Sick vocal work in the new song, man. Definitely some of your best work.
Thanks so much for checking out the video! Great track and great vocals as always. Stay safe!
PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... keep up the music. This song FUCKING kills it. I wish y'all would tour the United States again. I missed all my chances to see you.

Alex, Please can you do vocal cover on this is "hell" track by Mick Gordon - BFG Division (OST DOOM)
Hey people! thumb up if you wana this vocal cover on BFG Division
When the breakdown is so immense the only correct response is to grab a sword and head to battle.
What else are you suppose to do?
Mace or battle hammer would also be acceptable implements.
And a hammer in the other hand 🔨
I personally thought a battle axe with that spike on the other end to slam skulls would pair equally well with this song💪🏽
I'd crowd kill the fuck out of everyone with a sword and it would be acceptable at this show. Lololol
This man just took out a sword and started waving it around during a breakdown, something I have never seen but greatly appreciated
Praise the algorithm! Praise the reaction wave! XD
I was fucking DYING at that
And with some like proper technique...
That made my night lmao
Sh!t that’s what I said.
I've heard these vocals live. These are not pitch shifted at all. He sounds exactly like the recording
Same. I thought this was edited to fuck. Seen him live and they're carbon copied. Alex terrible is a fucking Demon.
Tbh I'm pretty convinced he just lip synchs the pre recorded part for the Russian speaking bit. It sounds too identical every time on top of sounding a bit differently mixed and way louder than all of his actual screaming through the mic.
@@udaman100 I have no problem believing he did them in the studio and does all of his other vocals live(I mean, fuck, right after the Russian speaking part live he belts "DEMOLISHER" into the crowd, with no mic, and you can hear the fucking scream in the venue), I just mean specifically the Russian speaking bit.
@@MightBeCale You're talking about the lowest vocals of the song right? The part where it's just him and no other instruments? I'm sure they're mixed it a little to sound clearer but it's definitely not pitch shifted because he's posted countless videos of him doing those vocals with just his phone's audio.
@@udaman100 I know, I'm not arguing that they're pitch shifted. I'm saying that I think live, they just play that bit pre recorded because it just doesn't sound like he's naturally doing it live, it literally sounds 100% completely identical to the recorded song, extra EQ shit to make it sound wider etc and all.
I love how Alex is wearing the Russian stereotypical Adidas track pants.
casual slav squat whilst singing too
Jonathan Davis from Korn wore the same pants in his youth lol :)

I think it helps that russian as a language can just sound terrifying anyway

I guess its because is alex natural language (idk if I wrote right)
@@BlueFireSapphire lmfao
That was gonna be what I said. Russian just seems like its naturally spoken with more bass.
Should hear the kill pizza line from their song hell.
One could argue that Alex slays the breakdown so hard that he actually slavs it
Niiice
He was a squatting slav in a track suit when he was perched on the stage monitor about half thru lol
I should give this a thumbs down for how much it made me laugh
As an audio engineer I don't feel they're pitch shifted. They sound like they are just because alex is unhuman, but I don't feel there's any pitch shifting tool out there that can sound that natural. When you use those tools, especially on extreme vocals, you can hear artificial elements added to the vocals. Here I don't hear any of those artifacts.
I agree. After listening to this and comparing it to his vocals on his instagram / RUclips channel, dude is just a beast. Thanks for the insight as an audio engineer!
Simone Pietroforte i know i engineer my music which like rap haha but it seems like it would sound totally different if the pitch was manipulated digitally
I feel as an audio engineering student that people feel its pitch shifted bc I can pick up there's 2 or 3 different tracks one for the left one for the right and am not completely sure but one more going both ways so like how you would record guitars a lot of tracks to give it that really open and giant feeling to the song
I feel like you'd be able to hear a difference in how airy his t's and s's and the percussive nature of some of the consonants change in pitch if that were the case. But I've been wrong before.
Lol guys looks like Alex himself has something to say about this:
instagram.com/p/B_wOfqWoZnp/?igshid=9rr9uwu3a0ua
As a sound engineer, he IS that low, but there are a couple things added for saturation and wideness. Things like reverb and certain effects help, but he is STILL that low. Plugins don't make it "lower", that would be regular pitch shifting. An I can tell when a voice is pitch shifted. He's that low, but it's helped by something to add the wider parts of the spectrum and bring in other tones in the same track. So for example, if you did a low, and I just EQ'd it normally, it would still sound good and full. But to add to it, you want to have something that over exaggerates something other parts of the frequency spectrum. Example, bringing out the lows(duh), but also bringing out more mid and high to help the low stand out. And compression is also a HUGE factor in doing vocals of ANY kind. Another big part is LAYERING and how you treat each individual layer. So if I take 5 of the same recording, take two and throw them far left and right, 2 more and throw them to 45 degrees left and right, the last is a center, but I turn that center one down, it makes it sound BROADER. And then with the extreme left and right I add saturation and EQ, the 45's only get EQ, but the center gets saturation AND EQ, it makes it sound totally different then justt having the center by itself, even with the EQ and saturation. There's a lot more I could say, but yes, he IS that low. The engineer is just REALLY good at making it sound bigger then it already is.
Edit: IF, and I really mean IIIIFFFF, there is any pitch shifting, its a layer underneath to give the whole sound more girth. The main one you hear is still how low he gets. Again, MAJOR use of the word IF here.
Very well put
Nice in depth explanation, I'm not a vocalist or sound engineer or anything, I just like to understand more about the things I enjoy, thanks dude.
Is he that low though?
@@carpediem8314 Alex Terrible's lows are so low that it would make the heaviest matter in the universe look like helium
Even if there was anything added, it still sounds sick. No one gives guitarists shit for adding distortion to their guitars like “Oh you can’t make it sound like that raw? You’re shit then”.
I've seen soooo many of these "vocal coach reacts to demolisher", all of them pretty much just say "wow, omg, no way". It's actually pleasant to see you discuss and go in depth into Alex's vocals. Big respect!
Thanks bro!
@@KardavoxAcademy Hey man, you miss one big point - Alex switch from english to russian for main part.
As a Russian, I can say that it is really difficult for us to sing in a low voice in English, but when we use Russian the sound is much lower.

