The moment I heard that "Yo mama" joke, I instantly balled up my fists, raise one up to the sky, and whispered Scollins' name angrily. Was not disappointed at all.
After reading your post, I assumed you did the same thing when you heard the old lady’s boobs joke.
Boob joke after was good too.
Ha Haha that's funny. 🤣
Lol I thought I was the only one 😂😂😂
I immediately saw the tank top in my mind!🤣🤣🤣💜
This may be my favorite surprise inspection ever. Something about Seth losing all control never gets old
It's like the pandemic all over again. Those months in his house were like a golden age.
@@fetmar gods i miss that Sea Captain
Mine is the surprise inspection of Mar a Lago by the FBI.
I love when the crowd gets rowdy 😂
@@ryshow9118 when segments that go behind the scenes combine with a fun live audience in this way it makes me wonder if Late Night will eventually evolve some kind of Rocky Horror element
I feel less bad about the Scollins Photoshop after hearing the parachute joke.
I love that Seth has no qualms with roasting the audience as well.
They were askin' for it
Seth, I believe you owe Ian an apology for the Chipotle joke. I laughed out loud when you said it, and a couple times later, just thinking about it. Come on, Taylor Swift writing a song about a sleepless night on the toilet? That's golden, man.
Shake it out
She wasn’t on tRump’s golden toilet - otherwise she’d have to “flush 10, 11, 12, 15 times”. Though, she likely would have had to anyways, I mean, it’s Chipotle.
Now I’m trying to think how the song would go - I got the chorus, it repeats, a lot, sometimes without warning, but still working on the verses...
Not so much golden, as golden-brown.
Omg thank you!
I love that our dearest Seth is starting to pre-check random jokes so we don't #jackal him. Ahhh Matt...
This has unexpectedly become my favorite recurring segment on the show. But I always point out that Seth never calls out Amber or Jenny, because I'm convinced they'd kick his a$$.
👍🏻. Lol
I think they've been up there before in one of the earliest segments but from what I recall Jenny's inspection joke was actually good.
Edit: I tried to look for the segment and couldn't find it so I'm probably mistaken. My bad.
@America Project Isn't Karen Chee often in these segments? Not this time though.
@@EmpyreanLightASMR I remember Karen from an earlier one from a long time ago. But not since. Proof that these inspections really shape up the staff. Y'know, except for Matt, Ian, and Scollins.
IKR? Whenever I watch these, I think about that "diverse team of writers," and wonder: is it really that diverse or, more likely, are the white guys just not submitting as good jokes? Because the pictures they show (except, as mentioned, the very occasional appearance from Karen) do not match that description.
Fun Fact: "A shitty joke written before Elizabeth died" is also a good description of Liz Truss's campaign and platform.
I'd imagine seeing Liz Truss ascend to PM would be enough to make many feel like life wasn't worth going on with
PORK MARKETS!
🤣🤣🤣
Hahahhaaha
Also, CORRECTION: "*our* departed monarch" 🧐 7:00
I’m so here for the comic animosity between Seth and his own audience
This bit is quickly becoming one of my favourites! Nobody has more fun at work than Seth Meyers!!! Also, I love that Seth scrapped a joke after googling fjords and realizing the jackals would have his head! 😛
nothing funnier to me than being roasted by someone who clearly cares enough to know me this well hahaha 💖
Seth is the best thing on late night TV right now. His entire crew is gold, his presentation is great, and I swear he helped my keep my sanity during the pandemic. #SethNeedsAnEmmy
Seth looks like he is having so much fun interacting with the audience. 🤣
I was there for this show, and he gave at least two speeches to us to thank us for coming and talk about how happy he was to have an audience and be doing this. He even took questions during one of the breaks. He was great!
"The Fugitive" joke (5:48) was the best one. I'd have clapped, but...
You killed my wife, you son of a....!
LOVE this segment. These are the jokes a no-talent hack like me can write. Seriously, Seth has THEE best group of writers in late night. Bravo!!!
Sex shop panama
900
You got to give it to Seth's delivery, he can make questionable or unfunny jokes still funny.
