The subtle concept of saving money so you can afford to do /buy something in the future is lost on some people .The skaven not being supported is abit of a bummer but i like orcs and goblins ,beastmen ,empire ,dwarfs . They have been out of stock of alot of things I expect the problems in the red sea is disrupting the international shipping goods and materials etc, so that might have something to do with it and or is making existing issues worse .Good video .
Feel the same way about vampire counts but it's all good. They didn't experiment with kids about how you can have one piece of candy but if you wait five minutes you can have two pieces. The kids that waited five minutes ended up doing far better in life than the ones who ate immediately👻
Ive got a pretty good core of old school Brettonians, Orcs&Goblins, High and Dark Elves, Dwarves, Chaos Warriors and allied Beastmen. Not too worried about getting into ToW, if I have to invest in a new unit here and there, it won't kill me. Some years ago I missed the Christmas box of High Elves, it was a beautiful box with a Dragon Rider and a good spread of other units. It was a nice add on to the Isle of Blood starter army.
I’ll say this I also ordered the old world stuff , had to go third party, they were all weather delayed , they forwarded the email along with the explanation. The ice storms down south I think have GW butt clapped down there. I’ll say it’s annoying to have GW try and dump half the old world armies , speaking as someone with dwarfs and vampires , they kicked me in one ball with that. GW prices will always be a pain, takes money away from my crack pipes ya know ? Thing is , people can always just get cheaper models else where and I’m honestly more annoyed by base size change for no reason, that would cost hundreds and a lot of work for rebasing my existing models so I’m just ignoring that to play it. It’s not gatekeeping though , it’s about GW being crazy annoying. I think the whole term “ gate keeping “ is way over used these days. Like “ toxic “ was or all the I “ ists and isms “.
Huge Vampire Count Army owner here I have a slight problem with them being unsupported. But I look at all the trouble GW is having in 40k 10th trying to support over 20 armies and its become a bleeping joke. I will be going 3rd party with my dismounted knights because the kit GW made is a little too freaking loud. Excellent points, just know you are speaking about society in general. The general NPC of society doesn't want to work for anything and wants to keep making excuses of why they aren't given things. I can't count how many times the general NPC person tells me how they like Warhammer, but stay "to the lore only" because they don't know how to work hard and budget for it.
Great vid, I really enjoyed it (from a Brit and a pretty left-wing one at that - you'd probably hate me, pa ha ha ha!) Many RUclipsrs' need to push particular narratives (excessive GW prices etc.) is very tiresome. As a working father, I have to be selective about how I save & spend my hobby money. Similarly, I make the most of the minis I do purchase - taking the time to enjoy building and painting them. People choose to ignore that GW's legal, fiscal and moral responsibility is to ensure they continue to grow as a company. It's as if some people completely misinterpret the relationship a company has to its customers, feeling outrage when there is simply no need. Good stuff, thanks!
Warhammer became AoS due to the skill level required for a successful (winning) game. I agree, that it is not for everyone, but the true gatekeeper will be their inability to plan their moves BEFORE setting up their units. In AoS and 40K you can win even if you screw up the setting up the units phase. In WHFB and The Old World it is not the case...
Don't play a lost of AOS, my games with 10th have been rough due to oath of moment, Heavy Intercessors getting lethal hits undoing me turn 5 has been the case for a few game no matter how hard I played. as for Warhammer the old world I will let you know when I play a fee games. But my experience with fantasy yes deployment and movement help decide 40 percent of the out comes Thx for watching 👻
To be fair to your local hobby store, neither of our two local stores got their Old World stuff in. GW shipped stuff to their Warhammer stuff a week in advance so they didn't get hosed by the weather. As to the price of GWs stuff, people can afford an Army. Not hard to put $100 aside for 4 - 6 months and it isn't like Warhammer doesn't prepare people in advance. Nobody says you have to be a dumb ass and buy direct from Warhammer at full retail either. You should easily be able to buy stuff 15 - 30% off. So 1,250 pts of Bretonnia can usually be found for $217 - that's a pretty good starting off point. Even for young adults. You're living in your parents house, go get a damn job for some disposable income. Freaking McDonalds is hiring at $15 around here.