When the breakdown is so hard that you are forced to practice actual medieval combat in your room
Dude, I've never seen any self-proclaimed vocal coach go into as much detail as you. Believe me, it helps you stand out. Never lose that! Cheers 😁
Thanks so much!
When a vocal coach's reaction to your singing is "WHAT?!" you have either done something really wrong or incredibly right.
Or it's the typical RUclips "Vocal Coach Reacts" that listens to Metal for the first time and not knowing anything about the vocals. It's quite refreshing to see one who actually does know this stuff and can actually explain and demonstrate it.
@@fredmachine well he seems to know the ins and outs of metal but nothing like this.
He did those pre-breakdown insane lows live, there is footage of it in his insta post. Maybe some added proximity effect in the final mix but literally every vocalist does EQ stuff lmao. Alex is just... beyond this realm.
There are quite a few videos of him doing it live already. And the reason Alex does the shush thing is so that he can scream DEMOLISHER without his microfone in his raw natural voice. And is low. And loud. As fuck
I've seen the video youre talking about...its unhuman, nay, UNHOLY.
It sounds like its layered with part of it being EQd to give that demonic sound. Nothing new but Alex can do those lows naturally.
Yep, he just uploaded it raw in his IG

Alex is an INSANE vocalist and in my opinion, one of the best in Deathcore. He's got many instagram videos, and videos on his channel, of him having mastery over his resonance and tone. What are your thoughts on his performance here? Honestly, I give it two thumbs up, A+, 100%! The reason I addressed the claim of pitch shifting is because one person mentioned it, but after hearing it in this video I don't see any sign that it is pitch shifted. 14:54 and 19:06 for reference :) And I've seen many of his live videos, he's an absolute beast!
Kardavox Academy there’s tons of live videos of him doing this part on the internet from when he was touring with bodysnatcher
instagram.com/p/B_wOfqWoZnp/
The more often i hear this section, the less i think they are shifted. Shifted was my first thought - but nah.... The sound "natural" to me. The live ones are crazy deep and loud as well.
If not pitshifted it's heavily edited. Cuz that TEXTURE doesn't sound like something produced by just the voice.
Kardavox Academy he has a recent insta video of him doing the breakdown of demolisher live and when he gets to “demolisher” drops the mic and screams it without the mic and it’s rigoddamndiculous
The russian part translated is :
Everyone will be robbed of everything he loves so much There are no broken destinies Fire is burning in my eyes since birth Death comes, it wakes you up Demolisher, oh
Köszi :D Végre értem :D
All i hear is demon summoning incantations
I love that I found a metal vocal coach...most of the RUclips vocal coaches have NEVER dipped into metal!!
We're glad you found us, Chris!
@@KardavoxAcademy :)
They have now though. It's become a FAD of recent. I'm not mad at that but they definitely capitalise on metal heads finding regular pop music listeners reactions, funny.

