Man, I am really shocked by that tbh... Have a very powerful memory of playing MFS 2020 flying over mine and my father's house in the game. It was one of the last things I did with him before he passed away very suddenly with a brain tumour. It completely blew us away the level of detail then, this looks like a whole step more again. Crazy.
Sorry for your loss man, hope your doing good.
Sorry for your loss.
I never thought Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 could be humiliated.
I know right
@@robburgundy9539 TBH, I was annoyed with how it made Manhattan (where I live) into a dense forested area. The 2D photogrammetry was wearing on me even before 2024 was unveiled.
they suddenly release all the bad looking images. You can find those in the 2024 version as well, naturally. They will be shown in 2028 when the next version arrives. 2020 looks great, is all I am saying. It deserves better.
Just imagine Msfs2028
@@1979Weasel Those images from 2020 are BAD? 🤔
That mount fuji shot at 1:50 just looks like real life, with the stones on the banking of the lake. Insanely detailed
That foreground detail really sells the whole shot. Impressive.
Bump for the algorithm - new graphics look great
MS2020 = Real-life
MS2024 = Real-liferer
🤯
Wow, what a difference 4 years made. Absolutely love the amibition behind this.
Ironically, I stopped playing Flight Simulator 2020 after becoming a paramotor pilot IRL. I am VERY excited to get back into the adventure with Flight Simulator 2024. It looks like there are enough changes that warrant the 60 dollar price tag.
I'm all-in on career mode.
I am very excited for it because of all the different scenario's and missions, I honestly feel like 2020 is a little bit "stale". You have to make up your own "missions" there aren't many and they are not as worked out as we saw in the trailers.
I never thought I'd get so excited about rocks.
I love how you notice the oil stains at the exhaust. And the dirt obviously. This sim is going to change so much. Adds so many possibilities. Imagine mods now.
Me: Damn looks awesome
My PC: Please kill me
You can get out of your plane and walk around?! Across the entire planet? That’s mental!
Oh yes! It's one of my most anticipated features :D In a recent interview Jorg talked about walking a trail he did in Germany as a child and how amazing it looked in the sim. This is from the official site:
Land anywhere and, for the first time in Microsoft Flight Simulator, exit your aircraft to explore 27 highly detailed biomes with hundreds of species of vegetation, dynamically created details including grass, rocks, and flowers - all influenced by seasonal changes. The all-new photometric lighting system renders the world more accurately than ever before, and enhanced weather features such as new cloud types, auroras, and other weather phenomena produce fresh and compelling atmospheric experiences.
And this is another thing Jorg said in an interview:
"You can now exit the plane, walk around, in 2024," Neumann reveals. "You can literally walk your favourite mountain path to your favourite hut in the mountains. Sit on the lake. See the sunset. It is truly a digital twin you can absorb."
Imagine the fun we could have if they can run a smoothing/leveling algorithm on the road layer so they are driveable without all the jaggies and tilt. You could drive anywhere on Earth, too. I know it's weird sounding, but I've had fun seeing what some places look like at road level. It's getting almost detailed enough now!
Tbh I’m not bothered about these enhanced graphics. I fly aircraft and I’m not bothered about walking around. I want msfs2024 to be more efficient for VR headsets and more realistic aircraft with more accurate clouds and weather etc.
My PC just groaned with old age 😅🤣😂
If you have a reasonable PC, then it should actually use less hardward and bandwidth for the same level of detail.
@@dtrjones well I'm over Recommended Spec, so here's hoping.
Your PC, my pc couldn’t even load it up being a 2004 Nov build….
Gently patting my 1660 Ti on the back🥲
Way more is dependent on your download speed. That's why the sim is only 50GB.
I've already decided that the first thing I'm going to do is walk around Lake Windermere. Haven't been to the Lake District since a childhood holiday many moons ago.
I might fly some planes at some point as well.
I'm a site seeing type myself. I would love a 3rd party add on that allows you to build full 3d homes like in those architecture software. Imagine finding a location and building your dream home in this sim with a heli pad or hanger out back with a runway. Now youre only limited by your imagination. See a bluff over looking a sun set view of the ocean? Edit the landscape and build your house.
It's a shame with all the raytracing push in the games industry, nobody's figured out how to efficiently create BVHs at scale. Relying on screenspace reflections and AO are the only issues these visuals really have.
Sometimes you just can't think of anything to say but "wow". This is one of those times for me, especially the island and Mt. Fuji shots. Just landing randomly and looking around could fill your days!
