I was in the Marine Corps for years and the most healthiest years of my life due to proper nutrition and exercise. After being wounded and now a owner operator truck driver I am 50lbs over weight and my options of clean nutrition are limited. This video is definitely inspirational as i can’t make it to a grocery store. What would be interesting for me and probably others but going to a truck (Pilot, Flying J, Loves and or TA) and tell us “over the road” people what to eat or not to eat. The reason our exercise is damn near nonexistent. Your an inspiration thank you for what you do.

Great option is buying salads at a grocery store and adding nuts and seeds to it. But again, avoid sodas at all costs! Exercise at the rest stops. Stretch and maybe go for a walk before hitting the road

Oh cool, I'm a new driver within the last few months, who went keto two years ago and lost 70 lbs., and subsequently ran into this dilemma too OTR. I liked how Pilot had more salad options, and was thrilled when I discovered Carl's Jr. had wraps, but I have to agree that it's not ideal day-in and day-out nutritionally-- or for my budget lol. Chick-filet Cobb salad with grilled chicken nuggets is great for keto. Salsa dressing or Mayo on the side. Cheese sauce is real cheese, no sugar, and 2 carbs.
Yes, use to work there in the kitchen and it's the same chicken as the grilled nuggets he suggested. I will say they are marinated in a mixture that contains sugar and dextrose but I still ate it from time to time.
*As someone following a keto diet, it can be challenging to find suitable options when eating out. Now I know exactly what to order when I'm on the go.*
Gotta give a shout out to 7-Eleven! They have hard boiled eggs, nuts, salads, cheese sticks, and gum for your keto breath! How about the Habit? I love their grilled chicken salad and roasted Brussels sprouts.
I never understood why people think that’s the only option. Almost every supermarket has a whole rotisserie for around 5.99-6.99 and it yields a ton of quality meat. Buy some cheese from the deli and you have a whole meal...
The only reason to eat in those places would be if you're hanging out with friends and they decide to go and get food at one of those places and you don't wanna be left out or make them feel bad.
Good video. Unfortunately I can definitely relate to your McDonald's Quarter Pounder story. I live in Vancouver and we have only one Krispy Kreme Donut place here, and 2 years ago when I weighed 360 lbs I would wake up early and drive first thing in the morning to the only Krispy Kreme and order 1 or sometimes even 2 dozen of their glazed donuts, making sure I would be there before 8:30 A.M. so I could get them while they were still hot or warm. (No wonder I had HbA1c levels of 14 - 22 mmol/L, and ended up in the hospital for 6 months with a severe heel ulcer from T2 Diabetes that needed 2 surgical debridements) Since leaving the hospital I've lost 91 lbs (so far) doing Keto + IF + either OMAD or 2MAD. Also my HbA1c levels have dropped to levels of 4.8 - 5.4 mmol/L now. I still have a long way to go to reach my goal weight of 183 - 185 lbs; but I feel great, my Peripheral Neuropathy in my legs and feet is improving - as is my balance - and I'm never looking or especially NEVER GOING BACK! I was sick and tired of always being SICK and TIRED!
WAIT. Depending on where, that's easily a 40-60 minute drive during in rush hour... _one way!_ 😲 I know; we're across the street but grew up in Vancouver. Thankfully I've no sweet tooth/desire so we don't go. That's a serious carb addition friend. Glad to hear you're getting well! Look in to Benfotiamine (Dr Berg vids). Cheers!