Absolutely. I've gotta say, back in the day I was not a huge fan when he was on SNL. He's very talented and really likeable though. LOVE the family atmosphere. It just seems like folks are genuinely having fun. (picturing Seth agreeing, politely thanking us for the compliment, then walking backstage and pulling a Bill O'Reilly on poor Wally or Scollins!!) LOL
The algae yo mama joke was pretty high level.
personally i think Colbert's writers are the best. Not saying this as a Colbert stan or anything (I'm not), but the writing over there is insanely top notch. I love watching all the late night hosts though, they all have their strengths.
Please line up your writers in episodes and quiz them on jokes actually used on the show 😂🙏🏼😄
A few times they've done the bit about a writer explaining their own joke, and I always loved that. I wish they'd do it more often.
With a dunk tank!!!
It was a bleak August with no Late Night. 😔 so glad you're back!
"Fjords are from Norway"
Did... did Seth just Corrections his own writing staff? Has Seth finally been infected by the jackals and turned to our side?
Y'know, this just underscores the fact that you {and Steven Colbert) have some of the funniest writers in the business. Taking nothing away from you (or Colbert), who deserve all the accolades you garner, these dudes and dudettes work their asses off. I appreciate your showing us their faces - they certainly deserve the recognition. Thanks, guys!
Love how he showcases his staff. Truly a generous and fun guy. Also WALLY IS HOTNESS!!! 🥰😍😘
03:01 Swede here: just wanna point out that Sweden do have fjords in Bohuslän (northern westcoast). They're *way* tamer than the Norwegian ones, but they do exist. Hakefjorden & Gullmarsfjorden springs to my mind without research. So, the joke wasn't 100% wrong in that way... (As far as I know, Finland is without them, though.)
Cant wait for this to be a new motif in Corrections
So glad to have this bit back, it's been missed over the break!
2:40 Thousands of Jackals were ready and waiting on that fjord joke. Matt was trying to throw you to the jackals.
these "bad" jokes are sometimes funnier than the "good" jokes. Love surprise inspection!!!
I'm very old. These are actually funny. They would go over well in the 60's. I'm not kidding. Have a good evening ,all.
That’s the magic of Seth!
@@susanfanning9480 You and I caught that Fugitive reference right away, I laughed out loud
@@paulm.8660 The Fugitive was such a great series.
I laughed so hard at your punchline to fjord joke takedown that my neighbor must have heard me through the wall
That WAS hilarious! I thought all the countries in Scandinavia and the Nordic regions had fjords but I was wrong.
I did. I also heard the porn you put on afterwards. And you moaning really loudly. And I heard you yell “COWABUNGA!” as you finished.
I’ll be submitting a complaint to the landlord first thing in the morning.
@@WeAllLiveInTheTwilightZone They all do have fjords.. We have fjords in Denmark as well. They are just not as dramatic and touristy as the ones in Norway
@@Carewolf Thank you for confirming that was I was thinking correctly and not losing my mind!!! My ancestry is in these countries and I'm a little jealous that you live there. 😁
I feel a sense of pride mixed with an internal grubbiness that I can always identify a Scollins joke. If anyone wants me, I’ll be in the shower!
Seth Myers is such a bright spot in my evenings!
Omg I was not prepared for the "original" Scollins tank top pic. Woke my cat up with the laugh I let out. 😅
And boy did Ian have some real stinkers this time around!
The best Surprise Inspection yet! Loved the attempted Jackal circumvention with the fjord joke and this isn't necessarily a correction, but the word "fjord" is used differently in Scandinavian languages than it is in English - so by that measure, Matt was unfortunately correct
But then you're getting into what counts as Scandinavian, with us viewing Finland as Scandinavian but it not really viewing itself as such, so you're back into corrections territory.
Exactly this - this was specifically to keep the jackals at bay. 🤣
@@RonnocFroop it’s corrections all the way down
I say we should just be proud that our jackal hearts have fully infiltrated Seth's mind and he feels the need to pre-jackal himself! Go team!
but the joke is written in the English language
Seth is the kingmaker! First Wally, the Mikey the Shoe, and now Matt!
I love that we’re at the point of guessing who among seth’s writers wrote which terrible joke…
I don't want to sound too dramatic, but Seth's attic shows cured my pink-eye
What the heck! (Laughs)
What the heck! (Laughs)
love that they've kept the absolutely jarring intro graphic that they introduced during the pandemic it gives it just the right level of jankiness
"You can't let geography get in the way of a good joke."
To which Jackals collectively spit out their drinks from their new mugs to say, "LIKE HELL!!!".