It's unreal to me going by this video , that the sim when you are out of the plane , is as detailed , or even more than Crysis for PC was.
Insert Crysis style "Can you run it?"
@@Elwaves2925 Crysis is 17 years old. LOL
@@jonahfalcon1970 Yes it is. What's your point?
@@Elwaves2925 I can max out Crysis 17 years later lmao
@@jonahfalcon1970 You completely missed the point dumbo. I wasn't talking about running Crysis, I was applying the very well known Crysis related question to MSFS 2024. You know, MSFS, the game in the video. That's why I said "Crysis style..." 🙄😂😂
I will believe it when I see it. They still haven't even done proper water masking in tropical areas that have very shallow or extremely clear water that allows you to see the reef below.
Wow. Only 4 years and they are about 50% closer to recreating a detailed Earth than they were before. It's quite amazing. I feel like from high up in the air though, the game looks about the same. I'm still a bit skeptical though as these are hand picked screenshots to really highlight the difference. I also feel like there's some weird oversharpening on the MSFS2020 screenshots here.
What could be improved from way up high though visually? You will have passengers in the plane, a co-pilot that you get to design, Ray-tracing, and cirrus clouds… I mean, besides getting more precise on cloud formation, what more could you want?
for the low low price of $1000+ USD for all the packs you would need for HD everything. these are cherry picked and anyone that has EVER played an MS flight sim knows that you MUST purchase land packs to get more detail.. Ill take DCS all day every day.. 50-75 bucks for a detailed map all the way down to the grass.
@@CVSiN It's telling people went with "$200 edition of 2024? Oh please." to "$200 edition of 2024 is ESSENTIAL", and not in the negative way.
@@CVSiN 50-75 for only a small map honestly has always been feeling like a scam. Really now, it's a price worthy of a full game, not a map add-on. Also, DCS and MSFS are just different experiences. And in terms of geographical fidelity MSFS will be much better anyway.
@@CVSiN lmao i don't mind DCS, i used to fly it a lot and it has its purpose for sure... but whenever i'm not flying a Hornet, i'm picking MSFS all day every day, as bush flying in MSFS is 2nd to non... Did you ever try bush flying in DCS?? duh.
The career mode looks amazing, and the fact that we can land anywhere and get out of the plane and WALK is insane, especially in this level of details around most of the globe.
I got hyped for rdr3 when I saw the improved Yosemite hahaha
I already spend a ton of time with MSFS 2020, now I'm going to spend an obscene amount of time with MSFS 2024 because this is leaps and bounds above what we have now. I can't wait to walk around places I used to roam when I was a kid in Beaverton, Oregon. November 19th can't come soon enough!
I would like to be wrong but I doubt this level of detail will replicate worldwide... I think they are just showing very specific places that are kind of "handmade" and the rest of the world (aka everywhere outside NA/EU) will have very few improvements over the 2020 standards...
Also three major issues for me are not even mentioned in the latest news: multiplayer, atc and traffic logic enhancements
I have to disagree on the first point, if im not mistaken they said theyre using ai to generate more detailed terrain even when its not handmade.
You may end up being wrong if the devs are correct. They are using techniques (AI I think) to fill in the areas with all the extra detail. So if true, the whole world will have this extensive detail. Of course, we won't know for sure until nearer, or at launch but from footage I've seen it does appear to be true.
They (Asobo) claim 4000x more detail. What has actually happened is they have used surface detail textures with tesselation and augmented that will additional assets like rocks which they populate using AI. The results is a complete 3D ground system which you need to be especially careful when landing a bush plane. Trust me the detail seen in this video is everywhere. Of course the Grand Canyon is photogrammetry so you shouldn't be comparing with that but it is very good in rural places not using PG too, just don't expect everything to look as good as the Grand Canyon.
This is not handmade, all this beastly level of detail is global.
Agree.. This is just the usual M$ way of doing things. Remember the DX10 preview in FSX?
The ground detail and especially the trees are already worth the upgrade alone for me. I love bush flying and landing at scenic locations. It really werethe half transparent sprite trees, the lack of rocks and other detail and low quality gras that put a damper on things. Not anymore it seems. I wonder how many bodies of water will really detailled rocks and pebbles on the shore like that Mount Fuji one.
I'm more about the career mode.
rocks and pebbles should be everywhere, its proceduraly rendered. look at the avangel video fort a good showoff of bushflying.
It was already stunning but it's amazing to see the quick advance in rendering quality.
American truck simulator with this tech would go hard.
