Great job Rob. I watch a lot of your videos. I'm a totally disabled police officer hurt on duty and now all my entertainment is visual. So thank you for putting out good videos. They help me on days I'm struggling. I also started collecting.don't have many yet but they help with the ptsd. Stay well. A fan from Connecticut. USA.........Bill
Thanks Bill 😊
Rob, it's RUclips channels like yours and Danny's that have made it possible to survive this mandatory confinement. On behalf of your subscribers and myself, I'd like to extend to you a huge thank you. Cheers.
Such an iconic car. I really like these old, all metal, no plastic models, especially at this scale. They are no nonsense toys, but comparable to sculpture. Nice job.
Love the chrome details that give this just that little bit of extra. The yellow looks perfect, Tamiya to the rescue!
PERFECT paint job!!!
As for confinement, I'm a librarian, and like our costumers I'm hoping to be back at work soon, as reading is one of the best things to do when almost nothing else is possible. Besides I'm also looking forward the end of all this struggle to be able to see again our daughter who lives abroad. All the best wishes to all people!
Old school restoring done by a great Creator and now looks better than any other
One of my favourite cars of all time as well. Turned out great!
Nicely done, sir. Yellow makes the car right.
Lovely job Rob. Not sure I would ever describe the DS as beautiful but it is certainly one of the most unique looking cars ever.
One of my favorite European designed cars. Nice job!
Great job with that one looks brand new. With the yellow paint it could be a Euro 🚕 from back in the day.
My favourites these early, simple cars. Very nice 👍🏻
Beautiful. What a remarkable design
it looks great. the yellow really pops.
Can't argue with you. It's a beautiful car. And your restoration was spot on. Less is more! Thumbs up.
Love it. I enjoy your restoration videos, they help with my sanity and my customizations as well.
Very nice restoration Rob. Great details, super paintjob. Greetings from Belgium.
A triumph mate! I love the old timers restorations and this one is no exception! Absolutely gorgeous work. I wish I could double like this! Fingers crossed!
Nice Rob, it’s good to see an old fashioned restoration and you couldn’t have picked a more beautiful casting for the job. Well done...
Nice job cheers KC Tasmania Australia
Beautiful job of restoration. Your comment about not injecting the cleaner made us laugh, so thanks for that from just outside Seattle, WA.
Very nice job on this very unique and beautiful car. A friend of mine restores French cars and has one of these with the awesome hydraulic systems and steerable headlights and many more very interesting features. Im glad that you left it original and stock for the most part as everyone seems to be doing customs and adding on to the originals so its nice to see some stay close to the way theey came out of the box for a change. Thanks so much, enjoy your channel very much, glad you are staying safe and well as are we over here in Calgary Canada. Take care.
Hi Rob,another great model,it looks awesome in that yellow paint, the details set it off perfectly.
A nice restoration rob, nice and simple job good job there are plenty of customisers and restorers on you tube as well as music or I would have ended up stir crazy. Thank you all where ever you are England, United States, Aussie and New Zealand many thanks for keeping me sane👍😀
Good to see one of the early models, this one came out fantastic Rob.
Hi from Sweden. You do a great job on this nice small cars. It,s nice to watch you working.
Good looking little car great job.
You nailed it. Perfect job Rob 🙂
Another great restoration Rob. I have never been fortunate enough to see one in person. It's just a cool looking car.
Looks great. The A pillar turned out great
It's not 100-percent perfect but close enough for me
Perfect restoration Rob it looks awesome 👍👍😊
I've always loved these cars. Great job.
What a lovely job. Grwat work Rob.
I always found this Citroen beautiful and unusual. Very rare to see here in Pennsylvania. I'll watch a French film on mute just to see one. Great restore!
Bonjour rob 👍 definitely one of the most beautiful & innovative car ever, fun fact, in French ds sounds exactly like the word déesse which mean goddess 😉
The quirky garage 1999

Hello from Mulberry, Florida, USA!
Happy to hear that you're still working your day job and keeping sane.
I'm still working my night job as a security officer and keeping sane with my hobbies as well.