Great show man. As far as the Old World, just not interested in playing it right now. I have TONS of painted models that I can use since I have been collecting since the 90's. On the other hand, I'm not playing Kings of War either. That has became some sort of crap show with rules changing every day. Tournaments? Not going to do any of those anymore. Instead I would like to go to "Game Days" and just play for the joy of playing. :) I will call you this week. Our JUNGLE is covered in snow! There is practically no GW game that is as reasonably priced as Fantasy/TOW. 40K can't get a full tournament army on the table for anywhere near TOW. AoS can't, neither. Are people comparing to Blood Bowl? Sure. I bought the books because I want to support the system. 40K, AoS, HH...all require multiple books just to play. You could buy a starter box and play TOW with TK or Bretonnia with no other purchase and have fun.
People are never happy just playing straight out of the box. There always seems to be more and more trend chasers. They most like the are comparing the price of old world to war, cry or blood bowllil👻
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks 10th edition is terrible. Also I'm hoping that the high price point keeps the trend chasers out of old world. I spend a lot of time on painting armies and building narrative only to have some dingbat who can't be bothered to even prime his models throw a fit when my bottom tier skaven win a game. I don't really do net lists, just stupid experiments like the oops all clanrats list I did once. Sorry I should have been more clear that I bring narrative or experimental lists and get annoyed by people bringing grey net lists. My friend who got into the hobby..roughly 1 year ago, keeps complaining that GW is too expensive but he keeps buying models for “potential” armies he’d do, but doesn’t follow through. The mans blowing cash but has a decent pile of shame. Just so I can guide him, what’s the best way to collect an army and stick to it?

IS old world too expensive? I looked up prices for what two Battalion boxes were in 2014 the last year of 8th ed were at £75 each per my terminal decline island bongbux. And with Calculating the Inflation Old world as of now it technically cheaper now to get into than it was in at least 2014. Using the Bank of England Inflation calculator That £75 in 2014 would be the Equivalent if £99.22 in 2024.

I do like Discorse (small doses) and Eons. But i whole heartedly agree with you on this one. There is too much complaining about prices. Its a hobby not a necessity. In my country some of us cant afford to feed the family because of food prices. Get over it. Its not too expensive. You are too poor and can't afford it. Buy/play/enjoy something else. Better yet, put that money to good use. Buy dinner for your mom on her birthday for example. Save for the future for example.

While yeah this person sounds like a bell end, to use the british slang, they are right in the prices are to high. More specifically the US and Australia prices. Im talking about the whole mark up beyond the price due to conversion. TKs box 175 GBP converts to 220 USD, GW priced at 290 Brettonia box 150 GBP converts to 198 or 200 USD, GW priced at 250 USD GW artificially inflates their prices beyond what the conversion rate is. Most would give them a 5 to maybe 10% leway for shipping/handling/etc. But that would still only bring the TK box to 242 USD NOT the 290, or the Bretonnia to 220 not 250. And Australia its nearly a 50% markup over the conversion rate. Its absurd and while its already priced high so making hard sell to teens who have to convince their parents to buy it for them, the extra increase on top makes that sell even harder. Also the fact that about 90+% of GW stockists offer 20 to 30% discounts as default means that they still make money if the price was 20 or 30% lower than it is now, meaning the product is overcosted already and that discount is just bringing it down to where the price should of been in the first place.
I've said it before and I'll say it again GW hates the common wealth hence the 290 price tag here in the states. But what I don't understand is the Australian hate lol. Australians should get a discount because Gallipoli😵😵😵 I've mentioned how GW should hire a Canadian bloke by the name of Stephen B The mountain mini's guy as a member of the write staff but won't because Canadians belong in the trenches of Passchendaele.😢
I'm particular about the quality of the things I buy for my hobby because I enjoy said hobby so much. I'm willing to pay more to have more access to better things for that hobby. If someone is not willing to make a similar sacrifice, they do not deserve to have the same thing just because they want it. Hell, one of the reasons I like wargaming is because of the financial investment required to enjoy it. It keeps a lot of tourists out.
It's also an investment in time a lot of people don't realize its work to build up a force too. I think the influencers are really good at talking to the tourists. What do you think?

Bought 2k points of tomb kings for 370€ tax included. It is less expensive than 40k. And since it all sold out, it means the price is right. I bought the army because i just finished to paint 2k points of necrons at a higher standard of painting. I had the money and the clean slate on the painting time.

I don’t know, I spent $50 for 50 of each type of base from one seller on eBay, so I rebased an entire army with a shit ton of spare bases, for $50.

From a capitalistic perspective I'm not opposed to 3D printed models at all. Better prices and some are gorgeous especially when painted.

Great show man. As far as the Old World, just not interested in playing it right now. I have TONS of painted models that I can use since I have been collecting since the 90's. On the other hand, I'm not playing Kings of War either. That has became some sort of crap show with rules changing every day. Tournaments? Not going to do any of those anymore. Instead I would like to go to "Game Days" and just play for the joy of playing. :) I will call you this week. Our JUNGLE is covered in snow! We haven't been able to get up and check out the pig cameras!

