Wow, absolutely amazing job mate, they look brilliant, am well happy with them now, thanks so much for restoring them Rob, and thanks for the new screens as well, I wasn't expecting them. Too job from a top bloke. Love it. 😍😍👍👍👍.
Wow Rob!!! You did an absolutely amazing job restoring those two Jags!!! I am impressed!!! Everything is perfect on them!! The detailing is perfect!! Your friend will love them!!! 👍👍👍👍
Beautiful restoration on both Jags, they turned out stunning and superb detailing too!👌 I’ve just been doing two the same last week by coincidence for my video in a couple of weeks, great minds think alike lol!
Wonderful job and attention to detail! As a child, this was my dream car, in black. I even repainted (very badly) my matchbox version. Jags were always famously built to an exact price for a luxury car, but stylistically and aesthetically look so much better and more modern than RR's/Bentleys and contemporary American cars of the period. A car of real beauty, they just look fast, like something out of Thunderbirds! The widest car of their day and even today, they'd probably miss most speed bumps unless they bottomed in the centre. As regards the colour of the red/pink one, I remember a local guy in 1970 bought an Xj and said the colour was "nipple pink" , certainly looks similar!
Hey Rob. Great video as always. Love these Corgi models from this period. I'm currently doing the Lotus Elan and the Rover 2000. Keep up the great work mate.
Beautiful as always! And by far, the older model Jags are my favourites. Especially long and low saloon cars, like these. Wouldn't mind having one for myself
Hi, Yes I agree, these both are fantastic cars! I had almost bought one at a car dealer but it was too rusty and I had no chance to fix it. But the interior was wonderful, leather seats and root wood wherever I looked. Today you don't get cars anymore with such interior. I like such videos of restoring little cars. That reminds me of the past.👍👍👍👍👍 Greetings and best wishes!
Superb. The "biscuit pack insert" interiors are a surprise as the rest of the model components are high quality. The mk10 is the definitive saloon car. You would feel like The Governor driving one.
A car I well remember from my childhood. The vac-form interiors of the early models did rather spoil them, thinking about it now, but they were quite expensive, and were rarely smashed up - if you could - they were strong castings, and as such, the interior remained inside. Stock footage of a white Mk X going over a drop into a quarry, boot lid popping open on the way down, was a regular end to a car chase on many UK TV shows in the 1960's and 70's. Including The Sweeney. Your restoration + cars look simply incredible. Nice one. Saying that, I'd like a tatty one to make into a Banger. I'll keep my mincers peeled...🤔😆
I remember when I saw a real Jaguar Mk X parked near Prittlewell Railway Station in 1988 to 1989.It was on a G plate and dated about 1968.Magnificent looking car like your models and one of the last big Jags.
Hi rob. Yes, beautiful cars. I have two of these, one restored in two tone black and dark brown and the other in ten litres of mixed house paint. Will attempt to clean that up?. My favorite jag is the 420 compact but no one has ever bought out a diecast model ?. There was a plastic model 1/32 scale bought out in the early 70's? Very hard to get! Thin your wallet out too. Nice job, Barry will be very happy. Cheers.
with the headlights - could you leave them on and still treat body in hot water and caustic soda? or will the soda damage the plastic "lights" and so they need to come out? Thanks for great video as always.
Love the result of these so much. I’m jealous of Barry too! Can’t help but think you could trademark your own paint, because “Pinky Purple Brown” is a paint color I would just have to buy!😃
A couple of gorgeous Mk10 Jags Rob .They look amazing , l knew a carpenter (chippy) on a site l worked oh who had a black Mk10 Jag with red leather interior. Superb job Rob 👍 I think you need to get yourself a 2ft long jar next , it's a shame cause we had one going spare that we kept spegetti in, that would've been perfect .... sorry the mother in laws got it now 😦...... 😄😉.... If she doesn't want it anymore l'll let you know 😁
great work again! I used to pry those diamonds out with a pin needle. then again I used to be able to score strass diamonds in just the right sized at a shop downtown (the shop still exists, I used to get lots of toys and supplies there; they have shrunken down in size more than half. it's a terrible sight...) so I could replace them if needed. those clear lenses look great, too. :) I'll have to see if my little jar of Kristal Kleer is still good, it's glue that dries glass-clear and can be used to make lenses as well.
nice one (two) Rob. i have two mark 10's,one a Corgi and the other a Spot On.both have been finished with factory jaguar colours,i got the colour codes from a Jaguar owners site and the got the paint mixed to that spec.i often try and use original or close to original colours.
Fancy! I don't think I've seen that trick with the headlights before. As for the lettering, it's hard to even envision painting something that small. I don't think my hands are that steady when I'm asleep, let alone trying to do something. Despite not being British, I have a favorite John Prescott moment, because I happened to watch a lot of bootleg Britsh TV back when he was in the government. I remember seeing a clip from a documentary he did on class in English society, where he was talking to a 20ish girl from East London and asked her what class she identified with. She said she didn't know but maybe middle-class? "You see, I would say you're working-class," said Prescott. The girl looked confused and replied, "But I don't work, innit." Johnny Two Jags didn't have an answer for that, as I recall. :)
Nice job Rob and great choice of colours. They look great in white or black. Not convinced by the headlights and I think I would have got "originals" from Model Supplies. However I am really just nit-picking probably based on jealousy!
Smashed it again, Rob! Always love a classy Jag. By the way, I started posting vids on my channel again, will have some customs on there soon. Hope you and the fam are well, have a great weekend. David
Olá, sou o Rodrigo, aqui do Brasil. Obrigado!!!
Do NOT use caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) for removing paint from diecast metal, as it is far too aggressive. Diecast metal is an alloy of aluminium and zinc. Sodium hydroxide will react with and dissolve the aluminium, which was evident from all the gas that was being given off during the paint stripping operation, which means metal is being lost from the surface. I could see that the sodium hydroxide had ruined the smooth surface of the original diecasting to leave it with a rough appearance. Paint stripping should be done with a water-based paint stripper and agitated with a non-abrasive brush, after having removed all the windows and other plastics from the metal castings. If you compare the original painted surface of the cars you will see they had is a smooth gloss finish, with the restored cars, which had a rough appearance to the final paint. To do painting correctly and to get a good smooth finish to the final coat of paint, you have to start with a smooth surface, and not one that is rough and has been chemically eroded away.
These are great! I had a similar Corgi Jaguar when I was a kid. I don’t remember it’s original color. When I was maybe 7 or 8, I came across some of my mom’s Christmas crafts supplies, including a can of gold spray paint. Not being the skilled craftsmen you are, I coated my little Jag with a very thick layer of paint ... windows and wheels too. I ruined it. Until then, it was my favorite toy. After the paint job, I just lost interest. 😊
That is the thing, it has the details that you can actually see from the outside without taking the car apart (which isn't their goal). You're already looking at a very close close-up in the end shots, and you still can't really see much. Adding purely aesthetic details that no one can really or even actually see has the same effect as not adding them.
Beautiful! I think these older Jags are sooo classic. Restoration + is my favorite of your builds. What do you use for your chrome Rob? It looks fantastic.
Good job, but I still insist, if you polish the diecast model, you will gonna have a better results on the paint job, always at the end the paint looks with some chips and a little bit darkness. Despite of that, both Nice models. 👍
Wow, absolutely amazing job mate, they look brilliant, am well happy with them now, thanks so much for restoring them Rob, and thanks for the new screens as well, I wasn't expecting them.
Too job from a top bloke.
Love it. 😍😍👍👍👍.
I'm glad you like them Barry 👍🏼 I will have them in the post to you shortly mate 😎
Wow Rob!!! You did an absolutely amazing job restoring those two Jags!!! I am impressed!!! Everything is perfect on them!! The detailing is perfect!! Your friend will love them!!! 👍👍👍👍
you should make a video of just putting the soda in the jar, a compilation of just cars being boiled. Thats my favorite part of all your vids. lol
Always look forward to videos from the man with the cleanest drains in London.
Saw one of these at an auction once (a real one, that is), they sound incredible. The exhaust note resonates in your soul!
Another beautiful presentation Rob. You really show your passion for these in your detail. Well done mate.. 👍
Beautiful cars, lovely castings and a great job restoring them!
Beautiful restoration on both Jags, they turned out stunning and superb detailing too!👌 I’ve just been doing two the same last week by coincidence for my video in a couple of weeks, great minds think alike lol!
Excellent Job, well done. You have inspired me to start my own restoration channel, using power coat.
Both of these are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!.. You always seem to outdo yourself...and you did it again!!
They're very beatiful. Excellent work I really liked the detail of the headlights.
Top job on both Jags Rob, black and white always suits the Mk10!
Wonderful job and attention to detail! As a child, this was my dream car, in black. I even repainted (very badly) my matchbox version.