Greatly enjoy your channel. Stay safe!
Donovan
Working from home, staying busy and watching Matchbox Garage videos to keep my sanity! Hope all is well with you.
That's a high gloss and a very lemon yellow but I like it.
I too am working and trying to keep safe. Thanks for the videos 👍
An OUTSTANDING restoration job!!.. Look A better than it did when it left the Lesney Factory!!.. Keep up the great work Bud!!
Looks better.. Fat Fingers.. 😆!
Hi Rob wow what a difference that paint does look beautiful. These cars were very innovative in the day there interiors are very classy everything from the dash clocks to the door cards.Stay safe mate😷 I look forward to the next vid.👍
very good job, it is a very elegant car model also the French line of that car will have classic and fantastic
It looks great! Yellow really sets it off. I've never seen a Citroen here in the U.,S.
Surprising in a way , since a lot of imports came over in the '70s ...
This came out fantastic.
aw, the DS. one of the most cars ever made. XD
so shiny again, great work! ^^ and that baseplate is certainly special. ^^ no we need a restomod, with all the chrome and brushed aluminium panels filled in.
Great restoration of a nice model of a fantastic car. Would love to see you do a custom of the MB Citroen DS 1968 which has glass and interior.
Rob It Is Indeed Perfect Thanks!!! Well Done!!!
Rob if you only knew how much I(we) enjoy your videos, you make my day. Also like you I'm able to work, since our store is considered essential(aka Lowe's Home Improvement). I just wish the floor walkers( NOT BUYING ANYTHING) would stay home. End of rant :-) Please keep up the excellent work.
Great job Rob, keep up the great work. 👍👍👍
Nice job on the small fine details..
Very nice. Love the yellow
Nice restoration and paint job 👌
It looks beautiful Rob, well done, take care, Jeff
Thanks again for keeping the videos coming..
I'm still working every day as well. Hopefully closing on a house by the end of the week. Great job as always, I really like the yellow. 👍
One of my very favorite cars. Particularly the Citroen/Maserati , same basic body shape except a two door
coupe. My only view of this car was in a Burt Reynolds movie called "The Longest Yard", from the eighties I think. Nice clean job mate.
Big fan of the Moko Lesney stuff. Not got this one in my range yet but I have seen them out there. Love the simplicity of the early days
I think the small amount of chrome paint is a nice added touch. Just enough to give it that little extra pop
Beautiful car, love these old simple models, like a lot of that colour and chrome details. 😎
Hope you get also other of these and give restoration+ treatment to that 😀
Enjoyed that resto.
Nice Work on the Citroen it looks good as new!
When the DS - as said in French it resembles the word 'Déesse', meaning 'Goddess'- was first shown to the public, it was mounted on a revolving stand without it's wheels, the arches being faired in, as it was thought that the wheels spoiled it's perfect lines.
I'm fine, thanks. My nocturnal lifestyle, which I've done for nearly 30 years, actually means my life is no different at all. I'm enjoying the clean air, quiet roads, lack of light pollution at night. My friends do similar jobs, so I don't see them often anyway. I can sit in the garden with a cup of tea, and a good book. At night, the skies are clearer, and I can sit outside, and enjoy the silence.
I hope that you and yours are all well. And stay that way.👍
Beautiful job!
Cool job Rob
Lovely looking car Rob. As far as the current situation goes, I'm doing OK. I live with my sister and she basically lives downstairs, I live upstairs. I go out to do shopping and run errands for a friend who is scared to go out, and I don't blame him, he's got lung problems. I have masks, which are now mandatory in New York State, for when I go out, and really it's just day by day. I miss my Friday and Saturday game nights, but what can you do? Until we can resume whatever normal will be, all we can do is stay safe.
Stay safe mate. I understand NY state has been worse effected
@@MatchboxGarage Fortunately, I live in Buffalo, which is on the other side of NYS from New York City, and that's fortunate that I'm not in the epicenter of the outbreak in the northeast.
very nice job looks perfect
Looks great Rob! Managing to keep sane here, I too work from home.
Nicely done my friend
Great job once again Rob!
