Lovely result, there! Looks great lowered, too - I always thought it sat too high, even when I was a kid. Thanks for the shout out, too. I''ve primed Airfix kits with cheap primer for years. As long as it's acrylic, and well mixed, I've never had any problems with it. My local Poundland is always sold out of the stuff, so it can't be that bad! Nice one.
Good job with this custom. The wheels and stance look great. I can imagine what it would sound and look like cruising down the street if it were a real car.
That's a really nice color combo on the car. 100% paint removal 👍The gold wheels look really nice and I like how you mated that big block engine to the engine bay. Looks like something that could be featured in any of the Fast and Furious movies. Well done!
Great job on the Capri Rob. You could add some louvers on the rear windscreen to hide that scratch , that would go well with the Capri styling you've got here 😉😀
Love that colour/wheel combo 😎 Not usually fan of this kind of huge engines, but i understand that with this casting, because it didn't had the hood, so it's easiest to do like this way 😀
The color looks great! That reminds me of those Australian cars that are built for the burn out competitions. They always have a massive engine in smaller cars
A bit late getting to this one Rob. I must say the color you picked is a perfect compliment to those fine looking wheels. I will bet that 600 pound V-8 up front makes her handle like a Lotus Climax. lol Beautiful mate.
I think what it is with the air bubbles is the new primer you're using may be incompatible with the yellow spray paint. I'm working on restoring a friction car (I don't the brand. Might be Japanese because some of the replaced parts were made from the metal of a Japanese milk can). I used a spray can of store-brand gloss red spray paint then covered it with clear gloss spray paint. A good runover with a combination of 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit wet-dry sandpapers usually flattens them out and buffs it up to a good, smooth texture.
great result! ^^ to me the yellow looks almost like greengold, but that could be my laptop. someone emtioned the peranha capris from south africa, they had a stance similar to the original matchbox model, really. the first Supervan sat even higher! XD interesting thing with those basecoats. some simply won't work on a given surface, but well with the next...
Primer wise try using Vallejo Black Mecha Primer through an airbrush; much cheaper than rattle cans and even a 60ml bottle will last for ages :and only cost around £6 :) Also do you warm as well as shake your rattle cans first before using them? I used to go with poundshop primers and got reasonable results by warming the can in hot water before spraying - but I still prefer to use an airbrush primer now :)
100%🤗👍🏻 Man i love this one. That satin paint and shiny gold wheels just måde my day. I like the idea about a wreck yard. Would be a cool place to show the newest car build. Have you watched sharon tarshish? He got a garage to show the cars. It is a cool idea
with regards to "cheap" primers, ive always used em. Tend to find that the model making primers like vallejo and tamiya are more chemically optimised for use on plastics, so they cant really get a good grip on metals and just cause bubbles and "fuzz", or need atleast 2 coats to get a proper coverage (if you need to use more than 1 coat of primer, theres something up with it). Ive been using auto extreme grey primer from home bargains (£1.99 for a big can) for years on every model imake, whether plastic or metal and never really had any problem with it other thani had 1 can of it once that was fom a "bad batch" and came out of the can all runny and spotty (yes, i had shaken the can up and even resorted to warming it up a bit in hot water before i gaveup on it) Seems cheapo is the best all round. As for the capri, nice one, looks ace in that colour but i dont like gold all that much so ida done it with black or gunmetal hubs.
Looks like a rat rod of sorts..years ago, I saw a 472 out if a Cadillac in a Chevette. The guy had built a frame out of schedule 80 steam pipe to support everything. Street legal. Nice job on the Capri...