There is practically no GW game that is as reasonably priced as Fantasy/TOW. 40K can't get a full tournament army on the table for anywhere near TOW. AoS can't, neither. Are people comparing to Blood Bowl? Sure. I bought the books because I want to support the system. 40K, AoS, HH...all require multiple books just to play. You could buy a starter box and play TOW with TK or Bretonnia with no other purchase and have fun.
People are never happy just playing straight out of the box. There always seems to be more and more trend chasers. They most like the are comparing the price of old world to war, cry or blood bowllil👻
I hope GW changes their mind and brings in other factions of Fantasy.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks 10th edition is terrible. Also I'm hoping that the high price point keeps the trend chasers out of old world. I spend a lot of time on painting armies and building narrative only to have some dingbat who can't be bothered to even prime his models throw a fit when my bottom tier skaven win a game.
Also tomb kings... just tomb kings. I don't need them, but I've always wanted them.

Great video man, I get a lot of your points. My friend who got into the hobby..roughly 1 year ago, keeps complaining that GW is too expensive but he keeps buying models for “potential” armies he’d do, but doesn’t follow through. The mans blowing cash but has a decent pile of shame. Just so I can guide him, what’s the best way to collect an army and stick to it?
Throw a 2000 point list together paint it and stick to nothing but that. Share some of my videos that might be helpful on the subject.

IS old world too expensive? I looked up prices for what two Battalion boxes were in 2014 the last year of 8th ed were at £75 each per my terminal decline island bongbux.
And with Calculating the Inflation Old world as of now it technically cheaper now to get into than it was in at least 2014.
Using the Bank of England Inflation calculator That £75 in 2014 would be the Equivalent if £99.22 in 2024.

As much as i am bummed Dark Elves arent in, im really getting tired of specifically Skaven players crying that their army isnt in the game. I dont know why but they seem to be the worst about it. Its probably just the people in my area and im noticing it more online cause its already bothering me

I do like Discorse (small doses) and Eons. But i whole heartedly agree with you on this one. There is too much complaining about prices. Its a hobby not a necessity. In my country some of us cant afford to feed the family because of food prices. Get over it. Its not too expensive. You are too poor and can't afford it. Buy/play/enjoy something else. Better yet, put that money to good use. Buy dinner for your mom on her birthday for example. Save for the future for example.

While yeah this person sounds like a bell end, to use the british slang, they are right in the prices are to high. More specifically the US and Australia prices. Im talking about the whole mark up beyond the price due to conversion.
TKs box 175 GBP converts to 220 USD, GW priced at 290
Brettonia box 150 GBP converts to 198 or 200 USD, GW priced at 250 USD
GW artificially inflates their prices beyond what the conversion rate is. Most would give them a 5 to maybe 10% leway for shipping/handling/etc. But that would still only bring the TK box to 242 USD NOT the 290, or the Bretonnia to 220 not 250. And Australia its nearly a 50% markup over the conversion rate. Its absurd and while its already priced high so making hard sell to teens who have to convince their parents to buy it for them, the extra increase on top makes that sell even harder.
Also the fact that about 90+% of GW stockists offer 20 to 30% discounts as default means that they still make money if the price was 20 or 30% lower than it is now, meaning the product is overcosted already and that discount is just bringing it down to where the price should of been in the first place.
I've said it before and I'll say it again GW hates the common wealth hence the 290 price tag here in the states. But what I don't understand is the Australian hate lol. Australians should get a discount because Gallipoli😵😵😵
I've mentioned how GW should hire a Canadian bloke by the name of Stephen B The mountain mini's guy as a member of the write staff but won't because Canadians belong in the trenches of Passchendaele.😢

I'm particular about the quality of the things I buy for my hobby because I enjoy said hobby so much. I'm willing to pay more to have more access to better things for that hobby. If someone is not willing to make a similar sacrifice, they do not deserve to have the same thing just because they want it. Hell, one of the reasons I like wargaming is because of the financial investment required to enjoy it. It keeps a lot of tourists out.
It's also an investment in time a lot of people don't realize its work to build up a force too. I think the influencers are really good at talking to the tourists. What do you think?

Bought 2k points of tomb kings for 370€ tax included. It is less expensive than 40k. And since it all sold out, it means the price is right. I bought the army because i just finished to paint 2k points of necrons at a higher standard of painting. I had the money and the clean slate on the painting time.
Settra is a tempting acquisition for me he was on of the most powerful characters in 6th and 7th. It was 50/50 between him and archeon