Thomas, thank you so much for this video. Frequently, as with successful practitioners of any diet, those of us who practice keto can develop a zealous attitude when preaching our message, and we start to demand perfection from those who start the keto journey. We should keep in mind that keto is an effective dietary pattern and not a religion, like veganism tends to be for a lot of its adherents. Hence, there is no need to hold people to some orthodoxy, and demean those who can't meet the high standards of said orthodoxy. Given that the transition from a high carb conventional diet to a low carb one is a substantial change for most people, demanding that they only get their low carb foods from grass finished, free range, organic, and humanely raised sources just isn't practical. For the neophyte to keto, just adapting to the diet is a monumental enough task, so compounding that ordeal with such lofty standards of food quality will be too much for them to handle. Furthermore, affordability and access to these high quality low carb foods is not something that everyone has. Speaking from personal experience, when I started my keto/intermittent fasting journey 4 years ago, I relied heavily on fast food joints to do keto - and I did it with great success, having lost 105 lbs (going from 230 lbs to 125 lbs), and maintaining it. Eventually, as I started losing more weight and became fat adapted, I was able to fast for longer, eventually going to OMAD, where I could have the time to focus on food quality. As with every dramatic change, incremental steps are the key.
Thanks for doing this video. As an inspector, my job takes me into the field quite a bit and I don't always bring my lunch ... I do try to bring my own food, but sometimes, life happens. This gives me ideas for desperation options. Could you do more restaurant reviews?
I'm single no kids work alot of hours. So fast food has been the easiest option. I'm up to 380 high blood pressure etc. Started keto. First day I could feel the swelling in my hands going down. Today energy is picking up
@@albertomassari77 I been eating clean in a deficit. lost 20 pounds the last 11 days. I been in the gym making gains every exercise. blood pressure this morning is 126/81. so pretty close to perfect. Just been tough keeping routines
Oh wow that struck a sympathy chord. Do something! It’s the rest of your story. You don’t deserve this. Feed yourself like you would feed someone (pets include) else. I used to make cake for my kids - but I wouldn’t put icing on them. I would allow them fast food but not often. Didn’t buy soda. Kids went full on Halloween, Christmas, and Easter, allowed. They never had weight issues because I snuck up on em with something called restraint. I dunno, but it worked for us.
The sitdown restaurants will be easy for you to do yourself. The menus usually list calories and the food is served on plates. So just don't eat the bread, potatoes and others carb laced food.
Subway has spinach, so you don't have to get the crap lettuce for a salad. On the road, Subways are often co-located in Truck Stops. It's certainly a better option than convenience store junk.
Such a helpful video! I loved this. I appreciate this because we’re taking a vacation road trip across country in a month and I really don’t want to derail my keto success so far.
I’m so impressed with your knowledge of the quality of food at these places. I never realized you could research where they get their food from. I would love to see Panda Express, Olive Garden, Bone Daddies, Cheesecake Factory, Starbucks, Red Lobster!!
I really appreciate these videos for when I have to travel, sometimes road food is the only option and it gets overwhelming and frustrating. I am so excited to know what options are out there if needed.
I watch a LOT of your videos. This one is excellent. Loved the “personal touches” between the restaurants. Keep making vids. We’ll keep watchin’ Thanks Thomas 👍🏼