World truck simulator.
those new graphics look insanely good, cant wait to play it
For all the negative comments saying “it won’t look like this everywhere” go learn about the tech used and all videos explaining why even remote areas will have 4,000x the ground detail
I’m going to use it as a travel on foot sim. Beautiful
Very exited about the career mode and the mod scene!
I wonder how it will work with my Amiga and dial up?
Flight Simulator II was on the Amiga.
You might have to tone down some settings 😂
@@Rogerkonijntje I miss my Amiga. 😟
I was was going to buy MSFS2020 when they announced MSFS2024, and i decided to wait for its release. I hope the game comes out with a fair number of missions and some tutorials.
for those on steam. it will be avaliable for preorder on sept 26th
hope the new collision geometry matches the updated graphics, i tried landing a helicopter on one of the pillars in monument valley, but ened up getting snagged on thin air
There are lots of comments about clouds but I remember that before MSFS2020 was introduced, there were lots of screenshots from MS about dramatic clouds and towering cumulus with significant vertical extension such as thunderstorm. Where have these gone? Why are we making a bit deal about Cirrus when the towering cumulus and other stratus we were promised 5 years ago are still missing?
we'll need the beefiest of machines to have it look anything like those screenshots. looks great though.
Some of those screenshots look great. I hope they manage to reduce the overhead and scale cpu performance a bit farther.
Great that the graphics have improved.. but is it cheaper to buy a cessna than afford a computer that can run this? 2020 was already a nightmare
Wow I hadn't expect to see such a gap in graphics !
Thanks for the video update, I think I must of watched most of them on RUclips...but I would love to know the exact hardware that they used to show all of these videos off. 😊
Flying out to a location and exploring on foot! So Cool! Thanks to the developers and Microsoft. Laurie. NZ. 😊
MSFS 2024 making MSFS 2020 look like xplane
Some people are freaking out over this. I'm running a 14900K @6.0 64GB RAM 1GB download speed and a 4090. This will not be a problem
Would be interesting to see if every home in the UK still has a mini forest growing in their back gardens, and i HOPE the needles are better rendered as its my back yard
the shot where its outside of the helicopter on the ground is just insane, it looks way too good to be a videogame, but i guess this is where videogames are, its crazy how in only like 30 years videogames have gone from 16 bit to this insanity. im sure in the next 50 years games are going to be just insane. but pc's are also going to cost like $20k 💀
Me looking at my 4090:
“I know what I have to do, but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it. Will you help me?”
Good thing my bandwidth got upgraded to 100mb
Cool. I can land and then go hiking and camping. VR is going to be phenomenal. If it works properly.
Well, I already played "walk" in 2020's version but.. this one, I believe I expent a lot of time actually walking around on this one. Look at the beach!
I would imagine the RAM usage is because of the switch to cloud data vs local. That means everything you need needs to be downloaded to RAM prior to flight becauae of the slow speeds vs local storage.
I'd rather know that we are going to get a fully functioning sim, to be honest. Working game saves, reliable ATC, that kind of thing.
Damn, they might as well add drivable cars now, lol
Well, Starfield finally got a car...
There really is only 1 Thing bothering me since Day 1
Unproportional large Trees, covering the whole World
If you talking about MSFS 2020, then we know that had the wrong tree types which has been addressed in the 2024 version, so that could play a factor in the wrong sizes. Trust me trees can be big. In the UK the trees around my flat are around 8 floors high.
@@dtrjones I live in Manhattan and MSFS 2020 turned it into a jungle paradise. 😅
Also, there were forests in Point Barrow, Alaska, way way above the tree line.
Great, the giraffes don't have black legs anymore...(03:35)
I'll believe it when I see non tailored regions from 500-1000 feet up.
just a sidenote: it's funny how not even Microsoft themselves don't include Windows 11 in their IDEAL SPECS :)
0:58 yeah the mountain looks slightly better, but still show slobbery textures, and remember, these are promo pictures coming from an obscure beta version not published yet, that will be available later to the public via an update...etc, we know the song man, remember when FS 2020 trailers always looked better than on your Rocket PC with RTX 4090...they said the same thing. I think we have to wait for the real reviews to show up and a few days in to see if it's worth a penny more than 2020.
No, those are pics from the recent Grand Canyon influencer event, where the influencers have said there's no difference between the game they played and those videos. Period.
I hope they overhauled the flight physics a bit.
They did quite a lot
I never thought 2020 could be bettered. Looks like I may have to eat my hat?!