I don't know if you watch Paul Restorer on RUclips Rob but he uses a cunning little trick to protect wheels in these situations. If you drill/poke a hole in a piece of perspex and slip it over the axle *before* grinding, it keeps the wheel safe. It seems to work well for Paul and I've seen Juan use the same trick. Just a thought; I'd hate to see you chip one of these old, original wheels. What a beautiful car the Citroën DS was. It looks great in that yellow and it's a *very* close match to the original paint shade. Like you say, maybe a bit shiny but remember, the Mtchbox paint was probably over 60 years old; it would have lost a fair bit of shine over the years. Shame I can't "like" this one 200 times; I'd like to see how it looks on my shelf.😁
Cheers for now,
Dougie.
Beautiful lines on this model. These cars are in their own class. Can't help but love them. Great job sir. Stay safe and healthy.
At 6:23 😂😂😂 Great advice to anyone watching from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. 😂😂👍
Nice shiny paint job!
Isn't that the car that self jacked you can actually drive it on 3 wheels lovely job as usual Rob 👍😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah a 71/2 Citroen. I worked on one these rides smooth over bumps in the road but here hard to get parts
Correct! The real car has a pneumatic suspension system thus being able to even it self out on three wheels.
yes it was, Citroen was well known for that
Beaut resto...keep safe..were doing well down under keeping occupied watching your work👍👍❤️😎
You did a great job, looks like new
Looks really good
Nice work Rob
WOW I was like # 700, looks great, nice job on straightening that A pillar.
Great job matey looks like new 👍👍
I. Like. It. The. Yellow. Come. Out. Nice. Love. Too. Watch. U. Do. Them. Lee
There’s another channel, can’t remember which... when removing axle ends he gets a strip of plastic, pops a hole in it, & slips it over the axle to protect the wheel. Nice job this one. My favourite design of all time...
Better than new!
Wow! Love it!
Another great job mate!
Very good job! Totally agree that Citroën is one of the best old Lesney Matchbox models. I know yellow was the original paint, but a metallic blue with white roof would be fantastic. 👍
Jolly good Rob !!! 👍👍👍
Nice model. In real life i would prefer the CX especially the Loadrunner. It's a three axles stationcar with six wheels made in germany based on the CX stazionwaggon.
As an American, the Citroen DS always seemed very cool and exotic to me when I would see it in movies. These older Matchbox models are so beautiful in their simplicity.
If you saw back to the future 2 there was one in the future the taxi cab that Biff rode in following Marty and Doc.
Good as new... 👍
All good here, hope you are all safe in Matchboxland...
Did you know, that Citroen did took the idea of "cornering light" from 1948 Tucker Torpedo?
Edit: Thanks for asking! We do good except the 80% loss of work.. i have my own 1.5 people IT company and we are almost down to 15-20% of usual work and income.. But hey, we are not ill until today.. so i sit here and watch your videos. Thats just good! :-)
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Nice Rob
The situations difficult on the mind but I’m managing, greetings from Florida!
Glad to hear it Noah
as always great job!
Shweeet Restoration Rob!
Lovely!!
Should've done the taxi from back to the future 2 that would've been awesome!
Hermoso ese Citroen 😍
Nice one. 👍🏼
Awesome work as always,
Very KOOOLLLL.
Mike Espo .
I'm with you, I love the DS. When I was very little (like, 3 or 4), my parents lived in an apartment building, and one of the neighbors had a DS. I was too young to remember it, but I saw it in some old photos years later. How one of them found its way to the middle of nowhere in Maine, I have no idea--they're quite rare here in the States, since Citroën has never had much of a presence here.
I'm doing OK with the lockdown so far (thanks in no small part to the diecast RUclips community!). Could be doing a bit better if the federal government's much-touted economic relief package would actually start, y'know, relieving, but it's a very complicated process and they have to make extra sure they're not accidentally helping people _too_ much, so it's taking a while to get going. :/
I've heard that about yellow from people who paint regular cars, too. You pulled it off perfectly on this one!
Good to hear it Ben 👍