Aww, that’s me. I will actually go and eat by myself where no one can see me. My weight has depressed me so much bc it’s been up and down and now I’m changing my lifestyle.
I appreciate you so much Thomas and the only reason I'm leaving a comment is just to let the people know that fast food is linked to dementia via obesity. Please everyone, do research and try to eat healthy. This comment includes me. I was taught to point a finger inward at myself first, with love. Blessings to ALL.
Not everyone gets lunch out because they work or because they eat all day you judgemental pricks. When I'm out all day running errands and taking kids to appointments and I'm running late and I've been fasting for 20 hours yeah I'm eating out. Deal with it
@Slave Of Christ there are some youtubers that say fasting /omad is bad for you. you shouldn't go past 3 hours. I use to do that fasting stuff but i realized it made me feel bad long term.Just something to consider. :)

My Jimmy John's honorable mention that I really enjoy & would recommend is the #12 beach club un-wich. It has turkey, guac, mayo, tomato & swiss. Simply edit the items to your preference.
Great review! Just joining Keto. One suggestion about Wendy's: my local shop was willing to substitute a patty of beef for the chicken in the cobb salad :-)
I think its the same as he mentioned about cheese at all the other places. Its not needed and not the best quality. Although i still like to get it lol
Mr Wux yeah flying is hard..... I just flew to Paris and back a few weeks ago....if you want to do your own food let me know and I’ll give you suggestions
Here in the Midwest, Culver's has some good keto options. I personally like getting their Mushroom & Swiss Double burger w/o bun with a side of steamed broccoli & some shredded cheddar cheese. It's about 8-9 net carbs. They also have some pretty good salad options.
Habit grill. Lettuce burgers they know how to wrap them put avocado and mushroom on it Best item salad it has quinoa walnuts put avocado on it take off feta and chicken
I loved all the options that were mentioned. I'd like more info about what to get at Starbucks, Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Mcalister's. Thank you so much for all you do! You are awesome! 😊
William Robbins Way better choice than McDonald’s, McDonald’s uses really gross fillers for the chicken breast! You can actually see a grainy slimy substance smeared all over the chicken breast.
I am in the same situation. Subway rotisserie chicken spinach salad is my staple food while on the road. I usually get it with oil and vinegar. Sometimes, I'll buy a couple hard boiled eggs in the truck stop to add to my meal.
this isn't about primary options, This is about every now and then, on the go, last minute meals. Don't make fast food your primary option. Might as well not even do keto at that point, if the main things you're eating are garbage.
I know that fast food is not something we should do all of the time and not the greatest place to eat, but I am glad that you did this video. As a truck driver, I do cook in my truck A LOT but there are times when the truck is in the shop and I have no other option but fast food or I am in a rush and have to eat. Being diabetic and controlling diabetes through diet, I am unable to miss meals. So this video is very helpful when I do have to eat outside the truck. I am sure it will help many other people who are trying to eat clean and low-carb but are in a rush. Thank you. Oh, Chipotle is my favorite. I have ordered delivery (they are not semi-truck friendly) from them a few times and I love that they have bowel options. Very rare for a Mexican restaurant.
Looking up the info on Popeye's, none of the sides are great, but the green beans are probably the best: Regular size green beans size is 4 grams of net carbs. 3 blackened tenders is 2 grams of carbs. Those combined only give you about 4 grams of fat, but 28 grams of protein for 6 grams of net carbs. Not great for a keto diet necessarily, but for low carb diets in general, this is pretty fantastic.
Hard to believe but we can do that! Best to get our fat/protein/fiber real food. I know I can almost eat the whole pizza & feel horrible about it. Plus have massive indigestion.
I haven’t had fast food in years but this video is excellent!! Haha things sure have changed with fast food. Im 62 and was a fast foodie in the 70’s snd 80’s . With these reviews of fast food , this is such a huge help if I ever choose a fast food again.

ihop Colorado omlette 👌🏻
Wouldn't that be great in a news letter from Thomas?
IHOP Steak Omlet, HOLD the hashbrowns, add sourcream.
IHOP put pancake batter in their omelets.... FYI
Chick-filet Cobb salad with grilled chicken nuggets is great for keto. Salsa dressing or Mayo on the side.
Cheese sauce is real cheese, no sugar, and 2 carbs.
@Thomas Delauer at Chick fil a I usually get grilled chicken BLT salad minus corn and tomatoes with avocado dressing.
Yes, use to work there in the kitchen and it's the same chicken as the grilled nuggets he suggested. I will say they are marinated in a mixture that contains sugar and dextrose but I still ate it from time to time.
Your filmmaking makes me very happy. I love it when someone delivers a topic I'm interested in with style and class.
The Habit?
@@RogueCylon The Habit is a burger restaurant
Old 300lb thomas knew all the best spots !💪😉 please collab with fledge fitness again !!

