The player will assume the role of one character at a time following his/her timeline until he completes an objective that will move the player to an other character in the past or the future completing other events that will morph the past and the future that every character is at. You know why Sci-Fi with functional FTL drives are so popular? (Star Trek, Star Wars, Mass Effect, Dune, Battlestar Galactica, etc.) Because the real-life limitations of the speed of light, relativistic time dilation, significant power generation needs, space radiation, the lack of gravity, etc., etc., etc. are INFURIATING!!! Just you try and create a compelling story in space with those kind of limitations and inconveniences. It's nearly impossible! Unless you are telling a story that is wholly character-driven! Or one that is completely planet-bound! But then that eliminates the need for your characters to be in space, AT ALL!

Why can't we get a good open living world space building game? Like a mix between Empyrion Galactic Survival with Reforged Eden 2 but with good graphics, more Space Engineers like physics, with NPC crew and Ostranauts or RimWorld character complexity, Project Zomboid-like detailed character survival, and a Distant Worlds style living universe, but without the jank of all of these?
Careful! For a year now there's nothing but render scenes and no gameplay. On top of that, instead of presenting some new footage, they publish a book, a novel playing in that universe. I don't think, we will see a finished version before 2030. When they already start milking the second market. On top of that, they're just now (!) looking for a senior engine programmer and a lead gameplay designer - a year after the announcement! Bold move. Maybe they just want to reel in money similar to Star Citizen?
Definitely an away mission game. I don't see space flight. I'm thinking, Mass Effect, meets Assassin's Creed Odyssey. If its half of what they promise many will like it. I'm enjoying X4, but wish there was something like Elite, without FDev.
Meh, cool cinematic sure but until i see some real gameplay it doesn't mean anything to me, how many times have we seen cool cinematics and only got some crap game or no game at all.

Peter F Hamilton is involved in this?...now my interest is piqued. The guy is a true master of space opera. Pandora's Star is still my go-to recommendation when someone is interested in getting into this type of literature.
Space games are overall just boring now. Jet pack. Check. Space laser gun. Check. Space ship travels up. Space ship travels down. Get the best ship and everything is vaporized in seconds... "it's scam until proven otherwise" is the only approach to "the next big thing" in space games at this point. And there's literally 0 proof for this game actually existing at this point.

they've shown us nothing meaningful in terms of a playable product yet, so far it's all just speculative hype. Remember when Mass Effect and Destiny seemed like they could be so much more than they were on release.
my biggest disappointment with ME Andromeda is that they missed the chance of making a Star Trek like story about exploring the new galaxy and seeing what they can find. maybe even with some fun management aspects. we will see what this game is offering, because for now all we've seem is meaningless.

yeah they're not even on Steam.
It's an other kickstarter
Bold move. Maybe they just want to reel in money similar to Star Citizen?
this is like the 4th next big space game this week lol
Definitely an away mission game. I don't see space flight. I'm thinking, Mass Effect, meets Assassin's Creed Odyssey. If its half of what they promise many will like it. I'm enjoying X4, but wish there was something like Elite, without FDev.
Meh, cool cinematic sure but until i see some real gameplay it doesn't mean anything to me, how many times have we seen cool cinematics and only got some crap game or no game at all.
Is it a mmo?
It looks too good. I am pessimistic.
you are right, just wait actual gameplay video.
I really need a replacement for Elite Dangerous. I wish Frontier would come out with a new Elite game.
This game has nothing in common with ED.
@@hariszark7396 no waaaaaay
@@-Karnage yeah way.
@@hariszark7396 oh my god!!
I hate when companies spend 90% of their budget on marketing :D
Will keep an eye on it but honestly, other games with big promises have taught me to stay far away from the hype train. Might say I'm rather jaded these days when it comes to games. Especially early access/beta/alpha whatever.
This is all cinematics=instantly come here and comment this and move on
For the n'th time, there is no "most unique" or "more unique." It's either unique or it isn't.
It looks very much like Mass Effect.
Peter F Hamilton is involved in this?...now my interest is piqued. The guy is a true master of space opera. Pandora's Star is still my go-to recommendation when someone is interested in getting into this type of literature.
I have a bad feeling about this.......
So, what Starfield should have been?
Nah
Rich story driven game...
I'm all up for it, because Starfield was a huge disappointment...
This isn't the game so it really doesn't matter how good you say this looks.
Space games are overall just boring now. Jet pack. Check. Space laser gun. Check. Space ship travels up. Space ship travels down. Get the best ship and everything is vaporized in seconds... Guy in old looking cloak clothing! Check! Space games are like lets just add MAGIC powers now! Nano tech! Nano bots! Push wave powers go! Sigh... AAAA Game now? I am tired boss.
"it's scam until proven otherwise" is the only approach to "the next big thing" in space games at this point. And there's literally 0 proof for this game actually existing at this point.
just a bunch of cinematic trailers really
As a writer, I can definitively say that a story without a pre-planned ending will be wandering garbage. Do you think Cyberpunk 2077 was developed without planning the three endings in advance?
Unfortunately I just don't have time to play all these games nowadays
the book is out.. peter f Hamilton
This game will release just in 2026. I thought we could play now. 😑
they've shown us nothing meaningful in terms of a playable product yet, so far it's all just speculative hype. Remember when Mass Effect and Destiny seemed like they could be so much more than they were on release.
It sounds strange but after the very disappointing Starfield I started playing Massefect again.
@@bayramaktas4135 oh right, add starfield to that list too, I'd completely forgotten about it, shit
my biggest disappointment with ME Andromeda is that they missed the chance of making a Star Trek like story about exploring the new galaxy and seeing what they can find. maybe even with some fun management aspects. we will see what this game is offering, because for now all we've seem is meaningless.
Not having a Star Trek like galaxy exploration RPG/ simulator is my disappointment for decades.
@@hariszark7396 yeah, like I don't even need it to be Star Trek, I'm not much of a fan of Star Trek. but I LOVE the concept. I just love the idea of a story driven RPG about exploring a different galaxy and setting up human presence there.
I’m just praying one day for a real star citizen game with Mass Effect level story. I’m resigned to Star Citizen just being a scam lol. Someone else has to be able to figure out lift off from planets like SC and No Mans sky have.
That'll never happen. I think at a certain point, you have to decide what kind of game you're going to make. Trying to be all things to all people is exactly how you end up in Star Citizen's position.
Spacebourne 2.
Let's help that lonely developer make it happen.
After Starfield I won't give in to the hype. Nice design language though.