She even convinced Will Ramos from Lorna Shore to an Experiment to send a camera down His throat to See whats going on in His throat and with His vocal chords while screaming and growling Like this
When he does that extremely low part he's also doing it in Russian, y'know. just so it actually sounds like he's talking in some demonic tongue.
Yeah it's doubled up, and pitched down. He can absolutely hit those lows live but it sounds so much cooler pitched down that Mark grabbed a sword

2 things...never imagined a deathcore vocalist to be so articulate. Also, never would of thought screaming would have such a wide range of forms and techniques and be so complex at the same time. Awesome anaylsis. Really opened my eyes

the live instagram footage of him saying demolisher without a mic :weary:
Seriously I was hoping this would have the live scream because nothing compares to that video. As for engineering I believe that this is all Alex

It says a lot about a vocalist when he’s literally louder than the entire crowd WITHOUT THE MIC

I can confirm 100% his vocals are actually that insane. Seen him live last year. Absolutely a beast. Took longer for sound guys to fix him up he kept maxing the speakers.
Bruh that shit killed me. He always screams demolisher without the mic and it's so fucking loud.
They are real. He's a beast. I saw them when I had no idea who they were when they toured with my husband, and I was like, omg who is that crazy Russian guy and what part of hell did he spawn from? Lol. Then I saw them a few more times, it's intense.

The whole time I’m watching you wipe your face thinking “turn that damn fan on bro” lol
Believe me right after finishing the video I cranked that sucker. But the fan noise is a pain to EQ out when editing :/
Kardavox Academy lol I feel ya. Need a good mic set up that keeps that out
My immediate thought was "why the hell are you wearing a shirt then"
I just witnessed a man sweat in agony while listening to and analyzing a badass deathcore band. Someone buy this man a new air conditioner...
I wouldve turned on through ceiling fan
I have no interest in becoming a metal singer but i honestly find it fascinating how easy these guys make this look. I literally always thought you just screamed until you shredded your throat and thats how this was done.
Okay two things:
1. Amazing song.. sooo glad you chose this one
2. Dude's reaction throughout made it even better. When he pulled out the sword tho
Love it!
"im convinced alex's anatomy is just big... and beefy..." *sweats uncomfortably*
I will just never understand how actually people can sing like this and then continue with their lives just like nothing happened
It's on point with his wide body build as to how low he got, I'm built like he is and when I was serious into vocals, I could get stupid low. Not as low as him, but if I probably practice like he did, its do able. I also think his accent helps him alot to make it more intimidating too, which is fucking badass. Guys got rediculous vocal talent and he definitely put in the work. I hope his band goes far as they deserve it.
He's SOOOO HUUUUGE in person lol. It's really intimidating but he's super nice. But yeah, I'd never doubt that tone out of someone his size. It's more jarring to hear it come from someone small like Phil Bozeman.
I seen him do this at a show and it was the same voice. It was the most intense vocal display I have seen live.
Okay, after watching through many of the live preformances of this song. I can confirm that this is not pitch shifted. This man is a monster. And his projection is outstanding. Simply look it up to believe in the beast
When a breakdown is so heavy you bust out the sword. Love it Mark 🤣🤣
When you want to be educational but can't stop yourself having a blast. This was actually so fun to watch.
I've watched this a few times, and that goddamn alert gets me every time.
Every time I hear Alex doing his staff (or Dickie Allen for that matter) I am one step closer to trying learning it myself. And every single time I am around family/ my dogs/ have someone sleeping. But one day I hopefully will return to this channel and relisten to these great explanations
You are a very effective and skill full communicator, an art that is rare these days. A pleasant and learning experience with every video ,much appreciated, keep it going...
Alex’s IG is loaded with the most brutal of the lows. I doubt he’s pitch shifting. 100% him.
14:30
If you never seen slaughter live, youd definitely think it was pitched. Back in oct of last year I saw them at some local mostly metal pub like 5 minutes from my house...oh my Alex's lows are insane. Recorded their whole performance lol.
Dude, I've been singing death metal in the shower for years & you have taught me so much. Thank you eternally!
Too the pitch shifting claim, if you look it up, there are videos of him preforming the song live, and he definitely goes that low.
They use a backing track live but this one sounds legit unlike agony
zedpwner - Mobile Gaming and More Yeaahhh.. I was gonna say the ones I've seen of Agony there's a clear backtrack to get that effect live. I mean it's cool as fuck and he def can scream in many variations but idk the backtrack on vocals just threw me off. I know bands have used backtracks for forever with instruments if they're missing a memeber and what not, but I prefer the vocals more raw live.
I usually hate when the reaction people pause the video after every note but I actually like it when he does it because he has something informative to say. He doesn't just throw out a bunch of technical terms; he explains exactly what's going on and a brief overview of how to do it
Holy shit man I'd kill for lessons! Nowhere in the UK that has vocal coaches dedicated to metal/rock singing! 😭

Seeing them live. Theres no way he pitch shifts. Anyone who's seen them live knows this. I think its mainly haters who can't do the same with their own vocals honestly.