I'm seriously excited for 2024
I hope we can walk around in Vr, that would be amazing
Let’s face it and I never tried it even 2020 looked glorious. I played MS flight sim probably last back 2005 so this just blows me away. 64 GB ran what does that come in at these days 😳 ideal….I can fully understand the 12 GB vram all the same and thinking a 24gb Car in a few years would run this like butter. Been out of the sim and pc game side of things for probably the last 15 years the closest I get to games is PUBG mobile on a iPad that I do enjoy. I remember the old MSFS back in the day could take even a great PC system on its knees, I guess days have changed.
So cool, literally, it was a problem in FS2020 and looks even worse in 24, will need Nvidia filters to fix.
I think this will be my new walking simulator.
What the performance hit going to be like on series X with 2024?
It'll probably be lower optimized but heavier use of the cloud. The most important part is having an SSD.
Those computer specs are very modest. If you have 16GB ram in your computer you are in no position to demand high end gaming. 32GB of DDR4 memory costs 50$. The recommended graphics card is 6 years old. So really you have to have a pretty questionable computer to not be able to play it and if you want peak graphics you can't be a beggar in the streets. These are not high performance demands, at least on paper. In reality it might be a bit more demanding, they just don't want to scare anyone away. I'm looking at a RTX4070super card, it seems to be significant bang for the buck, close to their ideal requirement, not crazy power consumption. And like I said, 32GB is 50$. Beggars in the street can afford that. The real question is, will the flight model be criminally sluggish like 2020 was. Framerate is one thing but if the flight model isn't responsive it ruins everything. I bought the game back in the day (very overpriced btw), spent 6 awful hours downloading the game because of poor decisions on their part, should just have worked like google earth, live download, and then plaid it for 1-2 hours and I was so disappointed in how awful the flight model was, how unrealistic the feel was that I didn't play it for a year. Such a good looking game (aside from towns that looked like mud) but it was completely ruined by the most important thing. They had one job.
I just hope some of the graphical problems with terrain are resolved. Not convinced that the added multi-core/threading is going to allow such increased levels of detail either especially in VR mode. Requiring more bandwidth is also concerning for a game that was so finicky performance wise from one play session to the next because of bandwidth. All this points to a stutter fest once again to achieve and see these improvements:(
I think msfs 24 should have an option to download the world terrain data. Even it its 300+ gigabytes, many people already have dedicated drives for their sim so I think it should be an option for those who either dont have a reliable connection or those who wan't to continue playing the game even when microsoft eventually shuts down the servers.
Cool, are they showing an AMD CPU should be paired with an AMD GPU only? Not an Nvidia RTX GPU? Etc. Thanks. Laurie. NZ.
So, what happens if you run out of bandwidth? I'm guessing it scales back the distance and detail, which might not look too awful. But if it suddenly starts drawing big grey blobs below you....
MS recommends 64GB of RAM. It'll also make a 4090 work very hard. I guess this is a sim that will appreciate a 5090 more.
Looks amazing, obviously not that level of detail for most areas.
I had got msfs2020 for the visuals and after playing I was not impressed at all, all the textures even when maxed out looked low detail. This, msfs2024 finally has good textures, nice 👍
Imagine if they eventually put a road reconstruction algorithm into it. Forza international :O
They should make everything as detailed as GTA or Red Dead
What I see is really impressive. Wish DCS would have these graphics :/
The new sim looks unreal. Unreal engine like good 🙂 I'll get another 32 GB of RAM and sell the 4090 and get a 5090. Then I'll be set for the foreseeable future I hope. I'm also pumped to learn that the new sim is massively better optimized, now utilizing more cores. With my Pimax Crystal, this will be absolutely amazing I think. Thanks for all your great content, Ant.
Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
well if they managed to keep their word, your 4090 will be more than enough (depending on resolution of course) as they claimed same if not lower sys reqs.. thinner client, so if anything think about upgrading your internet bandwidth (unless it's good already, of course)..
EDIT: I just read PIMAX, i guess you might wanna upgrade the card? no clue as i'm a 1080p bum, but if it runs well now chances are the new one will run equally fine.
@@almightyIrie Yeah, I just want to bump my system to the max, and be free of any spec worries for some time. Been gaming and simming on computers since the Commodore 64 (giving away my age somewhat here...LOL) and the hobby is still going strong. I'm totally mind blown to see what we an achieve these days, it's absolutely crazy. But thanks for the input, I am aware that I should already be more than OK. Take care 🙂
FS2000 still stutters, FS2024 also stutters (video previews), so when are we going to get a stable version where the game plays at stable 60 FPS?
asobo: are u serious ?
