most intense vocal display I have seen live.
When you want to be educational but can't stop yourself having a blast. This was actually so fun to watch.
I've watched this a few times, and that goddamn alert gets me every time.
Enjoyed your take on the song! Yeah I agree, regardless of whether Alex can get that deep naturally, that breakdown is fuckin METAL!
He's NUTS! He can definitely get this low, I've been scanning his videos after recording this and he's basically a vocal monster
@@KardavoxAcademy oh shit, I just checked some of his vids out! Wiiiillllddddd
When a breakdown is so heavy you bust out the sword. Love it Mark 🤣🤣
Even your windows OS was like nah I'm out, after the breakdown
I will just never understand how actually people can sing like this and then continue with their lives just like nothing happened
The studio track certainly has plenty of compression to the vocals, but it would really play havoc trying to attenuate the frequency range...maybe they set up the post production for the bass guitar, and then just went "Yo Alex, its your turn!" ....do they even need a bass guitar though?
haha
Dude, I've been singing death metal in the shower for years & you have taught me so much. Thank you eternally!
The voice of Jormungandr himself. I see that hammer. Hail Asatru

When he pulls out the sword lol I have never seen such an appropriate reaction to anything
Pitch-shifted or Not .... It's the most brutal song of this year ... And i wanted to thank you Mark, for all your videos, they helped me a lot improve my metal singing ! Thousand thanks !!
Damn , I fell out of the metal loop for a couple years and wasn't expecting to stumble on a Viraemia member doing reaction videos ! Done a bit more digging and so sorry to hear about Scott, dude was a major inspiration in my tech death extended range bass days. Can't wait to check out some more of your vids! Take care man !
It is NOT pitch shifter but definitely heavily filtered. Just like everything else we listen to lol. No one else in the world really sounds like him. Super talented dude. This is why I love metal. It's pretty rare to listen to music where people are pushing the limits of what the body can do. Very impressive.
I've never listened to this kind of music before. I just came here on a whim. Song is kick ass!
LMAO when you pulled out the sword that's exactly how I felt during that part. TO BATTLE.

Thanks bro, glad you dig it!
"Its really pretty effortless" immediatly wipes sweat off of face😂
That breakdown he does in the middle of the song always gives me goosebumps
I usually hate when the reaction people pause the video after every note but I actually like it when he does it because he has something informative to say. He doesn't just throw out a bunch of technical terms; he explains exactly what's going on and a brief overview of how to do it
