There are other guitar lessons of this song and non of them make me learn as looks very hard,but man your tutorial and the way you teach is amazing..I can't belive I am gonna finally learn my first EVH song.

Nope ! Do not learn from this!! -he is well intentioned but, he is wayyy off!-- if you want to play it right then, learn from Carl at guitar 365 or from a guy named Dough Steele-- the clickeetee part with the harmonics drove me insane for years.. I was 15 when this album came out --On Fire was my favorite song I had to learn it but, between the artificial harmonics and the solo I soon gave up- 10 years ago or so I learned it the right way. one more thing -- one is tempted to play chords like the D in the 5fth position for easy of transition but Eddie would play them in the 1st open position -- try it my friend ☝ !!!

45 years after VH1 I am finally learning my first VH song using your video. I watch and practice a bit every day, it may take me a month or longer before I can play the full song right but it will be worth it. I already notice Eddie did things which were totally unique.

Tip: Those harmonics are played on the 6th fret A,D,A and G strings. Try it and see!

It's cool to listen to you slow down the verse section because it sounds so fundamentally like later Van Halen themes, but when played at the normal fast rate, it sound heavier.
You have a very authentic feel for playing Van Halen. My hat goes off to you. Do you think it matters that Edward held his pick with his middle finger and thumb instead of index and thumb? I've heard some guitarists say the angle gave the notes a different flavor and I think it was Nuno (don't quote me) that said it made palm muting easier or different.

@@flixsymmetry thank you! I think what makes it sound cool is that it is stereo. The cab IR's are in stereo. And I put a stereo delay on it so it makes it sound really wide and 2 dimensional. It gives it more depth. 😎🙌

That harmonic isn’t on the 5th high E but rather just behind 6 like 2 millimeters on the G It’s slightly higher just a hair Got it from Doug steels channel but I like the way you play most of these VH songs ✌🏽!! I always loved playing this song as a teenager, seen it done so many ways But I like that chug chug on the first verse that you do And the pre chorus extra Low E is cool to first time

Satsuma 3042 and Kent Carlevi } play it here on YT. Their is no slide in the song at all Marty, just Ed being Ed.
@@standingvertical3048 It can be played without slide, but Eddie played slide on it. Very similar to his slide work on Dirty Movies. (Referring to the overdubbed melody guitar that occurs over the rhythm guitars)

I use a Fractal AX8 with a Freidman BE patch. I am also using Friedman cabinet impulse responses in stereo. My delay in Reverb is run and post through ProTools. I adjust my proximity settings in the IRS to try and give them a roomier sound.
Excellent part by part!And you're sick on top of it, you are a trooper Marty! I think the treble needs to be a little higher, to more match the bright crunch on the album.

On the Hawkins tribute, it appears that Wolf was playing the main riff around the 2nd fret area instead of the 7th fret area...I wonder if that how Eddie actually played it or that Wolf just likes it there better for his style.
i believe he does slides up and down the low E string during the verses in between chords..

Yeah the main harmonic riff is across the sixth fret, strings 5,4, and 3
It’s a pattern, strings 5 and 4 are muted, the main harmonic pops around 6.3 on the G string
Dude, every run during the solo is missing two notes at the end of each section.
Curious if you ever re listen to the songs prior to posting lessons, or at least do you ever listen to the isolated tracks at half speed?