No, he's right! Because then you get a good joke and all the bonus fun of jackaling in the comments 🦊🐾
Yay surprise inspection time! Probably my favourite segment after corrections and a closer look.
Scollins is a "Yo Mama" joke incarnate.
Come on! The flossed denture made me laugh hard!
This is a lovely surprise
Surprise Inspection always has a few gems.
The Queen Elizabeth/Liz Truss joke was perfectly fine. It's the awkward timing that made it fall flat.
No, it’s poor as well. The whole Truss/Trust thing has been done hundreds of times already and no one does actually trust Truss. Many would happily truss Truss though, but only if they could then put someone semi competent in charge of any of the important things, like, you know, the country, economy, national defence, health services, energy crisis etc etc.
@@sarahrigby7580 It's comedy Sarah. Lighten up.
The whole point of Surprise Inspection is to fall flat. Seth’s expressions and the audience actually understanding how to laugh or not laugh really helps. Not sure what Seth did but his audience doesn’t just laugh, maybe there are no “laugh now” signs anymore- they seem real.
This surprised inspection is warranted , ...every company does this after losing a contract or bid to another company......
last night's Emmy loss warrants this inspection . 😅😅
Correction: She wasn't "our" Monarch. We don't have one.
But fantastic inspection.
That's ok, she was mine. I'm pleased with the inclusivity of the show lol
She was THE monarch.
While never a fan of the whole royal family thing, I was always in awe of Queen Elizabeth. It's natural to have sympathy for our closest allys' loss. May she rest in peace after a job well done dedicating her entire life to her subjects.❤️🤍💙
@@OneSkyWarrior Yes I feel for the Canadians, as well as the Aussies, Kiwis, Brits and others. It will be strange to see someone else's face on the money.
Surprise Inspections and Corrections are my favorites.
The sky-diving joke was pretty amazing 😆
The Scollins gag was fantastic
1:50 Come on Ian- “The teeth were uncovered at the Flossed and Found” is RIGHT THERE!!
Can I write for Seth now?
*That was flawesome.*
Matt and Scollins should do a segment Joke nobody should Tell lol
writters: " hey seth, could we get some screen time?"
seth : "ill give you screen time 😈 "
One of my favorite segments because I can call out each writer for their jokes lol
Okay!
Now I comprehend the "hit or miss" material!!!
You rock!
PEACE
I LOOOOOOOOVE the Chipotle joke! Seth, please tell me you sometimes still read these comments! That Chipotle joke was gold.
It was confusing for me, I must be stupid
Eating Chipotle faux Mexican food would cause some unfortunate after effects from eating it, especially during the couple of times some ingredients have been recalled in the past. That would definitely cause a sleepless night. 💩
@@WeAllLiveInTheTwilightZone ohhhh it's a diarrhea joke basically.. 🤦🏻♂️
I almost choked to death when the Scollins photoshop was reversed. Then, the grandma boob joke. Wahoo, what a great surprise inspection!
That picture of Scollins is going on the wall!!! 🤣 it tickled me that one Seth!!
haha I love that I'm now at the point where I guess who wrote the joke with surprising accuracy
My favorite Late Night show. Y'all are a fun bunch. :)
The Chipotle song 🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dad jokes all DAY.
I really love the Surprise Inspection graphics and bugle call. It has really grown on me.
Yeah
It was truly inspection of the audience 😂
And they did it well. The audience actually added to the fun this time.
@@anro7137 yes! The one time, us jackals approve of the audience 😂
I think I can hear Matt's voice in a closer look more than Amber's now.. Seth you really know how showcase your individual writers tone. or is it cadence. You clearly know and respect these people that work for you. when you could easily keep most of them off camera. I think the show has only gotten better since coming back from the pandemic. The pandemic shows were great. loved the sea captain, but I think you're genuinely worried that Wally could take your job.
Wally? Pah! The man is a dishonourable rapscallion riding on Seth’s coattails just for writing some cards.
Me - ‘so what are the tools of your trade, Walter? A rapier wit, a winning sense of humour or an amusing disposition?’
Wally ‘some card and a Sharpie’
Me - ‘away with you man, you utter scoundrel!’
I'm curious to how you know this and is there some way you can back this up?
