Definitely, restore it! The Porsche in gold color is so nice, and the interior is just really cool. Bring it back to life. It’s like seeing a classic we don’t get to see anymore. Just like it, a travel back in time. Also, the gold color in my opinion matches the overall Porsche color wheel. 😌 love it!
Great vid, that 944 is worth saving for the right person. Honestly, use some very strong penetrating oil on the seat rails, soak, and wait. It will eventually break up the rust and move freely. Keep up the great work guys!
Ahhh, the resilience of Porsche. Every detail, still almost flawless. I don't care what color it is, the details were not sacrificed and that's where the beauty lies. 😅
Well the paint would have to go. Got some serious cancer in the back quarters which is common. Gotta figure out how to unstick the brakes and would probably require either a rebuild or new calibers at the least and might as well get new rotors (does the 944 have drums?). Cheapest solution for the ignition would be a replacement as well as door locks and hatch. Center console is shot and would have to be replaced. Wheels will need a recoat at best. The back bumper is damaged and will have to be fixed. After that, you would be best to replace everything made of rubber under the hood and chassis. At that point, you could start to address mechanical issues that are no doubt to be found. Then, you'd have to ask yourself, is it really "original"? I mean, if you are a "matching numbers" person, more power to ya. Just the term "all original" doesn't hold value to a lot of people as, over time, and especially with a restoration, it is damn near impossible to have an "original" car without stretching the word unto lost meaning. Again, if it is your bag to love on some vehicles that are as close to showroom floor new as you can get them, that's great. You do you. Different strokes and all that. But between time, money, safety, and just sheer convenience of the job and the finished product let alone future maintenance it is rarely if ever worth it in my book to strive for a purest version of originality either by the end result or by the price tag afterward. This also isn't to say it wouldn't be a crime to mod the hell out of a car like this that is seemingly restorable shape... just that striving for purity often has several levels at best and has never been my thing.
Watching WD detailing is awesome, i like to do car detailing interiors of cars such as mine and my family's vehicles for money on my off time from work. Car detailing amazes me for a new career opportunity
This appears to be a rare factory delivered car in excellent condition and worth keeping together and restoring. Notice it has power steering which is extremely rare on an 1983 944. The engine is a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder making approximately 150hp.

This is actually a rare Porsche that you don't see anymore on the road, unless it's owned by a car fanatic or sitting in a car museum on display or in a collector's garage. But aside from the rarity of the car itself the gold does look pretty decent for it. The most overused colours though are Blue, Red, Black, White and Grey. I personally like when cars have unique colours, like Yellow, Green, Purple, Cyan or Midnight Blue.
This is my favorite car from Porsche. The 911 is awesome but the 944's are my favorite. I really like the gold color here and the body is in really good condition. Great video and and awesome find! Fantastic job as always guys!
Really like your videos. My favorite color for a vehicle is silver. Scratches are easy to conceal and doesn't look dirty even when it is. The car has potential. I think worth saving. If it spins, it'll run. The rust can be cut out and body work done.
The gold is unique. Although I've not seen your 944, maybe it should be a donor for this one. This has so much potential and you guys did fantastic on the detail. She's mint after 15 years of neglect.
It has no potential. These cars were only supposed to last 6 or 8 years. NO high end car company wants old entry level clunkers out on the road. It just makes the company look bad. You will have to search far and wide to find parts, dealers were encouraged by Porsche to throw away new old stock parts and no one is going to make replacements, Porsche would never allow it. The 924 was a rebodied VW Scirocco and there were any parts for them left. How do I know this? My nephew had a 924 and that is what several Porsche deals said. One parts guy my nephew's dad knew was cruelly honest. Also it had been sitting on dirt for decades, the underside should be totally roached.
You can check compression by connecting a battery and then jumping 12 volts to the starter solenoid. The starter will still turn the motor over, it just won’t start. Make sure you’re taking the compression readings with the throttle body fully open. Before cranking it with the starter, I’d pull all the spark plugs and put a capfull of oil in each cylinder and hand spin the motor a few times. That will help bring the rings around and make sure it’s not being cranked dry. Lastly you’re supposed to check compression hot. When you check it cold your numbers will all be a little low, but you’re mostly looking to see they’re all consistent… on a tired old motor that hasn’t ran in years I’d say within 20% of each other is fine. For a 944 I think you’ll want between 110-135 cold. Target would be 150 on a hot motor.
This 944 deserves to be saved, the colour was very popular in the 80s porsche's.My old 928s was the same colour it was beautiful. Great video guys amazing to this car shine again.
The Porsche 944 has gained a dedicated following among car enthusiasts and collectors, and it is often considered a classic sports car from the 1980s. Its timeless design and driving experience continue to make it a sought-after model in the used car market. Nice to see that it was restored. 😍❤
I like the gold on this car. To me it’s right. I’d restore this one, seems to be pretty solid. May be worth putting some used tires on it just to make it easier to move around.
I am certainly not a fan of gold cars, but keeping original paint is usually a plus. I guess, like the lichen on the car, the appreciation for the gold color is growing on me.
Next time you might consider using soft straps in the holes on the wheels to pull it, instead of doing bumper damage as you did, two straps, hooked together center of the car to the winch hook, no damage. Harbor Freight has cheap ones, rated pretty high, and different lengths that would save you time effort, and damage.
Probably controversial but Yellow is hands down the best car color (on most cars) lol….and I think gold looks good on old muscle cars mainly, but the gold actually works well with this Porsche!
Gold is a good color. My first vehicle was a two tone Gold on cream color 1984 Chevrolet K20 diesel pickup truck. Side note. Please restore this car. It deserves to live again!!!❤
That 944 is definitely worthy of restoration. My 928 was a basket case before I did a semi resto on mine. I can't believe how nice the interior and seats are in that 944. I don't think I've ever seen such nice stock cloth seats in the 80s porsches. They are normally totally worn or tore up. That car spent a lot of time in a garage before being abandoned.
@@EllenTheArtist Theres a lot to do before starting an engine that sat as long as this one has. My son’s first car was a 1986 944, red. It sat in a front yard of an older woman, who was widowed. Her husband was in the middle of an engine swap when he passed away. Anyway, that car sat under a pine tree for a number of years before my son bought it from her… doing yard work, dump runs and other odds and ends for her. That red paint in that car came back to life and looked amazing with very little work, a good wash and some spray wax. He sold the car for the value of the fusch rims, and bought an f150.
There’s plenty of ways to try before you cut the seats out.and as far as the compression, get a button starter and go to auto-zone and borrow a compression gauge.

