I think you need to start doing a suspension 'bounce' test on the Majorette cars. I recall from extensive testing as a kid that the suspension is far superior to anything offered by Matchbox or Corgi and allowed for realistic 'body roll' when acting out car chases etc!! Keep up the good work!
Great color and great restoration. In France front lights were yellow in these days. Therefore painting them in chrome does not meet the original. But it looks nice. Maybe you could have made something with the number plates as well. I think they were black with white numbers.
It is a great colour, yes. I had quite a few Matchbox when I was a boy - over fifty years ago. It wasn't until I saw some in a charity shop I realised how small they really were.
Nice job indeed, you should have kept the you yellow headlights as this thing was a french one - 75 on the license plate means Paris. Nevertheless good job.
Nice choice Rob old boy, I am going to guess that I could search the net far and wide and would NOT find another Simca restoration. The color match is spot on and very well applied.
Great job as always. I love the car, I had one exactly like this one and I have Lost it in the river in 1979... I still regret it because I have never found another majorette Simca again. The color is sweet. The only thing I don't like it's headlights. I would leave them alone with just a wee polish.
Another 100% paint removal. Like Matchbox and Corgi, being British, did the odd British subjects, Majorette took on French cars and did that better than anyone else.
Very nice Rob, very nice. Certainly matched the original colour wise and I like the chromed headlights, although in France I do believe yellowed headlights are or were a thing,
Beautiful, beautiful I say! Great work Rob. I LOVE those Majorette from the 70s and 80s - they are the best era of Majorette IMO. They have so many great little details on the body and the suspension is superior to other brands. But the more modern ones from the 90s and up, they don’t have the same feel and quality IMO. Although I will say that Majorette has stepped up in recent years, but the modern ones can’t compete with the 70s and 80s Majorette
@@MatchboxGarage You might check out a technique called bolt jewling,. It is a series of circular marks, in rows, cut with a wire wheel. Its hard, but if done well looks very nice.
Very beautiful job!!! The chrome headlights do look nice, although it is my personal opinion that the yellow polished look would have given more definition to the front. Love your work.
Yeah it's off to you man another fantastic rebuild I remember as a kid when we went to Italy My Uncle had a SIM card and we picked us up at the airport in Milan with that car identical to that and it was the same color blue I still remember to this day and it's a mirror of fact I think I have a little car made by police steel the Italian manufacturer well done my friend
Police steel ? I know you meant Polistil. 🙂 I think the only other toymaker who replicate this Simca in that scale is Guisval. But I'm interested if someone has a Polistil Simca 1100 to show.😍
Rob, another fantastic swishy swish transformation. Looks better than the original. I just recently redid a majorette mustang SVO. It was blue but I painted it red orange like ford had it. I wish I could send you some pics. Ever since I saw your channel I decided to take up the hobby of diecast restorations. I find it fun and relaxing. Looking forward to more of your channel.
I had never seen nor heard of that particular casting before, but it is definitely an interesting looking one. :) Great work on making it all shiny again! :)
What a beauty, very nice paintjob, think those wheels are best choice for this casting. 😀 Love these old metal-base Majorettes, quality toy cars. I have Editions Atlas (repro Dinky) Simca 1100, those Simcas are funky looking little cars 😀
Wow. It turned out super Nice.!! I guess older cars like this, looks great in candy collours. What about å candy on that Rover/morgan? You got, that Green car with red bonnet.
100% yeeeeees! I had a metallic green one as a child... Always quite liked the real thing oddly.... Wasnt the Matra Rancho based on these? Think they were a 4x4 look but still had simca fwd mechanicals 😂
Bonjour Rob 😁 Interesting choice with this Majorette Simca 1100 TI. It's good when an old toycar with a special body is choose for resto or custom. I also like the choice of the paint, very similar to the original. How do you find a paint so identical ? 🤔 I also try on my customs cars the silver paint on clear plastic headlights but, after review the job, I think it would be better to paint the interior side of the headlights with a chrome paint like Molotov markers.
100%💯 paint removal - woohoo!!👍 Let me guess Rob; the "TI" is TURBO INJECTION - right?😁 Excellent paint match -looks fantastic. I was thinking about the headlights. Someone already mentioned that a lot of these would have yellow headlights. Would a wee drop of clear yellow, on top of the silver, give her that continental look? Just a thought.😁 Cheers for now, Dougie.
I had a blue one of these when I was a child. Can anyone tell me what the hole in the middle of the base on Majorette die casts were for? That's something I have always wondered what it is for.
@@thierrymilan2039 it was a twofold use for the cut-outs in the base. As well as clipping them into the box, the cut-outs were later used to clip models into a moving road system (a bit like a train set you could attach your Majorette models to). Can’t remember what it was called, but I once saw this system displayed in Hamleys in the ‘80s. Some of the extras for the moving road system lived on for longer as Majorette accessories - I had a number of clip together pavement sections and road signs in the late ‘80s.

Nice job. But to crome the Headlights was a fault. Every french car in this period of time had yellow headlights or at least yellow lightbulbs. That used to be french law until the 1980's. And it was not allowed in germany to drive a french car with yellow lights. They had to be clear. As far as i can see your casting is an lhd car. So yellow headlights are the correct ones. It's not to criticise your fabulous work. It is just an information. Or better a lesson in french automobil history. 😉👍👍👍