Did Scollins dirty with that sleeveless pic making the thumbnail
Ian looks like the deadbeat dad who keeps taking you to the same rundown mini golf course every weekend he has custody of you just to PROVE HE CAN GET A HOLE IN ONE like he did 30 years ago when he took Lizzie applewood where he got all the way to third base which he REMINDS YOU CONSTANTLY!!
I read this in Seth's voice and IT WORKS
Lols
🤣🤣🤣 did not see that one coming ☠️
If you’d seen Lizzie applewood back then YOU WOULD TOO
Lol!!!!! The "peaked in high school Dad". The guys who revels in his glory days when he scored the winning touchdown and brought the trophy home from the State Finals for his town of 5,000.
That "yo momma" joke was hillarious....lol
A Fugitive joke. Perfect.
During the writers strike, I’m going back to rewatch and appreciate the wonderful work on Late Night with Seth Meyers📝😁
I actually lol'd when you told the old lady joke. haha
This had me laughing so much it makes me disappointed in myself for skipping the last one a month ago or so I'm going to have to go back forensically through the RUclips videos and find it and watch it. Just love the banter back and forth and Seth pretending to break the walls of the writers
I cackled at the “yo mama” joke and immediately knew it was scollins 😂
Now Seth has Jackals wondering how the Kevin Spacey joke went. I’d bet it was by Scollins.
Correction: we jackals know how the KS joke went
(and this one in particular thinks it's time to leave KS alone)
I'm an old broad. I loved the parachute joke.
Matt: Somehow the hero we deserved AND needed right now.
excellent as always
I watch any video that has Scollins in the tank top in the thumbnail! Always....every time
Seth said that algae was visible in a "Washington state canal," which is a misleading statement. It is named Hood Canal only because of a spelling error on a map, but it was originally named after Admiral Lord Samuel Hood of that British navy. Vancouver used the name "Hood's Channel" in his journal, but wrote "Hood's Canal" on his charts. However, it is neither a canal nor connecting channel, as Vancouver assumed, but is a glacial fjord, like those found in Norway, but not in Sweden or Finland.
i love that i can call a scollins joke before he even hints it was scollins who wrote it
I like that we never see other pictures of the writers.
We need all the fjord based humor we can get Meyers.
Very nice giggles for me!
Oh man, I needed this. Thank you Seth, the terrible writers, and graphics for the original Scallin's pic
Favorite segment.
Never stop doing this segment!!!!
Ian has definitly won the Nofucksgivenperminute monthly competition. Love the guys work. Huuuge fan.
I've said it once and I'll say it again! Make a tape of Seth trying not to laugh! Those are the best parts!
And I laughed my guts out on this one!
Surprise inspection is one of my fav bits
The Fugitive joke was golden!!!
The "un-Photoshopped" image of Scollins 🤣🤣🤣
The jackals are in the building! Run, Seth, RUN!
That Chipotle was 🔥🔥🔥
For those who may ask: The joke or the food? Answer: Yes.
This was one of the best ones so far.
That scollins joke about spacey was great. You should have finished it ahahah
The Taylor Swift Chipotle joke was actually very funny. The rest were made funny by Seth's comedic genius. I've never laughed so much during a Surprise Inspection!
Yeah, I also thought that was good. If he could have just worked in a breakup reference...
That unchanging Scollins' pic usefully parallels that Schlansky pic Team Coco always use, and which the audience has come to find great mirth in. "We've got an associate producer here at the show, Jordan Schlansky...".
Not down-under baby. Spring is here!
"Yo mama is scrawny," Scollins replied, and seemed quite proud of himself.
These are the bad or cringe jokes that get passed on to SNL. Lol!!! A couple of them were really funny. Seth's reaction to them and stating who wrote them made it even funnier.
This one had my cheeks hurting from smiling so much!
Seth is too comfortable on stage XD !!!!
Lol, you should make more segments of you roasting the writers :)
The word fjord is now used in the English language although derived from Norwegian. The geological formations called fjords , according to wiki exist on the coasts of: Alaska, Antarctica, British Columbia, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Ireland, Kamchatka, the Kerguelen Islands, Labrador, Newfoundland, New Zealand, Norway, Novaya Zemlya, Nunavut, Quebec, the Patagonia region of Argentina and Chile, Russia, South Georgia Island, Tasmania, United Kingdom, and Washington state.
This is my favorite segment after Closer Look!