Nice one.
Thanks again mate I think I'm a convert to the pound shop stuff. It will certainly save me money anyway
@@MatchboxGarage - No problem. 👍
My hat is off to you, Rob, for not giving up despite the headaches with the primer. Your determination paid off with a lovely finished product.
A lot of work went into this one Rob and the quality shows in the results. Excellent restoration/customization. Thanks for posting the video.
Color, stance, and 100%. greatness is here
I really like this one!!!! The gold wheels works very well with that shade of yellow. Well done!!!!
Cracking car Rob, Love the idea of a part car series, if this is anything to go by.
I absolutely love this build. The color is making me want to paint my actual capri yellow!
Good job with this custom. The wheels and stance look great. I can imagine what it would sound and look like cruising down the street if it were a real car.
Gotta say Rob, I really like that! The stance and the gold wheels really work!
This one turned out very nice. I love the color and the wheels go fantastic with it. Great job Rob. Take care.
Great job with your Slammed Verison of the Matchbox Ford Capri looks Great with that V8 engine and cool Paintjob and Wheels and Tiers.
Could even been a very lowly 1300cc 😂 very impressed with the outcome... Great job!
One of my favorite restoration you’ve done!👍🏽
The gold wheels look brilliant with the yellow. Great job.
That's a really nice color combo on the car. 100% paint removal 👍The gold wheels look really nice and I like how you mated that big block engine to the engine bay. Looks like something that could be featured in any of the Fast and Furious movies. Well done!
Love what u did here man!! That v8 engine is killer!!!
Nice one Rob the Capri is ready down the quarter mile track. Cheers Michael
I am sold on the gold wheels with the yellow paint. Looks slick!
Rob! Excellent mate! Has to be one of my favourites!
In South Africa they made a Ford Capri V8, the Ford Capri Perana. They did it with the Ford Granada MK I too. 😁
I have only three words to say about the finished car Rob, I LIKE IT!
(Please excuse the caps)
Well done Rob! I love the color you've sprayed on. The wheels look super and the stance is right! There's no substitute for cubic inches (or cc's).
Looks fantastic Rob. Great work.
Lean the motor sligtly backwards. Looks like the transmission fighting the interior.
* Nice build !
Always love a Capri!
Cheers, well done.
Love the content! Have started doing custom hot wheels myself because of your channel! Thank you for the inspiration 🙏🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Great job ,Wheels match perfectly
100% paint removal! Nice color Rob. The big block looks brutal. 😉 Great one! 👍
Great job on the Capri Rob. You could add some louvers on the rear windscreen to hide that scratch , that would go well with the Capri styling you've got here 😉😀
Very cool! I like the idea of building a car from your parts bucket. That would be interesting to see.
Great job at last Rob. 👍👌❤️
Love that colour/wheel combo 😎
Not usually fan of this kind of huge engines, but i understand that with this casting, because it didn't had the hood, so it's easiest to do like this way 😀
Hi Rob,well that is certainly different from before,it does go well, the colours, the huge V8 on the front nice looking model.
Excellent job as always Rob, I've done a few with the same pound shop primer and never had any issues 👌
Loving the low stance on this one and the four-spoke wheels really suit it. Nice job Rob!
Really good job Rob. Love this one a lot. Reminds me of my fathers 3ltr MK2 Capri from back in the day NJT90P top job
Looks absolutely amazing I love the colour,
Great Job as usual Rob, at the moment all my painting is pound shop rattle cans including those 2 examples I sent your way the other week.
Now this Muscle Car maginze style!! My favorite lettered tires as always!
Very cool looking Capri Rob
The color looks great! That reminds me of those Australian cars that are built for the burn out competitions. They always have a massive engine in smaller cars

A bit late getting to this one Rob. I must say the color you picked is a perfect compliment to those fine looking wheels. I will bet that 600 pound V-8 up front makes her handle like a Lotus Climax. lol Beautiful mate.
Awesome! Well Done. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
looks great especially since it gave you some challenges!
Holy crap…awesome bro !
I swear by Poundland primer, my local shop has run out! Capri is looking great, kinda Hot Rocker brought up to date
Yeah I think I'm a convert
Good looking car. Agree ride height is perfect, personally prefer it with a bonnet. Good work
I use the same paint and primer, never had a problem

I went to school with a guy who shoehorned a 289 into his Capri. It was very well done, but handling was atrocious.
A very mean Drag Capri ! So cool ;-)
Nice one Rob
looks pretty cool
