This woman is absolutely amazing. No matter you stance on the royals, she was an astonishing person. She did so much that one book couldn't cover it. Talked down an assassin that came for her. Talked to the kids on the radio to give them hope in wwII when she herself was so young. Served in the army. She's remembered for her corgis but she's so much more than that. Btw one of those was a gift from her late husband, she grew to love it so much she got more.
She reminds me so much of my granny. Those 1920s babies say what ever pulls their curiosity.. I love it

My grandad met and talked to the Queen when she visited out town in Timaru, he came straight from work (he was a mechanic) and covered in greasy oil stained overalls, and she seen him in the crowd and asked him how he was and what kinds of vehicles he was working on they chatted for a few minutes before she had to leave, he was the only person who got to talk to her, and it turns out she loved tinkering with engines and cars so she wanted to speak to a fellow rev head

One of my favorite stories about her is at the age of 72 she drove a Saudi prince around and he was terrified.
@@Ad1nfernum I think she got to tinker with her vehicles at Balmoral Castle when she went on holiday there, though not as much as she wanted to especially her last few years. But I think I did read something that she did do some of the servicing of her vehicles there (with the help of her mechanic that looked after them while she wasn't there) up until her last decade or two, but please don't quote me on that as I'm nowhere near 100% certain that is true.

Not to mention no monarch has led the military for at least 300 years. If you want to blame someone for them not having fulfilling lives, blame the prime minister.

She tried to connect with someone almost as old as she was. I have served in Canadian Army and took the oath to served her. Some people didn't like her for what she represent, but i knew better. Few people know what she did 'behind the doors' to help not only her subjects, but also people all over the world, organizations, and specific people she would help out only out of compassion and because it pleases her. She was from another time, when you gift in silence, where your generosity is not always public... She did her best. i respect that.

She's clearly looking at his medals. If the Canadian military is anything like the U.S., medals are given for time served.
We are not like the US. At 20 years service you get a DC medal for Distinguished Conduct which the troops jokingly refer to as Didnt get Caught. Otherwise they would all be campaign or Valor medals.
Trivia: Your highest award is the Congressional Medal of Honour, ours is the Victoria Cross. Almost as many Canadians have been awarded the CMH (80+) as have been awarded our own VC (90+).
@@johnkidd1226 Nice! I'm not sure about all branches, but in the Navy, we received the Good Conduct Medal for making it 4 years (as you mentioned, without getting caught), with a bronze star for each consecutive 4 years. We referred to ours as an atta boy. 😉✌️

I believe she was looking at his medals when she made the statement “looks like that.” They’re all wearing different style of hats and uniforms. He looks as though he’s more decorated then the others in his regime. I’m pretty sure she’s not talking about him looking older because from what I see the other officers aren’t that much younger ( except the bearded hottie) the most likely in the same decade.

She’s looking at his medals and decorations of service. In the uk you get a long service medal around 25 years so I can assume it’s the same in Canada. She knows her stuff and is very observant ☺️
12 years in Canada, but you get a bar on the medal for each additional 10 years. He has 1 bar on his showing 22 years.