Excellent job on both! I really enjoyed watching

It was this car I was thinking of and since I did the same casting, it had stuck out in my mind . . .
Thanks Lee

damn they are beautifull and the extra details is not overdone. they still have that old charm… from the Original jags and from the Original corgis
Amazing work Rob. If I was gonna buy an old Jaguar it would definitely be the MK 10👍
Fantastic job!
Aww we knew you'd pull it off they turned out well

Nice. I have one that's been done as a Banger racer.
Classy Jags 😎
MK10 is my favourite Jaguar model i just like it s body styling.
Both look good!!!!!
Nice job Rob and great choice of colours. They look great in white or black. Not convinced by the headlights and I think I would have got "originals" from Model Supplies. However I am really just nit-picking probably based on jealousy!
A shame you could’t keep the original diamond headlights. Have you watched the videos from Bob Willis on removal of the diamonds ??
Great Job!!
Smashed it again, Rob! Always love a classy Jag. By the way, I started posting vids on my channel again, will have some customs on there soon. Hope you and the fam are well, have a great weekend.

They both look great, I would like to see the blue one with the red interior, done as a restoration + though.

A source for headlight jewels is anywhere that sells scrap booking supplies.
Lovely, Jubbly ;-)
Awesome 😀😀😀
Very nice
Fantásticas miniaturas 👍👍👍
Thay lock good but you shoud of panted the hool for the diamond headlight a silver cooler so you can se the diamond better
