Hi All - For Global Shipping the ships and ferries slider needs to be set at 80-100% to benefit from a reasonable volume of traffic. We highly recommend 100% as the performance impact is negligible. Enhanced AI updates the few ~1000 default routed cargo and cruise ships too so a higher ship and ferry slider also improves your experience from that product. Our other sceneries use settings above 10% as well.
Global Shipping quantity jumps in 10% increments so you will NOT get anything below 10%. We understand that going below 10% is recommended for the freeware in order to reduce/remove the default routes that conflict with it. Clearly this is not recommended for owners of our addons. Thanks for featuring two of our products in this video and giving us the opportunity to clarify optimal settings. We hope you have plenty of fun with whichever combination you choose 😀👍

@@PIEINTHESKYTOURS Just know that that will effectively be turning Global Shipping off so people shouldn't expect to see any traffic from it at low settings.👍 As such we don't recommend it if you want the real-world based traffic increase.

Now I am confused :-). I also have the 2 ship mods by ORBX (and usually set this to 100% - but honeslty, there are not many ships out there). What would be recommended for running all THREE mods? 7%? (What Seafront says will switch OFF their Global AI) so it will run only the flightsim.to Gobal ship AI? For static ships, will still the Seafront models be used (by MSFS)?

OUTSTANDING!!!! This finally addresses the question I always find myself asking while I'm in a flight, but then forget all about it after I've flown and closed the sim. In fact, it was only yesterday that I downloaded and installed the "GST MSFS V2" from flightsim.to. I was pleased to see the traffic but I still didn't see any real motion going on like I was used to seeing in FSX.
However, your video enlightened me to the first two "Vessels..." payware, which I can get through Orbx. This is what I needed to know because up until now, the lakes and seas were like something out of an apocalyptical-themed movie LOL!
After I installed the flightsim.to addon package for Milford Sound, (including the suggested "GST MSFS V2"), all of which I installed yesterday, I was glad to see the ships and ferries in, and around, the sound.
But I wasn't sure if they were planted there as part of the NZMF addon installation, or as a result of the Global Ship Traffic MSFS V2 installation, or both. However, I didn't have time to go to some other location, (far from NZMF), to confirm the additional shipping elsewhere on the ocean and/or lakes yet.
The only question I have, (but will figure out soon enough), is what to set the MSFS UI Boat Traffic percentage to, considering that I'll have all 3 of the software packages shown in your video, installed. You suggested 80%+ for the first two addons, but then recommended a max of about 7% for the third.
I didn't quite understand your caution about how the 7% would avoid possible anomalies, (I'm paraphrasing because I don't recall your exact words). The GST MSFS V2 developer also recommended a low setting for the MSFS Boat traffic, but I'm concerned that if it's set too low, the payware vessels won't show up, no?
Well, I'll find out soon. Thanks again for the video!
    Rich

Great review. I'll be probably buying both of Seafront's addons, as GAIST is great and the number of ships it's modeled is unbelievable, but the volume of traffic is nearly nonexistent in my experience. At 10% busy Mediterranean harbors are almost empty when there should be dozens of ships of all sizes according to real life data. So doesn't matter if I have 800+ excellent models but I can never view more than 1-2 of these. Traffic >>>> ship model variety, especially if you're flying over 3000' and can't see much detail anyway.

@@PIEINTHESKYTOURS First impressions are excellent. I now have plenty of ships and boats and whatnot even in relatively confined waters. Exactly what I was looking for. All 3 mods are enabled (GAIST included) with ship/ leisureboat traffic bumped to 100% and so far I haven't seen any issues.

Great video Chris. I was waiting for that because I was not sure to combine that mods.
But if you set the traffic to 7 do you see enough of the Seafront vessels? Sometimes I try to land on them with the H135🤣 but I guess not all have a hardened surface. (Heinrichs ones don't have that. I know)

    • @kevinbrook7033
      @kevinbrook7033 3 года назад +5

I have used all three. Obviously Heinrich's GAIST mod is essential, and works well with SU5 now with no slowdown. He's also bringing wakes, night lighting and hardecks in the future. There's thousands of unique vessels that are regional specific, for me its one of the best add ons available, free or payware.
I bought both Seafront Simulation's Enhanced AI and Global Shipping Mods. My thoughts below.
Enhanced AI - Recommended for most users, especially who fly coastlines a lot
Replaces the stock Asobo crappy boats with much better PBR model ships. The night lighting is really well done, the wakes are ok but look very jaggedy from a distance in VR, even with the G2. Not the fault of the add on, masts, cranes etc also look jaggedy in other add ons.
I really like the yachts, they make the coastline look much nicer. All of the boats in Enhanced Ai just randomly generate, so you'll see a few around each bit of coastline, normally two or three, maybe four or five in larger bays. I think this is a worthwhile purchase as the new boats are a lot nicer.
Note that you get 14 models, but you'll only really see five or six of the leisure boats as you require the Global Shipping Mod to see all the cargo boats as they don't autogenerate but follow fixed shipping routes.
Global Shipping - Only recommend if you visit a lot of major port cities, follow shipping routes, does nothing for coastlines
The Global Shipping mod is definitely not for everyone. It does add thousands of shipping routes for realistic cargo traffic, but it does not enhance coastlines in any way. If, like me you fly mostly around the coast, I fly around Devon and Cornwall a lot the global shipping mod does nothing at all.
If you fly a lot in major city ports or shipping areas, then you will get a LOT more traffic, dozens of ships in places like Gibraltor for example.
It's a good buy if you fly these kinds of routes a lot but if you don't then I wouldn't recommend. I got a refund, as the places I like to fly, Penzance, Newquay, St Ives, Torbay, Plymouth, Jurassic Caost, Weymouth etc, despite being fairly significant harbours and bays did not get a single cargo ship added. Meanshile Heinrich's GAIST add on does let me see the odd tanker and cargo ship along those parts of the coast.
Therefore I kept Enhanced AI for much nicer looking leisure boats, and Heinrich's free mod as that's perfect for enhancing general coastlines. I'd only get Global Shipping if you frequently travel to major shipping ports as you won't see the benefit else.