I've owned 2 944s and loved them. I still think they look modern, although the insides are dated; one was white (boring) the other Guards Red that looked amazing once paint corrected with a ceramic on top. I'd love to find one like this and spend time bringing it back to life.

Hi,Guys thanks for the Great content.I would keep this car as is.I would keep the gold color and engine too.Love these 944s.Happy Veterans Day and Thank You.Respect the Men and Women of the armed forces!
I still can't figure out why this car ended up in the salvage yard. It looks savable. Big question for me is if the automatic transmission has failed. That might have been the reason it was taken off the road. I like the gold; it's more unique than most of the 944s you see on the road today.
Would love to see what you eventually do with it. Will there be a part 2? If I could, I would salvage it. It actually looks great after the clean. I know we can't smell it and you'd need to strip it down to find out what else needs replacing but it appears to be complete. I would go for the salvage and staying with the gold.
20 years ago there was an auto 944 on a local lot in nice shape. They just vouldnt sell it. At the time the combination of them not being cinsidered very desirable and the slush box and it wouldnt take much I suppose to send it to the salvage yard. I am surprised how nice the seats are. They usually sort of start to disintigrate, that material doesnt age real well.
Hes a smart man. If hes doing it inside he most likely has drains. If you look at the texture of floor the water seeps through the grooves and im sure im the drain is under there.

I don't see many of these on the road anymore, I think it should be salvaged! My favorite color of cars is silver. Great transformation after your awesome detail!!!
I like the gold
Hi,Guys thanks for the Great content.I would keep this car as is.I would keep the gold color and engine too.Love these 944s.Happy Veterans Day and Thank You.Respect the Men and Women of the armed forces!
im glad yall added some chill music so i can relax while watching a detail going on
This car is beautiful! I'd use the one with the stuck motor as a parts car, or sell it and keep this one!
Fix this one!! Keep it! Drive it! :)
Love the color.., gold and black a classic for an 80’s car
I still can't figure out why this car ended up in the salvage yard. It looks savable. Big question for me is if the automatic transmission has failed. That might have been the reason it was taken off the road.
I like the gold; it's more unique than most of the 944s you see on the road today.
Just wondering, aren’t “Weissachs” sp? Porsches traditionally gold? Maybe do a martini wrap?
Would love to see what you eventually do with it. Will there be a part 2? If I could, I would salvage it. It actually looks great after the clean. I know we can't smell it and you'd need to strip it down to find out what else needs replacing but it appears to be complete. I would go for the salvage and staying with the gold.
Such a satisfying video. Everything that you cleaned made me smile.
My favorite color right now on a car is Lime Green
That car has potential. If your mechanic is any good why not try to get that one running. Interior looked in decent shape.
I am 14 but i know everybody like the gold look to it but i think it will look good in white my opinion doas not matter lol.
How satisfying is to watch this dirt coming out…great work!. How satisfying is to watch this dirt coming out…great work!.
I don't see drains in their shop. Where is dirty water going? Why don't you do it outside?
Hes a smart man. If hes doing it inside he most likely has drains. If you look at the texture of floor the water seeps through the grooves and im sure im the drain is under there.
Ya I asked that a year ago. WTF???
The tile pattern on the ground bud is
THE WASHING PROCESS LOOKS SO SATISFYING...😌
Every like this comment gets I’ll do nothing 🤓

Bravo! to the good diligent men who brought this gorgeous ride back to a good life.
Any vehicle can look good in silver. My favorite
In Florida close my home have one mustang red maybe 10/15 years abandoned….OLD MUSTANG….years 70…perfect for the Chanel ….
very satisfying keep up the good work! 👍👍😘😘🙌🙌🌹🌹
I absolutely love this colour. I wish more cars had a larger variety of colours and weren't just black, gray and white.
That gold is awesome!! Anything other than gray scale or fire engine red!
I like it😊
The gold looks amazing! Not every vehicle can pull off gold, that 944 mostly certainly can.
colour doesn't matter it how i like it.
I think that’s a sweet car I would find another Porsche that is super crappy with a good engine and save this car because it looks pretty good to me and the color is cool