The pure joy on this great man’s face made me feel like we are best friends rocking out together. Ready for battle, slaying orcs and women alike. You sir, are a champion.
In real life his REALLY low growls don’t sound as wide, but definitely as deep. It probably has something done to it to achieve this specific sound in the song, but there is nothing done to the volume or pitch of the audio.
Edit: Really good video btw, well in depth and well organized.
As an engineer that is what it sounds like when vocals are shifted. Now. I don’t think they are. His vocals have a specific texture to them and the sound of these screams sound more like his nasal cavity. He is just fucking insane😂
alex is probably like top 3 vocalists in the deathcore scene IN MY OPINION
I'd say Alex, Phil Bozeman, and Dickie Allen for me personally
RedDragonAutomaton97 dickie allen is definitely my second favorite. i know this might be kind of a frowned upon opinion but my favorite vocalist is CJ McCreery even though well. ya know lmooo
That breakdown he does in the middle of the song always gives me goosebumps
I've never listened to this kind of music before. I just came here on a whim. Song is kick ass!
I have two views on this:
1. The engineer view:
I thought they were pitch-shifted on my first listen, but then I remembered that screams are basically a clusterfuck of frequencies chaotically fading in and out and therefore are very hard to pitch down without a lot of nasty artifacts due to their complex nature. You can do it for doubles as far as I know from my experience as a hobby producer. Lower in the mix you don't notice the artifacts as much. But doing that to the MAIN probably wouldn't really sound as good.
2. As a self taught vocalist who loves experimentation:
I recently discovered a cool little trick that was new to me.
As you mentioned: the chest cavities, neck and sinuses play a big role in shaping the tonal quality of your voice. So if we could change them we could all become inhuman vocalists like Mr Terrible. But we can't change our chest cavity for example. But here's what we can change: The length of our throat. Well... Not really, but we can use our tongue to artificially create a "longer throat" by positioning it as if it were a continuation of our throat. Thus it is possible to get nastier and more guttural sounding growls than ever before. I've found this to be quite useful. Cheers \m/
I'm for the most part self taught, and that little goblin voice thing was something new. I have learned something new today, danka.
Out of all the reactions of this song, this was probably the most entertaining!
What I love about his videos:
- He doesnt say "thats how you do it" usually there are many ways.
- He doesnt take it for granted that I know shit, which I dont!
- He explains it for ppl that know something, but not everything. I dont know anything, but it brings me closer.
Someone from school (about 10yrs know) was able to growl, but got bleedy chords after some time. So he was just bad. Only knew bc of YT.
Not that I wouldve better, but if you wanna do that, that your job... And nobody told him him I guess...
Your reaction is so GOLD! Man I've seen this video a few times and the reaction you have at the breakdown is just amazing xD I reacted the same way the first time I heard him live. Amazing vocalist. The whole band is just sheer power.
Glad you enjoyed!
You came for 12:16
Im not a huge deathcore fan but god damn that low breathy demolisher scream make me nut
Ah thank you
"Its really pretty effortless" immediatly wipes sweat off of face😂
My trick to try and to achieve his low tone at the main part of the song by adding mire of a whisper to my low growl having it more open rather than super compressed
Controlling that little extra bit of airflow is such a great way too improve lows, I agree! Its a tough balance for a lot of people but once you get it, man, it really makes a difference.
A whisper you say? How does that work?
i just love how much fun youre having and then alex summons your inner demon haha
Been on tour with him, it's real, it's not pitch shifted. I've heard him doing it backstage.
Alex is so brutal as ever this song is their best!

This is awesome bro. Ive been a huge Kardashev fan for years and just found this channel and was instantly a fan. I was a vocalist many years ago and would love to do it again...but learn to do it better lol. Anyways big fan and happy to find your channel!
The vocals don't sound pitch shifted at all, Alex's lows are just monsterous. It just sound like the reverb is done very wide, with little decay to it, making it fill the room when combined with it being so low.
Edit: If there's a new DOOM game and he worked on it, I'm pretty sure he could voice 80% of it alone.