If my only option is fast food, I just spontaneously start a fast lol
Lol same xD
Great rule for life 😎 Spontaneous fasting is a now a new term in my vocabulary to confound friends and family. Thanks!
I never understood why people think that’s the only option. Almost every supermarket has a whole rotisserie for around 5.99-6.99 and it yields a ton of quality meat. Buy some cheese from the deli and you have a whole meal...
You're too funny, and, oddly right. I don't even need a good reason to start a fast, it just happens, I roll with it... 😂😂😂
The only reason to eat in those places would be if you're hanging out with friends and they decide to go and get food at one of those places and you don't wanna be left out or make them feel bad.
I’m so happy to have found you. Did a huge keto grocery store run based on all your help. Thank you so much!
(No wonder I had HbA1c levels of 14 - 22 mmol/L, and ended up in the hospital for 6 months with a severe heel ulcer from T2 Diabetes that needed 2 surgical debridements)
Since leaving the hospital I've lost 91 lbs (so far) doing Keto + IF + either OMAD or 2MAD.
Cheers!
Why do people feel the need to put transition music in that's 10x louder than the dialogue in the video?
Stresujące
For real !!! Ruined the video !!
Agreed! Trying to ruin my home theater system.
Hate that
So true! It's so freaking annoying.

I’m with you
Oh wow that struck a sympathy chord.
In and Out protein style burger (lettuce wrap) is inexpensive and delish!
Yes!
Untamed Restless Soul agree!!!!
@RavenPoe do you have Freddy's... Similar, very similar.
Ya i always get the 4x4 animal style protein style.
Yup love it
My husband drives truck 6 days a week. No access to anything but fast food. This has been a great help. TY
Can you do a video for restaurants too like Cracker Barrel, Appleby's, TGI Friday, Red Robin, Longhorn Steak house, Chili's. etc etc...

@@GeminieCricket You act as if you are an expert cook and never go out anywhere. Where's your show? I'll subscribe.
I'd like this video too since I travel a lot for work and can't cook in my hotel room.
GeminieCricket damn he can’t go out to eat once in a while?
The sitdown restaurants will be easy for you to do yourself. The menus usually list calories and the food is served on plates. So just don't eat the bread, potatoes and others carb laced food.
Subway has spinach, so you don't have to get the crap lettuce for a salad.
On the road, Subways are often co-located in Truck Stops. It's certainly a better option than convenience store junk.
Spinach is toxic oxylates, and lettuce is superfluous.
More! Please do a follow-up with suggestions for del taco, culvers, burger king, boston market, and steak n shake!!!
100% agree. This could be a very functional, applicable, rubber meets the road series of videos for everyone.
Junk cities😢
So grateful! Traveling for a funeral and was starting to feel panicky about meals. TY!
As our KETO purchase power grows... SO WILL OUR OPTIONS!!
So will the price
I really appreciate these videos for when I have to travel, sometimes road food is the only option and it gets overwhelming and frustrating. I am so excited to know what options are out there if needed.
Love the content Thomas. This is unfortunately more real life options for most. Keep it up!
I watch a LOT of your videos. This one is excellent. Loved the “personal touches” between the restaurants.
Keep making vids. We’ll keep watchin’
Thanks Thomas 👍🏼
Also, DO NOT EAT the ranch dressing at Mc D’s! It has like 9 g carbs per pack!!
And pure soybean oil other than the carbs.
Layna Buckley oh my... thanks
So glad I don’t like ranch
Your videos are helping me so much . I have Hashimotos and Type 1.5 diabetes. The information you provide has helped me to get off of some of my medications. I have lost 15 lbs and I am feeling much healthier than I have in years.
I did not know u could do a burger bowl at five guys! This video was great for when u have to eat on the road 👍🏻
Mmmm five guys is so good. I didn't know that either! Jersey Mike's does "sub in a tub" which I didn't know!
Kinda pointless. Cheaper to just buy the stuff yourself and make it
They are delicious
and they have an App that has the option to make it a bowl. Great in a pinch!
Kinda missing the entire point of this video my guy
love the glimpse into your heart, hearing about you and your sister and her tooth. Thank you for sharing that.
It was a fun share
Thomas, you are simply THE BEST! I love you, because you ARE an awesome, real human being!!! Much love and respect!!!
Aww, that’s me. I will actually go and eat by myself where no one can see me. My weight has depressed me so much bc it’s been up and down and now I’m changing my lifestyle.
3 months ago I was 297. Now I'm 249. The lowest I've been was 210 about 10 years ago but I went through a phase. Anyway, you got this.
"These are not your best options but..."
Yep. Lunch for all of this week at work is already planned out.
Slave Of Christ no one needs it, but you can have it if you want 😉
@Slave Of Christ he never said he eats 3 a day. It's better to skip your morning meal and extend your existing fasted state until lunch, anyway.
Well, my cheat day is all set. 👍🍔
Thank you so much for this video! I know you don’t want to encourage the “dirty Keto” lifestyle, but I appreciate you doing the research to give people options when they are in a pinch!