Expecting stable 60 fps in a flightsim is kinda hillarious.
With Nvidia frame generation.
@@CAL1MBO Correct me if I am wrong, but it exist only in RTX4xxx GPUs, no?
@@ownzuall you can have frame gen on all games that can run vsync off and fullscreen on amd 6xxx+ with amd fmf 2
I have a 7800x3D, 4080 Super but I still might upgrade when the next gen of CPU's/Graphics Cards come out, just to be sure :P. Also I know this is mainly a Flight SIm but I think the Photography Mode will be really popular too, you'll be able to go anywhere on the planet and get some amazing shots that'll probably look true to life on Max Settings.
I have a 5800x3d I just bought two months ago (as I’m a B550 prebuilt Asus STRIX, had 3700x) also upgraded the 3060 to a 4070 ti super. Think I’ll be ok especially since multithreading will be used now.
The buildings at JFK look better in 2020, at least when comparing the screenshots to my eye...
At this point msfs2024 could also just be a survival/adventure game with these graphics
They can do so much with these improved environments. Imagine a 3rd party dev licensing just a small section in Africa for game hunting. You'd still see simers flying around up in the skys as everything is tied together. Also, I would LOVE if Asobo or a MS studio would just take an actual city to use as a fondation to make their own GTA game. Then just add forza car elements and be able to drive over to the next cities via real highways and call it GTA WORLD. So much potential with this sim as a foundation for other ideas.
@@rotaryperfection lol you should go work as a game designer for Asobo
Will the whole world be that detailed? Or will it just be specific hand made locations?
this is great because I use MSFS as a vacation simulator.
i love this community, my god best one in the world!
Great review. What did you mean by ray tracing is going to happen but in a different version of the sim?
Raytracing is in MSFS2024, but not in MSFS2020 (which some people hoped it would be in 2020).
@@ObsidianAnt oh yes, of course. Sorry I thought you meant there were different editions of 2024 that did and did not contain ray tracing
Только после вашего видео понял, насколько улучшилась игра. Долго думал что майкрософт решил продать игру дважды
Lets just wait and see when this finally comes out. Every reviewer is pulling this same set of images which means they did not take this themself but this were prepared images. I do bealive its better but i personaly will be conservative with this till have product on my hard drive.
you're using the menu music of Acceleration Flight Simulator (AFS)
But I don't expect to spend that much time walking around on the ground. It's a flight simulator. I'm worried they are concentrating on the wrong thing.
Better ground detail will be great for bush flying, not so much for airliners. Thankfully I prefer vfr and bush flying however MS are catering for both.
RTX off vs RTX on... with the corresponding FPS drop.
Will MSFS 2024 be available for Steam, and will you be able to pre-order it on Steam?
yes, i think form the 26th
@@wout123100 Ok, thanks for the answer!
64GB of ram is the new high end glorious pc master race , 32Gb are the nobles and 16GB is the new peasants. now a poor could be like the nobles 15 years ago 🧐
The MSFS will still look good in many years. And my 4080 holds up well so that I can fly smoothly. To be able to enjoy the 2024 version with full details in 4k, the 4090 will not be enough either. So it doesn't bother me.
How will the 4090 not be enough?
@@Cloudybox12 I must say in advance that these are only assumptions. There are enough tests here on YT and in other social media as well as in test magazines. A graphics adapter with a 4090 GPU in a situation over Tokyo in the new PMDG 777 at 4k and all details still achieves a maximum of 16-18 FPS, anything under 30 is difficult, even if the monitor or TV has motionflow. And that was tested with MSFS 2020. So I'm sure that it works worse rather than better when used with FS 2024.
Wow 🎉
AMD 5800X3D / 34" Ultrawide / 4070 Super / 64GB RAM / 1GB Broadband / 2TB SSD and X52 Hotas. I think I'm ready :D
Which resolution is being used for the recommended spec list?
I don't know, the 2020 version looks great when showcasing but when I flew over the city I live in (Melbourne), the scenery was nothing like real life. The procedural generated content looks basic, only the hand made stuff looks good.
Let see how VR will look like...
Was excited until the specs. I can run 2020 in VR but won't be able to play this? Bummer.
It looks absolutely nuts
That’s why the system requirements are nuts too
but many add-ons and modification were already brought to MSFS2020 since lauching so sometimes it's not so far from MSFS2024.
According to the official sheet, SOME 2020 mods won't be compatible with 2024. But just a few. Most will.