Thanks so much for those options!!! Wendy’s now has a berry salad and a southwest chicken salad that’s yummy and keto friendly too.
Thank you, Thomas for this segment. This seriously helpful advice when we are traveling on the road.

My Jimmy John's honorable mention that I really enjoy & would recommend is the #12 beach club un-wich. It has turkey, guac, mayo, tomato & swiss. Simply edit the items to your preference.
That’s my favorite too!
I like this video!! I’m so glad you did this...when traveling, it’s nice to know the options!! Really appreciate your review and recommendations!!
Great review! Just joining Keto. One suggestion about Wendy's: my local shop was willing to substitute a patty of beef for the chicken in the cobb salad :-)
Hey Thomas, why no cheese at Chiplote? I don’t think you mentioned why. Thanks for this video, good information!
I think its the same as he mentioned about cheese at all the other places. Its not needed and not the best quality. Although i still like to get it lol
YES YES YES, please now do the sit down chains. I have been binge watching these and they are excellent source for me. TY.

Do coffee spots! Like starbucks and tea spots, do sushi restaurants.
Sushi restaurants? Order the fish, no rice.
There's nothing in starbucks thats keto, except maybe black coffee with no sugar lol
Lettuce burgers they know how to wrap them put avocado and mushroom on it
Best item salad it has quinoa walnuts put avocado on it take off feta and chicken
I loved all the options that were mentioned. I'd like more info about what to get at Starbucks, Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Mcalister's. Thank you so much for all you do! You are awesome! 😊
Agree. Those are all around me in Atl. Ga
Thomas can you check Subway more closely as a truck driver it is my primary option. Spinich, rotisserie chicken and guacamole...
Egenio Jaramillo , right but I think you missed the part about me driving I spend 10 months of the year on the road so I am not home.
William Robbins and? I didn’t miss it. That changes my statement how?
That music in between segments is like nails on a chalkboard.
Agreed, the production tech that decided to blast the volume on segue music needs a stern talking to.
Yessss! I was wearing my AirPods and actually flicked them out of my ears when it happened the first time 😂
5 Guys Burgers and Fries is my go-to place when I have to eat out. They're burger in a bowl option is AWESOME!!!
Love Five Guys. I always snack on a few peanuts while I'm there.
Popeyes blackened chicken tenders with green beans. So good
Looking up the info on Popeye's, none of the sides are great, but the green beans are probably the best: Regular size green beans size is 4 grams of net carbs. 3 blackened tenders is 2 grams of carbs. Those combined only give you about 4 grams of fat, but 28 grams of protein for 6 grams of net carbs. Not great for a keto diet necessarily, but for low carb diets in general, this is pretty fantastic.
PhycoKrusk why not just peel off the skin
@@JayTillah-xl1fb Popeye's tenders are already skinless
@@JayTillah-xl1fb Why would you peel off the skin?

When I weighed 240 pounds I would eat entire hershey sundae pie by myself and a whole large pizza. I totally get your McDonald’s story!!!
